One of those challenges is not having access to indoor laundry (you either find it in the garage or like the house I purchased, in a storage room off the carport). The good news was when I saw the home I immediately knew I could frame a door from the inside of the house to access the room. The bad news is all of the plumbing for sewage, washer, and water heater were on the same wall where I needed to put my door. What does that mean? In order for me to do what I want to do I need to move all of the plumbing to the opposite end of the unfinished storage room. Enter the team at Doctor Drain. Showed up to give me a quote and explained step by step what it would take to get the job done. Newer construction they could've ran lines in the walls, but since this room was built with 2x4s the only option was to cut into the foundation, run new lines in the ground to the opposite end of the room, move the plumbing down for the water heater and then backfill the plumbing with concrete. I even had them go ahead and add a plumbing connection for a water softener in case I want to have one in the future. The team showed up in a timely manner, kept me in the loop if they needed to get something, worked with scheduling accommodations and at the end of the day helped me achieve the vision I had for the room. Their only concern (which was nothing for me) is that when they poured concrete after the lines were set they don't do any type of texture or design like a mason worker may do. Since I was going to have the flooring in that room match the rest of the house I didn't care and it wasn't a concern for me. I WILL be hiring them again when it's time for me to do my home addition for a master bathroom and if there is any type of plumbing work you need done get these guys on your job.

But the communication of the issues was done in abrupt ways. One of the issues was that they hit and broke irrigation lines. I fully understand that they are not responsible for them- but I asked if they could cap them off so they wouldn't leak. I was told it wouldn't be a problem. The left them wide open and then denied that any type of water leak could be causing sink holes The night that they finished I had a sink hole in my yard. They told me it was because they couldn't pack the dirt around the bullhorns. I asked if there was any way it could be a leak they assured me it wasn't. I asked for them to come and compact correctly. They said I should remove a septic tank that was found. Because of the stress of the way they communicated I asked them to just compress the dirt. I planned on getting a second opinion about what to do with the septic. I once again brought up leaks they assured me it was fine- I kept my irrigation off just in case. Instead of just compacting the dirt they took bricks that I had in the back yard and cement in a hole they dug up. I wasn't asked or told until after it was done. I have since had multiple landscapers come out. There is two leaks in the irrigation where it wasn't capped off where the sink hole is. Both landscapers quoted charging me extra to either haul dirt away or compact it correctly because it's not even close to even any more. Additionally the amount of garbage left in the dirt and alley was shocking. It looks like a good chuck if not all of the piping was just left broken in the yard along with other parts. The irrigation line that they removed was just left in the alley. They did fix the piece they were asked to- but communication, respect of the yard, and how problems were fixed was problematic.

Home Depot referred me to Martinez Appliance and Plumbing. I was charged $350 for the installation of both appliances--a price I found excessive, but I agreed because the technician, Johnny Martinez, was available the next day and I was preparing to leave town. The installation took over an hour, and I paid him the full amount as agreed. Shortly after he left, I detected a strong smell of gas coming from the dryer. I immediately contacted the gas company, who instructed me to evacuate the home due to a serious safety risk. Upon inspection, the gas company confirmed a major gas leak caused by the use of incorrect hardware during installation. According to them, Johnny Martinez's poor workmanship directly endangered my household. Thankfully, the gas company was able to correct the issue by installing the proper fittings, and the leak was resolved within 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I am now out $350 for a service that not only failed but also put my family in harm's way. Additionally, Johnny used packaging ties--not even proper zip ties--to secure the washing machine drain hose, which is completely unacceptable given the price charged. In summary: Unsafe, unprofessional, and overpriced. I do not recommend this company under any circumstances.
