Great place to pick blueberries. Super laid back: drive in, park on the grass, grab a container from the table, pick the berries, and drop the cash in the cashbox.

This is yoga studio and massage therapy rooms at Blueberry Gardens

This is an undiscovered gem for yoga, massage, acupuncture, etc. I take two Yoga classes weekly at Blueberry Gardens. I also tried a massage there, plus my husband joined the most recent yoga session so I guess we must like this place. It is convenient and the only place of its kind in this area. The great therapeutic massage was given by Virginia Baran and I can definitely recommend her. The studio at Blueberry Gardens is brand new, beautifully decorated octagon in a peaceful rural setting. Three instructors teach gentle, Yoga I and Yoga II levels in morning and evening classes. Students are mainly from Olney, Sandy Spring, Silver Spring, Burtonsville and Cloverly. Also offered in therapy rooms adjoining the studio complex are classes and services such as massage, acupuncture, jin shin jyutsu, Rosen bodywork, Qi Gong. Groups also come in to give health workshops -- I attended one recently for osteotherapeutics which focused on your various body organs and using twists and yoga movements to make them healthier. In summer, I arrive early to pick organic blueberries before my class. Yummy. Eat them fresh or lay them on a baking tray and freeze them and then transfer to a freezer bag. This method seems to reduce ice crystals. Actually my fresh organic blueberries don't always make it home. Watch for blueberry picking times to be posted in summer at www.BlueberryGardens.org This studio is sure to become popular as people learn it exists. It is well hidden on a long driveway in rural Ashton, MD on 108 near 650/New Hampshire Ave. Their classes and services are listed on their website: www.BlueberryGardens.org You gotta check out this facility and try a massage or class if you live in Olney, Silver Spring, Sandy Spring, Cloverly or Burtonsville.

I was visiting the area and back in New York I used ClassPass, and was excited to see Uplift Yoga…read morethrough the app. As a teacher, I'm grateful when studios have this accessible, for affordability reasons. (But also, support local businesses and try and buy classes too if you're able!) I took two classes this week - one with Kathy and one with Brenda. Both instructors were so welcoming and kind. Both classes were challenging (but accessible!). I enjoyed both classes a lot - Kathy's sculpt yoga class had me hobbling the next day, and Brenda's class had me challenging myself to try poses I hadn't before. She also had a message at the beginning and end of class about making sure to focus on you're "want to be" list (strong, brave, kind, loving, etc) versus your "to do" list. I love this. In both classes, it seems as though there's great community - a lot of the women seemed to know each other and were excited to take classes together. I hope that if I were in the area, I could be a part of this uplifting environment. The studio itself is clean, has great AC, and has lots of windows to look at trees while you're trying not to fall over in your own tree pose. They also have blocks, straps and I think some mats available. I look forward to coming here if I'm ever in the area again.

Brenda taught an excellent flow yoga class this morning. I spent all day yesterday in airports,…read moreflying, a 2 hour drive, spent last night in too soft of a bed, & badly needed to get stretched out today. I am now so much more energized & limber after her class. She has a lovely, light filled, clean studio on the second floor. There is plenty of free parking. She has a friendly, helpful assistant & had yoga mats to borrow, & very cute yoga clothing for sale. Overall, an excellent studio to practice yoga. As a chiropractor, I've found that light resistance weight training three times a week for just 20' & yoga for 2-3 days/week are the most important ways to keep healthy, fit, & have lasting energy. Cheers! DocMikeChiro Update: At Brenda's recommendation, I took today's morning yoga class with Dana. It was the most incredible & challenging, intermediate level yoga class I have ever taken. I asked if she had her class on video so that I can share it with my patients and friends who are yoga instructors. Brenda's Uplift Yoga studio is truly an excellent place to practice & improve strength, balance, & focus.
