I spent 12 hours here for LA bachata festival. Overall, i have a good experience. The hotel environment was well maintained. The conference rooms are spacious. Our festival have hundreds of dancers. 3-4 classes occurring at once. Never once that i felt it was too crowded. I dined at the hotel lobby restaurant. My food was decent. Pricing wasnt bad and my waitress was fast and attentive. Lastly, me and my buddy danced til 130am. It was safe and great experience.

The Sheraton at Universal is great. I used to stay at that Hilton next door but this Sheraton is way better. You can walk to city or the Universal Studios park but they have a shuttle that's on a digital map so you're not left wondering when they will arrive. The Club is on the lobby floor where breakfast, snacks and coffee/water/tea is available for status Bonvoy members. AC in the rooms works great. Nice and modern. The Club Lounge was perfect with their fancy coffee machine. Love the food and service. Valet was fast. It was $66 I think to valet vs $58 to self park. Will stay here again.

Convenience and location but the 2 days Thursday/Friday on their calendar the rates were extremely High compare to the week before and after.Rooms were first sold out then they released rooms 2 days before if you could secure one even not able to book with points. Finally got a room and had a chance to use my CC Free Night Awards okay that was good but then also used my Free Nightly Upgrade award which was granted but got a standard room instead of the DELUXE Upgraded room. Brought this up at front desk and after check out they did not return my unused UPG AWARD. Talked to customer service and still waiting so much for PLATINUM member , has this happened to anyone else? Hotel: Standard double bed room old hotel but nice updated and clean no issues .Club Lounge for platinum members to relax , free wifi , breakfast and snacks , refreshments. Lobby is busy with a bar , they also have a restaurant , coffee spot and grab and go shop to purchase other drinks and food. Shuttle to Universal very convenient specially with children. Self Parking garage $55 overnight stay and yes I would return again if going to Universal Studios Hollywood.

We had a wonderful stay here! The hotel was clean and the staff were helpful ready to help when needed. The rooms had comfortable beds and the shower was one of the better for a hotel. The rooms had a mini fridge which was great for snacks and drinks. The bar was great and the room service was quick and really tasty. The hotel is a short walk from universal but they also have a shuttle service every 15 minutes to the park which we took advantage of. We will definitely be back!

Just a heads up, this post is specifically about the room; the venue itself isn't terrible, and I had really good customer service throughout the facility, from check-in, to the bar, to the coffee shop and so on. Helpful folks, ready to assist. But my cabana-side room was fairly narrow, not well laid out and somewhat dated in decor and fixtures. Some of the bedroom reading lights looked about to fall out, and the room a/c - heat was pretty loud. Also on the building side where I stayed there's a good bit of hum -- the 101 freeway is right there. The gym is solid and fully equipped though and the pool is large (but seasonal). Looks like lots of conference room space too and the coffee shop is ok. Not sure I would stay here again though. Location just doesn't do it for me.

I've stayed here a few times now for my universal trips. This is definitely more of a fun hotel if you are platinum status of Marriott because then you get access to the lounge where they have hors d'oeuvres in the evening and breakfast in the morning. They also have some snacks and refreshments throughout the day if needed. If you have to pay for lounge access though, I'm not sure if it's worth it. This park is very close to Universal. There is a shuttle but you can just walk if you don't mind a slight walk up a hill. Don't forget to take the elevator by the Hilton to save you some of that hilly walk. We usually just walk to the park when we stay here and it's nice to go back and forth and have the option. The hotel is nice, But it can be pricey, so I wouldn't recommend it if you were here for a long time over doing something other than going to Universal. Also remember that if you don't have lounge access, you don't get free breakfast, which is a bummer but there are paid breakfast options on site if you need it. Self parking is also a whopping $55 so if you come here without a car no biggie, but just be prepared that it's more expensive to park here than the actual parks which is wild to me. Overall this is a solid hotel. The bed is comfortable and I do like the lounge amenities. Being close to the park is also very nice. But if the parks aren't your priority, then there are other places you could stay for cheaper.

The Sheraton Universal Hotel is a solid choice if you want to be close to Universal Studios Hollywood without overthinking logistics. The shuttle service is convenient, and while you can walk, that uphill trek will definitely make you feel like you earned your park day. The hotel has a fun old Hollywood glam vibe that feels fitting for the area. The rooms are on the smaller side, but they are well designed, comfortable, and perfectly fine for resting up after a long day out. It's an easy, reliable stay with personality, which I always appreciate.

Staff at the front desk check-in are profession, informative, and get you checked in right away; They really know their stuff and are straight to the point. Rooms were clean, nice comfy pillows, comfy bed, plenty of towels, and the best part- shower has water pressure :D There are shuttles apx every 15 minutes to take you to Universal Studios. Easy walk from the parking garage to the hotel entrance. I would definitely stay here again.

So if you are ok to pay two different 'tourist' taxes, additional 10% tax on $63 for valet parking (self parking only couple of bucks less), and another 20% tax in the restaurant which is INCLUDED in your bill, and all that on top of $400+ (after discount) per night...then you're good to go.. Sure..the bed was comfy but after visiting a dancing event and getting in bed at 6.40 am..I'd sleep good even on the floor..lol But even with that....i don't think the room is worth over 400 bucks. When you sit on the toilet and have to look at the plumbing 'guts'...nah...

Stayed here for a quick New Year getaway and got upgraded to a suite which made my stay feel extra special. The suite was spacious and well laid out. It had a bar area with a microwave, two small fridges, and a coffee maker, plus a dining area, living area, and a powder room. The bathroom setup was great. Walk-in closet with vanity table, shower, bathtub, dual sinks. One thing to note is that the bedroom is not separated from the bathroom, which may or may not a preference depending on the guest. The bed was super comfy and I spent most of my time there just resting. While the room does feel a bit outdated, it was still clean, nice, and totally comfortable. Nothing that took away from the experience. Overall, a really pleasant stay, especially with the suite upgrade.

Spacious king bedroom and very clean!

Everyone has their pros and cons and here are mine - Pros: Walking distance to Universal within minutes and the shuttle is extremely convenient! Spacious and clean rooms and amenities! Can't say enough of how sparkling clean everything was inside and out of my room! Staff were so nice and always had a smile on their face! You can really get a vibe out of a place based on that. Con: Didn't realize that here were two areas of the hotel - tower and lanai. I was put in a corner room in the Lanai and was interrupted all night by freeway traffic! If you are a sound sleeper, PLEASE ask for the tower as much as possible. Rookie mistake. Save the trouble. All in all, I enjoyed my experience to the hotel. A nice, clean, historic part of the Universal experience. Choice of room is particular for a great night of sleep, but a very comfortable room within a short distance to Universal Hollywood.

Does the in room coffee maker use the traditional size K-cups? I would like to bring my own if it will fit. Thank you.

No, the coffee makers in the rooms do NOT take Kcups. A little tray holds the coffee bag (similar to a tea bag) and you slide the tray in and out of the coffee maker. I hope this helps!

Has anyone ever had concerns about bedbugs at this hotel?

    I doubt it

Yes, we just stayed there last weekend with our two kids and we walked back and forth from the theme park a few times. Was safe and well lit in the evenings.

Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City Shows Zero Courtesy to Hilton Diamond Members, Returning Guests,…read moreand Families With Disabilities As a Hilton Diamond member, I am honestly shocked and deeply disappointed by the complete lack of humanity, compassion, and basic courtesy shown by Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City. After years of using Hilton properties, including staying at this hotel in the past, we found ourselves in a difficult situation due to a flight delay. We only needed a very small favor: to hold one bag for about 2 hours so we could take our daughter to Universal CityWalk to buy something before heading to the airport. Instead of showing even the smallest amount of empathy or understanding, we were treated as if helping a family with a disability-related situation was some kind of burden. The assistant to the office manager, Ariel Larios, displayed behavior that honestly felt far below the level of basic human decency and hospitality that anyone would expect from a Hilton property. There was no patience, no compassion, no willingness to help, and no effort whatsoever to understand the situation. The entire interaction felt cold, dismissive, and focused only on extracting money rather than helping people in need for a simple 2-hour request. What made this even more disturbing: * We are Hilton Diamond members * We stayed at this hotel in previous years * We clearly explained the disability-related difficulty * We only needed temporary short-term assistance * There is no clearly disclosed written policy online stating that short-term luggage assistance is unavailable unless you purchase a room Rather than showing courtesy or appreciation for years of loyalty to Hilton, we were effectively pushed into paying around $220 for a full room simply to receive basic luggage assistance for 2 hours. This experience made it feel like Hilton Diamond status means absolutely nothing at this property unless you are actively spending more money that exact moment. Returning customers, families with disabilities, and even basic human kindness appeared completely irrelevant. Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City should be ashamed that a simple request for temporary help turned into such a cold and humiliating experience.

The clerk wasn't outright rude, but for the first several minutes seemed pretentious, like I wasn't good enough to stay there. He didn't introduce himself or ask my name; I introduced myself and asked his name after check-in, and he warmed up a bit. It felt like I'd caught him doing something wrong or arrived before he was ready. I had to ask multiple questions because he didn't offer information or engage. My customer service was on point--his, not so much. I'd been driving all day and was exhausted, wearing very casual clothes, but he felt very judgey. I asked to see the rooms after reading reviews. The first was rundown and not worth the $150 he quoted. He kept going into the back office between questions, implying he was busy or nearly full (there was only one car outside). When I asked to see the other side of the hotel, which had allegedly been updated, he bragged about being fully booked, though I only ever saw three cars. Odd. The second room was just okay, but I was too tired to find another hotel, so I stayed one night. Few things frustrate me more than visible neglect and lack of detail. There were drywall screw heads popping out, scuffed walls, holes, and water-damaged bathroom drywall from a poorly placed glass shower door--crumbling onto the floor. The floor itself was dirty. The outer entry door was peeling badly, shedding bits of clear coating onto the floor and my hands. The blinds appeared to not have been cleaned in months--which should be done regularly. The bed frame was filthy--dust, debris, bits of wrappers and food. It was clearly dirty, with oils, handprints, and dried liquids (I'll leave that to your imagination). The closet doors, off-white, had visible hand grime. The disinfectant wipes I used were brown - yuck. The lamp was dusty, an outlet near the bed had a broken metal piece stuck inside, and both the bathroom vent and hair dryer were caked with dust. The dryer filter hadn't been cleaned in ages. The countertop above the mini fridge was detaching, the bathroom shelf was decaying, and the shower glass hadn't been cleaned. The creamy drip marks on the wall--hopefully conditioner or soap--remained, and the grout was mold-stained. A simple bleach spray would've fixed it. The shower water pressure was awful, with calcification that needs vinegar soaking. It also leaked from the stem. Meanwhile, the sink had too much pressure. The cleaning staff were wonderful--always offering help. The issues here clearly stem from management, not staff. I realize this isn't a four-star hotel and that my standards are higher than average. Having worked in property management and emergency response, I've been in many homes across all conditions and know what "clean" should look like. I attached photos (which don't even capture all of it) so others can decide for themselves. Public beds and showers should be cleaned frequently so dust, germs, and bugs don't build up. The initial clerk did warm up by the end, and wasn't outright rude, just awkward and pretentious at first. When I checked out, a different man was working. He was extremely pushy, insisting I stay longer despite me saying I had to get back on the road. Then he handed me a clipboard and said it was mandatory to fill out--a sheet listing my name, room number, and space for comments, stacked under previous guests' notes. I told him I'd review the hotel online instead. He insisted I fill in each section, so under "comments" I wrote "review on Yelp." Other than being pushy, he was friendly--but it was an annoying end to a stay that wasn't worth the cost. Not the worst stay I've had, but definitely not one I'd repeat.

The location is excellent--easily accessible from the freeway and conveniently close to Universal attractions, making it a great home base for exploring the area. The valet team was efficient, friendly, and welcoming throughout our stay. Unfortunately, the individual we assumed to be the valet manager was a stark contrast. He appeared visibly frustrated and annoyed at all times, was rude to guests, and was openly disrespectful toward his staff, which was uncomfortable to witness. Check-in was quick and seamless, and the lobby is beautiful with stylish décor that creates a great first impression. Our biggest disappointment was the condition of our floor in the Portola building. Upon entering the elevator, we noticed a strong smell of cigarette smoke but assumed it was temporary. Once we reached the fourth floor, however, the odor was overwhelming. It smelled like old, stale cigarette smoke reminiscent of vintage Las Vegas casinos. Since the property emphasizes that it is non-smoking, we immediately notified the front desk. To their credit, they responded quickly, submitted a maintenance request, and placed another room on hold for us if the issue couldn't be resolved. Unfortunately, while we were out to lunch, we received a voicemail stating that the alternate room was no longer available. When we returned, the hallway still smelled heavily of cigarette smoke, only now mixed with deodorizer. During our stay, several other guests mentioned having the same complaint, and some reported that the issue had persisted for days. The odor was strong enough to be nauseating at times, and we were unable to leave our balcony door open because it pulled the smell from the hallway into our room. Dining was another mixed experience. We found it surprising that no food service is available anywhere on the property between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., especially considering check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. and many guests arrive after traveling. We did enjoy a fantastic lunch at The Front Yard with excellent service at the bar. Based on numerous recommendations, we also made reservations for brunch on our departure day. Unfortunately, brunch was underwhelming. We ordered three different dishes, all of which were bland and seemed noticeably under-seasoned. On the positive side, the taco cart near the pool and patio area was outstanding. The tacos and elote were some of the best food we had on the property and are absolutely worth trying. Overall, this hotel has many strengths, including its location, beautiful grounds, and several standout staff members. However, the persistent smoking odor and a few operational shortcomings significantly impacted our experience. With better attention to those issues, this could easily be a much stronger property.

While it looked superficially clean, there were visible cleanliness issues, including what appeared to be mold or heavy dirt around the sink area and at the top of the shower. Several basic amenities did not work properly: * No hot water for the majority of our stay On Jan 3, after spending the entire rainy day at the amusement park, I returned to the hotel freezing and in need of a hot shower, only to stand in the shower for over 40 minutes waiting for hot water that never came--the water was barely lukewarm * Air conditioning did not work * Shower handle and window knob were loose We contacted the front desk multiple times starting around 10 PM on Jan 3. Staff acknowledged that multiple rooms were experiencing the same hot water issue, yet guests were not notified. We were told room changes were not possible and that refunds were not allowed, even though we considered leaving to stay elsewhere due to the lack of hot water. A maintenance worker came briefly and said he would return but never did. The next morning, after continued follow-up, housekeeping tried to help by preparing another room so we could attempt to shower, but the water was still only lukewarm. Housekeeping staff were kind and did their best, and they deserve credit for their effort. Overall, the lack of hot water, cleanliness concerns, poor communication, and inability to resolve or properly accommodate a known issue made this stay unacceptable. This experience fell far below expectations for an Ascend Collection hotel.

Traumatizing Experience…read more I stayed at Nite Inn Universal City from May 30 - June 1, 2025. On the morning of checkout, the glass shower door in Room 114 spontaneously shattered while I was closing it, causing multiple cuts to my hands and feet. I was standing inside the shower, barefoot and stationary. This was not due to misuse -- just a dangerous, defective door. The front desk staff showed little to no concern, offered no first aid or professional cleanup, and initially refused to give me management's contact information. I was not offered another safe room, just a different shower in a recently vacated one - only the shower was cleaned by the front desk. Tiny shards remained in the bathroom, making it unsafe. What's worse: this could have happened the night before, or while my children were using the shower. I followed up multiple times -- management refused any reimbursement, (I felt a refund for 1 night -$400, was more than reasonable), and instead accused me of breaking the door. Despite photos clearly showing the break was spontaneous and my stationary position, they denied all responsibility. No apology, no care for guest safety. Avoid this hotel if you care about basic safety, accountability, or professionalism. I gave them multiple chances to come to an amicable solution and was instead met with hostility and callousness. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK. I'm sure if everything went well, you would be ok with this basic motel due to it's proximity to the Universal Studios shuttle.

For our mother-daughter trip to Universal Studios, I was looking for a no-frills stay within…read morewalking distance of the park. All local rentals were booked or terribly expensive so I figured we would give it a chance. I was pleasantly surprised. It's quite small but it's clean and surprisingly quiet. Staff was courteous and recommended several dining options within walking distance. We didn't drive so the walk of two blocks to the Universal Studios shuttle stop was greatly appreciated. We also walked 15 minutes uphill into the park for quite the workout. The continental breakfast consists of packaged pastries and bagels but there are a few great breakfast options nearby. I would actually stay again, despite the Zelle prepayment that freaks so many out.
