    Rainfall shower
    Courtney O.

My husband and I were in town to visit Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios and found BLVD Hotel & Studios based off of distance as we weren't renting a car for this trip. Check in went quickly and the staff were really friendly and welcoming! Their lounge area looked pretty modern, but on the smaller side. They did have a decent bar area and a market for snacks and drinks. The lobby area gave off a more homey vibe...our room on the other hand, did not. While our room had all of the amenities, it still felt like it was lacking some kind of personal touch. The bathroom looked clean to the naked eye, but the shower and sink would not drain after we used them. There was also an a/c unit in the room that did a good job cooling us off, but was very loud when it kicked on and off which was annoying at night when we were trying to sleep. I also didn't think the bed was very comfortable and the pillows were small - almost the size of throw pillows which was weird. We also heard weird tapping and clicking noises at night - no idea where it was coming from. We didn't use the microwave, fridge or coffee maker since it was a quick 24 hour trip. I honestly think I might have complained about some of the stuff had we stayed longer, but I didn't find it necessary for a 1 day trip and being there only to shower and sleep. I know that the hotel was doing some renovations and I think our room was redone, but you could see paint splatter in certain places like either they did a fast job or no one came to inspect once it was completed. Overall, I don't think I would book this hotel again even with it being only about 4 blocks from Universal Studios. I left thinking that I don't think the room was cleaned very well and we were also exhausted from a bad night's sleep.

    Mold in the bathroom

Very disappointed with my stay at BLVD Hotel & Studios. There were hairs on the sheets, a spider crawling on the pillows, mold in the bathroom, and the sink would not drain. The old AC left the room humid and uncomfortable, and the pillows were cheap and flat. Overall, the hotel did not feel clean or well maintained, and I would not stay here again.

A baby cockroach on the provided shower towel.

This place was terrible, point blank. Service itself was... subpar? There were cockroaches present throughout the duration of our stay, most of which being in the shower/bathroom area. The room was also just dirty. The bedding felt unclean, the floor felt sticky and tracked visible dirt in a clean towel, and the mirrors look like they had been cleaned with a 30 year old squeegee. Upon arrival, we were hit with a surprise surcharge and notice that we would need to pay $30 A DAY for parking. After returning back to the hotel after our first day, we arrived to a light fixture sitting on the bed, exactly where either one of our heads would've been. The socket was completely exposed, and it seems like the light wasn't properly secured whatsoever. This was an extreme disappointment, and our disappointment grew more after reporting it to the front desk. The man we spoke to seemed disinterested and like he didn't actually care about what happened. We were told that maintenance would come by and fix it, and they did. However, it seems that they stepped on the bed with uncovered shoes, leaving a print on the bedding. The parking lot itself is completely asinine. The parking spots are doubled up, give or take about 7 spots in total on either end that are singular car-length spots. They require that you pull your car in all the way meaning that you'll potentially be blocked in. If you happen to block another car in, you have to leave your keys at the front desk so a random hotel employee can move your car. If you park in the farther of the two spots, and a car isn't in front of your own, you'll be double charged for double parking. This was not said to us directly, and is instead presented on an easily missable and very small sign off to the left side of the front counter. Sounds like a great concept, doesn't it? If given the option, I'd never willingly pay money to be subjected to such an awkward parking solution again. The bed and pillows were both just alright. No positives or negatives, both my girlfriend and I were neutral about this. As for the sheets, they had rips at the corners and seemed really worn. The shower on the other hand, the shower was another major downside. I have never operated such a pointless and overly-complicated shower in my life. Others have summed it up perfectly and I back everything said, so I'll let their words carry this section of the review. Everything said about this place is true, even all this time later. This place seemed great from the Google reviews, but the Yelp reviews tell a different story. Avoid this place at all costs.

red hair on our bed sheet

Bed bugs...I just noticed a few hours after waking up my body is covered in bites and i'm itchy everywhere. not only was it so effing dirty but there was dust and hair every where. Piss on the toilet and it smelled like a crack house. I emailed them about this because i want my money back!! I couldn't sleep because it was so unsanitary it kept me up

The pool that is attached to the parking garage

From the moment we walked into the room, we were hit with an atrocious odor. There was absolutely no view to speak of. The refrigerator made loud popping and ticking noises all night long, making it nearly impossible to sleep. Safety and cleanliness were clearly not priorities here--smoke detectors were hanging from the ceiling, and garbage was overflowing in the parking garage. Speaking of the garage, that's where the so-called pool is located. It's a 15x15' hole in the ground, completely unheated, and not even remotely appealing for a six-year-old on vacation. The entire hotel reeked of marijuana, including the hallways and lobby. Hot water was another issue--don't expect a quick shower. It takes a full 10 minutes for the water to warm up. This hotel is not within walking distance of any respectable restaurants, and I would not recommend walking in the area at all, especially with children. It felt unsafe and uncomfortable throughout our stay. Avoid if you're looking for a clean, family-friendly, or even moderately comfortable place to stay.

    Bedside outlet doesn't work.
    Jessica S.

This was one of the worse hotels I've ever been in... Cons: * Toilet flush is very weak. I'm so glad I never had to poop here. * The shower didn't drain so my feet were fully submerged during my shower. * Both bedside lamps turn on but the outlets did not work on both. However, the desk lamp's outlet works. * My AC was not set to F° Pros: * Front desk folks are nice though!

    The Modern Bathroom

it's a three hour wait to get out room once we got inside the room looks like a private suite I went to the market to get a cappuccino, and it was the best cappuccino I ever had in the bed feels comfortable, people were so nice They have a lounge and a bar. this is an amazing place. I would recommend this.

    Nice size bed!
    Jessica M.

When we arrived we thought this is very nice! Then we noticed the tears on sheets, the smelly drain kept us from using this restroom and used the other one. The sheets were also very torn and needs updated sheets that aren't all destroyed. At night it got very hot and stuffy in this suite it was hard to sleep in an 80 degree room, so I wouldn't recommend this hotel this will not be a hotel I would return to.

    King room
    Nyssa B.

Not even gonna lie, I was a little nervous to stay here after reading the reviews. We arrived a little after 3pm to check in I was informed my room wasn't ready yet which is a little annoying as check in time is stated as 3pm. I was told it would be 15-20 more minutes before my room would be ready. Room was a nice size, pretty clean just a little depressing as there wasn't much natural light but we weren't going to be spending all of our time in the room anyway. The surrounding area of the hotel was a bit rough around the edges. Due to the homeless encampment across the street in an empty parking lot. Also, the parking situation is a bit odd. Overall, the hotel is decently priced for the area.

This is the cushion I left in the room, the 1st was much worse. Wish I took a photo

Would they be able to hold my bags after I check out if I'm visiting universal the day I check out?

How old do you have to be to check in?

Hello Bianca V., We appreciate your question, our check in age is 21 years of age or older

Is there a breakage deposit? I booked a room for the month of June through hotels.com and on the bottom of my reservation it states that there is a breakage deposit of 250 dollars? I have never heard of this. Is this correct?

Yes, $250 deposit, which will be refunded as long as no damage happens in the room.

Is there charge for extra adult in a 2 queen bed suite?

There is a charge for everything here, so probably. And they don’t compensate extremely disappointed or dissatisfied guests, nor do they provide apologies, just excuses.

    Is the pool heated?

    Heated pool. Very nice!

    No breakfast at this location?

We do not have breakfast, we do have a grab n go cafe with items for sale. Some of these items are coffees', soft drinks, bagels and snacks.

I saw a room with a patio in the photos. Do all rooms have this feature?

No. We stayed in a king suite that was facing the street and we did not have a balcony.

The clerk wasn't outright rude, but for the first several minutes seemed pretentious, like I wasn't good enough to stay there. He didn't introduce himself or ask my name; I introduced myself and asked his name after check-in, and he warmed up a bit. It felt like I'd caught him doing something wrong or arrived before he was ready. I had to ask multiple questions because he didn't offer information or engage. My customer service was on point--his, not so much. I'd been driving all day and was exhausted, wearing very casual clothes, but he felt very judgey. I asked to see the rooms after reading reviews. The first was rundown and not worth the $150 he quoted. He kept going into the back office between questions, implying he was busy or nearly full (there was only one car outside). When I asked to see the other side of the hotel, which had allegedly been updated, he bragged about being fully booked, though I only ever saw three cars. Odd. The second room was just okay, but I was too tired to find another hotel, so I stayed one night. Few things frustrate me more than visible neglect and lack of detail. There were drywall screw heads popping out, scuffed walls, holes, and water-damaged bathroom drywall from a poorly placed glass shower door--crumbling onto the floor. The floor itself was dirty. The outer entry door was peeling badly, shedding bits of clear coating onto the floor and my hands. The blinds appeared to not have been cleaned in months--which should be done regularly. The bed frame was filthy--dust, debris, bits of wrappers and food. It was clearly dirty, with oils, handprints, and dried liquids (I'll leave that to your imagination). The closet doors, off-white, had visible hand grime. The disinfectant wipes I used were brown - yuck. The lamp was dusty, an outlet near the bed had a broken metal piece stuck inside, and both the bathroom vent and hair dryer were caked with dust. The dryer filter hadn't been cleaned in ages. The countertop above the mini fridge was detaching, the bathroom shelf was decaying, and the shower glass hadn't been cleaned. The creamy drip marks on the wall--hopefully conditioner or soap--remained, and the grout was mold-stained. A simple bleach spray would've fixed it. The shower water pressure was awful, with calcification that needs vinegar soaking. It also leaked from the stem. Meanwhile, the sink had too much pressure. The cleaning staff were wonderful--always offering help. The issues here clearly stem from management, not staff. I realize this isn't a four-star hotel and that my standards are higher than average. Having worked in property management and emergency response, I've been in many homes across all conditions and know what "clean" should look like. I attached photos (which don't even capture all of it) so others can decide for themselves. Public beds and showers should be cleaned frequently so dust, germs, and bugs don't build up. The initial clerk did warm up by the end, and wasn't outright rude, just awkward and pretentious at first. When I checked out, a different man was working. He was extremely pushy, insisting I stay longer despite me saying I had to get back on the road. Then he handed me a clipboard and said it was mandatory to fill out--a sheet listing my name, room number, and space for comments, stacked under previous guests' notes. I told him I'd review the hotel online instead. He insisted I fill in each section, so under "comments" I wrote "review on Yelp." Other than being pushy, he was friendly--but it was an annoying end to a stay that wasn't worth the cost. Not the worst stay I've had, but definitely not one I'd repeat.

After years of using Hilton properties, including staying at this hotel in the past, we found ourselves in a difficult situation due to a flight delay. We only needed a very small favor: to hold one bag for about 2 hours so we could take our daughter to Universal CityWalk to buy something before heading to the airport. Instead of showing even the smallest amount of empathy or understanding, we were treated as if helping a family with a disability-related situation was some kind of burden. The assistant to the office manager, Ariel Larios, displayed behavior that honestly felt far below the level of basic human decency and hospitality that anyone would expect from a Hilton property. There was no patience, no compassion, no willingness to help, and no effort whatsoever to understand the situation. The entire interaction felt cold, dismissive, and focused only on extracting money rather than helping people in need for a simple 2-hour request. What made this even more disturbing: * We are Hilton Diamond members * We stayed at this hotel in previous years * We clearly explained the disability-related difficulty * We only needed temporary short-term assistance * There is no clearly disclosed written policy online stating that short-term luggage assistance is unavailable unless you purchase a room Rather than showing courtesy or appreciation for years of loyalty to Hilton, we were effectively pushed into paying around $220 for a full room simply to receive basic luggage assistance for 2 hours. This experience made it feel like Hilton Diamond status means absolutely nothing at this property unless you are actively spending more money that exact moment. Returning customers, families with disabilities, and even basic human kindness appeared completely irrelevant. Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City should be ashamed that a simple request for temporary help turned into such a cold and humiliating experience.

Stayed at The Tilt Hotel at Universal Hollywood (Ascend Collection) from Jan 2-4 and had a very…read moredisappointing experience. The room had a noticeable odor upon arrival. While it looked superficially clean, there were visible cleanliness issues, including what appeared to be mold or heavy dirt around the sink area and at the top of the shower. Several basic amenities did not work properly: * No hot water for the majority of our stay On Jan 3, after spending the entire rainy day at the amusement park, I returned to the hotel freezing and in need of a hot shower, only to stand in the shower for over 40 minutes waiting for hot water that never came--the water was barely lukewarm * Air conditioning did not work * Shower handle and window knob were loose We contacted the front desk multiple times starting around 10 PM on Jan 3. Staff acknowledged that multiple rooms were experiencing the same hot water issue, yet guests were not notified. We were told room changes were not possible and that refunds were not allowed, even though we considered leaving to stay elsewhere due to the lack of hot water. A maintenance worker came briefly and said he would return but never did. The next morning, after continued follow-up, housekeeping tried to help by preparing another room so we could attempt to shower, but the water was still only lukewarm. Housekeeping staff were kind and did their best, and they deserve credit for their effort. Overall, the lack of hot water, cleanliness concerns, poor communication, and inability to resolve or properly accommodate a known issue made this stay unacceptable. This experience fell far below expectations for an Ascend Collection hotel.
