Based on the food I ordered, I would not come here again. I got the Gordon's all time favorite sandwich for lunch and I was really disappointed. The sandwich was a weird combination and the pastrami was coated in oil. Not olive oil but oil from the meat. My bread also had a lot of oil on the bottom of the bun from sitting on the plate. Then I ordered an earl gray tea and they actually don't brew it for you. It was pretty flavorless. My mother and grandmother got tomato soup and the risotto and they said it was very good. It might've been the food I ordered but I wouldn't go there again. Although the ambiance here is super cute. I would recommend it if you just want a coffee and a dessert. read more

Your average coffee shop on any street corner. It's a little posh but again pretty simple spot. Stopped in after the Van Gogh museum to grab a quick coffee and croissant before heading out on a 15 mile bike tour. The tables are a little tiny and it's hard to get into the booth side if it's even mildly crowded. Bathrooms are super clean and located downstairs below the shop. read more

I walked into the cutest cafe I think I've ever seen. The bright colors and eccentric tiles had me eager to pop in for a coffee to go. The space was super busy (I visited on a Monday afternoon), I waited to speak to a hostess to see how to order to go and was passed over for 3 groups who came in after me even though I was very clearly waiting. I was frustrated and finally asked a gentleman behind the counter if I could place an order with him, he obliged. I had a Cafe Americano with milk and it was fine (warm, which is what I was looking for on the windy rainy April day in the Netherlands). The cost was reasonable for the touristy area (I think 3 or 4 euro for a medium sized coffee). in short, I enjoyed the clever sayings on the cups and the aesthetics of the place, but probably wouldn't be interested in going back because of the service. read more

When we arrived, there were few people in the restaurant, but it soon got busier and it seemed the staff could not keep up. We literally waited nearly an hour to receive what we ordered. The service wasn't terrible - just didn't happen. Finally, I went to the counter to cancel our order so we could move on to the museum (we had a ticket time). Blushing was a surprising treasure to find while walking from our hotel to the Rijksmuseum. My mom, who converted to veganism, saw the menu of healthy food and demanded to stop. We waited and waited and three more groups walked in. Still no server. Just as we go to leave the server arrived. We sat back down while the server started at the front(we were in the rear). Both of us were starving so we were upset it may take awhile with all of the orders. My mom ordered a green juice, Chardonnay, and a soup with a vegan brownie to finish. I ordered a chicken and pesto sandwich with a kola on the side. I'll admit it. I was surprised in a good way at my lunch. The sand which was nice and crunchy with so much flavor. The Fritz-kola I got was also so good! Much more refreshing than Coca-Cola. My mom also really enjoyed her meal. Sans the brownie. I tried it, but it wasn't my cup of tea. It was definitely a "healthy brownie." I would definitely come back for that chicken pesto sandwich. It was exceptionally good. We were really hungry after visiting the Van Gogh museum and Blushing is directly across the museum so we just went here. I was hesitant as anything near a touristy spot is usually meh but we were presently surprised! The coffee was great and we had various roasts that were well made. Misled by the "health" claim, we found ourselves in, well, a French gay bar from the 1950s? A mishmash of color and frills and mirrors and larger than life close ups of the owner, Dutch singer Gordon. The cheesecakes and Amsterdam style Apple pie, whatever that may be, looked yummy, definitely not healthy. Slices were all very different in size though, really unprofessional. I would like to give this a better rating but I feel mine is merited. It's so adorable and well decorated and looks very chic and trendy. So that's great I come in and sit down and I order an espresso and need a minute more to decide what to eat but then it takes probably 8 min for the waitress to come by again but only after I flagged down a waitress that wasn't mine. I ordered the eggs Benedict which comes with smoke salmon and avocado and it was good except the hollandaise sauce tasted like straight mustard? The poached egg was over cooked. And also i felt it was overpriced at 12.75€. It was like two small pieces with little salmon and little avocado. So the price and service were a little poor which is why I docked two stars.
