What an experience…read more.. I'm a self-proclaimed thrifting fanatic, and I grew up loving to go to flea markets and priced-per-pound places with my grandma. Maybe it was the heat, but this fleamarket just wasn't hitting when I visited. SETUP: You can really get your steps in here! Park and remember where you parked, then head in. Tons of shops to explore - like miles of it - and it's all covered. It's open air so no AC, but many shops have fans and some have AC running. They have each lane color coded on the floor, so you can remember you started in the red lane, then went to blue, etc. We still got lost haha. FOOD/DRINK: There are restaurants and bars here! Very fun to get a beer to drink while you walk. Most of the food was food truck style - pretty greasy and hot, which didn't appeal to us. SHOPS: This was the disappointing part for me. Maybe it's just not my style, but I was bummed to see it was mostly cheap bulk items and poorly made stuff at that. The t-shirt shops were selling cheap, misprinted Fort Myers stuff - but the prices weren't that crazy good? And they didn't have true tourist stores with souvenirs more than just t-shirts. Some of the shoe stores had some decent deals, a few record store scores, and I LOVED the few well-curated vintage shops inside. But otherwise, it was a lot of stuff I happily passed on. Some of the vendors were a bit pushy (the spa/skincare ones) but otherwise most left us be to browse. Even as a fan of thrifting, I found this to be overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time and likely won't be back.

This is a fabulous consignment store. I found great furniture for a great price. They have…read moresomething for every budget. I have always purchased top quality furniture and this is a store that sells only the best. When selling a consignment piece, the person understands that the buyer is looking for a low price for good quality. This is the only place I shop when I want something. A shopper can tell the owner what they are looking for and she will let them know when something they may be interested in comes into her store. She gets new items almost every day. If someone is moving, she assesses the furniture and will take in the entire home's furnishings to be consigned, if it meets her high standards. This shop also carry's new items. They have soaps, lotions, candles and much more. It meets MY high standards!

On the day I visited they had a sidewalk sale set up in the side alley. Ella's is a Dixie Belle Paint dealer. They are also sell antique, vintage, and shabby chic furniture, wallets, Christmas decorations, plants and pots, decorative bottles, funny signs, ornaments, pottery, bird houses, jewelry, vintage cameras, nuts, chocolate, cups, hats, t shirts, toys, honey, candles, jams, jellies, sauces, and dressings. Items can be custom engraved. I loved the delicate bird ornaments and the gift baskets filled with tasty treats. The owners were friendly and chatting with everyone who came in. Even if you're strapped for time, you'll most likely find something you love. As a petite lady, it's pretty difficult to find vintage clothing that fits right, but I found the most magical dress that not only has a beautiful print but fits perfectly. I was ecstatic to find a dress I didn't need to hem! While it was amazing to strike gold on my first visit, I'll never forget James kindness. He immediately introduced himself and offered help as soon as I walked in. He is extremely friendly and attentive. I felt so valued as a customer. I'll definitely be coming back soon, and I'll make sure to leave enough time to look at all the unique pieces.

I arrived at 4, the shop closes at 5 and I didn't have enough time to explore all the treasures. James knows his stock well and when I asked about hats from a specific era we zipped around the store so I could see examples. Even better was that he talked to me about how to take more modern items and make them vintage inspired for a more affordable option. I came away with a gorgeous 1940s hat that will be wearable with more than one dress that I have and hair do ideas. I also came away with a gorgeous necklace and earrings set from the 1920s to pull together the one vintage 1920s dress that I own. Once James found out I live in VA he was quick to recommend a vintage store in the Northern Virginia area. How extremely generous and in indication of what a great human being! Next time I am visiting, I will drive up and budget enough time to explore the treasures in this shop and not be rushed. Thank you James for starting me on my true vintage journey wisely. If you're in the market for used furniture, check 'em out. I saw a number of items I would consider ... and I'm picky about what goes in to my home. Look for discounts. Glassware, fifty cents. Pictures, full price for one, a dollar for the second. Noritake China with plenty of pieces, $150. (The same set on Ebay for $1,000 plus shipping.) Eight cool-looking comfortable kitchen chairs, $10 each. The main reason I thrift is to find unique, often vintage pieces that are hard to replicate. Plus it doesn't hurt to save money and recycle.
