Dr. Blume and her staff are efficient, professional and courteous. My kids have had great care and enjoy going to their dental checkups.

Not child friendly. Blume treats families with judgement, shaming. Also they will not take anesthesia treatment (gas) so you end up paying out of pocket for the shot, hundreds of dollars. and they will charge you credit card fees ontop of that. Just because you have a certificate for pediatric dentistry does not mean you have the temperament to work with children. read more

Let me just state one of their office policies here: they will not be able to treat your child if the child has ANY upper respiratory symptoms, including symptoms of a minor cold. Seriously. I pulled my daughter out of preschool today to take her as a new patient. The new patient paperwork here is extensive. It would have been nice to fill it out in advance but it was never emailed to me due to the front desk misspelling our last name in both the overall chart and my email address. That really should have been my first sign that the office is disorganized. I completed the Covid screening at the front desk and had temp checked etc; my daughter did not have symptoms of Covid. 30 minutes later and the dental assistant performs X-rays and comments that my daughter has a cough. She has had this cough for several weeks. She pretty much has a permanent cough and nasal drainage due to severe allergies. I was then told that my daughter could not get her teeth cleaned due to her cold symptoms and would need to come back for another visit. Dr. Blume explained to me in a very condescending matter how aerosols spread germs and that she had to keep her staff safe. The thing is that my daughter had already been seen almost two weeks ago by her pediatrician who confirmed that she has a simple cold. I take my children into their peds doc anytime their upper respiratory symptoms increase just to be sure it's not Covid; their dad works in a high risk setting and we take this very seriously. Dr. Blume got very argumentative with me about this and explained to me again how germs are spread. I told her my husband is an ER doctor and we understand how germs are spread. I did not appreciate her talking down to me. She then doubled down and took her stethoscope and listened to my daughter's chest for a split second. There's no way she listened to chest sounds that fast and it was clearly to make a show of it. She told me my daughter's chest is congested. My husband checked her again at home and said her chest was completely clear. I understand wanting to err on the side of safety but refusing to see a child with literally ANY cough or runny nose is unreasonable. I have personally had extensive dental work done and have never had a dentist not work on me because I had a runny nose or cough. Due to my daughter having year round allergies consisting of coughing and a runny nose, I don't think she'll ever be "free of Covid symptoms." My daughter goes to year round preschool and has gone to school everyday like this and we've never had anyone be concerned. Dr. Blume did not bother to pull me aside and had this entire conversation in front of my already anxious 5 year old. When we got back to the car, my daughter burst into tears because Dr. Blume now has her worried that she has "bad germs and Covid." Yes, a pediatric dentist shamed a healthy 5 year old little girl for having a cough and made her feel scared and worried that she might have Covid. We are searching for an office which has more reasonable policies and informs patients of them prior to their visit. I will also be sure that the dentist does not speak down to me and shame my little girl. read more

There is no pediatric dentistry I trust more. Moved to San Antonio in 2012/2013. Have been taking our children there since. Even when they moved their office from Fredericksburg to 1604.. Was not thrilled but stuck with them way. With Dr Blume and her staff you are not patients you are extended family. A warm friendly fun loving office.. My children actually insist on going there.. We went here because we got referred and it started off great but went downhill from there. I'm particularly not impressed with Rachel not only is she a bit condescending but her professionalism isn't too great as well. We had been communicating with her throughout our process and are still having to deal with the billing mess these people made for us from anesthesia costs to insurance. I feel like I was misinformed and taken advantage of. Needless to say we will be taking our business elsewhere from now on to a place I feel I will get better care and a clearer vision and understanding of what to expect in the long run. read more

This dentist will not let you speak and allow you to ask questions. Extremely disappointed in the lack of professionalism and courtesy from this person. I have brought all three of my children here several times over the course of several years in which she's always been very courteous and extremely helpful. So the last time I brought my youngest daughter in with concerns of her grinding her teeth she informed me that she did not want to be "disrespectful" but this has gone on for a while and now it was to the point that she needed crowns on two of her teeth because the cavity filling that she had a year ago was so worn down. She then for the probably 20th time asked me if she snores because her tonsils are in large. I mentioned that all of my kids have large tonsils. We were directed to see an ENT doctor to address any issues. Today, at this appointment I address those concerns and asked if there was where in tear in the prior x-rays. She proceeded to tell me very loudly and over me that kids commonly have wear and tear which is not what she said prior. She knew I was upset but kept saying I'm sorry you're upset. I really wanted her to address my concerns of what I look out for now to help my child not have additional issues with her teeth. Needless to say she didn't wanna hear it and it didn't matter if I addressed my concerns so why even bother speaking.. read more

I have been taking my children to see Dr. Blume for many years and I am very grateful to have a kind, knowledgeable, and compassionate dentist that I can trust. Dr. Blume and her staff have a heart to serve and are very friendly and patient with children. I truly appreciate all of the time that has been taken to provide care for my children's oral health. Dr. Blume helped me to identify a need for one of my children to see an orthodontist and worked closely with him to provide the care my son needed to fix his pallet and to straighten his teeth. Dr. Blume also performed an oral surgery on another one of my children to help fix dental work that was not done properly by different dentist. I was nervous initially for my son to have an oral surgery but soon realized that Dr. Blume was extremely thorough and very competent in pediatric dentistry. She did a wonderful job with all of the dental work that has been done and I have recommended her to any parent looking for a good dentist that truly cares for their patients. Other positive notes: 1. My kids love coming to the dentist! (and even get a fun little toy after they are finished) 2. The office is clean and in a nice location in San Antonio. 3. Over all visit with baby went well.1 star is first, for lack of professionalisms. They were in a meeting, no one checked us in or greeted us right away at front office. Ms. Crystal was the dental technician for both of my kids 6 and 3. She was amazing!! She had great bedside manners and made sure my kids were at ease. They had a great experience because of her!! Will definitely recommend this place! Ms. Crystal is great!! read more

We have been with Dr Blume since she opened her practice. She is an excellent Pediatric Dentist. Her and her staff really care about making it a great experience for your child. So 15 years ago, I was blessed with the most amazing child there is and when she turned 12 months old we met Dr. Blume. Now, my kid was very dramatic and mostly afraid of the dentist but when we met Dr. Blume and her amazing staff she no longer was afraid. The empathy they gave my daughter, the patience, most of all their professionalism. Wow, Dr. Blume seems to hire those individuals that truly love what they do, and do it with so much grace. We've become like family and since this pandemic she's made sure everyone follows the guidelines of CDC and keeping our loved ones safe. Thank you for all you continue to do for your patients their families, your staff. You're definitely one of a kind hence why when I adopted my other kids, I know exactly where they were going.
