First time Sunday breakfast at Blue's. Eggs were very small. Waitress didn't seem to want to be there. (Blonde pony tail, lots of eye makeup). Didn't bring water right away, had to ask. Then, had to ask for coffee after order had been placed awhile. Husband not happy, did not leave tip. Had to ask for more coffee when we ordered pie. We have eaten at Blue's for years, & have not had this type of service. Don't know if she was having an off day, but I know we won't be back for Sunday breakfast. read more

I have the occasional breakfast here and it's always good. Prices are appropriate. It's packed in the morning so it's pretty loud. The pie is as good as you have heard it is. Fantastic. Cash is king at Blue's so leave your cards at home. read more

My Grandmother loved loved loved this place. It's a total 'Mom and Pop' operation and God bless them for remaining in business for over 60 years. Might be the most under-rated place in the entire county. The food is as it should be for the atmosphere, the word 'homey' is a perfect description. Grandma would have lived solely on their home made pie if she could have. She recently passed so it is hard to go there. A once a year pilgrimage is about all I can muster up. read more

Very clean, very busy, great menu. Food was good. Pie was very good. Only one issue....the waitress stuck her fingers in dirty glasses when she cleaned up tables and then did the same with clean glasses to fill them with ice for water, then was wrapping silverware. We were on our way back to Chicago from an U of I game and wanted to find something authentic for dinner. It was the review of PIE at Blue's Cafe that drew us in. At almost 8 at night, the lemon meringue and the apple were gone, but the warm peach pie ala mode was worth the drive. Just sweet enough, yet tangy and that crust - we were told that two local ladies come in every day, just to make all the pies. Yes, the grilled chicken salad was tasty too, and a good fish sandwich; good diner food. But put this on your must do list for scrumptious pie. read more

Awesome waitresses, who know what drinks regulars want. Coffee is always great; they also do their own milkshakes. Basic diner food, but not greasy. They have great biscuits and gravy, go for the full order. We also love their baked whitefish. Clean and comfortable. Go a few times and you'll make some friends. Owner is usually present. What a gem. The decor is very diner, loved all the advertising memorable on the walls. The diner was spotless, the waitress were very good. Here is the number one reason I would go back the food and deserts were he best I have eaten in along time. This place is great! We were in town on a camping trip, looking to avoid the extra work of cooking dinner, and this place was recommended as a good local diner. Easy to park in the lot, very clean everywhere I went (including bathrooms), friendly service. I was a little unimpressed with the salad bar, but then again that's certainly not why I went. I had the beer-battered chicken dinner special, while others I was dining with had the club sandwich, tuna melt, cheeseburger, and chicken fingers. The whole dinner was lick-your-fingers delicious, and then the best part--the PIE. Even though it was just about the end of their day (close at 7:00 PM on Saturdays when I called and asked) they still had more than half of their daily 11 varieties of pie available still. Our table tried the butterscotch and Hawaiin pies and I really really REALLY wish we lived closer so we could come more often. I don't know what magic they use for their whipped cream topping on the pies, but it was just perfect. The filling and crust were wonderful too. If we're ever in the area again I would definitely make the trip to Blue's! read more

Okay, what is so great about this place? I rushed over at 11 AM to beat the rush. I could have waited since it took seven minutes just to get our party of five noticed. The salad bar was medium sized and well stocked. A lot of locals were eating in this place. I ordered the breaded pork loin and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. The pork tasted like a deep fried frozen steak with no flavor. It was hard to tell if the potatoes were real or just flakes. The gravy must have been from a jar. Another person ordered a Dr. Pepper that was flat! Did I mention that our corner booth had crumbs and a cracker wrapper in it and the tabled needed additional wiping. Now about this world famous pie...I ordered the butterscotch. The crust was flaky and the filling had just the right balance. The topping was a disappointing cool whip that wasn't even browned. The mediocre service with the frozen food, a dirty dish cart by the front door, and cash only policy don't bid well for me. I recommend that Blue's stay local. Apparently their locals like their type of cafe. It's better than fast food, but don't make a special trip. read more

Lovely classic diner, or "cafe," as we'd have said in Oklahoma. Burgers, salads, sandwiches, dinner specials, salad bar. Fantastic pie. Eat early in the day for best pie selection! Something that looked like chicken and dumplings was very popular. My vegetable beef soup was excellent, as was the pork tenderloin sandwich. Very inexpensive. read more

Like to stop in here for lunch after visiting Bears Camp in Bourbonais. I give it 4 stars, the average of 3 stars for the OK --but very reasonably priced--diner food, and 5 for the the terrific pie. Do not leave this place without trying some of their pie. read more

My mom and I eat here at least twice a week. The food is good and the service is great! Best pie ever!!!

Menu is basic but food is well-prepared. Servers are personable and friendly without exception. Place is dated, but that's intentional and they pull it off well. Dining area and restrooms are very clean. Last, and absolutely not least, the pies are fantastic. Though seasonal (early summer), the rhubarb pie is the best I have found anywhere.
