Texted Boathouse Marine Center in Pompeno on a Sunday for a service and repair situation on my Yamaha 3 00. Received quick response from Habib. He got me in quickly, communicated 100% of the time they had my boat. I knew the cost up front and received A++ service. Their boat slips are very easy to get into even on a windy day. After spending $7000 for Boathouse to unsuccessfully repair my starboard engine that kept going into limp mode, I took the boat out of there after Matt told me it was going to be another $7100. Part of the work they did to repair the engine, Matt told me I needed new batteries and the battery control switch panel had to be replaced. They did this work and I paid 7K for it. After I got the engine fixed by another mechanic I can't start the starboard engine without paralleling the batteries. Never had to do this before. Called Matt who refused to work on the boat and repair what they messed up unless I took down my last review. Not happening. So far it's cost me $440 to straighten out the wiring on the battery switch panel and replace a defective battery they put in the boat. But the digital gauges in the tachs don't work, they were fine before Boathouse worked on it, so the mechanic will be back next week. I'll find out how much more it will cost me to fix their lousy work then. read more

I only went here to assist a friend in looking over and doing a sea trial on a boat in which he was interested. When he gave me the address, I was at first very leery since this was once the location of Hideaway Marina which was operated by one Pierre Gaudreau who had acquired what may best be termed as a most unsavory reputation for his dealings within the boating industry who had piled up a good number of civil complaints and was in fact later arrested. However, happy to say, Hideaway Marina and Pierre Gaudreau are long gone and have nothing whatsoever to do with the new Boathouse Marine Center. Boathouse Marine Center is basically a place for smaller, primarily single, twin and triple outboard engine boats from around 18 to 28 feet. The boats are mostly all stored indoors on racks and placed in the water when their patrons desire to take them out. The service department is good, well stocked and the services and other staff, competent, polite, knowledgeable and basically a pleasure to deal with. I bought a new boat here and am satisfied with the purchase. Rocky was our salesman and was very helpful with the process. He was very organized in getting all the paperwork completed. Last time I signed so many forms I was buying a house! It was mostly a positive experience. Receiving my registration and trailer tag took a considerable amount of time and I would suggest they use another company to do the legwork. When I called Rocky about that issue he took care of it immediately. Aside from the registration all else went very smoothly. They even gave us a nice gift basket. My first service was ok when I purchased my Boat last year because of the amount of work it needed. Jim and Matt like when you spend money. My bill was over $5,000 so I was a good customer to them. After 1 year passed and I only needed my annual maintenance which cost much less - they were much less interested in helping me. Their excuse was that my Pro-line Boat was too old. The old Pro-line Boats were made better then the new ones (whcih they happen to sell). LOL PS - the prior owners of my Boat took incredible care of this beauty - custom oversized hard T-Top with integrated LED lighting, completely re-wired, USB's, 12 volt adapters, All LED lighting everywhere. I love this Boat as much today as the day I purchased it. These guys were contracted to replace my cable grommet. Instead of suggesting that they replace the rigging tube (as long as everything is taken apart anyway), it would only make sense to replace a $30 rigging tube. They put things back together without replaceing the rigging tube - REALLY ? Wouldn't that have made sense to replace the rigging tube??? Not to Boathouse Marine Center, they want to charge the $300 labor again. Why should I be able to save $300 when everything is already apart from the cable grommet install. OBVIOUS - they are in it for the $$ money only. Mo money - mo money - mo money !!! So instead of taking ownership of their oversight and taking the high road - (whcih would have forced them to take the cables apart again) They decided to take the low road and that's when they gave me that cockimamy BS story about my Boat being too old so they wouldn't have to take things apart again. They didn't seem to mind the age of my Boat on the first 2 services where I was spending allot mo MONEY $$$ Hmmm - that's interesting... WOW - is that the way you do busness at the Boathouse Marine Center ??? No quality control and Matt is just Jim's little puppet - poor guy !! You sent a mechanic to my home for "no cost to you" becasue I had ALREADY PAID YOU for a faulty trim motor that went bad after only 1 month. You had no choice but to fix it and fix it at my home since it was in my driveway broken. Hey Jim - lets share with our readers when you mechanic left my home after reinstalling a new tilt motor, he forgot the cotter pin for my throttle cable. WOW - that was fun on a Saturday - at idle speed only, up the intracoastal waiting to be towed. AGAIN - your mechanic forgot to put the cotter pin back on my throttle cable. NO POWER on a busy Saturday. Great job there too. 2. "Key Switch Issue" I dropped my Boat off by water and it ran and started perfectly. Matt even said they drove it to the fork lift perfectly. I NEVER had a problem with my "Key Switch" before. But for some strange reason and all of a sudden the key switch wasn't working when the Boat was out of the water. 3. Hey Jim - if " it is BHMC policy not to work on boats older than the year 2000" then WHY DID YOU WORK ON MY BOAT 2 PREVIOUS TIMES when I was spending allot more money? 4. I purchased a new 33' Southport from the Boathouse. The entire process was seamless and good. This is my 3rd new boat purchase and by far the best. The Southport boat is great and has proven to be an ideal boat for our multiple uses. The service department at Boathouse has been very accommodating with my requests and time frames. Any issues have always been resolved quickly and fairly. Some of my requests have been for custom work and they have been great in fulfilling these. It has been over a year of experience with the Boathouse and I have to say that they make you feel special and part of the family. I brought my boat there to replace my engines VP 5.7 GXI's. It took them 3 months, they didn't understand the problem, couldn't get the engines (brand new!) to work and I needed to hire another outside mechanic to assist them. After not fixing the boat...they overcharged by multiple times their estimate. You couldn't write a story this bad, but it actually happened. After a sea test and some adjustments, their mechanic left the boat at the dock for me to return to later. What a shock when I put my boat into gear "forward" and it lurched in reverse! My boat smashed into the seawall and dock causing damage and freaking out my 5 year old son. Thank God he wasn't on the swim platform which got crushed. Then after all the problems I got my bill and it was HUGE! Way more than they had quoted me. They wouldn't give me my boat back when I refused to pay their outrageous invoice. I had to call BSO to get them to release the boat. I am in the process of suing them in court in Broward. Boat repairs are notoriously expensive. But usually they fix your boat, not the case here! All please heed the warning.  They are all smoke and mirrors.  I had a conversation with one of their employees today at the show and it led to this.  They don't have mechanics who know what they are doing and so admit it to customers allowing customers to go to other service providers.  They are very slow right now and have turned away a lot of work.  This person used the names of Matt and Kurt do nothing but sit around.  Matt tells customers he first has to check with Jim and Kurt tells customers we don't have qualified people to do the job and Jim has no knowledge of the marine industry.  It a case of blind leading the blind. Customers have been sold parts they don't need, incorrect diagnose, the repairs take longer than promised.  It's become a horrible place to work. Recently purchased a used boat from Roger Whetstone at Boathouse Marine Center. I have been looking at used boats for several months and one I liked caught my attention. I made a call to Roger and he said it was still available so I made arrangements and came to look the next day, I liked what I saw so I made a deal right then and there. The whole process went as smooth as butter. I hired a surveyor to inspect the vessel before I made my final decision and Roger took the time to come in on his day off to make sure everything was done correctly, he even went to the owners house to grab the trailer and some other extra items that were included but not on site. I was also contacted after the sale was complete to make sure that everything was still good, which I was really impressed with the customer service I received. Dishonest business! Do not go there! Purchased a gift certificate for $250 for small engine service. This amount was supposed to cover the charge. I dropped off my working 1 year old engine for a tune up and after 2 weeks they claimed it was "gummed" up and needed extra work charging $500!!! I agreed to give them $50 but they would not release my engine. After numerous letters and hours spent I unwillingly paid an additional $200 on my Amex. (Amex refused to credit the charge because of the "fine print" disclaimer on Boat House invoice.) read more

I have spent a life's savings in this marina, and all for nothing because when I go here to tell them to fix something, I pay a hefty price and I end up having the same problem 2 weeks after. Been going to this place for over 3 years and no problems at all. Dropped off boat last Tuesday and did not get boat back for til the following Monday. I know they changed service managers recently, so not sure if that is part of the problem. Upon getting my boat back I was told it was around 450.00 by the service manager. When I went to get the boat my bill was 700.00. Asked what happened to 450.00 was told I misquoted you. I later found out that the bill was going to be higher because the were going to sea trial before giving it back to me. The new service manager also said to me I need wiring work done to clean up under dash, Told him that Boathouse marine already did that last year, why do I need again. I am not saying that the work they charged me for was not done, I am saying I felt taken and will not be returning to them. Boaters beware !!!!!! read more

Do not do any business with this marina. They are dishonest.They told me it was free to have a boat dropped from the rack into the water but from the rack to a trailer they would charge $10/foot. The young lady in the front office told me that the charge for dropping the boat onto the trailer included the "professional" trailer adjustment so I could be assured of a properly trailered boat. I agreed and we set up an appointment. I dropped off trailer and told them I wouldn't be back until the afternoon - no rush. I got a call from the same young lady telling me they couldn't do the work because the "winch strap was too short." When I questioned her, she told me the trailer was too short for the boat as well. On a subsequent phone call, she then told me my trailer needed repairs and they weren't in the business of doing trailer repairs. When I asked what specifically needed to be repaired, she told me the tires needed air and the winch strap was too short. Needless to say, the boat stayed in the rack and was not placed on the trailer. They wouldn't release the boat to me on the trailer for insurance purposes. When I picked up the empty trailer, the gentlemen working in the yard told me the boat would fit fine - when they told the front office it would take 2 hours to do the work, the office told them not to do anything because they had other things to do. If the marina had called me to tell me to reschedule or perhaps charge $12/foot, I would understand, but just not do the work because it actually would take 2 hours to complete?!?!? I had them drop the boat in the water (for free) and I loaded the boat on the trailer at a public ramp. The boat fits perfectly on the trailer with roughly 30 minutes of work that I did at the ramp with 2 wrenches! After telling my story to friends that are private captains/mates, I've not found one person that has a positive story to tell about this marina. I think the guys in the yard seem to be good and honest but the decisions being made from the office are pathetic. Do not get involved with this marina! read more
