Cows Cones was awesome! This icecream is made of site...right at the dairy. In fact you can look inside the dairy a s see some of the equipment. Service was friendly and helpful. Most seating is outdoors but some is under roof if you want to visit on a rainy day. They have a lot of playground areas for the kids. Though some clearly need adult supervision. The ice cream is delicious. Price for all natural homemade ice cream is fair. They have traditional flavors as well as some unique ones like lavender lemon. They also sell dairy free options like sorbet. I recommend this as one of those family destinations during a drive in the country. read more

Haven't been here in a while but it's still a top creamery. Must stop when in the area! Tried the food out this time. Bbq beef and a steamer. The steamer was one of the best I've ever had. Homemade and great flavor. I'm not always a bbq beef guy but it was tender and flavorful. Chocolate milk is great. Rich and chocolatey. I do wish it was a little thicker. Ice cream is always delicious. I'm a big fan of creamy texture. Got granny's crumbs which is a biscoff cookie flavor. Very good! Very kind service and recommendations. We visited Misty Meadow Farm for a kid's birthday party recently and it's a terrific venue for that. There's a fun playground is great for climbing and running around, a little area for little ones to "drive cars", a sunflower maze, and of course so many animals to see! Cows, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys, pigs, a miniature horse, a donkey, and even some kittens. There's also a little gazebo for resting in and the picnic area for events like ours. Of course, I was so excited to try their "cow to cone" ice cream during the party and their creamy and vanilla-forward vanilla and the rich chocolate really hit the spot on a breezy and slightly humid day. I only wish I had more room in my belly to try more flavors! read more

A group of friends comes here during our annual retreat, and we love this place! It's very small quaint, with the rolling hills (OK, some hills) in the background. They have a bunch of different flavors, and they let you sample. My favorites are the cake batter and caramel sweet and salty. They also have cookies and other sweet things, although I've only tried the ice cream. Getting through the line can take some time, but if you're out this far into the state, you're probably not in a rush anyway. Smiles all around! read more

The best creamery I have ever been to. I highly recommend granny crumb or the chocolate hazelnut. Those are my two favorites. My youngest love the chocolate cake batter. The other kids & husband always get the granny crumbs. Their fruit ice cream are also very good & change with the seasons. They have lots of animal the kids can pet & some custom made bikes/tractors the kids can ride. You are right there on the farm. Absolutely LOVE the petting zoo. They've recently made some upgrades. It's clean and no odor. I've honestly been in the store twice. I've pet the animals dozens of times. This really is a farm! Came here after a nice day of hiking out at Catoctin Mountain with friends. Plenty of parking around the main house/shop. They have a good variety of flavors - everything from Grandma's Crumbs to Pumpkin Pie to Vanilla to Mint Chocolate Chip. They even have sorbets and sherberts for those who prefer that kind of dessert! Friendly service, reasonable prices, and a fantastic backdrop to enjoy your ice cream. I'd give ZERO stars if I could....I placed a good sized order from them in hopes of picking up at the nearby Farmers Market. I was really excited to start shopping more at these local Markets and supporting local/small business, it was my new mission (with a few of my Mama friends). Anyways, so their website allowed me to place my order, select the next date they'd be there and took my money. I show up at the market to collect my order and they went on vacation, but didn't bother to let anyone but their "regulars" know. I emailed them and got a rude response from the owner, about how I "must be new" and she'd honor my order the following week. FINE....Fast Forward to the following week and I showed up between the hours of 8-12, got there at 11:30 am, and she didn't have my order again...she said I "should've gotten there sooner and she wouldn't have sold it, because she likes to leave empty handed...all regulars know that". Well obviously I was not a regular, and had she just mentioned to me that I needed to pickup by a certain time I would've been there before then. The owner (Betsy Herbst) she's a real B!tch and needs some lessons in Business Etiquette or Etiquette period. Needless to say I emailed them to have my order refunded. I will not be giving my business to people who have the audacity to treat new prospective customers that way...and I sure let all my Farmers Market Mamas know too. read more

Misty meadows is an ice cream shop on the farm. Come for the play area and animals (free) and stay and enjoy some food and ice cream. Today...we were here to see santa (12/13/15)...which was a free event and we could take our own photos. The keys ended up locked in the van. We went in and asked for a coat hanger as we didn't want to resort to a tow truck just yet. Not only did we get a hanger; but also a farm hand whose also a fireman. It took about 30 min but he got in!!! We tried to pay him and he didn't accept. This place took customer service to a whole new level. Oh and our phones were in the vehicle too so we had no way of contacting anyone we knew. Thank goodness for their help. read more

The ice cream was ok, but I was distracted by the miserable looking animals out in hot weather and most of them in tiny pens. The rabbit had feces spilling out of it's hutch and the calf was laying in a plastic igloo with a small amount of chicken wire around it. There were five animals (pigs, goats, fowl) in a pen with barely room to walk. I would love to support a local small business, but probably won't be back. It's too depressing. read more

The animals are a joy to see. My favorite is the white pony. The sunflowers, which bloom in late summer, are absolutely beautiful. They also have a corn maze in the fall.
