I Brought my Frenchie in for an aural hematoma . I called before hand & they sent paperwork for me to fill out / checkin before arrival. When I walked in staff greeted him by name based off the description that I gave on paperwork. This made him so excited. The staff was extremely friendly for the most part, there was a Dr there in the beginning that didn't have much enthusiasm but I'm going to chalk it up as she had a long day, before overall she was very knowledgeable. My fur baby end up having same day surgery and was in and out in a couple of hours . When I arrived there was a different doctor that came to brief me & gave follow up instructions on everything, also very knowledgeable and she was welcoming! My baby came home better & has been resting/ recovering peacefully today! FYI: prices are high (but that's to be expected in an emergency facility) . On August 5th, I brought my 16-year-old cat MJ to MedVet for severe constipation, vomiting, and visible distress. I trusted this emergency facility to act quickly and appropriately in what was clearly an urgent situation. Instead, over two hours passed before treatment even began. The initial care plan included unnecessary blood work (which I declined), and when x-rays were finally taken, they were poorly positioned and created false concerns about a possible hernia and even a lung mass. Despite these red flags, MJ was discharged immediately after an enema, without even ten minutes of observation, though I specifically questioned whether monitoring was necessary. Within minutes of arriving home, MJ collapsed into crisis. He was drooling, straining, and his rectum was dangerously impacted. The emergency enema performed at MedVet had failed, and because he had not been observed, no one at MedVet witnessed this critical development. I rushed him to a local clinic, where he required an emergency deobstipation performed without anesthesia due to urgency, followed by a secondary enema and several hours of observation. Only then did his condition begin to stabilize, but it took him days to recover. The trauma he endured was not only heartbreaking but entirely preventable had MedVet acted with proper urgency and caution. This ordeal also created a significant and unnecessary financial burden. I incurred more than $1,200 in additional emergency expenses that I should never have had to pay. I was fully prepared to remain at MedVet with my work laptop for as long as needed to ensure MJ's safety, yet the staff insisted discharge without observation was "standard procedure." In reality, this choice placed my pet's life at risk and transferred responsibility - and costs - onto me when another clinic had to provide the true emergency care. When I raised these issues with MedVet's management, my concerns were dismissed outright. I was told that what occurred did not constitute malpractice, and that no refund would be provided. To justify this, the manager even claimed I had said I could not stay, which is simply untrue. I did everything possible to make myself available, but MedVet chose speed, dismissal, and denial over accountability and patient safety. The facts are undeniable: MedVet delayed care, failed to provide essential post-procedure observation, produced inadequate imaging that led to false concerns, and refused to take responsibility for the consequences. Because of these failures, my cat endured needless suffering, and I bore substantial costs. This experience demonstrates not just poor medical judgment but a lack of basic compassion and accountability. So this will be my 2nd review of MedVet Commerce, and just like my 1st review I'm so incredibly grateful of the staff! My almost 10yr old husky had been showing some signs that we assumed were "old age" sinking in for the past couple weeks, and we were mentally preparing ourselves that his time may be coming to an end sooner rather than later. This past weekend things took a drastic turn for the worst. My dog could not stand, could barely move, and his breathing was showing signs distress, and we knew something was wrong and that it was most likely his time. I called our regular Vet's office but they could not see him that day, and would not be able to see him for a week. So I my next call was to MedVet, they told me I could bring him right in and would be waiting for us. Once we arrived they assisted me to bring him in, and took him back fairly quickly. They took me and my family member to a very nice room, not a typical exam room. Shortly after they brought my dog to the room, told us when we were ready to push a doorbell type button and the doctor would come in. Dr. Miller was the doctor there and she was incredibly kind and compassionate to the situation, and informed us that my dog was suffering from a blood vessel tumor that had ruptured and was causing him to essentially bleed out internally. She let us know there was nothing that we could have done to prevent this from happening, and the cancer was an aggressive/volatile form. Obviously the only option was to euthanize at this point. She was so incredibly kind throughout the whole process, sadly I have done this with a few animals so knew the process but she still walked us through it and showed my dog love and tenderness through it all. They forced us to do a $800+ ultrasound in order to get a consult with the internist. We begrudgingly paid, then it turns out the "consult" was for the ER vet to talk to the internist. Seems quite scammy and that is not what we agreed to. I called their office several times to try to resolve this and they refused to offer a refund or any compromise. We asked if we could speak to the internist and they told us no, not even on the phone. They also added charges for x rays which we never approved or discussed. If we were paying for an ultrasound there was no need for x rays. On some days they did multiple blood tests on my dog in a day without our approval which we were also not refunded. The ER vet Dr. Politis is very new, arrogant and clueless. We would ask how our dog's bloodwork was and he would give us conflicting answers. I contacted their office at least 3 times to try to resolve this but they basically said they're sorry for the confusion but they wouldn't be issuing any refunds. read more

Consistent miscommunications with this vet means that we have to call over and over to make sure simple prescriptions are ordered. Customers should expect to either manage this vet to make sure each step in submitting a prescription is done as promised, or expect your dog to run out of pain, seizure, or other important medications -- so if you have a job which consumes a lot of your time which makes it difficult to really stay on top of and manage your veterinarian, and you need vet treatment, consider another provider. Example: dog has pain from severe hip displaysia, doctor requires blood draw and evaluation prior to making any pain prescriptions, so we do that and then pharmacy contacts veterinarian 4x to request prescription (all in my notes) and can never get confirmation to fill order. So I contact vet to ask for them to send prescription, they say that they can't prescribe this externally and must fill the script in their office. On another visit to MedVet they took my dog into their triage area but failed to effectively communicate that in doing so they would also prevent me from accessing my dog while in a lobby listening to her screaming in pain. I didn't have these issues prior to this outlet being purchased by MedVet, which leads me to wonder if the change of ownership may also have changed systems or procedures which were functional prior. read more

My family made the difficult decision to put my 16 year old dog Brie, to sleep as she was dying from kidney failure. Understandably, we were under a lot of emotional distress and we wanted to make the processes as seamless as possible so we filled out the necessary paperwork ahead of time. Unfortunately, when we got there at 11pm on Wednesday night they were doing a shift change and they were unable to locate our paper work. The lady who handled our admittance completely lacked any sympathy for our situation and did not apologize once for losing our paperwork. We had carefully filled out prior to arriving and this consequently made the situation even more difficult than it should have been. On the other hand, many people did show compassion and understanding, such as the women who let us stay with Brie well she started her IV as well as the vet who explained everything to us. Brie was more than a pet, she was our family and we practically grew up together. The medvet clinic did send us a card in the mail with condolences and hand written notes from many employees which was very thoughtful and kind. In summary, The lady at the front desk would be given zero stars for her horrendous behavior and the vet techs and vet would be given 4.5 stars for their kindness and compassion. read more

This facility did unnecessary procedures to my dog. He had what looked like a urethral prolapse and we needed a diagnosis and surgery if needed. We arrived and Dr. on staff at 9pm 1/23/23 claimed his penis would not come out for him to look so he needed to be sedated and then he put a catheter inside of him when it was not needed. My puppy was still okay had only small amount of bleeding off and on and only when urinating. He had a small red swollen prepuce on the top of his penis. The Dr. told us he had to stay overnight to guarantee surgery first thing in the morning and explained that by us taking him home (which we insisted several times), that we would lose our spot in the "queue" and it would hinder us from getting the surgery for him. We ended up leaving the facility paying them $2500 for surgery around 3am without our puppy. We received a call from MedVet the next morning 1/24/23 that the procedure will not happen until 1/30/23 as he was stable and they still were going to charge us for an overnight stay. Of course, we fought the overnight stay charge because we wanted to bring our dog back for surgery and insisted on it but the Dr. said the surgery wouldn't happen then. After speaking to my normal vet during business hours the next day they informed me that something was off and MedVet should not kept him over night and that a catheter is never needed unless he was unable to urinate. We called MedVet again to let them know our concerns and that a lot of unnecessary procedures took place that we felt should not be our responsibility to pay. We were all for paying but it should be the fair amount for what was actually needed versus the extra stuff they decided to do. They said that they would be able to perform the surgery now (1/24/23) and that they would have to neuter him and that was the only way that the surgeon would perform the procedure. That was not what we agreed to and the price went from $2500 to $3800 just from them adding to neuter him! We went to get our dog in less than 12 hours after leaving him and they ended up admitting that their was a disconnect in communication between the previous night ER staff and the other department - specialist team that perform the surgeries. I was going to put 2 stars because in the end, all of this rectified as they expunged the payments for all of the unnecessary medical procedures that were carried out such as the catheter, drugs used, overnight stay, etc. however we still ended up with an abnormally higher bill than expected and I believe that they are more on the money hungry side. We had to pay for drugs for pain--that was caused by the catheter. It was just a lot of negligence that we believe stemmed from greed and luckily our normal vet let us know what was going on was not okay so we were able to go back in educated on what should have took place instead of what occurred. Lastly, alot of the vet techs mentioned how they would take our dog home which was kinda weird but I just figured that my dog is a cutie so of course they would say that. However, one of the managers mentioned that they like to go the "rescue route" which I thought would be taking a dog off the street or going to the humane society for adoption. Instead, she mentioned how all her "rescues" came from people who had to leave their pups or cats after surgery so BEWARE! I wouldn't be surprised if they charge so much to certain people in hopes that they won't be able to pay and they're capitalizing off peoples pain and having to leave their dog because they simply can't afford the bill. This could be just me thinking too hard but everyone that I've told the story to so far had the same conclusion as me WITHOUT me stating my opinion first. read more

As all emergency's start- with panic and chaos- calls to all local ERS because your pet is a priority over everything, right? And that's how they treat you, like a priority. Upon finding my dog to be throwing up bloody messes, I found myself sitting in the car waiting for a room at Med Vet of Commerce. From the initial phone call to check out I never felt like a burden or a paycheck. Point blank- my dog was sick and I was a mess but they had such compassion. Not only was the doctor on staff very transparent that admitting my dog that night, it would mean by the morning he may have to be transported if not better because they did not have an active doctor working. The doctor and admitting nurse were beyond compassionate of our situation (legitimately the entire staff, I appreciate the girls at the reception desk too for their kind and welcoming words and asking if I was ok as I lost myself in the corner ). We admitted our dog Aries and the staff talked about all options that could work with a varying budget. Obviously as a pet owner, I know emergency situations are not kind on the pocket in any form but that is apart of pet ownership. The part that truly stands out to me with this clinic is the staff. Especially a girl named Amber who sent me photos through the night, test updates and talked with me on the phone about my boy. To me, this was everything because what she didn't know was my baby was abused badly as a pup until I rescued him. He's a Brut at times and add pain /fear in the mix- I worry even more . Amber was gracious, kind , caring and worked with him so gently and warned his trust (and mine!). Sadly, he ended up at another ER for a decline which showed another condition arising - I received a text from Amber just wanting to check on him because she said he was such a special boy. The quality of care he received here surpassed any other care I've ever had in his lifetime- and I am forever grateful for it. I know Pits get a bad rap, and bringing one with an unfavorable past can be scary for both parties! Thank you Amber for truly caring and being a godsend for your company! I've had to take my cat here twice and for being a vet it's one of the best experiences I've had, especially after dealing with (in my opinion incompetent) Drs from Angel Animal Hospital. The tech was very thorough in asking questions and answering all of mine. They were able to figure out what was wrong with my baby and explain everything to me in depth and walk me through potential problems that could arise in the future. My 11 month old pup was crying and throwing up all day and her eyes were going cross eyed with inflamed eyelids. I called this place before going and they said there was no wait time. When I got there 10 minutes later, we ended up waiting 2.5 hours and left before even seeing the doctor. The nurse or whoever asks questions once you're in the room had an attitude, lacked professionalism, hadn't asked any questions about my dog and had not taken a look at her, but suggested an X-ray and blood test while we wait for the doctor. She didn't mention cost at all, but luckily that was my follow up question after seeing some of these other reviews and her response was that it was going to be $900 for one and $1200 for the other. Absolutely ridiculous to suggest this before even taking a look at my dog nor asking about what's happened. When we said we'd wait for the doctor to check her out first before saying yes to those tests that totaled $2100, she said we'd need to wait at least 1+ because the doctor was in a scheduled procedure. I then brought up the fact that they told us there was no wait on the phone, now this. Instead of apologizing or taking accountability for the facility, she said "we never say that." My husband and I felt so off about the initial experience that we left to go to another emergency vet before the actual doctor entered the room. Even if that meant waiting another few hours, this place didn't seem to care and prioritized money. We were afraid they were going to continue to do that if we stayed. We ended up going to the emergency animal hospital in Plymouth and they were wonderful. We had to wait a little less than an hour, but the doctor there was so informative about the issues and upfront about pricing (which she didn't suggest anything until AFTER examining our dog). It ended up being $450 compared to the minimum of $2100 it would've been at this place. Highly recommend saving your time and not coming here. read more

My 20's daughter took her dog here for an emergency visit at 11 pm because her dog had eaten an entire chicken pad from the garbage. After unsuccessfully trying to get the dog to vomit, she took the dog to this poor excuse for a clinic. The dog is medium size and not even a year old yet. The people here checked her out (I believe with an X-ray, but I am not positive they even did that). The dog was there and observed for well less than an hour. They did not keep her to observe over night or give any substantial recommendations for care other than to check the dogs poop to see if she passed the pad, and sent her on her way to hope that her dog would be okay. What they did do is charge $1,750 instead of the already outrageous price of $1,400 that they said she would be charged, for absolutely shitty help! With the added bonus of treating my practically distraught daughter as if the dog was a child she had brought in after she had beaten it. Wish I could half star. This vet is more about making money then saving animals. Had to get my cats eye removed they wanted 3 to 5 grand to take it out or they were just going to put him down. Lucky we found a good vet that cares about the animals and thinks about the family's to that don't have that much money. read more

THEY DESERVE A ZERO!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR FUR BABY HERE!!!! My great dane had a large laceration on the top of his head. Someone recommended this place to me. I took him there. Dr. Politis treated him and sent him home with dissolving stitches on the inside of the cut and staples on the outside. I received discharge papers with instructions for his care at home and was told to take him to my vet for the staple removal 10-14 days later and a bill for $1,175.Today his staples came out, but as my vet was taking out the staples, the wound opened up. My vet said when they closed the wound at MedVet, that it looked like they rolled the skin to close it rather than push it together because his hair was inside the wound and it didn't fuse together. On the way home, I went to MedVet to see if I could have one of the doctors come to the car to look at it, but they refused to come out of the back and talk to me or even take a quick look at the dog and their shotty work unless I paid an additional $131 for an exam. I left there feeling very angry, bewildered and upset. Lets keep our fingers crossed that my poor pup won't have to again be put to sleep and his wound reopened and then put back together properly. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY! Please take your beloved pet elsewhere. There are several other emergency vet places nearby. There's not enough room to tell the whole story, but they misdiagnosed my dog who actually had a form of a stroke. They said she had a back injury but wouldn't be specific. They said it might be a bulging disc. She may have a back injury after she had her event, but when I called back the next day with my concern, I was met with the.most rude person I've encountered In a long time. She had no concern and I couldn't even get out my question. You also can't see what they are doing to your pet, which I never experienced at other emergency places. They also make you give a deposit and just pick an amount. It's not based on anything as the guy said..let's make it $600. Believe me, they will.make sure you get billed for whatever you give.
