I was sent pictures, such as this one twice a day to put my mind at ease. My family looked forward to these texts.

MedVet is the gold standard when you need hospital /specialized care for your pet! My 15.5 year old girl Abbey was throwing up, not eating nor drinking. Turned out to be pancreatitis. She was hospitalized at MedVet and they took such good care of her. I so appreciated the twice daily picture texts to put me at ease. I also went for a visit to help build her morale. Very grateful for all staff there.

I Brought my Frenchie in for an aural hematoma . I called before hand & they sent paperwork for me to fill out / checkin before arrival. When I walked in staff greeted him by name based off the description that I gave on paperwork. This made him so excited. The staff was extremely friendly for the most part, there was a Dr there in the beginning that didn't have much enthusiasm but I'm going to chalk it up as she had a long day, before overall she was very knowledgeable. My fur baby end up having same day surgery and was in and out in a couple of hours . When I arrived there was a different doctor that came to brief me & gave follow up instructions on everything, also very knowledgeable and she was welcoming! My baby came home better & has been resting/ recovering peacefully today! FYI: prices are high (but that's to be expected in an emergency facility) . Thank you all for taking care of my baby & helping him feel better!

Don't see Dr. MORGAN she told us we had to put our boy down. Boy was she wrong. Here he is 3 weeks later. Totally misdiagnosed him .

Beware if Dr Morgan. She misdiagnosed our boy. Told us he had to be euthanized. She was wayyy wrong. Here he is 3 weeks later. Shame on you Dr Morgan!

If I could give this place less than one star I would Please read the reviews of the kitten we had who died as a consequence of med vet not treating her as an emergency that she was They had her a small kitten who had persistent diarrhea for 5days straight long enough for me to make it home before they called to tell me I could pick her up again and she was fine just needed probiotics if things were to get worse to bring her back free of charge Upon arriving to be seen I was made to wait for the emergency even though I thought this was weird for an emergency I understood Upon arriving to get her I over hear workers telling other owners that "they are sorry about the kitten" *MY KITTEN WHO WAS CRYING IN PAIN BECAUSE SHE WAS DYING* Well two days later ria started to DIE and what happened when I call? I'm told they are too busy?! Ok no I'm frantically looking for another place Thank god Oakland veterinary referral services took us on as an actual emergency and while our kitten did wind up dying after two days of around the clock treatment From going in to sepsis she was treated like a living animal she was loved and they had a diagnosis of coccidia in under an hour of having her I'm happy we have answers Even the vet who worked on her cried actual tears that this was missed while humanly putting ria to sleep This was not the first time using med vet I picked med vet because I had been to them in the past for another animal emergency I went in with 10k to spend if it was needed Money was not the problem The problem was professionalism / handling the emergency that was at hand and dismissing it So thank you med vet for not only NOT properly doing your job but for also taking my few hundred dollars without batting an eye to see my dying animal for all of 57 minutes before sending her on her way to die than not holding your word and seeing her again when she was on the brink of death 48 hours later I've talked with people who have worked here and customers that can't say they are surprised I just hope my review can possibly save another animal in need I made the wrong choice in who I decided to trust and I paid the price literally And so did ria I decided to wait before making this review to have time to reach out (after my wedding in august) to the person I knew who had worked here and the two friends I knew who have also been here as well I didn't want to post in the hear of everything happening but it has been five/six months since loosing ria and I think that it an adequate amount of time to wait and let emotions simmer before making such a post

    Entrance Covid precautions in place

It's a long drive for us, but my dogs are family and worth every mile. It's a great feeling when the specialist tells you that your dog is going to be just fine. Because of COVID Restrictions I haven't been able to go inside, but staff and doctor interactions have been great.

The card I received from the office staff.

I brought my deceased cat to this office who unexpectedly passed away. The staff was friendly and we're expecting me when I arrived. They allowed my family and I to spend as much time with him and were very sympathetic. Thank you MedVet Commerce.

The convenient online Qtrac checkin and subsequent text communications avoided sitting around in an ER waiting room for hours. I knew exactly what was going on at all times and the visit summaries documented everything very well. We have now officially seen every tech, nurse, and doctor there, and each of them knocked my socks off. They acted with the highest level of care and compassion, and their way of discussing medical/technical topics is really unmatched from anywhere else we have been - and much less expensive than the ERs. Every time I left, I knew exactly what was done and exactly how to proceed with care when we got home, what to look for, and if needed, when I should come back or go to the ER. On Friday, Dr. Kate performed a second acupuncture treatment. I know a LOT about cat acupuncture now, and some herbal treatments that no other doctor had ever even mentioned before. She spoke fluently in these topics in a way that a beginner like me could easily understand. I left Friday knowing how long to wait for movement after the new herb before taking her back for an enema. That return visit the next day was fast and easy (at least it was for me) and Dr. G came out to counsel me on a couple other issues, too. I have never been rushed, I've always left with all of my questions answered and a path forward. I cannot say enough good things about Animal Urgent Center. I gave them a call and they said to bring her in right away. We got there and there were a few other emergencies they were dealing woth. I waited about a half hour and that was ok because Lola was in no major pain at that time. She was bleeding, but when your nail is ripped off, what do you expect? My one complaint was that they seemed almost too lax that Lola was getting blood all over. I was told not to worry that they would clean it up. We went back to the room, then vet came in right away and took and look, then shared the plan. They took her in back and 10 minutes later she came out woth her paw all cleaned and wrapped. I felt very happy with how clear the vet was in regards to the treatment and her care she was receiving. I could hear the staff in the back talking to her and comforting her as they gave care. They didn't try to get me to run extra tests or provide extra services so when it was time to checkout, the cost was half the price of the last time this happened and we took her to a different ER vet. It was such a relief as these times are tough. I was very happy with this place and will likely Make it our regular vet! Thank you!

If you are looking for a vet who will show compassion not only throughout your pet's life but also…read moreduring one of the hardest days you'll ever face, I encourage you to carefully consider your options. Based on our experience, I would recommend considering VCA BRIGHTON ANIMAL HOSPITAL before here. This review is not simply about the heartbreaking loss of our dog. It is about how this vet treated our family during one of the most difficult moments we have ever experienced. Our dog was a patient here for years. We adopted him as a senior dog, knowing his medical needs would likely increase with age. Throughout that time, we invested thousands of dollars to ensure he had the best quality of life possible, only because we understood that was the only option. During the final months of his life, we were at this clinic monthly, if not more often. Everyone knew our dog. As his condition declined, getting him into a vehicle became extremely difficult. We made the painful decision to provide him with a peaceful, in-home euthanasia through a hospice service. We elected to have his cremated remains delivered to Towne & Country for pickup because the hospice provider routinely works with this clinic. When we called Towne & Country to ask if his ashes had arrived, we were told they had not and that we would be contacted when they did. After following up directly with the crematory, we were shocked to learn that Towne & Country had REJECTED delivery. The crematory informed us that when they contacted the clinic to clarify, they were given a "hard no." Unable to understand why this would happen, I drove to the vet in person. I was told that because our dog had not been euthanized by Towne & Country, they would not accept delivery of his ashes, even though he had been an established patient there for years and had received extensive treatment from this practice throughout the final chapter of his life. At a time when compassion should matter most, this response was devastating. We were already grieving the loss of our beloved dog, and instead of being met with empathy, we were left scrambling to figure out how we were going to bring him home one last time. To make matters worse, while I was visibly upset trying to understand the situation, a member of the front desk staff laughed at my reaction. This experience also reflected a broader pattern that we experienced during our dog's care there. When we sought a second opinion, Towne & Country was unwilling to send his medical records to another veterinary practice. Every pet owner deserves the ability to seek another professional opinion without added obstacles. I understand that every veterinary practice has policies. However, policies should never come at the expense of compassion, communication, or basic empathy, especially for long-standing clients experiencing profound loss. A simple conversation or willingness to help us navigate the situation would have made all the difference. This experience permanently changed how I view this practice. Losing a pet is painful enough. No family should have to endure additional heartbreak simply trying to bring their beloved companion home one last time. I rarely write negative reviews because I know every business can have an off day. Unfortunately, this was not a minor inconvenience, it was one of the most important moments of our lives, and Towne & Country failed us when compassion mattered most. VCA Brighton Animal Hospital was amazing. We wish we would've had his ashes brought there.

Gaslighting, manipulating and dominating. Just because someone wears a title it does not make them a normal person. Laura L. is VERY controlling and if you do not kiss her butt she will dump your pets with no thought of how this may affect them. A serious pet lover would never do this to your dog. She left ours with no post treatment because we would not refer to her as Dr. and called her by her first name in an email. She got seriously narcissistically injured by this and other things as well. No time for fools. They just really do not care about you or your pets. Its all about their EGO and $$$. We were shocked that this happened at this practice. We had high hopes but we are very disappointed in this vet. Nice front desk staff though. Gotta give some of them kudos! The problem with so many people today is they want blind trust and don't think they have to earn it. They do this and need to move quickly so you can't see how phony they are. It is a set up you want to avoid. These are our pets we are talking about. Screwed up people have no business near our pets! Always standing like Dr. Evil rubbing the bottom lip with the thumb and forefinger trying to come up with the next manipulation tactic. I do not want somebody this sinister near my pets! I will admit I was SHOCKED but then again I see right through people. Been a target all my life and you cannot fool me. Nice try though! Really did our best to work with her. Even let a few red flags go by. Can't do that with these types. They escalate everything and they insist on full power & control. Not happening. We have a new vet the same day and are looking forward to moving on. Should have dumped her awhile back but we are just too nice at times. God rewards your patience with these types.

This place quoted up an estimate of $4500-$6500 so we quickly rushed over there. The total ended up being around $7000 for the surgery but were advised not to do the surgery. They stated they were taking my dog back for vitals but put a cone on him and did many other things without our permission, caused him a lot of distress in his final moments (he pooped all over nervously which would have been better if we could be with him). The surgeon when telling us the sad news that we'd need to put him down wasn't just blunt or "telling us the worst case scenario," she was overdramatizing it and genuinely cruel with her wording. I understanding needing to tell someone that it really is the best option to put down your dog, but there is are better ways than to tell them that he's probably going to go into cardiac arrest (which is incredibly rare) and that he only had a 20% chance it wasn't cancerous (it's closer to 30%-35%). She spoke really fast and was very gruesome with details that weren't necessary to share. The other nurse was much more realistic and told us that he would probably be just fine through surgery but because it's most likely cancerous, it would most likely be his last few months and he would probably be in pain when he could find comfort today through eternal rest. Vet Katie, who arrived on shift later right before we put him down, was incredibly kind, patient, and understanding. She allowed us to take as much time as we needed and even went the extra mile and found us an ink pad and paper to get a paw print with (they had stopped doing that through there a while ago). She comforted us with her words and could understand our pain with the recent passing of her dog at home. I really appreciated her and I hope she knows the positive impact she had in that situation. My 12 year old brittany had a procedure that makes him susceptible to pneumonia. Sure enough, when I got home from work last Friday, my baby wasn't eating, was lethargic, and had a temperature. I was given the option to keep Reno there, or to send him home with antibiotics. Given that he was stable, and not struggling to breathe, the veterinarian counseled that recovery at home was a viable option. I am happy to report that the next day, Reno had returned to his old self. We are continuing the antibiotics, and will see his regular vet in a week, but I expect he will make a full recovery. Yes, Veterinary Emergency Service West was expensive.
