This was a very sad day, because we had to say goodbye to our sweet old boxer, Goose. We brought him in with a lot of pre-existing health issues, and the staff here was so incredibly kind, caring, and welcoming. I've never seen such a wonderful, open-concept vet facility before. Visited with my pup this evening and was grateful to the staff at VEG. From the moment I walked in the door, we received prompt assistance as well as compassionate care. When the person at the front desk saw me walking up, she jumped up with a laptop and ran to the door. I was immediately taken back and then put in a room with my pet. As the front desk person did intake, another person did a quick exam and vitals on my pup. Within minutes the doctor was in to examine: recommend, and answer my questions. Took our 10 year old 80lb dog here last night for a raging allergic skin condition. Such great care we received. Love that we got to stay with our dog during treatment. I took my critically ill 18-year old dog Annie to VEG in Alpharetta the night of Sept. 8. A team met me the moment I arrived and immediately began examining Annie. Dr. Lowe and nurse Jacy attended to Annie and me with care and compassion. After constant monitoring of Annie and conducting tests, it was determined that Annie was at her last stages in life. I could not have been in a better place when Annie was put to rest. Sadly, on the morning of Sept. 12, I had to take my other 18-year old dog Mitzi to VEG. Again, Mitzi and I were taken immediately to an examination table upon arrival, and Dr. Sole and nurses Nikki, Nicki and Alyssa began their examination and care. After conducting tests, it was determined that Mitzi's medical issues were too severe to prolong her life. (I am convinced that Mitzi died of a broken heart after Annie's passing.) I am forever grateful for all of the VEG Alpharetta doctors, nurses and staff for their compassion and care of not only me, but my dogs. read more

Today I had to say goodbye to my beloved dog Lola, and I can't express how grateful I am to Dr. Bailee Eitzer and the entire team at VEG Brookhaven. Everyone was so gentle and kind during one of the hardest moments of my life. I especially want to thank the wonderful staff member who helped process my payment--I kindly asked if she would take a photo of Lola and I using my phone, she did with no hesitation. My 19 year old sweetie pie, Smokey, had been declining steadily over the past few years, but still had some spunk and a good quality of life. He'd started wearing diapers because he had starting peeing everywhere (even more than usual; he was always an inappropriate urinator and I was sooooo tired of cleaning up stains and odors). I noticed heavy, deep breathing while sleeping and took him in to vet and they said he had fluid around his heart. I knew what that meant. Lost a cat during Covid from same thing. :(. He went downhill pretty fast and I knew we'd need to make a decision. That decision time came in the middle of the night. I bundled him up, searched the internet and found VEG Avalon. They told me it wasn't looking good and to call anyone who wanted to say goodbye. We got to hold him for a while and then went to a quiet room where he was gently sent over the rainbow. My heart is breaking as I write this, but I know that he's not suffering and has a few of his old siblings to play with now. I can't tell you how grateful I am that the ladies who helped us were so kind and loving. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else. read more

I have been mustering up the strength to write this review for several months as I had a "bittersweet" experience here and it is tough to relive. But others truly deserve to know about this group. So, here it goes! My day spent at VEG was one of the worst days of my life thus far, but it was made as tolerable and comfortable as possible with this special team. I had an emergency situation and was welcomed in with haste and led directly into the open ER with my baby in his bed. They even let me hold the oxygen tube to his face while he was examined, so I knew he was as comfortable as possible with his mom by his side-not behind closed doors with strangers. After realizing the severity of the situation, I felt that I was given the kind of honest and "brutal" advice that a friend would give to you in a really hard spot by ALL staff members here. They truly wanted what was best for my little buddy, and although it ended up not being the choice that I wanted to make, I was soothed, re-assured and comforted through the process. A couple of them even sat on the ground and cried with me. They allowed pretty much my entire family to come and let us spend our final moments and say our last goodbyes in a private room. Basically, it came down to a very expensive option that would only be a short term "bandaid," or, the choice. I never at any time felt pressured to make one decision over the other, and I truly believe that they would have let me sit in there all day taking up space on a busy Saturday until I had made the right choice for us. I felt welcomed and understood by all the fellow animal lovers around me, who knew that even though it's just another "patient" to them, to me this was the moment I decide to say goodbye to the little love of my life. I never took my eyes off of my boy and held him in my arms until his last breath. If you have a pet emergency of any kind- I strongly urge you to bring your babies here. Our 11 yr old Schnoodle soon to be 12, was having episodes of lethargy and collapse. On 12/10/23, we knew it was life threatening so I called VEG that Sunday morning. Dr. McKinney got on the phone and after hearing the symptoms urged me to bring our baby in. VEG called me after 20 min to see where we were and to offer help getting our dog into the clinic. She was triaged and given an IV with fluids. An ultrasound was done. Dr. McKinney said there was fluid in our dog's belly which turned out to be blood. What we thought were seizures were actually shock from blood loss. They did X-rays, bloodwork including blood typing for a transfusion and Dr. McKinney consulted with a radiologist. Coco had a mass in her spleen. We got frank advice about splenic tumors. 2/3 of them are cancer with most being this aggressive mesenchymal neoplasm that originates in the endothelial cells of blood vessels. It spreads to other organs in the blood microscopically. We decided to opt for surgery hoping it would not be cancer.. Dr. McKinney performed the splenectomy. All of the staff/team were so kind. Honestly, they saved her life that day. We were allowed to stay with her and watch the surgery through the glass window. I didn't care about the cost. I just wanted to help my dog. She made it through the night and we brought her home the next day. Sadly, the biopsy showed hemangiosarcoma. It was devastating. We are taking it one day at a time. There is no cure. But we have her for whatever time she has left. It's heartbreaking and not the outcome we were hoping for. I can't say enough about VEG. They were very professional, kind and never pressured us to make a decision. My husband and I were impressed with how efficient this hospital was and liked the open concept that allowed us to be with our dog through a very traumatic experience. Her night team and doctor were also great. They called me the next morning and sent me text messages about her progress. I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends with pets. read more

I came in almost 2 months ago with my furbaby Drako, he had a pretty severe infection on his back. The staff immediately took him in and started working on finding a solution. 12/10 recommend this place. Everyone is beyond nice, kind and caring! It is an open concept ER, you are right there in the trauma room with everyone, doctors, Nurses (vet techs) and other patients. They have high tech equipment that is mobile. We had a rough complicated surgery at our local vet. We came to the ER due to the complications. Dr. Corley was amazing, assessed the situation and did surgery right away! She was able to fix the surgery problem and provide solutions for it to not occur again. Her care and compassion was out of this world. You are able to watch or be with your pet the whole time. (Wild concept). I chose to spend surgery in the waiting/front lobby. I don't do well with blood. The receptionist offered coffee, snacks, blankets. Went in with a major emergency and out having had surgery 3 hours later. Wild! (In a good way). I have to recommend this place. I got serviced right away. I am a school teacher. I got there at 5 in the morning. They helped me right away. They told me exactly what they were going to do. I knew it was going to be g to cost, but honestly after 6 weeks of going to the new vet due to being new to canton and having medications switched without improvement. It was nice to see that blood tests and x rays were done right away. They gave me a written description of each meds and what to do. My dog is 12 years old with a severe respiratory infection. We took one our cats (Sandy) here last night as it has not been eating lately. This was our first time to VEG and we were very impressed at the awesome staff and what a first class facility it is. The staff and Dr. Bible were thorough and compassionate. I will say that the it is expensive, but you get what you pay for. Guys, you saved my dog's Daisy hind paws from paralysis (after a wrong diagnosis in the other emergency room) and quickly sent her straight to the surgery table in the College of Veterinary Medicine (University of Georgia). It turned out to be a hernia of 11-12 vertebrae. Now my doggy is at home for recovery. We're ALREADY learning to walk (2-3 days after surgery). This place is great. We took our German Shepherd in for a cough and a lot of mucus. Found out after doing X-rays and blood work that he has pneumonia. They kept him there overnight on an IV and took care of him all night. They also offered that we could stay the night in a hammock in the room that he was staying in. Hats off to y'all, that's pretty awesome. Customer service here is outstanding. Kept us informed at all times and were very transparent with the pricing and explained everything. The people here absolutely love their job and they had plenty of snacks for us as well. We'll be coming back for all our emergency needs. Thanks again for all the people that helped! We came to VEG because our 14 yr old lab was sick. From the minute we walked in the door we felt compassion and care. After assessment and some oxygen treatment we took our old guy home to love on him until older kids could arrive. We went back to VEG late the next day together as a family to say goodbye to our precious dog. Every person working with us made sure we understood processes and were so incredibly compassionate. Everything moved on our timeline not theirs. I highly recommend them for any emergent care needs for your pets. First, I'll say that if your pet is critically ill and your vet isn't open, this is a place to go. That was not our case. We thought our pet might have swallowed pills. We induced vomiting immediately at home and only found one undigested pill, but to be safe we took him to VEG. They took us right in and induced vomiting again while I called poison control. No additional pills came up and our pup seemed fine so we were ready to pay our $700 and leave. We sat, holding our dog, for almost an hour until they brought us an estimate to watch him overnight that could be as high as $3400. We told them we would just take him home, five minutes away, and bring him back if he didn't seem right. When we declined the medicines they asked us to get they said, "let us give him some subcutaneous fluids, since you've already paid for them." If he needed $130 worth of fluids, why hadn't they given them to him over the last 90 minutes? After three minutes of fluids, we left. We had learned our lesson. Find another emergency vet. That would be the end of it but when they sent us a satisfaction survey, my wife let them know what we experienced. Shortly after they asked if they could call and we connected a few days later. The vet on the phone basically called to let me know that our description of our visit was wrong and that "we were probably frantic." We're about the two least frantic people around. We just wanted to see if we got all the pills when he threw up at home. Don't call me just to tell me that what I sat there and watched didn't happen and that I must not have been in my right mind. Just keep the money you were able to get out of us for doing nearly nothing and move on to the next sap. If you have pets, you'll probably have a need for an emergency vet sometime. My advice is to call and talk to a few when your pet isn't sick to see how they do business and whether you feel comfortable with their qualifications before you need them. It'll help you avoid wasting your time and money like we did. But maybe I'm just being frantic. read more

I took my dog in the middle of the night who was experiencing seizures. The team was very nice and attentive but jumped quickly into treatment without a baseline assessment. There were unnecessary treatments administered and recommended. The unnecessary treatments added about $200 to my bill and had I agreed to the X-rays that would have been $550 more. When going to my regular vet the next day they said what VEG was trying to accomplish with the X-ray they were able to by just listening with a stethoscope to her lungs. The whole experience seemed chaotic, I would not recommend for emergency services. $75 just to take one blood pressure reading - really? read more

They were great. They took care of a foster dog ihad brought in from another emergency clinic because I was not quite satisfied with his care there after emergency abdominal surgery. They were proactive in taking over his care. He finally had bloodwork taken which had not been done. And they treated him for pain which had not been done either after surgery. They picked up on fluid accumulating in his stumach, put an ng tube in and took care of that till it quit. He is now slowly recovering at my home with appropriate medication and care. Veterinary Emergency Group has a culture of confirmation bias. Dr Rusch's diagnosed my dog as having problems with his spine after I had told him he had eaten backyard mushrooms. He never listened to me and instead ordered x-rays that disproved him, yet doubled down on his diagnosis. When I brought this up to the medical director, I was once again told that not only did he not do anything wrong, but the mushrooms that my dog ate from the backyard do not grow here. Once again confirmation bias. They never checked my dogs dilated eyes, and never offered a solution to the actual issue, Instead leading me to believe there was something wrong with him neurologically which led me down a very dark path, because I cannot afford a neurologist for my dog. All that matters to the doctors of VEG is getting your money, not treating your animals. You should beware of this place. It's appalling and upsetting that a business like this is allowed to operate that preys on people when they are in dire need of emergency care for their animals. I am not happy with the service provided and even less happy with the company as a whole. Take your business elsewhere if you care about your animal or wish not to be flim flammed. read more

I cannot express how highly I recommend this ER vet. I foster for a rescue and have had to make a couple of ER trips in the past, and this ER FAR SURPASSES others in the area. But last night was for my resident kitten - he managed to get his toenail caught in some mesh netting on a soft sided carrier, tore his pinky toe such that he exposed the tendon and broke his pinky toe. We got there at 9pm and before midnight, he had been seen, evaluated, treatment plan agreed upon, and had surgery. We were home by midnight with our loopy baby, medications, and the comfort that he was in the best hands. THANK YOU, VEG TEAM! I will never go to another ER Vet. read more

I could not recommend this facility more if I wanted to. We thought my puppy had swallowed a battery so I came running in like a crazy person scared to death. They were so kind and calm, and every single person there was friendly, helpful and understanding. We were so lucky she in fact had not swallowed it and they were quick to get the X-ray complete to let us know. The facility was so clean and organized. The open floor plan made me feel so much better because we could see our pup and knew that every animal there was being well taken care of and loved. I hope we never have to return, unless it's to pop in to hi, but in the event another emergency happens, this will always be the first stop.
