The volunteers at the USO are the nicest people in the planet! Upon arriving, they opened the door for us and greeted us as if we were long time friends. After checking in, they explained the layout of the lounge and allowed us to relax. Later while the hubs was chatting with another servicemember, I sat on the chairs in the TV lounge and began crocheting. A volunteer noticed and asked me what I was making as she is a knitter and then she showed me her gorgeous blanket she was making. She told another volunteer (also another knitter) about me who came over to look at my work in progress. The absolute best USO experience!! read more

It would have been nice if the USO lounge were easier to access. I've tried to visit every time we've had a very long stopover at LAX but it's always difficult. There's no wheelchair assistance and you have to cross a big street. These make it hard for anyone handicapped or those who have heavy luggage to carry. It is also closed on Saturdays which is frustrating because that's often the day of our layovers. Having more accessible entrances, shuttle service, or extended weekend hours would make a huge difference for our traveling military members. read more

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at the USO in LAX. As a 100% disabled veteran traveling with both an infant and a toddler, I expected at least basic consideration and support. Instead, I was turned away at the door by volunteers who were inattentive, dismissive, and downright careless. Because we were denied entry, I ended up having to change my infant outside, on the street, which is not only humiliating but completely unacceptable for an organization meant to support service members and their families. The volunteers showed zero empathy for our situation, and their attitude made an already difficult travel day significantly worse. I've used USOs across the country for years and have never experienced anything like this. LAX USO seriously needs to reevaluate its training, its policies, and the way its volunteers treat veterans--especially those traveling with small children. Horrible experience, and incredibly disappointing. I truly hope no other veteran family has to go through this. read more

This is a free lounge for active military located outside of the terminals. Friendly service by the volunteers. They do such a great job. They had a variety of sparkling water, snacks, sandwiches, and more. I recommend checking it out. Although it's free, don't forget to tip to help with the costs since it's such a great place to hang out and they are all so nice. read more

I have been to a ton of USO while I've been in and this is the first that's not 24/7, plenty of USO's have places people can sleep, shower, and just rest. Also it's way outside of the airport not just outside of the gate like some but a whole separate building. read more

I have two nephews in the military so I donated to the USO. I indicated that this was my only contribution for the year so to please not waste it by sending more solicitions for money. In the last 6 months I have received 5 more such mailings. Totally wasting my contribution and some of yours as well. Will not be donating to them again. You can't be a veteran and not understand the importance of AUS O at an airport. And if you're a family of a veteran you should be thankful that these places exist. And If you have you've never known someone in the military or seen the USO stop in and introduce yourself. They would be glad to show you what they do. I have never been to an airport where it wasn't a center point for veterans who were traveling between stations and forts. I remember my stops at the USO during the war and while I was on active duty while I was traveling. But I was traveling. It was safe haven a place where I get where I could go in have a cup of coffee or tea have something to eat and get a magazine maybe play some cards just relax and not have the pressure the airport and everything that's going on around you to become the focal point of your day. It was a place to just relax . And the people that work there are service volunteers to our community is our community of soldiers giving Them the family connection that they miss so much. Thank you every person that is ever volunteered at AUS O whether it's an airplane terminal or a train station train station or some city that takes care of its own. God-bless them all. read more

We love this USO! It's brand new on the inside and the volunteers here are exceptional. The "gear room" was adequate for plenty of luggage and secure. The snack bar and lounge area was top notch and had plenty of nice comfortable seats and good food options! Definitely would recommend stopping by here if you have a long layover or get to the airport early! It is kind of confusing to find as they moved. I am a retired US Marine. Last night, 9-6-2024, my wife, arrived at the airport early to pick me up. Despite showing her military dependent ID she was not admitted into the USO. The volunteer that met her at the door said her ID was not valid because it had "Department of Defense" written on the ID. It is a standard military ID. The same she has been issued and carried for the past 32+ years. This is the first time any USO has denied her entry into a club in the US or overseas. I know retirees are admitted on a space available basis, but that was not at issue last night. Very disappointing. I hope it was a poorly informed volunteer and not a new policy at the LAX USO. read more

During this Covid pandemic, this location is understandably closed down. But let's talk about this iconic building. It's smack dab in the middle oval of LAX. It looks like a white space ship landed. Even closed, there are cute plants surrounding the perimeter. Lots of spiders and ladybugs this day. There is construction all next to it. Overall, a chance to take off your mask and check out the hibiscus, cacti and walk around in the air. read more

Stopped here after traveling over 18 hours from Bali headed to Phoenix. Had a 10 hour layover and they were an absolute godsend! We were able to grab some lunch and some snacks and take a solid four hour nap before we were headed to the next flight. The customer service in there was amazing. Everyone was so kind and the food was delicious. Extra special shout out for the Girl Scout cookies. They hit the spot. read more

Nice facility and really well appointed for a USO! We had some time due to Crowdstrike delay and popped over to relax, watch some TV, and have some drinks and snacks. They had a great selection and the volunteers working there were the best! Hopefully we'll get by there again on our next trip to the mainland. read more

As a retired USAF veteran this is by far the best USO I've ever visited considering this was my first. The staff there was very warm and welcoming as I was checking in waiting for my flight. As I sat down and began I realized how many amenities they have. They began to serve all beef hot dogs, Ramen cups, boiled eggs, burritos and sandwiches. They also have a variety of drinks as well as fresh coffee. All this is complimentary. They have computer access as well as charging ports for your phones. They even have showers in the bathrooms which is a plus. This is by far the best USO I've ever encountered! KUDOS to all the volunteers that take their time to serve us! read more

I wrote an email to V. Br!sc0e, but it was ignored. As a medically retired veteran with a DOD ID card, I have been a faithful donor to the USO for 25 years. My flight was recently delayed, so I tried to use the USO facility to rest, but entry was DENIED. Medically retired veterans with DOD ID cards should be able to access the USO on a space-available basis. Noteworthy, the place didn't have a lot of people in there. It is disheartening to see that active-duty military dependents are granted access while veterans who have bravely put their lives and health on the line for this country are denied entry. You should extend the same privileges to our veterans as you do to active-duty military dependents. Acknowledging and supporting those who have bravely served our beautiful country is important. read more

USO has what it needs. There were only about 10-15 people there at a time, so plenty of space. No sleeping area, just sitting. For food, they had noodles, hotdogs, and some snacks. For drinks, they had water, coffee, brisk, Gatorade, and orange juice. Staff is very friendly and helpful! read more

Horrible! I served 20 years in the army deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan! And yet I was denied entry to the USO! They are only servicing active duty personnel. It is nothing against any acting service men or women. But the USO administration needs to reconsider this because you are turning away the veterans who have already sacrifice so much some more than these active members have yet to sacrifice it is mind-boggling that they would turn away any veteran.! read more

Great USO. Beautiful newer facility. Front door locked for security, they came out, checked we had valid retired military Id. Sign in front clearly explains who is eligible to enter. USO has never supported veterans, only active duty and retired on space available and others as the sign explains. Welcomed us in, gave us a quick tour and had access to drinks, sandwiches and snacks. Showers, sleeping rooms, kitchen and large eating area with tv, game shelf and tv/movie lounge. Great friendly volunteers. If you don't meet the requirements don't complain you didn't get in. If you were in the military you had to follow the rules. Same here. read more

Great reception by Mel, checking in was easy, facilities very clean and nice. Now the bad parts; the lunch lady made me feel like a street beggar when I asked for two sandwiches then got snarky when I asked if they had any baked chips. They keep all food and drinks locked up so you have to ask for whatever you want but they don't have a list of what they have. I'm thinking they end up tossing a lot of food out. Recommend bringing your own food. Somebody needs happy pills and COO training. read more

Love this USO. It's not located inside the actual airport but it was close to my terminal and getting through security wasn't an issue. I spent about 2 hours at the USO. This is a great USO It is across from Terminal 6C ---- You have to tell your Soldiers about the USO. I'm surprised at how many servicemembers don't know about them. Twice I've been stranded in LA and found myself at the USO. They were a heaven sent today. Please spread the word, had today's incident happened to me a few years ago I would have been distraught and out of a few bucks. Thanks to the USO, my 12hr layover with a comfy couch, movie, coffee, light lunch, snack, light dinner, movie, plenty of outlets, FREE WIFI, and a shower w/toiletries only cost me $20 (because I left a donation) Could you imagine if you got stuck and you had kids with you? Nicest and biggest USO I've been to by far. It's very clean and newly renovated. I'd say it's better for very long layovers since this USO is outside of the terminals. They had a lot of pre-made sandwiches and things you could grab and go but also had hot food they served to order including hot dogs/chilli dogs. The sitting area in the main room was pretty packed but I was able to find a chair. I believe they also have private family rooms so the main section is not over run with kids and is generally peaceful. read more

Denied entry for the mere fact that I am a retiree with 20+ years of service vs an active duty member with give or take 1 year of service. I had a 9 hour layover from 10pm to 7 the next morning and just wanted a place to rest for a few hours. Was told there "may" be a chance that a bus full of priority patrons could arrive and my presence would take up their place. I asked if there was any attempt to ask the unwanted guests (retirees) to leave in the past due to space issues when AD members arrive, and the response I got was that isn't something they have time for. Wow!! The hospitality and all the amenities this place has to offer for military and dependents! I enjoyed a restless night here (not privy to sleeping in the unfamiliar while traveling solo)...so much better than being stuck inside the airport. There's snacks and drinks and showers and media rooms and internet stations and and relaxation room and family room and my oh my!! Did I mention showers?? The best thing about this place is that it is open 24 hours a day and it truly made my overnight layover a pleasant one! Thank you LAX USO! This is the best USO my husband and I have been to. Very clean facilities. We were promptly greeted and given a tour of the USO. We got some hot tea and coffee since we were cold and it was perfect. Had quite the variety of tea options. Afterwards we both took a shower and the restroom/shower was very clean. They offer towels/wash cloths if needed. We ate lunch and then rested in the rest room on the beds. Kinda sucks they don't lay flat and are more like loungers but we both still passed out for a few hours. We had a 6 hour layover and it felt like nothing being here. 10/10 recommend! read more

Excellent USO, and totally re-done as of Aug 18! Still working out some kinks, but very nice. For future consideration: maybe offer more privacy; recliners would make a nice addition; movie room needs a heavy curtain to keep light out and noise in. Only negative was listening to a female staff member (manager??) publicly expressing obvious impatience w/ a few of her volunteer staff -- Booooo on her! Thanks to the USO and volunteers! What a wonderful facility! It's available to military and their guests, open 24/7, and meant to be a place to relax and wait comfortably when traveling. It's basically a private club at the airport-- access granted to military, military dependents, and guests accompanying military travelers. We stopped at the USO, to freshen up, eat a snack, and leave our luggage because our flight back home didn't leave until late at night and we had to get out of the hotel. :) It is in a new location, and WOW! It's a great space. They have a relax room, a room you can leave your luggage, lots of delicious snacks including cupcakes donated by Susie's Cakes. Big screen TV was playing a football game. They had hotdogs, chili dogs, breakfast sandwiches, etc... The volunteers were all welcoming and so eager to help us all have a great experience. It felt like a wonderful place to be. Welcoming. Safe. Clean. Comfortable. This is a 5 star facility free of cost and run by volunteers. This is the first USO I've been to, but it's made a wonderful impression. Next time I travel with my boyfriend (Air Force) I know we will be sure to check out the USO. read more

What a beautiful new USO in the middle of LAX in the spaceship building. We were immediately greeted by a volunteer who was manning the sign in computer. We were told this one is one of only 6 that are open 24 hours a day to active military. There were clean restrooms, good food, showers and computers for use. It was comfortable and the volunteers were friendly. If you are an active military or a veteran this is worth the short walk as it is more comfortable to wait here with free food and drink! Wow wow wow, beyond impressed with this USO! My wife and I have traveled to quite a few USO's on our trips over leave and PCSing etc and this is by far is the most modern. As you can see from pictures they have a game room, showers, relax room (to catch some sleep), theater, cafe, and plenty of seating.
