However, by the time we arrived, Pam and Steve had a plan. We got to use the COOLEST old elevator, they moved us to a bigger room, and showed me all the ramps they had built. It worked out GREAT! The house itself is lovely, fun, and has so many amenities - we loved sitting out on the porch and enjoying the evening. Plus it is walking distance from some great locations - Pam recommended several restaurants and even called ahead for us to make sure they were handicap accessible. Finally, the breakfast was amazing - heck, that was worth the cost of the stay. Our plan was to stay in Gettysburg, but it was largely booked, so we stumbled on Waynesboro and the Hoover House - quaint little town with a number of interesting things to see. We visited Montezuma's, the Candy Shop, and a farmer's market on Saturday. Gettysburg was then an easy, scenic drive through Pennsylvania farms, and followed the route of the retreating Confederate Army. I just can't say enough good things - we felt like we were part of the family immediately. I am pretty sure Pam never slept while we were there - she was there when we arrived, there when we went to bed, and had breakfast ready when we got up. I am so glad we found the Hoover House! It was a blast - so much better than a chain hotel. We had a great experience. I recommend them to anyone - don't miss a chance to stay off the beaten path.
