I was there earlier this month for Urban Groove's end of year dance show, which was a blast!! Music and bass were clear and loud, and although i was near the back of the room on the first floor, the show looked very good. Actually, I was shorter than the people seating in front of me, so I compensated by seating on the armrest of my seat ... Thanksfully nobody was behind me! There's a bar in the lobby of the building, where two tall, burly man served as bouncers. I didn't get anything to drink, but prices weren't cheap. It was 3.50$ of bottled water after all. Cool place! Not the biggest or most modern, but has lots of charm.

And i mean price: 4$ cocktails and wine, 5$ beers - The venue was a decent enough size to accommodate the 550 people there for the show - The music sounded perfect (not too echo-y not too flat) Cons: - NO COAT CHECK SERVICE. In November u either had to leave ur coat in ur car or u had to keep ur coat on u the whole show and the venue got pretty hot with all the dancing bodies so u just had to hold ur coat the whole time. - They served all the alcohol in GLASS ... So obviously there was many a broken glass and beer bottle at the end of the night...as well as spilled booze all over the floor...made it pretty dangerous to dance around by the end of it... - There were plenty of kids...which is awesome that they love the Cowboys too...but dangerous for them by the end of the night (many a drunken barely-adult sloshing around...and lots of broken glass) But the evening went off without any of the potential disasters occurring and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. We should have recorded it. Other patrons were laughing so hard and amazed by our improvisation. I really appreciate the care and diligence the staff put into making sure I was safe in Montreal especially since I was a solo female traveler. Parking was easier than other Montreal areas. I was able to dine at a restaurant prior to the show. The bar didn't have food service. I will definitely go back when I revisit Montreal. I felt safe.

Our nightlife is what makes our city and I really hope the provincial and federal government get together behind some actual coordinated support for these crucial local businesses. I used to live near Hemisphere gauche and have walked by all kinds of different crowds gathered outside, it's so awesome to see how different kinds of communities can feel welcomed in live music venues and bars and I love walking by and feeling, not just unthreatened, but somehow welcomed in their midst. I've sat on the window ledge here and enjoyed a cheep beer and the people watching, and I've rolled in here with a crew of badass lady friends after another bar closed and the staff let us take over their karaoke set up and drink whiskey and sing all our frustrations out till closing time, no fuss.

I've never gotten food but I think they do have some. I think the side tables and high chairs aren't too comfortable but unless you show up early, you won't get the prime tables in front of the stage. It does get a bit hot inside and sometimes there is a cover charge so keep that in mind. I think the location is great for live music, the sound is clear and you see clearly.

We got the club sandwich and the chicken wasn't that mock fake stuff you get at half the restaurants this was seasoned and real chicken. They also used maple bacon and put a slice of cheese in there. Not a single complaint was made that meal and I'm super picky about how my bacon is cooked and I didn't even have to order well done they nailed it. Cesar was nice as well but one of the best things was the fish tacos. It's not usually my thing but they were the best ones I've ever tried! my friends agreed and I now have to come back just for those. Poutine is great as well they give you real big chunks of curd cheese but the real best part is their fries, just a hint of sweetness. Great service this family run location is a must try.
