Unfortunately, Bailey is not a candidate for treatment, however, Dr. prescribed an anti inflammatory which I gave last night and today she is peppy and her eye is not as swollen. all I want is her to be comfortable with her remaining time with us and I appreciate the kindness and knowledge of Dr. Kozicki. I brought my dog to BluePearl Pet Hospital during a very difficult time, and unfortunately the experience added to the stress. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I arrived, I was not greeted and had to approach another staff member for assistance even though they were not occupied.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Throughout the visit, communication from the veterinarian felt cold and lacked empathy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked what they would recommend if it were their own pet, I did not receive a clear or helpful answer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] During one of the most difficult moments, while we were grieving and saying goodbye, the demeanor in the room felt inappropriate and not aligned with the seriousness of the situation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we returned with our other dog to say goodbye, we were allowed to spend as much time as we needed, which I appreciated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, we were given a final price in the room that later increased at the register, which was frustrating and added confusion during an already emotional time. My mom's beloved dog has a heart condition and it got to the point where her regular vet recommended a cardiologist. Based on appointment availability we landed at BluePearl about 2 years ago. I'm glad we did, though! Every 6 months the girl has to go for a ultrasound and possible echo to monitor her heart and make sure it's not worsening. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've gone with my mom to several of these appointments, including taking her solo to one today and everyone here has been lovely to work with.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the receptionists checking us in, the techs taking care of our dear girl, the doctor coming in to explain the results and tell us next steps (she was stable this visit. YAY!), and the clerks checking us out, they've all been lovely and made us feel comfortable and reassured.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Prices, like others have said, are a little steep. But specialists in general are pricey so I don't feel like it's going to me much different if you go somewhere else. Also, I don't quite feel like they're upcharging us on anything. Even just today they didn't do the echo because the first two tests came back stable. That saved us several hundred dollars that they could have possibly charged us for. Words can't describe how thankful I am of the critical care team, and everyone we encountered during our time here with our baby. Dr. Christopher Chess attempted to aggressively coerce us to allow him to take and euthanize my cat because he wasn't responding to staff members positively. Dr. Chess was told that the cat has separation anxiety and does not trust unfamiliar people alongside being ill and dehydrated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After we adamantly refused to allow the forcefully suggested euthanasia, he berated and insulted both me and a family member for several straight minutes, calling us cruel, foolish, and evil and insisting he knew my cat better than I did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The level of pushiness with which Dr. Chess tried to force the euthanasia on us and the commercial-esque way he advertised the clinic and euthanasia "service" during this conversation was sickening, almost as if he had a vested interest in killing our pet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]During this conversation Dr. Chess refused to be bothered to pronounce the cat's name (Tolstoy, not an exotic name) properly even after being corrected not once but 4 times, and insisted that we could probably not afford continued medical care (without knowing anything about our financial status) and attempted to confuse us with medical terminology, but unsuccessfully so because I'm also in the (human) medical field.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Facility front desk staff were rude, disinterested, and wholly lacking in decorum (with the exception of one very kind and helpful vet tech)[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We were left waiting for an extended period of time with no information on when we could see the cat or when (or if) a vet would look in on him, and the exam room we were left in was not particularly clean nor well-stocked. The IV fluids were finally given as we requested. We signed our cat out of the clinic AMA and brought him home. 5 days later, our boy is full of life, cheerful, alert, and his bodily functions are working as normal. He has regained both his voracious appetite and his attitude. Allowing Dr. Chess to prematurely end his life would have been unforgivable. As expected, this clinic was also overpriced. We were charged $65 for a blanket that our cat happened to be wrapped in when the vet tech handed him back to us, $200 for the above-mentioned egregiously unprofessional "consultation" and $15 to put a urine-soiled towel in a biohazard bag, and another $15 undisclosed surcharge for paying by card, and more. Insult to injury. Horrible experience. Do not take your animals to this facility. read more

They made no effort to contact our primary vet to access said x-rays. After a 3-minute cursory look at our dog's leg the Dr. told us to go home and live our lives and if our dog comes up lame again to make another appointment. We left Blue Pearl with our dog limping out of the center. What a joke! $195 for what? No care, no compassion, just business. read more

Our cat Katie was recently admitted to the Blue Pearl ICU in Southfield, and we are so grateful for the care she received. We first took her to the Blue Pearl ER in Auburn Hills, where the ER veterinarian was wonderful--thorough, compassionate, and explained everything clearly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They recommended hospitalization and even arranged a direct transfer to Southfield so we could bypass the ER there, which made the process much smoother.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We used to go to OVRS, but Katie never did well there--she has always been a sweet, gentle cat, but at OVRS she became so stressed that she even bit someone the day before, something that had never happened at any other ER or vet's office. It always felt like they were too busy and overworked. That experience made us decide to switch, even though Blue Pearl is further away. It was the best decision we could have made. At Southfield, Katie was hospitalized under the care of internists and specialists. The doctors were very thorough, and the technicians were absolutely amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Every morning and evening, they sent us thoughtful updates with photos of Katie--such a comforting touch during a stressful time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were encouraged to call as often as we wanted, and every time the staff was kind, patient, and never made us feel rushed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They also allowed us to visit her, which really helped.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Because of this experience, we are now switching Katie's care from OVRS to Blue Pearl. Their professionalism, compassion, and dedication to both pets and their families is truly outstanding. AVOID THIS ANIMAL HOSPITAL I went here because my cat was experiencing some serious gastrointestinal issues; straining to use the bathroom, diarrhea, and lots of vomiting. She's has this issue before and I usually would just wait until the morning to take her into my regular vet, but began panting and crying out in pain so I knew I had to take her in right then. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called Blue Pearl around 11:30 pm to make sure my cat would be seen. They told me that I could bring her in and she would be seen since no one else was there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I brought her in around midnight. Unfortunately, an elderly dog came in after me and was evidently determined to be a higher priority. I understand that he may have been a higher priority, however, the vet tech, who took a while to even come in and see us, briefly examined my cat (honestly didn't really do anything except take her temperature) and then said the vet would be in to see her, suggesting it would be a short wait. After about an hour and a half, I inquired at the front desk how much longer the wait would be and they said several hours. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After previously leading me to believe I would receive relatively fast service (for an animal ER), I was completely left in the dark about the timeline. There was no communication whatsoever which is incredibly disrespectful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I understand if another animal is deemed a priority, but, considering my cat was clearly in severe pain (and could've been experiencing a major blockage), the level of concern for her was nonexistent. Furthermore, since I was fairly certain of what the problem was, I asked if she could just be given some anti-nausea medication to tide her over until she could be seen. They said no and that I would have to wait the several hours until the vet examined her. They gave me no further information as to what would take several hours other than that another animal was deemed a higher priority. I would also like to question what would happen if more than one animal needed immediate emergency care? It's extremely disappointing and quite frankly disgusting the way they treated my poor cat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Had they informed me that the wait time had changed, I would have made the decision a lot sooner to take her home, where she would feel much more comfortable, and book a morning appointment with my regular vet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Instead the left me in the dark. Had I not questioned the wait time, I would have been sitting there for hours while my poor cat continued to vomit and cry. I would never recommend anyone take their pet here. Terrible service, no empathy, horrible communication, and they clearly upcharge everything knowing a pet owner, who is obviously taking his or her pet in because they believe it is a dire emergency, will have to pay for the service. The vets and staff are great, but this place is seriously understaffed and crazy expensive. In July I came in here with a cat that was partially paralyzed and had to wait 7 hours before I saw a vet. Tonight, I tried calling 3 times - waited on hold for 10+ minutes each time before I gave up and just came in - assuming that is what they were going to tell me anyway. (Blood in the urine). So far I have been waiting 5 hours. Plus the 30 minutes on hold at home. Nobody provides updates, nobody checks on you. If you need anything you need to go to the desk. I try not to take my frustration out on the staff here, they are doing their best. But if your pet isn't immediately emergent, prepare for a wait. read more

It took me a while to write this review because it was so traumatic. I made the near fatal mistake of leaving my fur baby in the car parked in the garage attached to our home in the summertime. I took a nap and could not find my baby in the house and then I ran to the car realizing it was the only place I had not checked. I called 911 with no assistance I guess because she is a dog but to me she was just as important in my head as any human. I called my son who gears on his car were grinding because he has not even put his car in park to help. My baby was no longer a fur baby but was covered in what I can only describe as slime. She was panting hard and her body was limp to the point I could only try to grab her as she kept slipping from my hands. A neighbor ran out to help after hearing my screams we packed her with frozen vegetables and ice. It was no easy task calling frantically to try to find a health facility to take her because it was after 7 pm. We found one. Thank God!! My son drove to Blue pearl in Southfield we paced we waited they gave us updates and about 5 hours maybe 6 time escaped me: My baby Mahogany came walking out looking as if nothing happened. But it did. I dealt with the shame and pain I caused her but I am so thankful to the staff and doctors all the way to the receptionists. They were so kind and supportive. They never treated me like a bad mom. They just took charge to save my baby's life. She fully recovered and now I don't care what I have to get out my care I get my Mahogany out first. The bill was around $1700. I could have left her in the hospital for observation but my son took care of her while I had to work. This hospital was amazing in their care of my dog and never made me feel the shame I felt on myself. They kept one the most important and beautiful pieces of my life alive. She is my 3rd baby. I recently took my small Shih Tzu (Hugo) in to be treated for a dog attack by a Pit bull. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vet and technician (Lily) were great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were very thorough, explained the procedure and options clearly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What I did not like was the arrogant manner of Wade at the billing desk.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I told him that the vet informed me she had over-charged me for a procedure she had mistakenly added to my bill and that I would be receiving a refund. He responded in an egotistical manner that what I had paid was merely a deposit, so no refund would be coming back. I paid over $1660 that night. That was no deposit! A deposit is usually 10-20% of your bill. He was mistaken and $59 was refunded to my bill. read more

We've been waiting for 5 hours for them to give our cat activated charcoal for a poisoning, which we found out just now was something we could have done for him ourselves from the beginning for a fraction of the cost. I never thought I'd have to write a review about a pet's passing, but here it is. I've never had to go to an emergency vet until yesterday when my cat of 13 years fell ill after my regular vet was closed for the weekend. She was having a medical emergency and needed to be seen immediately. (this was on a Saturday afternoon mind you.) I had called around to a few different emergency vets and even though the Blue Pearl's location off Walton was closer, I was referred to this one because the one in Auburn Hills was full and not taking new animals. I was scared, and had called ahead about my cat's condition. They said if it's not deemed an emergency, it could be a 6 to 8 hour wait before getting to be seen. They told me that they will take the animal back to be evaluated to determine the severity and then assess what level emergency it is. Being that both my cat and I were stressed, I knew I needed immediate medical attention. I did the drive to Southfield from rochester hills and checked into their front desk upon arrival. They whisked puddy back for an eval, and I stayed in the lobby while they figured out what was going on. they had a seperate feline room for those of us with cats, and a large clean lobby area. I filled out some paperwork and went over with both the receptionist and vet tech about what was going on. After a short period of time, they deemed her a critical emergency and brought me back to a private room. They did some blood tests on her and tried to do their best with treatment to get her stable again. When the vet came in to go over results, we knew it was bad. She was young, but knowledgeable and professional while still being compassionate about the seriousness of the situation. We determined that it was time to cross the rainbow bridge, and went over a few more things to make it comfortable for the both the cat and I. They offer a variety of options for Euthanasia, from burying your cat at home to providing your pets ashes after cremation. They do give you a free clay paw print with your pets name on it in a leather bound frame. While I got as much time as I needed in my cats last few moments, they let me have some alone time to say goodbye. A doorbell was placed in the room to signal the vet when I was ready. Even though I was quite the emotional train wreck during all of this, the staff helped me keep focused and stayed on track. While its the hardest thing I've had to do in a long time, I felt comforted that I was making the best decision for my pet. She lived a good long life and it was time to go. Vet care isn't cheap, but when an emergency happens, you need immediate care. Now, my review would've been much different if I had to wait 6 hours, but I had a legit emergency and it could've gone many different ways. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vet we saw on January 3 2026 was not compassionate at all.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] we brought our dog in because of extreme limping and knuckling of front paw. Our regular vet had been treating her for arthritis and had her on pain meds but she was really in pain when we brought her in. The vet at Blue Pearl did not check her just looked at her leg from a seated position and said the shoulder was swollen and looked like bone cancer. After X-rays and radiology report she comes in and says the only thing to do is amputate the leg and do chemo. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No kindness or softness in the delivery of this news.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I understand the vets in ER are super busy, see lots of awful things and are burnt out emotionally but think about the way you are delivering heartbreaking news about a family member and also think how you would feel if you were in our shoes! After two emergency vet. visits (different location) in the last week, my family vet. recommended that we get an ultrasound of my dog's abdomen. She did warn that it will be difficult to get a quick appointment, as several internal medicines were booking months out. Still, she provided me with a list of emergency veterinarians to try. After no luck with the first three I called, BluePearl of Southfield initially told me they are booking out into June/July for ultrasounds. I did ask about "emergency" ones, as they label themselves as an "emergency" veterinarian. It's literally plastered on their building. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The receptionist said they do take emergency ones, on a walk-in basis, Tuesdays-Fridays starting at 8:00am. When I asked if I could then just come tomorrow (Friday), she said I could. She even went as far as to tell me to get there early, between 7am-8am, and expect to wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Getting there at 7 would get me on the list, and I would be able to get an ultrasound between other appointments. I asked then if I should get there earlier? She said she thought 7am would be just fine to get on the list. I confirmed that they had Wi-Fi and told her I would bring my laptop and work while I wait she said "yes, a lot of people choose to do that actually." The following day, I woke up at 5am, got my dog packed and ready and we arrived to BluePearl at 6:45am to check-in, stating what I was told. "I am here for a walk-in ultrasound of my dog's abdomen and was told to get here at 7am to get on the list." [[HIGHLIGHT]]Around 8:00am, a vet. tech called me back. While the rest of this review will be negative, I have to pause to say that the tech was so genuinely nice, and compassionate. He's the only redeeming quality of this location that we experienced, and it would be unfair to not acknowledge that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Anyways, we went through the full medical history before a different tech came in to tell me we would not be able to do an ultrasound today because all of the ultrasound slots have been filled by appointments and emergency visits. I told her what I was told by their receptionist, and that I was the first one in the waiting room this morning, so I'm not sure how all the slots are already full. She said that other people's veterinarians called in --and mine didn't. I advised again that, had I been told that my vet needed to call, she would have-- as she was the one who referred me to this place in the first place. Not once did this person apologize. She instead told me that my veterinarian works for an office owned by the same company and should've known that she needed to call-- that there would not be an ultrasound today. I asked for a manager. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The manager was just as cold and callus as the prior vet. tech, and did not once apologize for the misunderstanding or miscommunication on their part.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She reiterated that there would not be an ultrasound today, but I should stick around for a consult and they can go from there. I told her I have already had multiple consults for my dog and I understand he needs an ultrasound. Would the consult lead to even a slight chance of an ultrasound or are we really not going to even have an opportunity? She said she could not answer that. Her tone did not change and I did question if she even has pets with her clear disregard for the situation her staff put us in. She said she would look into it but nobody should guarantee an appointment. I said ok, but what does that get us? I could've called every vet. in the state of MI yesterday to find someone that actually gave a damn.. but was assured BluePearl would conduct the ultrasound. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ultimately, we left without the consult as it was clear the staff is there merely for a paycheck and have lost their compassion along the way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the way out, the first (and great) vet. tech I mentioned came over to me to give me my labwork back and APOLOGIZE on behalf of the staff. He took ownership for the miscommunication, said it was their fault, and that he was sorry it didn't work out for us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He handled it the way the other two should've. We had to take our dog in for urgent care, and were very stressed about his condition. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From check-in to treatment, each one of the staff members was compassionate and professional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The facility is spotless and the care we received was outstanding. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our wait time was only a few minutes, and the team had answers and information about what was happening with our dog and clearly explained what needed to be done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Yes, the visit was pricey, but we expected it to be much more and would gladly have paid it. Absolutely worth every penny and would highly recommend Blue Pearl to anyone experiencing an emergency with their pet! They said we could keep him on drugs and maybe surgery, or let him go as he would die soon anyway. So we let him go. They were very kind. Extremely kind. I have never left a review before, but I feel compelled to express my displeasure and frustration with this animal hospital. We took our cat in on Friday of Memorial weekend because our cat peed on himself. Obviously, we were very concerned for our cat. They ordered $1,200 worth of tests and a urinalysis to be sent out to a lab. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fast forward over 2 weeks later and we are unable to get a call from the doctor giving us our results. We have called 5x now and the staff continue to send the doctor requests to give us a call to give us our results and tell us if anything is wrong with the urinalysis results.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have the results, the doctor just cannot be bothered to review them and give us a call. When asked if another doctor can review the lab results, we are told that other doctors are usually uncomfortable reviewing lab results of other doctors' patients. So, now we are over 2 weeks out from our emergency visit and still cannot get the doctor on the phone to review the results with us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was impressed with the front office staff and the vet technicians, but our experience with their doctor staff has been deplorable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will never be visiting this clinic again. I went to blue pearl previously because my doberman had a suspected blockage even though we told them his history and that he threw up a large fabric piece earlier that morning. they charged us a crazy amount for x-rays and tests and gave us a total estimate of $4800-$5600 for a surgery which we were told if it is less complicated it would be on the lower end. We were debating on doing the surgery bc both the ultrasound and x-rays weren't showing anything and while we were trying to discuss whether or not we should after taking him home and hearing the results [[HIGHLIGHT]]the front desk says we needed to "hurry up and make a decision" because their surgeon was about to leave for the day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] No compassion at all when understanding that this is a pretty big expense and that a surgery is a risky option when it's possible there isn't anything wrong. So we panic and say we will do the surgery. Fast forward to picking him up and the vet tells us he didn't have a blockage. so we are out $ and had to put our dog through surgery for nothing. Then the topper to all of this is when they charge us the top end of the quote to which i responded to " i thought the range was because of complications...if you didn't even find anything in him how is it the high range?" And they basically said it is what it is....also this was 5 days before Christmas. This was two years ago and I still tell everyone I know to never go here. I'm writing this review now because my doberman actually had a blockage and i took him to a different animal hospital that charged $2500, actually found a blockage and was compassionate and understanding the whole time. The vet spent less than 10 minutes with me. They did the test they said they were going to do but then they said they really needed to do MORE testing. And if I wanted to find out a treatment plan they would need to do more testing I hadn't planned on which was an additional $1,100. The vet techs wS very nice, Deanna. But the doctor hands you a piece of paper and ask you to read it, says he will call you about the additional testing and goes on to the next patient, not enough explanation of the test compared to the cost of them. ... well I'm sure they're fully capable of helping your little fur baby, they should be ashamed of themselves for taking advantage of people who care so deeply for their little family members! My baby suddenly went blind, and I was told this was a good veterinary care facility to go to. My little baby was taken away away from me for testing. The test were not explained. I was only told by the doctor that he had cataracts. There was not really any care in how it was explained, and I was told somebody would be in with a treatment plan in which I was handed an estimate of over $10,000. I had already done my homework ahead of time and had made the assumption without somebody telling me that my little baby had cataracts which caused total blindness. The normal cost for the surgery according to my research was anywhere between $4000-$6000. I was smart enough to do some good and went to veterinary care. What a world of difference!! Not only did they allow me to be in the same room with my little when they did the testing, but they explained what they were doing and afterwards the doctor came out the actual surgeon and spent a good 40 minutes with me and continually asked me if I had more questions. They showed a great deal of care. I think it is just terrible that Blue Pearl - #1 - showed as little care as they did for the little guy and, #2 simply came presented a $10,000 did a follow up call absolutely awful! read more

While the staff is professional and very caring, I never had an experience with a cat at an emergency vet this poor. With many cats that I had to bring to at least 4 others over almost 30 years, I have the background to judge. I had to bring my 17 year old baby in after she moaned, was shaking, and trouble walking far. I called a vet that I used 20 years ago last when I lived in the area but Covid-19 was closing them. They recommend this vet. I got there about 3:30 pm. Since my cat was still breathing, I had to wait for her to be seen. Yes, it was the Friday after Thanksgiving, but with what happened you think some one on staff could get her in a room and check her. After an hour, I could bring her in. But did that get her treated? No, just tested with a battery of test that told about her being a 17 year old cat. I have had at least 5 live that long so I know what their normal problems are and in fact she was in better shape than others. Kept informing me of the cost and even after I thought I gave the go ahead for some treatment, she didn't even get an IV to help her. Maybe some pain meds. What did all the testing and no real treatment cost - $904. If I wanted her treated over night, it would be $2,000. They wanted to keep her for 2-3 days for $4,000. Light I have money to light on fire. Did get antibiotics and pain med. I had asked about antibiotic shots I could give her like my old Monroe vet gave me a few times, but crickets at the other end of the phone. They did give me an IV bag to give her fluids myself!!! Over the next 10 days. Luckily, Boo is typical of the 17 year old cat I have had, a day on the antibiotic and light eating, she is almost back to normal. They kept explaining that they are a specialty vet. Like I never took a cat to one of those. I will line up another emergency vet just in case. As I left around 11 pm with my cat, I knocked on the window of a vehicle that had been there as long as I to wish them a good outcome, the lady told me about her pet and how it got the same lack of treatment while waiting so the HUGE estimate of treatment was prepared and discussed. She had found an emergency vet ready to treat and least than half the price. I hope that pet made it. read more

Everyone I interacted with was so kind and patient in explaining things to me, and took great care of my babies. Unfortunately, I had to say goodbye to a pet there and the staff was so compassionate and nurturing. The vet took time to sit with me and explain what was going on, and all the techs were so gentle and kind. Another poster said it clearly - it is a money grab. How do I know? 1. The doctors do exams and then leave. A technician comes into the room later with a massive proposal for treatment and limited knowledge about the course of treatment. This is a classic sales technique. Vet hides. Techs are "closers". 2. They grossly overcharge for testing. Simple tests that I have had done for years elsewhere were outrageous. 3. I took my dog there twice. Both doctors identified the likely cause but refused to treat it properly without thousands of dollars in additional tests. I took my dog home for a 2nd opinion by my usual vet. My normal vet looked that the initial test results, and prescribed the exact medicine that the Bluepearl vets indicated that they would prescribe (but only after thousands in tests) My dog is healthy now because my normal vet used professional judgment and available results without soaking me for more tests. Bluepearl let my dog suffer needlessly for extra time. 4. I was referred to Bluepearl for an Ultrasound. When I booked appointment, they said $675 for an ultrasound and about $300 for an appointment with internal medicine specialist. My dog had the ultrasound. They gave my dog back with his entire belly covered in ultrasound gel. For a $675 test, they can't take 2 minutes to clean the dog off? I unknowingly picked up the dog and had to sit there with my hands, pants, and shirt covered in ultrasound gel. No consideration for the dog or me while I waited. They were sloppy and unprofessional. Bluepearl is a large corporation - only concerned about money. In my opinion, they overcharge and underserve. read more

My dog has been a patient at BluePearl for a number of years. He is a complicated case and I feel as though I get the personalized care I/He needs. They not only care about how he is doing but also how we as a family are doing. They understand that having a pet with multiple medical conditions can be difficult for the family and do their part to help relieve some of the stress. They are willing to answer any questions that come up between appointments. His doctors and technicians kept me up to date on his progress and even sent pictures while he was in the hospital which helped to calm our nerves. We are fortunate to have pet insurance that covers most of his care. If you are getting a new pet or even if you already have one PLEASE look into pet insurance, it takes the financial decisions out of the equation. The staff at BluePearl is willing to submit the bill for payment or reimbursment if I remember to ask them. We have Trupanion, not sure if they do this with other insurance companies or not. UPDATE: Do not go here, they will deny any wrongdoing and never own up to their mistakes. When my dog needed to go to the er THEY DO NOT ANSWER. When you call and leave messages and call and call again THEY WILL LIE TO COVER THEMSELVES. When your regular vet calls because your pet is dying before their very eyes THEY WILL NOT ANSWER AND THEY WILL LIE LIE LIE THAT THEY RECEIVED NO CALL. Our vet of over ten years would not EVER tell us she called if she didn't follow through. We trust her implicitly. But BluePearl? Do not ever EVER trust these people. Our dog's condition progressed severely and could have been caught much earlier if this office had simply picked up a phone to speak to our vet. We will be searching for every avenue to report this practice. I could NOT in good conscience advise you to take your pet here for oncology services. They are great while your pet is in the treatment phase, but the second our radiology course was completed we ceased to exist to them. We have had multiple tumors appear elsewhere since our dog's first treatment, and have repeatedly tried to reach BluePearl for advice and records. We have called over and over. Our regular vet has tried directly calling for records and information. BluePearl HAS NOT ANSWERED OR RETURNED A SINGLE CALL. Not to us, and not even to our veterinarian. Brought my dog in for an emergency after being attacked by multiple dogs. Called ahead to make sure there was room and when we arrived we waited over two hours with no explanation. No one came out to check my dog who was actively bleeding from a large laceration. When we inquired about how long the wait would be, we were met with rudeness from the front desk and still no one to check on my dog who was in distress, still bleeding, and couldn't close his mouth from his lip being stuck in his tooth. After calling another vet down the street, they were appalled our dog hadn't even been seen yet and told us to run as fast as we could to them. Be warned, do not waste your time here! Horrible experience. My dog came here with an emergency laceration. After two hours, a technician still had not seen our dog and the blonde office worker at the front desk was so incredibly rude to me after asking for a timeline of when our dog would be seen. After two hours we had to find another open hospital as our dogs condition was declining and no help in sight. Do not waste your time. read more

Very good experience!! After dealing with another veterinarian who wanted to do exploratory surgery on my dog we went to BluePearl for a second opinion and had an ultrasound. He did not need surgery just some medication for his stomach. After spending over $4000 at the last two veterinarian offices I was relieved when they didn't try to over charge or scare me with possible doomsday scenarios! I've been reading some of the negative reviews and felt I needed to write this one. Even though I recently lost my two cats, 6 weeks apart from each other, I used this specialized hospital for both of them for testing and diagnosing that my primary vet could not provide. Is it expensive? Yes, but sometimes this is what happens when you decide to have a pet and it gets sick. Dr. Caitlin Barry-Heffernan was both of my cat's primary care vet when I had to bring them in. Both her and the staff were nothing but thorough, kind and upfront with me. I ultimately had to make that final decision that further medicine and tests were not going to make them better. But I have peace of mind knowing that I did everything I could. I could have spent more money to keep my boy Binx alive for another 3 months (cancer) and mentioned this to Dr. Barry-Heffernan that I did not want to prolong this any further and she was totally on board with my decision. If I would have wanted to keep him going, she would have been good with that too. You see, the final decision is ultimately the up to the owner, the doctor just guides you through it all. Prior the seeing Dr. Caitlin Barry-Heffernan with a scheduled appointment, I did have to use the ER for one of my cats. Because she wasn't breathing well they took her back "stat". You need to be told before hand that there is typically a wait time between 4-8hrs, obviously we are bringing our pets in for an Emergency. The Least you can do is come back, check on your patients, maybe see if your "SEIZING" panting pet could use some water.... NOTHING. Nothing for 4 hours, it wasn't until I stopped a worker to ask what's is taking so long that I found out about a 4hr + wait time to be seen.
