I have been banking with WF since 2003 starting with my home mortgage with them. Very satisfied…read morewith their service and the ease of ATMs all over town. My credit card is also through WF and they have a hyper vigilant fraud detection department. On several occasions, they detected fraudulent charges before they spun out of control. Prime member status is a plus and comes with great benefits. I also like their online banking interface, the ability to deposit checks without envelopes, and deposit checks using a smartphone app.

I want to share a disappointing experience at the Wells Fargo branch in Spring Lake Park…read more I was contacted and offered what was described as a safe deposit box (locker) upgrade for the same price. Based on that information, I agreed to close my existing box. However, once the old box is closed, it cannot be reopened at the previous rate. When I was later billed, I discovered I had been charged the new, higher price. Customers should be clearly informed that closing an existing safe deposit box means they cannot get it back at the old rate. This is important information that should be disclosed upfront before asking customers to make a decision. Clear communication and transparency are essential. I hope Wells Fargo provides better training to its staff so customers fully understand any pricing and policy changes before agreeing to them. In my experience, this was an unethical way to conduct business, and I encourage others to carefully review any account or service changes before accepting them.

Chose them because they were Certified B Corp and do a lot to support the community, but they have…read moreterrible customer service and I'm concerned about their security. I've had several fraudulent charges in the year and a half since opening the account. I've tried to flag them online but it doesn't work. Every time I call I'm on hold for 15-25 minutes before someone picks up. If I select the option to get a call back later it takes hours if I hear back at all. There isn't even an option to quickly cancel my debit card without talking to a teller, which I feel is fairly standard security. Will be switching banks. Love the ethics but I can't be at a nonfunctional bank.

I got through to the operator, she transferred me and it rang several times. Finally got voicemail. I left a voicemail hoping to hear the next day, as they promise on their message. They have yet to return my call. Called back two days later and the same thing happened. I refused to leave a voice mail this time and when I got upset the operator found a banker for me immediately. Why? What were they doing before I got upset? I don't think I'm unreasonable. One reason I chose a smaller bank was that I thought I would get better individual service. Unfortunately, I felt I had to leave a complaint based on my experience. I left a voicemail for the branch manager of the SAP branch. Never got a response. They may go a lot for the community. Great. But the individual customer is viewed as an annoyance,

This bank is awful. I had to go into a branch 3 times in two days just to get a payable on death…read moredesignation. Why? Because the bank employees are totally incompetent. They demanded that I bring in my partner because her signature is required. I told them it wasn't. They insisted it was. Clearly, it isn't as I could name someone living in another country and they are not going to come to Mpls to sign a document. I finally relented and brought my partner after having made an appointment. I waited for 45 minutes and finally saw a so called "banker." And, of course, my spouse's signature wasn't required. Duh? How much time have they wasted of mine as well as my partners? Way too much and no apology. What a worthless bank.

The check was…read morestolen from the mail, the payee crudely altered, and U.S. Bank cleared it and paid the fraudster. A well known check fraud expert wrote a report showing that U.S. Bank was negligent. Uniform Commercial Code regulations make them responsible to reimburse me. But they refuse on the grounds that their deposit agreement makes them free of liability, a position that UCC regulations specifically do not allow. The fraud happened over 1 and 1/2 years ago and I'm still fighting to get reimbursed. U.S. Bank has shoddy low cost check clearing processes. They recoup the cost of frequent check frauds by refusing to reimburse. If you take them to arbitration they send a top 50 corporate law firm to oppose you. And they only allow aggrieved customers to use a single arbitration forum, the hopelessly business friendly American Arbitration Association (see my Yelp review of AAA). At one time I had 4 U.S. Bank accounts, for myself and for a trust I manage. I've closed all of the accounts and moved them to other banks. I strongly recommend consumers stay clear of this shoddy bank that defies Uniform Commercial Code regulations and chooses to abuse its customers when it serves their bottom line.
