Unreal. I would stay as far away from these folks as possible. I found their website online and scheduled a free 20 minute consult. I then got a call from them (which was transcribed) indicating that they didn't have an insomnia specialist and would have to reschedule. I then called them and they said rescheduling wasn't necessary. They then called me back to tell me that they did need to reschedule. I then got an email indicating that they had charged my credit card . Subsequently I spoke to Julie who was either incredibly indifferent or lacked an understanding of what was going on. Suffice it to say at a minimum she could use some training. I then got to a supervisor who was reasonably "ok" after sitting on hold for an additional 20 minutes. She agreed to credit back my credit card (we'll see). Just a 100% disaster and while I can't say it is a scam. If it was a scam, I think it would look very much the same from my vantage point. read more

The BlueSleep process was quick and easy. I made an initial appointment and received a 3-night home sleep test within a few days. I made another video visit with the doctor who discussed the sleep test results (Moderate Sleep Apnea). I went to a dental office for a quick digital scan of my teeth and then had my oral device in three weeks. The BlueSleep dentist was very kind and told me how to adjust my device. I'm now waking up with more energy and my bed partner is much happier that I don't snore! And, insurance covered all visits after my deductible was met. read more

All I can say about my experience is absolutely wonderful. The providers are very informative and caring. The practices support staff were very helpful. The doctor diagnosed my condition and the resulting treatment as made sleep for me a blessing finally after all these years of not knowing the issue. I highly recommend this medical practice who is proactive to get to the root of your medical issue if you have snoring, breathing issues and possibly sleep apnea. I've had hoarseness for fifteen months (very disconcerting) - and my ENT doctor couldn't find anything adverse about five months ago, when doing that lovely little procedure where a camera on wires is put through your nostril into your throat. She finally convinced me to carry it a step further and recommended a speech pathologist at BlueSleep. I went there yesterday and the same procedure was done - but they're trained to look for other things and they use different equipment. Fortunately nothing adverse was found (which, frustratingly, leaves me back at square one), but I was given several voice exercises and I'll return in two weeks. Meanwhile, the speech pathologist - Christie - was extremely pleasant and patient. Also, the reception staff were all very friendly (including on the phone). BlueSleep's primary concentration seems to be sleep disorders, but don't let that dissuade you from visiting them for other related problems. (Update on 3/15/12): Today I (briefly) met Dr. Stern, the ENT doctor who heads Blue Sleep. He's very nice; low-key and with a good sense of humor. read more

I went in and was told that my insurance would cover the exam, sleep study, and oral appliance 100% besides co-pay only to receive a bill for $2,000! Not to mention that my oral appliance broke a few months later with regular use and I was told I would be charged more to have it fixed. After multiple calls I was told that the matter had been settled. I JUST received another bill $2,100 3 YEARS LATER! I went to Jordan Stern for issues with breathing/allergies. DO NOT GO THERE!! Got charged double with no heads up!! Forget about that I was waiting for a while to get checked, but when finally the doctor came to take me in, he gave me barely few minutes before telling me that I need to do some sleeping tests?!?! For my allergy and then told me that they will call me to come pick up a sleep apnea test kit. Forget about that it doesn't make sense for a healthy 27 years old guy, that just got checked and found out he is allergic to dust and that's why I have issues breathing sometimes to do that. But they never reached out! Never called, never sent the medications he said I need to take. And then freaking charged me over $300!! For being late to his appointment, not telling me anything beside that I need to book another appointment that he never reached out for. They are cold. Sneaky. And have a disgusting service for patients who just want to feel better. And instead making us feel worst! Update: after complaining about the charge and service. I got an email about how I was late to my appointment because in their iPad it said that I finished filling the forms 15min after my appointment time. I call BS on that, and even more offended! Since until I got my and the lady explained all the things she want me to fill took her about 5-10min and I finished filling it in exactly 5min and still waited for my appointment for a good amount of time!! I booked an appointment with Dr. Stern, though I met with a PA whose knowledge of sleep apnea was very limited. I was asked to fill out a comprehensive form prior to my appointment, none of that information was mentioned. I had emailed them after in regards to setting up my apnea test and over a week later, no reply. Not a pleasant experience. read more

Save your time and save your money. I saw a doctor under Dr. Stern 3 x. She was lovely, but the billing practices are unethical. Each tele-visit I made my $25 co-pay as required by insurance. All along, I was told that I was in-network, they billed my insurance as well. The office then takes the liberty to bill you additional fees without an invoice and without informing you. They then used the excuse I was out of network! I was told that Dr Stern does not want anything mailed out regarding bills. On multiple occasions, I called and tried to speak to an office manager and was told someone would call me back. NO callbacks. Finally, they denied I was even a patient in their office. Unbelievable. I advised them not to charge my card without providing an invoice, they charged it anyway. read more

A consultation is a 4 minute telecon with a PA, second consultation is a 5 min review of the test with another PA. Charges for copay make no sense and the receipt makes less sense. Then I saw a dentist for a scan, where without explanation whatsoever I was offer either a mouthpiece or a CPAP machine. They said it was my choice... I was expecting a better explanation from the physician that is allegedly the specialist in sleep medicine. After a couple of weeks they called me from the office, a receptionist, saying that my co-pay for the mouthpiece was going to be $500. When I questioned the price they said that I could apply for financial hardship, and I clearly, thank God, do not qualify in my eyes. I got a call five minutes later and told me that if I want it I could be $350 for the mouthpiece. Strange hustling with the doctors office. In the same phone call they told me that if I wasn't happy with that I could then switch to the CPAP machine that might be cheaper. The whole experience is a joke. read more

They demand money up front, saying that it will automatically be refunded to your credit card. When it wasn't refunded more than a month later, I called and the woman said it doesn't get refunded, it's kept "for future visits"! Who does that? She said she would contact billing to see if I could get my refund. When I asked for the phone number for billing she couldn't give it to me. All this for a melatonin recommendation. read more

They cancelled my appointment last minute ....and made up excuses... first the office said they don't take the insurance, then when I confirmed they are listed as providers, they changed it to 'not taking new patients anymore', then also threw in the appointment scheduling service they use as 'having glitches'. And please don't say 'I don't know who told you that (inaccurate information)'...your patients aren't responsible for your office messing up appointments and lying. I went here to try to rule out sleep apnea or to see if I had some other condition. My sleep recordings showed sleep issues, though they did rule out sleep apnea. Dr. Stern was extremely unhelpful and rushed during the follow up appointment, he spent maybe two minutes discussing the results and stated it could be seizures or something else. He said the office could refer me to a hospital for a more thorough sleep study. This never happened. I have received several bills from them, when I already paid and was told the follow up appointment would be free of no charge. Unless you strongly suspect you have sleep apnea, I would not go here, as the sleep study is completely useless apart from determining whether you have sleep apnea. read more

Got to agree with the previous reviewer, and I will also get a second opinion. Dr. Stern is not friendly in the least, nor does he seem to care. He seems to be actively avoiding dealing with the sleep apnea he says I have, by sending me to as many different (costly) specialists as he can. When I first saw the man and dared to ask what he wanted to spray into my nose, I got compared to his nine year old daughter, then told I should trust him because people come from all over to see him. I have a vague recollection of the nurse practitioner or whoever it was, giving me all the procedural standard disclosure stuff, then ramming that video tube up my nose and down my throat, rattling off how I shouldn't panic, I'm doing fine. It was probably the look of fear in my eyes. Worst. Beside. Manner. Ever. I felt like I was being hurriedly processed, because god forbid anyone see riff raff like me in there. I'm just bringing their profile down because they are apparently the ENT to the stars. La de da. The followup was with da Stern man himself, who the previous NP was sure to inform me was the foremost authority on the subject of reflux given his one book, which I should surely get a copy of. He looked bored to tears to even be in my presence (I'll admit, I'm not a very exciting guy), but fine... he DID recommend I get a dental appliance made, which they could handle since they had a dentist on site... they just had to check with insurance first. No Problem. Two weeks later, I hadn't heard back yet, so I made a followup call... no they forgot to call insurance. They'll get to it ASAP! Waited 3 more weeks and made another followup call... ohhh sorry still no word yet. After a few months went by, I lost all hope of ever hearing back and so I went to my dentist and said "Can I just get a night guard made", and 2 weeks later it was done and done. And now all you bastards know that I snore... but hey, if it helps save even one of you from this poor excuse for a sleep clinic, then the public self shaming would have been worth it. read more

I went to Dr. Stern in 2008 for trouble breathing through my nose. Possible deviated septum, adenoid problems. He found a 3cm tumor on my thyroid doing a thorough, careful, routine check. I had cancer and had no idea. I will always be grateful to Dr. Stern for his thorough care and attention. He took the time for a complete examination when he could have checked my nose and looked at my adenoids. Can't say it would have been caught otherwise. Great doctor. read more

Horrible! Do not go here !! I never saw the "Dr " but spent over $1,000.00 & a mouth piece I can't use because,  as I told the "dentist" there , I have gag reflex. They proceeded to fit me for the mouth piece that I couldn't use. My insurance doesn't pay for it but no one in the office explained my opinions. The home test was also poorly explained, but the large fees were always understandable & explained. The home test I took at blue sleep wasn't accurate,  but Dr Jordan Stern,  who I still haven't met, never knew because no one there was really interested. I thought the $1,000. mouth piece was what I needed to be healthy. I suffer from extreme obstructive slerp apnea, I found from another more professional Doctor! This doctor , Dr. Lund at the SDI , actually took time & explained I needed a sleep study there to determine the severity of the slept apena. At SDI I was diagnosed ! I now have a wonderful mask & machine. My insurance covers it. The mouth piece from blue sleep wouldn't have helped me , even it I could have used it. Save you time & money & DO NOT go to blue sleep. Dr Jordan Stern is an Otolaryngologist serving FIDI who specializes is sleep apnea. I've been going to Dr Stern and his nurse practitioner Michelle for the past two years. I was able to get appointment yesterday via there website. http://www.bluesleep.com/ Very simple and user friendly online booking system. Got an appointment quickly and off to Dr Stern I went. Due to my hearing loss and chronic problems with my ears I felt very comfortable being in the hands of Blue Sleep. I've had nothing but exceptional care from every visit. I've also seen Nicole the audiologist a few times for my hearing tests and hearing aide adjustments. She is absolutely wonderful, extremely friendly and easy to talk to. She keeps me up to date on new hearing aide devices, which I will be returning for shortly. On one of my most recent visits I noticed a sleep pod which I of course inquired about. I will surely take advance of these power naps. Who wouldn't want a nap midday? read more

The experience to pick up my snore guard went as smooth as I could expect. I began by setting up an appointment to come into the office, which was easy due to a lot of available spots. When I got to the waiting room, I was handed an iPad to fill out my medical history. At this point, we began the coolest part of the process - having their medical professional perform a 3D scan of my jaws/teeth. I was able to watch this live as it happened and it was definitely a fascinating experience. This process only took about 10-15 mins and then I was done. I received my package shortly after that, which was packaged professionally and contained everything I needed - the mouth guard, bands, and instructions on how to use it. The guard fit my teeth perfectly and I could use it as a sort of retainer as well. After trying it, my girlfriend confirmed that I no longer kept her up or woke her up with my snoring. The product works exactly as expected and I couldn't be happier with the purchase! read more

Totally unresponsive. Front desk is a disaster. Left hand has no idea what the right hand is up to. When you finally get someone on the phone, they don't even look at your records. The woman I spoke knew nothing about my patient history. Dr. Stern prescribed an oral appliance for me and sent me to a dentist for the fitting and delivery of the oral appliance. No one ever thought to mention that my insurance wouldn't cover ANY of this. So now I'm out $7500 and Dr. Stern has not responded to any of my e-mails. I hope he doesn't do the same to his other patients. There was never a sit-down about the cost implications a/o coverage with me. If you decide to go to Dr. Jordan Stern, advocate for yourself and INSIST on an honest discussion about cost implications. I wish someone had told me. But the fact of the matter is that Dr. Stern should have stepped up, shown more responsibility and initiated that discussion with me. read more

I had the pleasure of visiting Dr. Stern and his office a few weeks back when I was struggling to find a solution for my sleeping and snoring problems. His staff was quite kind and courteous. All of my questions were answered and the team made sure I was comfortable with the overall process. After my home sleep test was completed, I was able to get an oral appliance to help treat my sleep related issues. To say the least, I'm sleeping much better and believe I was able to get the help that I needed. I highly recommend Dr. Stern and the team for anyone looking to fix their sleep issues. read more

Horrible experience. Warning!!! My PCP referred me and I made an appointment via the website Healow portal. It was added to my calendar, the day before someone called me to verify my appoint, nice. I traveled from LI the day before and commuted from Brooklyn, over an hour and expensive taxi fare because I walk with a cane. When I got there they told me they could not find me in the appointment calendar, I told them it was verified by phone less than 24 hours ago, and she said oh we don't take your insurance, I said I will pay cash. But my insurance company told me in advance they will take it if he fills out a form, but she told me they only take insurance. It all sounded made up. I left and paid for another expensive taxi fare. Went home and made another appointment to see what could have happened and it even says on the portal, are you paying by cash or by Insurance, so they either lied or did not update their web site. All you will get is a waste of a day, waste of time waiting for the appt. Location sucks, and the fee is $800 or more depending on the package they sell you. Don't trust your health to untrustworthy people. I now see reviews that mirror my issue. Looks like they cancelled my appointment because they did not want to take Anthem, and did not have the courtesy to call me or text or email. As far as I am concerned they owe me $60. read more

Office contacted regarding not accepting insurance a night before appt was scheduled despite the fact that Zocdoc app indicated that he accepts the insurance and insurance info was provided days in advance. The patient travelled from far and had to make alternate appt with the different provider at a very last minute which caused a huge inconvenience. read more

The doctor is fine but his staff is atrocious- the worst people you could possibly deal with when you have to handle medical procedures, get prescription refills, etc. They are rude and condescending. Absolutely disgusted by the whole experience and will stay away from this place. First, they charge you $90 to "secure the appointment". Next, the PA, not the doctor, sees you and tells you nothing but "Here is a sleep apnea test for you" - "But I don't have any symptoms as you just heard me." - "That's our protocol, take it." I got the test for something I didn't need. Fascinating. Then I got billed once again for "shipping". Then it turned out that my test results would be discussed with PA again, not the doctor, even though throughout the whole booking process they tell you your appointment is with Dr Stern. The PA said "Good news, you don't have sleep apnea". No sh*t. And it goes on and on. The last straw is the incompetent billing department that just keeps charging your credit card and not refunding what you're entitled to. And these PAs charge like real doctors. How this place is still open is beyond me, someone should investigate it for murky practices and shut it down. The absolutely worst medical experience I have ever seen. read more

This practice was extremely disappointing. The doctor will try to sell you all sorts of things you may or may not need, and just run them through your insurance. Seems like the sleep apnea diagnosis is just his excuse to make money off patients with a real problem and you would be better off going to someone who actually cares about a careful diagnosis, and meaningful evaluation. And don't even get me started on his staff - they are rude, disorganized and treat patients like an inconvenience. After years of sinus and allergy issues, I was referred by my primary physician to Dr. Stern. Two appointments and $70 later, Dr. Stern diagnosed me with acid reflux. He might be right. He might be wrong. What's troubling, however, is that he delivered this diagnosis to me, straight faced, while sitting under a poster-sized advertisement for his book "Dropping Acid," which includes information on how to treat acid reflux with diet change. When I asked for specifics on what I needed to do in regards to changing my diet, he literally -- LITERALLY -- cocked his head to the poster and informed me that if I wanted to find out more, the secrets were available in his book "for the low price of $20" (not kidding about that last part). It's not ethical to withhold information from a patient that you are readily able to give. I don't know how much I trust the opinion of a guy who is clearly just trying to get me to drop another $20 on his cookbook. Come on, dude. I CAN FIND THOSE RECIPES ON THE INTERNET FOR FREE. In the mean time, I'm planning on filing a complaint with the New York state licensing board... and getting a second opinion. read more

I've had a great experience with BlueSleep so far. A sleep test by my primary care physician found moderate sleep apnea (20 events per hour). After doing research and deciding I wanted to try an oral appliance instead of a CPAP machine, I consulted with Blue Sleep. They said I would be a good candidate and they were right. It's now three months with the oral appliance they provided and I haven't slept this well in many years. The latest sleep test showed 3 events per hour, which is minimal, and my snoring is completely gone. All but two of my appointments were by video but we're living through covid so I can understand. The information I received from everyone I spoke with was clear, concise and accurate. Billing was straightforward and they coordinated everything with my insurance. If you have been diagnosed with apnea and are a good candidate for an oral appliance, I think you're in good hands here. read more

So far so good, went for my first appointment to deal with Ear Nose and Throat issues. It may be sleep apnea but the Dr. Stern seems methodical. He wanted to treat and eliminate other issues before coming to that conclusion. My appointment didn't start on time, maybe ten or fifteen minutes late, but the other attending staff were very informative and attentive. Gave me some water, let me know how much longer the doctor would be etc. Overall a very good experience. I'll be back in another week so we'll see if anything changes. read more

I read about Dr. Stern, and couldn't believe that someone with a 17-page resume, hundreds of publications, thousands of surgeries under his belt, a best-selling book, and so much experience would want to spend time on the annoying problem of a 'clicking' noise in my ear. Dr. Stern saw it under a microscope and told me it was a crumb of wax sitting right on my eardrum. I was terrified at the thought of removing it from such a delicate location, but Dr. Stern made it seem easy, skillfully removing it in seconds. I should add that his staff was very pleasant, and the space is just beautiful, with lots of gorgeous art, even a piano. I am so grateful and relieved. Dr.Stern is one of the most out of the box doctors who treats you as a person vs a condition. I've had sleep apnea for years and TMJ. He is also an ENT as his training is as a head and neck surgeon. Not only has he treated me for sinus infections, he convinced me I could give up my CPAP and mouth guard for a next generation dental appliance. Having used two in the past, I was doubtful. Seeing how many new technologies he has explored, always looking for the most effective solutions, I tried a new dental appliance. It is incredibly comfortable and you can talk and drink water with it in. He understands sleep holistically, considering all of the interrelated issues of breathing, digestion, how your jaw impacts headaches and TMJ and apnea. Beyond that, he is immediately responsive to emails and follows up. His staff is excellent at communicating and managing insurance clearance. I can't recommend him highly enough. He is one of a rare breed of doctors who looks at all angles. It is clear he loves what he does. read more
