Yeah! I was sooo looking forward to this class with Board & Brush and The Fancy Marshmallow Co. The collaboration of the two Cedar Park small businesses has been all I could talk about. Greeted with excitement, owner Rochelle of Board & Brush had me check in on her iPad. Showed me to my seat where we chatted for a bit. I saw my project in its raw form. I'm so excited to tackle this project. This is actually my second time coming so I know a little of what is expected. Rochelle does an amazing job taking you step by step and helping you. Even if you're not a crafter, never even handled a paint brush, Rochelle, and her staff are very patient, and very helpful. You start off with a raw board of pine. You're given a couple minutes to release your stress on the board. Hammering marks using chicken wire, a hammer, a mallet, and a large screw. You'll sand it lightly, and then stain it. Then it's time to stencil. Using a semi dry brush, you'll dab your brush on the stencil. Give it a minute under the fan to dry and peal the stencil off. And you're pretty much done. You get an official Bb logo sticker to complete your project. I recommend signing and dating your project on the back. Viola you're an artist! The Fancy Marshmallow Co. owner, Tina, she is such a sweetheart. She set up her beautiful marshcuterie spread. All made from scratch. Soft, fluffy, and flavorful treats. She has the cutest treats. All kinds of shapes and sizes. My favorite is the strawberry champagne. Trust me, they are amazing. Tina also brought in her hot cocoa mix ingredients and we all got to make our own bag of hot cocoa mix to take home. And we got to pick our goodies from the marshcuterie and box them up in the cutest boxes with heart printed tissue paper. Such a sweet touch to a fun class. I highly recommend coming to Board & Brush. Such a fun girls night out. They are BYOB, so it's a great group celebration. The Fancy Marshmallow, such a cute boutique, I've been several times. Tina comes up with the most delicious home made treats for all holidays and celebrations. Her boutique is the girliest cafes in Cedar Park! So darling. Check them both out. 5 stars! read more

Board and Brush is amazing! We at Blonde Faith Salon had our Christmas party here the other day and I had so much fun! All of the staff were so welcoming and accommodating for handling such a large volume of us- I love the selection of boards they had to choose from online prior to coming in- I was a little nervous that it was going to be a lot like some other crafting places where the end result isn't always the best or wall-hanging-worthy, but that's not the case here! It's totally full proof as they have all of the boards and decals pre-cut when you arrive! It's still very hands on though [from doing your own distressing, staining/painting, waxing, etc..], but they leave no room for a bad result~ I love my board so much! We came to Board and Brush for the first time and in all honesty I have mixed emotions about the experience. First, the location in itself was easy to find. It's BYOB so you can relax and enjoy a drink while you make your project. When you arrive they already have your wood project laid out along with your stencils of whichever wording you want to place on your project. Then begins the process of making your project come to life which they show you step by step. We came in a large group and I was very excited to start but the B&B worker that was assigned to our table, Amanda was her name, honestly took the excitement away from me. First, for someone like me who has never done a wood project before I obviously had questions about the different stains and washes you can do. Amanda made it clear to me and my friends that she was annoyed with the questions. She did not want to answer and just kept saying "this is your project, it's whatever you want". Whatever, I decided to just move on and pick a dark gray wash. Then it came time to staining our boards in which Amanda told us all to put our gloves on. I put on my gloves but then my hand itched so I took it off really quick to itch it and out loud Amanda said "Why did you take your glove off, you're supposed to have it on." I'M ITCHING MY HAND SIS. Plus, there were at least 4 others around me who still didn't have their gloves on so why are you singling me out only? Also, why are you speaking to me like I'm 5. I put my glove back on and moved on. Then it got to the stencil part and my words were rather long so I had to be tedious about putting them on and peeling back the paper - it took me a little longer then others and Amanda said "are you freaking done yet?" My coworkers and I could not believe what she just said! I get that we're a big group and she's probably stressed but that's no way to treat someone. For the rest of the session, every time she would come up to me I would just ignore her which she eventually asked me if I was happy with my project and I said that I was happy with my project but not with the service and after that she left me alone. I do not understand what her deal was but she really took the joy out of my first time here. The other workers seemed really nice and I wish they had been assigned to our table instead. I will definitely do Board & Brush again but I will not work with Amanda again. Aside from the service of just one of their staff members, the others seem nice and I would recommend this place to others. read more

This place is amazing! My husband and I went for a Friday date night (he was the only guy in the studio - it's definitely a "girls night out type of place). For $65 you get to create your own wood sign. It's a sign you'll actually want to hang up in your house and looks very professional. The process: Choose a sign from their gallery online. Register for a studio spot and give any personalization details for the sign. Show up with food and drinks - it's BYOB and you can also bring food/snacks or order pizza from next door. Hammer and pound away on your board to distress it - it's a great stress reliever. Sand your wood. Choose your stain and stain your sign. Place stencil and then paint it. Re-sand and wax your sign. That's it! The whole process takes about 3 hours. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. Looking forward to another fun night at Board and Brush! read more

Had a fun night out and tried out Board & Brush upon a friends recommendation. Very organized. Lots of sign formats/designs to choose from (which you can then customize to a point). Class was hands on -- and you had an assistant to help out if needed. You start with distressing the wood, sand it, paint it and then apply your chosen design via a custom stencil. And then at the end of the night you get to leave with your new custom creation. Think of it as adult arts & crafts, but something that you will actually hang onto and display on your wall proudly (as opposed to macaroni art from when you were a kiddo). Board & Brush certainly surprised me! This was my first experience going (we went with a small group to celebrate my sister in laws birthday), so I wasn't too sure what to expect. They allowed you to arrive half an hour before the DIY class started (for a happy "half hour" they called it) which is a fun little social time plus you get to check out all of the neat boards they have to get ideas from. It wasn't too crowded plus they had a little station for us to put our drinks/snacks on. The class started and we were walked through the steps by both an overall instructor and our table had our own assistant- Lisa. Lisa you were SO fabulous! She really amped up our experience by her lovely bubbly personality, and she made sure to visit everyone in our group to make sure that we were doing everything correctly. They had music going in the background and overall this class was so fun, and worth the $! I will definitely be back for another class! read more

My wife has been multiple times and loves it. I went this time with a small group (4 of us) I was filling in for someone that had to cancel. I was doing her project and would give it to her later. Everything was going fine until we started placing our stencils. We had 3 smaller boards of various sizes. The instructor placed a stencil on my board. I mentioned the sizing didn't seem right but she assured me it was right. I rolled with it and it came out just fine. We moved on to the other boards then she said I put the wrong stencil on the wrong board in a tone that suggested I messed the whole thing up. I was thinking to myself, yeah I tried to tell you that but oh well. Keep in mind we had the picture of what it's supposed to look like on my wife's phone. We were painting one of the next boards and she yelled at me from across the table that I was using the wrong colors on the stripes and told me to wipe it off. Everyone's looking at me at this point and I'm a little embarrassed which is hard to do to me. Again, I'm looking at the picture from when we signed up and going off that, based on the picture I was doing it right. She seemed like she didn't quite have a handle on what was going on and her demeanor left a lot to be desired. My wife's had many great experiences there. This review is more a reflection on the instructor not the business. I would go again and hope we get someone else next time as my wife has raved about some of the instructors in the past. read more

I have done many workshops like this but my first time here. I felt like I was a child in school from how the staff treated everyone in our party and they were all so rushed and lack of clear instructions that a few of the signs did not turn out very nice. On their Facebook page they have lots of photos of small(ish) children and adults making signs. This is misleading. Children are actually not allowed. I did not realize this when I looked at the photos and then purchased a Mother's Day gift for my wife to have an outing with our 12 year old. Turns out its buried in the website that 15 and under not allowed without purchasing a private or special party. They also do not refund. Not a good Mother's day experience. read more

I had a lot of fun here! I was part of a large party. Our guide was running around trying to help everyone at our table. I was left behind trying to figure what my next step was. She'd come to help me and another person at my table would always have a more pressing question/problem. So she'd have to leave me in the middle of instructions to help them. The owner tried to come help with our table, but I felt he kept getting annoyed that I didn't know the next steps. I felt frustrated, flustered and lost!
