I cannot say enough good things about Haley and the receptionist who helped me during my visit. I brought my dog, Wi-Fi, in after he suddenly became disoriented and wasn't walking normally. I was scared, it was the middle of the night, and on top of worrying about my dog, I was extremely concerned about whether I could afford an emergency veterinary visit. From the moment I arrived, the receptionist treated me with genuine kindness and compassion. I never felt embarrassed, judged, or dismissed because I was concerned about cost. Haley was equally incredible. She checked Wi-Fi, reassured me that his vitals were good, listened to my concerns, and made me feel like both my dog and I were being cared for. What I will remember most is the humanity they showed me. At a moment when I was preparing myself for an expense I truly wasn't sure I could handle, they ultimately did not charge me for the visit. I cannot adequately explain what that meant to me. Emergency veterinary care can be an incredibly vulnerable experience. Haley and the receptionist managed to make a frightening night feel safe, compassionate, and manageable. That kind of kindness stays with people. I downloaded Yelp just to leave this single review: Avoid BluePearl at all costs. My dog was struggling to breathe with pale gums. I called ahead, and both the receptionist and vet acted completely indifferent. When things got worse, I took him in anyway. What a mistake. The place has the cold, soul-crushing vibe of a jail, not a place that cares about animals. The receptionist greeted me with pure attitude -- "fill this out" and an unmistakable "why are you wasting my time" energy. The vet was even worse. No hello to me or my dog. He barely listened, shrugged off the symptoms like it was nothing, and made me feel like I was overreacting for wanting him seen. I trusted my instincts, walked out, and got the hell away from that place. The very next morning I drove six long hours home to my trusted family vet of years. Bloodwork, X-rays, and ultrasound revealed my dog's spleen was three times normal size and his red blood count was critically low. He's now in treatment, but the vet was blunt: if we had waited based on BluePearl's negligence, it could have easily been fatal. This isn't a veterinary clinic -- it's a disgrace. It's unfortunate that this is the nearest animal hospital with neurology specialist in the Atlanta area. While we appreciate them being there when we have an emergency, their actual management of their clients is ridiculous. The neurologist staff is never available, constantly sent to voicemail , impossible to make appointments, and hard to refill medicine. I called in Thursday after Publix was not finding the refill, the lady on the phone for speciality here told me she would make sure it was sent urgently to the doctor, I called again today to check in on the medicine to be told that the doctor does not even come in on Friday and nobody can prescribe the medicine that my dog needs for her epilepsy. Every single time their customer service and attention to detail misses the bar. I have had multiple people tell me to switch animal hospitals to other ones a bit further, and we are finally going to make the switch after this last straw. read more

This location is horrible it started off with the receptionist she continued to file a claim under an inactive policy and when I called my insurance they told me it's because she continued to file under a inactive policy. They called to walk her through it when staff should already know how to file insurance claims. She still couldn't figure it out to the point where I ended up paying close to $400 for my pet visit out of pocket and had to file a claim on my own. Dr.Duran review: Careless provider my pet was seen with GI upset diarrhea. This isn't my first time having my dog seen for this at BluePearl westside (this was the best location that has now closed). Anytime she was seen for this matter they would give her medical support in the clinic and also provide GI SUPPORT for when I got home. For a $400 bill all she did was give her gi soft prescription food. No anti diarrhea/nausea medication to go home with no extra probiotics. Only probiotics I have is the ones I had previously brought. No type of supportive care. I called back up there today two days later because my dog is now vomiting after I specifically asked her for something stronger and she still wouldn't give any prescription. She's the type of provider that wants you to spend unnecessarily amounts of money. If she gives you two options and you choose the cheaper one she give you piss poor care. unacceptable Never had an experience like this with bluepearl but they will not be getting my money anymore. Blue Pearl and Dr. Ruthrauf were God sends. My vet said that my dog may need to be euthanized because he was in great pain and surgery was probably not an option but sent me to Blue Pearl for a surgical evaluation. Dr. Ruthrauf was kind, caring and professional and dismissed the notion that surgery wasn't an option or that euthanizing him should be an option. She scheduled Buddy for surgery two days later. Buddy's surgery went very well, he recovery quickly and is doing great. He has a new lease on life and he's a happy dog. Blue Pearl is not cheap but they have a great business model and highly trained and caring professionals. We are lucky to have them in Sandy Springs. I can't recommend them highly enough. Absolutely unacceptable and heartbreaking experience. We brought our beloved dog to BluePearl Emergency Vet while he was actively dying in our arms. Despite this, we sat in the parking lot for over 30 minutes watching the staff prioritize dogs with much less urgent issues like a dog simply limping while our pet was visibly in distress and fading fast. Not a single person came out to check on him or show any urgency or compassion. Eventually, they redirected us to their "Urgent Care" location, where we waited another 30 minutes only to be told they couldn't help us and to go back to the emergency location. At this point, we had wasted over an hour while our dog was suffering, and we had to rush all the way to Woodstock from Sandy Springs in desperation. By the time we got to a vet who actually cared, it was too late. This is supposed to be an emergency facility, but there was no triage, no sense of priority, and zero empathy. BluePearl failed us and our dog completely. If you value your pet's life, do NOT trust them in a true emergency. read more

Extremely slow service with little communication. After going to VEG which is open and fully transparent and posts information for progress Blue Pearl is a big let down. We had an AWFUL experience at another blue pearl in a different state (was immediately put in a room with a seizing dog--but no one ever came in to check stability--the dog passed in my arms 45 minutes later before anyone ever came in to see us despite my begging attempts at the front desk) and was hoping it was an isolated incident, but it seems maybe they all work the same way. We were referred for oncology services. We never received a call to schedule for the referral and when I called I was told I needed to wait to hear back, but it was typically 3-4 weeks out. They did advise that if I came back through their ER and paid their fees they would process the referral faster, but that was a scam too. We did go in through the ER, paid their fees and they STILL have not called to schedule the referral appt--which will likely be a month out from whenever they can make time to pick up the phone and schedule an appt. We will never again put our trust in this company for our babies. I don't know the details of WHY the service is so awful, and I'm sure there's reasons beyond my understanding, but whatever they are it's not worth losing another animal due to lack of compassion, negligence and what appears to be outright laziness. read more

The two doctors I spoke to were great but unfortunately that's where anything positive stops. The communication to me and within their organization is terrible to non-existent. When I tried to get information, they were combative and they lied to me about what was happening with my pet. Details: We took our pet here around 3pm after a vet visit as they needed more care. I discussed and agreed to a care plan with the doctor I originally met where they would stay overnight and perform tests in the morning. I was told I would get a call in the morning but sometimes it might not come until 11 if they're busy. I called them at noon and they didn't have an update and were telling me things of what tests and things they were going to do that wasn't on the plan I agreed to. They told me to wait until the doctor could see my pet so I waited. They also told me they haven't fed my pet because they needed them to fast before an ultrasound. At 2:30 I called back and was told same thing; my pet hasn't had their tests and still hasn't eaten anything which at this point it had been almost 30 hours since her last meal. The first person I spoke to (Liam) said my pet was the next to be seen. I asked to speak to a manager and they transferred me to Vanessa who was extremely rude and said that my pet was being seen right now (which was a lie). I went to get my pet immediately and I met with the doctor, who again was very nice and I trusted his expertise and recommendations, but everyone else in that building is awful. He said that management wanted me to sign a form saying I was taking my pet out of their care against the recommendation of the doctor but after talking about it he agreed it wasn't necessary. This has been by far the worst experience I've had with any health care service for my family or for any of my pets I've had and will gladly never return here again. read more

If you're considering BluePearl Sandy Springs for emergency or specialty care, particularly an MRI, please think twice DO NOT GO! This is a detailed review but long story long don't go. Alpharetta Vets is worth the drive with kinder, professional, empathetic staff and doctors. I came here after my 4 yr old dog had two seizures. I was scared and trying to act quickly. When I called ahead, I explained the situation to the woman who answered (I believe her name was Regina or Regene). I was met not with empathy, but with a flat, almost irritated tone. I asked if they had MRI capabilities, and her response was curt and repetitive: "You have to come in so the neurologist can examine him." When I asked again just to confirm that I didn't need a referral and that he already had an examine she said "AGAIN, you have to bring him in and the neurologist will tell you if he needs one or not." Incredibly rude. Despite the cold interaction, I drove 30 minutes to the facility, desperate to help my boy. Upon arrival, I was disheartened to see that the same unwelcoming energy was carried over in person. Regina complained loudly at the front desk about being at work "I knew I shouldn't have come in to work today," about a schedule mix-up and this was supposed to be her Friday, and generally gave the impression that our presence, and our sick pets, were an inconvenience to her making her night busier than she had hoped for. Once we were called back and my dog had already been fitted with a catheter, the nurse (Bianca, who was kind and very sweet and understanding, the one bright spot in this ordeal) gently informed me that there was no neurologist onsite until Monday, and therefore no MRI could be performed and no one could see him. I was stunned. I had only made the trip because I had been told otherwise. Bianca was apologetic and admitted she didn't know why I'd been given that misinformation and that sometimes they don't check with the doctors before giving information which was wild to me. They are the first people we as callers speak to they should have all the information, but oh yea she didn't want to be there any way so she probably didn't care to take two seconds to make sure the neurologist was actually there. So after a long drive, a stressful wait, and an unnecessary catheter for my already distressed pup, we left. With no answers and no MRI. Thankfully, we weren't charged thanks to Bianca, but the emotional toll it took on both of us was frustrating and unnecessary. The following morning, I called Alpharetta Vets. The difference was immediate, warm, professional, compassionate, and informative. They asked thoughtful questions, offered clear information, and welcomed us in. It was everything I expected and needed in such a vulnerable moment. BluePearl Sandy Springs may offer advanced medical services (if they're there), but in my experience, they are lacking in basic compassion and communication. When you're dealing with someone's pet in a moment of crisis, that makes all the difference. And sadly, they missed the mark entirely. Do better. read more

I can't say enough about how great the people at this facility were, when, as an out-of-state visitor, I needed them this past Christmas morning. From the front desk staff to the vet technicians to the vet (Dr. Reyes), everyone was professional and compassionate. They delivered the bad news about our dog's condition, and (limited) options, in a direct and honest fashion, and allowed us to make all ultimate decisions. It was a sad day, but we were given as much time as we wanted in our pet's last hours. We even received a condolence card from Dr. Reyes afterwards, which showed a great deal of caring. I was impressed by the fact that this facility was so well staffed on Christmas. I saw multiple vets, vet technicians and front desk personnel - when I wasn't sure I'd even find anything open anywhere. Four and a half months ago, my fiancée and I adopted a very sweet and precious, 16 year old cat who was partially blind and partially deaf. She was very loving and showed no additional signs of any health issues while we had her. Suddenly, on Friday (08.22.25), she began having seizures and vomiting. We immediately rushed her to BluePearl in Sandy Springs. It was our first time there. The staff quickly got us checked in and took her to the back to be examined. After waiting quite a while, the news of her condition and prognosis was not the best. We ended up having to make the tough decision to put Karai to sleep. From first check in through the process of letting Karai pass away peacefully, the entire BluePearl staff was truly amazing, caring, compassionate, understanding and so helpful. We were under no pressure or time constraints from the staff to make a decision about Karai. Any questions or concerns we had were addressed thoroughly and compassionately. She has always been caring and very detailed in her examination of problems that Kahlúa has had over the years. I highly recommend her. Some of the other doctors that I've had in this area of blue pearl, non-emergency doctors, are no longer there. The vet staff is fine. The back office is horrible and unprofessional. Their carelessness (or lack of training) cost me over $1500. At a time when I'm already upset by the unexpected death my my dog, I now have to deal with a loss of funds. I called to try to correct it and was verbally abused by the billing department and then I called back to talk to the clinic manager and have been ignored. Stay clear of this horrible cheating office. I understand when you are desperate and seeking emergency care for your pup you'll go anywhere for help, but hopefully this will serve as a warming, or at least be more diligent than I was about the billing process and giving them your credit card. Day 1 I checked in around noon for jaundice, not eating(5 days), high liver enzymes, all the detrimental signs he's not okay. They did not see me for 5 hours after check in. Then I finally asked to be put in a room. Once in a room the doctor still took 30 mins to show up. Barley apologized for the wait and only provided excuses. She said he would have to be in hospital for 1-2 days. I accepted since he did not eat and it was best for him. By day 2 my bill miraculously became 8,000 with no one calling to inform me about anything. They called me once during this whole 3 day stay. Other than that I called them to check on my baby and speak to the doctor since they didn't wanna speak to me. They waited a long time to give him appetite stimulant which is weird if I just said he didn't eat for 5 days. Then they just wanted to keep racking up my bill to tack advantage of someone clearly not okay bc their pet isn't okay. When you call to check on him all they say is he's okay. Like no extra details? The lady on the phone kept referencing "if I can't afford" instead of being a human and giving human to human advice not just trying to get my Kirby. Especially after you just racked up my bill to 8000 without notifying someone of all the things they are doing to your pet. Then on day 3 when I told them I wanted him discharge they forwarded my call?? RED FLAG!!!! So I called again and had to basically scream at them to put a doctor on NOW. Don't ignore someone's call when you want to charge them thousands of dollars. If I'm being charged that much I can be as annoying as j want to and I can call as many times as I need to. In my head I should be able to call you 9000 times. Fast forward I got to get him discharged. He wasn't eating as much as I would like so I called again to make sure I should wait to give the antibiotics and the front desk Raven girl hung up the phone??? Craaaaazy thing to do again after someone just paid you 9000. She had the excuse the phone kept hanging up and the doctors can't answer my question? So basically don't go here tbh. They are so money hungry it's disgusting. The only people that were semi nice were Maria and dr seahorn. Besides that I was very disappointed with the whole team. Rothman Reyes is the absolute worst vet I have ever had the displeasure of meeting with. It is not his job to shame the pet parents who come to him for help and it is such a blight upon the reputation of Blue Pearl that they would employ such a heartless, mean-spirited man. If you can't have proper bedside manner why are you even working as a vet? His behavior makes it so I would never feel comfortable leaving my pet alone with him, much less seeking out his care. They have to pay people to get these good reviews because I just don't see how these reviews are possible. After being involved with a humane society for some time, the treatment we both received at BluePearl is unheard of. Please reconsider bringing your baby to this hospital. Just to narrow my experience down, I will start with the staff. Very unfriendly, not compassionate, and quite unorganized. The doctor was all about money and how much I had to pay. It kept getting brought up to me and I started feeling uneasy. But it just kept getting worse. She had no bedside manners and made me sign a document saying I took my dog home after being advised not to. She wanted me to pay an additional $8k to leave him there, while leaving me under the impression he wouldn't survive if I took him home. Pure robbery.... I truly feel this hospital is a racket. She further elaborated they offer euthanization and they will mail his ashes to me. She refused prescribed medications after being diagnosed with heart failure. She told me that the on-call cardiologist would not be able to treat him because of how late it was (11:30 pm). We got there at 7pm and tests were run shortly after arrival. A cardiologist was never called in. Two days later, after returning home, my baby is being prescribed medications for his diagnosis by a different veterinarian. ($15) Since my visit, I have called 3 times and left messages to get lab results "for my dying dog". The lab results they said I had to pay even more money for, so of course I agreed. It continued to stack up. Noone will return my call. Now that they've made all the money they can off of me, I don't matter, and neither does he. My baby is now eating a little better, he's calm, and he is doing well other than the cough he developed after leaving this hospital. I'll never again drive 2 hours to seek treatment from this place. I highly encourage you to take your baby somewhere else if possible. I drove two hours back home with my dog at 3:00 am and I was shaking so bad, I'm surprised I made it home safe. Please do your research. I would never download and create an account just so I can give a review. It's seems petty. BluePearl was great! On Monday, March 23rd, during the coronavirus pandemic, our newly adopted pup was not himself. The vet we would've gone to wasn't open yet, and their emergency line referred us to BluePearl. I haven't been when it is operating normally, but it was SO organized during social distancing for coronavirus. We drove up and there was someone there (wearing gloves) to tell us what spot to park in. Their spots were numbered with makeshift signs (you wouldn't have known they were makeshift though). It was pretty packed, with a lot of spots filled up. We parked and waited for some paperwork. We filled out the paperwork and rolled down our window when we were done for someone to pick it up. A vet tech came out (wearing a face mask) to ask what was going on. They took our pup, in such a loving way, and the vet, Jean Sonnenfield, DPhil, DVM, called us with an update. She gave us 3 options, all of which she said she would be comfortable with, and asked how we wanted to proceed. We didn't feel pressured at all to spend more money, but we went with the x-rays anyway because we're neurotic new parents. She was upfront from the beginning about the costs. After the x-rays, she called us again to let us know what she found and gave us medicine to help our dog. We got there at 8:30 am and left around 10:30 am, so it did take a while, but we never felt in the dark about anything or like it was an insanely long amount of time. For the appointment, x-rays, and medicine, it came out to $500. Definitely expensive, but we felt like we were in good hands. I know this isn't the cheapest option, but if we ever have an emergency with our pet in the future and our normal vet isn't open, we would definitely feel comfortable coming back to BluePearl! read more

The doctor was great and thoroughly examined her then offered treatment for her pain. The front desk staff was also very nice and caring. BluePearl is definitely the place to go for premium emergency pet care. It can be pricy and they may make further recommendations but use discernment in your treatment approach. Less is more. Last night we visited for an emergency. We once had a long standing relationship with another pet. Of all the vets I felt this was the answer. The person who greeted us walked past and pointed "you, you, come with me." I asked "are you talking to me? ". "Yes. Run far away from this place. My dog was diagnosed with cancer in the mouth. We were refereed to Blue Pearl oncology department in Sandy Springs. The administrative staff were lovely. The oncology Dr. Fout seemed nice. However we went from good to bad quickly. They took our dog off the medication that was reducing the tumor size. They did an ultra sound on our dog and told us the Doctor would be in touch in a few days. A week and a few days lapsed, the tumor kept growing and growing..... We reached out to Blue Pearl, they finally got back to us. They told us to start radiation, which of course we scheduled. We asked for the reading on the X Ray which they insisted we get before took our dog to Blue Pearl..... the reading said the multiple nodules in the lungs were probable cancer. We were told the radiologist from Blue Pearl that gave the report OVER INTERPRETEDTHE XRAY ( WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN) We did not put our dog through the radiation, the cancer had spread to the lungs....... Blue Pearl was going to put my dog through radiation and take $9000.00 from us. They are HORRIBLE....... read more

Honestly if you're here you're probably desperate to receive help for your fur baby. This place should be your LAST resort. My advice is to call your vet first before stopping by here. Like many of the other reviews have mentioned, they will run up a bill just for the sake of doing numerous unnecessary test. The only thing I should have received from them was fluids so my dog could rehydrate to attend her regular vet in the morning. I was hysterical because she was vomiting blood but nothing they did addressed the issue or stopped the vomiting! I walked away with a $1000 bill and medicine she did not need. They legit wrote in her paper work to see the vet the next day. So I still had to go to the vet the next day and they immediately addressed the problem for HALF the amount I was charged here. Regina at the front could use some serious empathy training. I hope to never return here and wish I could have avoided the massive bill. In this economy they should be a little more considerate of patients and pet parents. I had to ask them to show me how to use the medicine they were sending me home with because after waiting in a cold room for 4 hours they were ready to send me home with my dog, a random bag of $800 medicine and not so much as a feel better. read more

I haven't seen the bill yet (eyes closed), but my Bride took our Labrador in for emergency surgery on Christmas Eve while I was out of town...we picked him up Christmas Day. The Staff was friendly and responsive to our concerns and questions; Derby seems to be healing well. read more

My kitten Tom might have swallowed an ibuprofen, so I thought he should be seen. The Blue Pearl staff saw him right away and took very good care of him. Dr. Duncan is very knowledgeable and caring! She even called the next day to see how Tom was. Even though we didn't see a pill come out one way or the other, she explained to me what to look for in coming days just in case he did swallow it. They did everything he needed and he is 100% the next day. I'm grateful for their help! read more

They are very busy, clearly understaffed and unorganized. Our ER vet knew very little about symptoms and complications of chronic kidney failure and was unable to reach an internist to address our pups symptoms and his questions. In fact he admitted to being gone for a month and was insecure. Really? The Internists leave at 4pm and we were only offered an appt for next week!! There is something seriously wrong with this place if there isn't an internist available 24 7 to give a proper diagnosis and provide a treatment Seek services elsewhere. read more
