Last week, my ladyfriend broke her molar down close to the roots...and she doesn't have a primary dentist or dental insurance. A search on Yelp revealed that Villa Dental takes walk-in patients and takes cash or has finance plans available. What's more, this facility is the hands-down the best rated dentist in San Antonio. Well, I'm pleased to say that there's a reason for all that goodwill. We got the earliest appointment available and were impressed from the moment we walked in the door. Unlike a lot of dental practices, the staff seems happy to be there - not dispirited and overworked like many other places. We were taken in on time and I got to observe the practice close to first-hand. The technology used in the X-ray and inner-mouth photography is top-notch and a step above my own dentist. Dr. Staes, as many here state, has a great bedside (chair-side?) manner and takes pains to explain everything. Came back the next day for a painless extraction and a couple of fillings. I can't say enough good things about Villa Dental. In fact, the only negative is that they don't take my dental insurance or I'd be a patient here too! read more

The assistant and dentist here were friendly enough, but I have to say I sensed they were in it more for the money than for giving me the treatment I needed. They diagnosed me with periodontal disease which would have had a negative impact on my work opportunities. I got a second opinion a few weeks later and was told that I had significant build up of plaque but that I most certainly didn't have periodontal disease. Stay far away from Villa Dental. I relocated here from California and went here to get a filling and they have distorted my mouth. At this point I need upper dentures. I started with a dentist and he left. I came back to get my crown redone and they ended up pulling the tooth because they said they couldn't see under it. So after they completely redid the right upper side three new crowns. They said once they removed that last crown and saw under the crown that I had to get an implant or a bridge. I was not going to pay 6,000 for and implant after spending thousands on redoing the right side. They put a temporary. I went back to get my bridge seated and they said I wasn't healed because the temp was too close to my gum. So I had to come back. So I waited again. When I went to go back they said I couldn't come back until I payed another 500$. I had no balance and had been making payments every time. Now the temp fell off. I have exposed teeth and they still don't care. I have called. Even trying to pay the 500 to just finish and move on. Very rude unprofessional staff the girls get super annoyed when you have an issue. Won't talk to the dentist or help at all. It's crazy to redo one side of someone's mouth. Rip it all out. Make a new bridge and then leave the patient with no teeth after they paid thousands. Disgusting. Save your move and just nock all your teeth out cause that's what's gonna happen if you go here!!!!! Period!!! I'm hoping to find a good dentist and maybe they can get my teeth from this jerk. People are so awful!!!!! read more

This place really was a unique experience in which everyone- and I am talking EVERYONE made me feel safe and cared for. Being transferred from NC here to Texas for my job, Iam a 54 year old female that has only been to the dentist twice in my life to get deep cleaning. Ironically, due to the lack of visits to the dentist.. I have minimal damage a little bone loss and some bacteria from not getting cleanings on the regular, and only two cavities. But the technology that they have and the quality of care given by my dental doctor he explained everything to me in full detail.
