Telling me her manager would be bringing the item in whenever she felt like it and would notify via instagram. She shrugged me off. When she realized how rude and unnecessary her energy was, she tried to overcompensate in friendliness. Nothing about this store was big fun, and not how a toy store should be!

We shop here every year because you will see toys here that are not to be found in any of your "normal" stores. I've been to the Toms River, Hamilton, Lawrenceville, and Old Bridge stores. Toms River is my favorite of the 3 and Old Bridge my least favorite. Sometimes I find great deals and sometimes I don't. You do have to know your prices though because there have been items I passed on things due to knowing I could do better elsewhere. They used to have Pantene shampoo often at lowest price anywhere but I haven't seen that in a while. I got a better deal on a brand new Hamilton Beach K-Cup coffee maker there a couple of years back which was cheaper than Amazon and Walmart at the time. Don't go with expectations and just look thru the whole store. I always leave with several items even if they weren't a thought in my mind prior to walking in.

Ocean Grove has a very nice 2 block section of Main Street that has many distinctive shops. We patronized the store in Asbury and were quite happy when the store relocated (and survived Hurricane Sandy). The proprietor is a very friendly sort who seems to actually like what he does and appreciates our business. Now that we have 2 grandsons, we will be frequenting the store. The store itself is a treasure of wooden toys, dolls, puzzles and books with hardly a battery operated toy in sight. Who knew - toys that allow children to use their imagination instead of a button. They have a great selection of Playmobile toys as well as a large selection of wooden train engines (Think "Thomas"), a favorite of our oldest grandson. Prices tend to be a little higher the the big box stores but this is my kind of shopping. Take a trip to Ocean Grove (the boardwalk was destroyed but the town is intact), visit all the shops, stop at Nagle's for ice cream and then go to the Store By The Shore.
