I can make it at home (I have a Greek SIL who taught me) but it's labor and time intensive, so I don't often do it. But I hit this festival early, buy a dozen (at least) of everything, shove some in my mouth and bring the rest home. I'm in and out in under an hour....parking is not a problem if you get there when they open Tonight we'll have a Greek Picnic on the patio, and I can't wait for that time to come..And the wine is cheaper here...it was $6 for what I consider a taste there. Yes, it's not cheap, but oh so worth it for the food. Already looking forward to next year.

They have an order sheet out with pictures of what everything is. That way when you go up to the counter, you're not wasting time and they know what to get you. The chicken gyro wasn't that good. You'd expect it to be a chicken gyro but it was really just grilled chicken breast with tzatziki sauce, onions, and tomato in a pita bread. The gyro was just alright too. We should have went inside for the lamb or the skewers. The spanakopita was good, but cold which was fine since it was just sitting out all day. It's nice that admission is only $2. The parking wasn't too bad only because we were able to find street parking nearby. Besides going there for a meal, there isn't much else to do here.

The Wagner Subaru Outdoor experience is a free festival held the first weekend of October at Dayton's Eastwood Metropark. It is a festival celebrating all things outdoors and aiming to offer everyone the chance to experience it. Free parking. Free admission. Free activities. At the entrance there is registration and waiver release to participate in all the activities. The first activity near the entrance is a whole course to try mountain biking! Theres also regular cycling! Next is try canoeing, kayaking, or SUP (stand up paddleboard). How about trying climbing, rowing, or fly fishing?! But wait, theres STILL MORE! Try backpacking, bmx, slacklining, disc golf, and even orienteering. Already participate in outdoor activities? Bring your bikes, bring your kayaks or SUPs, and you can use your own gear. Theres even an entire campground that you can camp at for the weekend... for yep, free! Bring your dogs because theres a ton of fun activities for them. On Saturday AM there's a Dog 5k. Theres an agility course, treats, and in addition Subaru sets up an entire dog park and swim area (its huge!). Want dog petsitting while you participate? Theres pooch parking for free, for up to 90 mins! Bring your old gear for a swap, or find yourself some new to you stuff! Also many vendor booths are selling new gear. Entertainment?! There's no shortage of that! There's dock diving dog shows, bmx shows, slackline high wire shows, whitewater shows and competitions, and live music all day long. Dont forget the obstacle courses or scavenger hunt! You can take classes at the adult or youth outdoor school (see schedule). Walk around to the many vendor booths for freebies, info, or things to purchase. Wildlife? Theres live animal demonstrations and a giant aquarium! Worked up an appetite after all this? Head over to food truck village for a wide array of options and top it off with a cold one from the beer garden! Environment. The final special thing here is the focus on our planet. Theres no garbage cans, only waste stations with options for recycling, compost, or landfill. Theres no water bottles sold here, only free cold water fill stations with paper cups or bring your own. Beer cups? Nope. You must purchase a reusable stainless steel pint, which benefits the Mad River Ski mountain patrol. Several booths focus on info about how to help including compost at home, reusable straws for purchase, and the parks. This festival is a must attend, and again did I mention free? GET. OUTSIDE.

They close both major streets through town for the parade and street festival!…read more For the parade its tradition to go out a day or so before the parade and stake a claim to a piece of curb. Leaving folding chairs on your spot is part of the deal. And no one messes with your stuff. Its sort of code. Just love it. The parade is solid too. Lots of bands and marchers and well, lots of great sponsors too. A whole community thing! The street fair is just awesome. There are several bandstands and we've never been disappointed with the music variety and quality of talent! Lots of foodie options for everyone, local and exotic fare. Lots of places to take your stuff, cop a squat and a bit of shade and pig out! Lots of local artisans and plenty of cool arts and crafts to choose from. Its a great place to take the family, some community charm and hospitality and celebrate the day!

There was a couple of popcorn vendors, not as much as i imagined, yet was still a great experience! I'm disabled, so i was glad to see that they had handicapped accessible porta pottys. It was definitely hard to get up some of the hills, but I enjoyed it so much. We will definitely be back next year!

Food booths were pretty good with a diverse offering. When reading about the festival before actually going to it, it said that vendors must sell some type of popcorn related item however, very few people stuck to this rule. Perhaps they changed the rule? I dunno I came to eat some serious popcorn but ended up sticking to the freebie boxes that Soin Medical Center was handing out. Who can resist free popcorn? Not I. Soin also had a really neat demonstration of robot guided surgery. Incredible!! Overall, this festival was a lot of fun. There was something to do for the entire family...eating and shopping, what more can you ask for???

This opened last year, and I finally had a chance to go: plenty of time, and good weather on a faux…read morespring day. It's the newest of the Ohio state parks, and you can tell. They are still finishing up landscaping and doing other things on the grounds. The centerpiece is a large building reminiscent of a council house. There are several stories, above and below ground, so there's plenty to see. Allow about an hour for the interpretive center, and another hour or two to walk the prairies and down to the river if you want. If you don't go in the building, there are a few plaques outside that give a quick history and orientation. Plus, there are a few on the way to the river. Inside, there are many displays about native history, settlement, conflicts and treaties, the natural world, and much more. There's a re-created stream with native fish. There are many kid friendly displays, but also plenty of in-depth information for adults. There's a gift shop downstairs, of course. Super friendly and helpful staff. Upstairs, there is more history. In the basement, there are displays about current Shawnee tribal members, and reproductions of many old maps. Plus a meeting room. There's a video room, a reproduction wigwam, and so much more. Learned about Old Town, which was on this site, plus Tecumseh and other famous natives. Highly recommended, and I will be bringing Kid K here. There was a school group there while I visited, and it seemed like a good field trip for them. Closed Monday and Tuesday, and opens at 10 AM, so check hours. Smallish parking lot. They are currently building a bridge over the road, to have more access to town.

I visit often whenever I'm in town because I'm a big art fan--I enjoy everything from contemporary pieces to works dating back to the 14th-19th centuries. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and truly stunning. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating, which makes every visit even better. And don't skip the gift shop--they have some really lovely merchandise. This place is a gem. A must-visit for anyone who loves art or just wants a peaceful and inspiring experience.
