I've only actually been once, but it was enough to make me swoon. I mean...I've been following them on social media for ages and have drooled over their photos, but now that I've been inside, yep, it's love. I love that just about everything in the shop is made in Canada, and there is so much love for local Nova Scotian artists too! I could have bought a car full of goodies - Rifle Paper Co journals? Adorable prints? Jewellery dishes shaped like woodland animals? And then the jewellery itself that is just so gorgeous, it's hard not to want a little bit of everything. The store is packed full of goodies in every space available, but it doesn't feel cramped or crowded. The set up is perfect for browsing in a crowd (even though I was there in the off-season). I can't say enough about this charming shop! I can't wait to go back.

Just. YES. After a…read moreday of shopping the south shore, inundated by stereotypical 'maritime' crap that I just can't get down with, I almost let out an audible cry of happiness when I walked into this brand new addition to the Lunenburg scene. The modern, open and bright space really let the products on the shelves shine rather than forcing customers into an awkward stumble through overpacked aisles of random nick-knacks. Within seconds of seeing all the inspiring and adorable prints, handmade pillows and stuffed toys, quirky greeting cards and stationery, and tons more, I knew I was in trouble. Much like a similar store in Halifax (Love, Me Boutique), I just wanted it all. And that's okay...because every purchase helps support a legitimate local artist or crafter which makes me feel MUCH better about gift-giving than just picking up your average mass-produced 'Authentic Nova Scotian' anything. Besides, there were so many great products available for less than $20 which makes it easy to do some damage without having to hate yourself for it later. I will absolutely be back. Hopefully soon and often.

I have always enjoyed going to Mahone bay on a lazy day when nothing better to do then to drive out…read moreof the HRM and take in the eats, treats, and sites of this beautifull part of our province. I usual stop in for some grub at the Mug and Anchor, then spend some time browsing in the emporium. On this occasion I had brought family from Ontario down and we had literally stepped foot in to the shop, and as you walk in there is a selection of some vintage jewelry... I had started to talk to my family members about something that had caught my eye in the case, and was interrupted by the women that runs the store. Now when I say interrupted, I don't mean, a nice excuse me... but in the middle of my conversation she gives me the time out sign with her hands, and asks for our attention, she is closing at 5, ( it was ten to five) and we could quickly look around if we like, but it would be better if we come back tomorrow. She was so rude, I was speechless ( and that doesn't happen often), there was 5 of us, for all she knew we could have all bought something. We quickly exited the store, and I have no reason to ever go back, which is unfortunate as I have purchased things in the past but they won't be getting anymore of my greens! I have worked in retail before, and yes it is not fun when someone comes in to your store 10 minutes before you close, I get it, but could have been handled with a little more professionalism and maritime hospitality.

Nestled below a few steps off Spring Garden Road, this jewelry shop requires an extra glance to notice its there. The steps are deep, so be warned--I can see them being tricky for some. Visitors need to press the buzz to get inside, and its immediately obvious that this place isn't for tooting around. Teeny-tiny, but elegantly stated. The exposed brick wall and open workshop give Fawcett's its own hands-on personality. The goldsmith, Blaine, welcomed me kindly and was very helpful in giving me the shop scoop. While the show room displays mainly engagement rings, formal bands and the like, the business is built on custom designed jewelry. Everything is made right here in the shop, behind a wall divider, so as the goldsmith works, you can roam the shop and see him go. Its a different experience, and I liked it. The jewels are too rich for my blood, but maybe some day. Blaine mentioned that they were branching out with some newer and lower price range product, so don't let price stop you from going in for a peek. Overall, the work is excellent and the friendly, personably service seems A +. Open for over 18 years, its no wonder Fawcett's is still kicking.

I obviously didn't work as closely with them as he did, but in my dealings with them since then they have been nothing but polite and sincere - I think they like my ring even more than I do! Re-sizing was free and we are now working on designs for a band to go with my ring. The only thing I can't comment on here is price - my guy refuses to disclose what he spent, but I would imagine it was a lot based on the quality of the stones and the gold work. Pricing is not for the faint of heart, but what you get is quality and craftsmanship. There is no rhodium plating here - you get the real deal. The customer service is also excellent, particularly when contrasted with the service of chain stores.
