Bob Jones is only for people who want to be depressed and unsuccessful in your future career as well as in your faith. Bob Jones professes to be a place that "shapes heads, hearts and backbones for Christ", but in reality they do the exact opposite. The curriculum, the student-life, and the rules all rather shape heads and hearts against Christ. During my time at BJU, which only lasted one semester, a lot of problems quickly became apparent. BJU has terrible leadership who are ill equipped to handle real world problems. Aside from preaching "abstain from appearances of evil", and "no sex before marriage", the staff have no real advice of wisdom whatsoever. Also, the professors on campus are no exception. The professor I had for most of my classes during my semester was supposed to be teaching history. However, the primary subjects of most of our classes were sex, pornography, and the philosophies of heartbreak and romance. The professor went as far as describing different sizes of male genitals. When I approached my academic advisor with this concern, no changes were made. No one reached back out to me after I filed my complaint, no adjustments were made to the curriculum, and that professor is still teaching some if not all of the classes pertaining to my major. The other professors I had at the time left rude comments on my assignments evaluating my comprehension skills or my abilities to retain information that had been barely taught. I had one professor who watched YouTube videos of fish instead of teaching. This is the top rated, high quality Christian education you are paying almost $30,000 dollars a year for. Outside of professors, the campus itself has a lot of problems. The Dining Common is always closed, which led me to spending about $500 dollars on basic meals in one semester alone. This is while I am paying about $17,000 for room/board/food alone. The rules are another large, unspoken issue at BJU. Men and women being in any form of relationship outside of "godly brother/sisterhood" is extremely scorned. But this isn't what you'll see if you visit the campus on a tour or check their social media pages. The handbook permits side hugs only for photos. Photos which are constantly on their social medias, which gives the illusion of a far more relaxed environment than what it truly is. In reality, anyone can disrupt a couple having a meal together or taking a walk. I was unable to have dinners or sit next to my boyfriend without being approached and accused of touching or giving "the appearance of evil". The tours, website, and social media also give potential students a look into dorm life. They show you happy residents, gentle, loving, caring staff and supervision, and kind roommates. However, this is the exact opposite from the true situation. The supervision and RA's show no care or compassion about anyone other than themselves. If students come to them, they blow them off. Demerits are handed out for having lights on one minute past curfew. There is no exemptions for being out of your room past curfew, including having to use the bathroom or get out of bed for any reason. I have been given demerits for wearing jeans to church, by an RA wearing jeans at the same time. The dorm supervisor targets those who are in relationships, because relationships could give the appearance of evil. There are no second chances or consideration coming from any staff. If one roommate is to make an accusation about another, it is assumed true regardless of the opinions of anyone else. For example, my roommates accused me of stealing and ignoring them and I was kicked out of my room. The true story was in fact that I had never stolen from them, and they found the misplaced item the day after I moved out. However, all the dorm staff and supervision treated me as if I was a terrible Christian and not worth the time it may have taken to explain myself to them. I was given two days to move all of my possessions from one room to another with no help from them. Favoritism is an issue even outside of the dorms. The arts programs and your success are completely based on how well liked you are by the professors. During my time at BJU, students were shoved around and removed from roles or activities because the professors or other students in charge just didn't like them. If they weren't removed immediately, they were led on and played with until the last minute, when the professor then publically humiliated them. BJU is entirely based on popularity, favoritism, and treatment based on whoever is making the payments. Student life staff have called me personally a slut, whore, failure, and told me that I would amount to nothing in life because I disagreed with them on one subject. The subject being an aspect of my personal life which had nothing to do with my education, and I had not gotten it involved in any aspect of my on-campus life. in short dont go here is sucks ass read more

Bob Jones University Tried to Ruin My Child We did our best to find a good Christian College for our daughter, who was looking to study for Business. Between BJU and PCC, BJU seemed to be the better option. It was recommended. We did our researched. What we liked: BJU is local church oriented. They allow students to attend the local church of (mostly) their choice. This is different from PCC, where they have a pretend church on campus. What we didn't like: BJU claims to be a KJV only college. They claim to use the version as their standard. We are KJV only people, so that was very appealing to us. However, BJU lies about this! They are very ESV forward. If the academics were decent (which they are not), we could handle the ESV atmosphere. But, they lied, and I am calling them out for their hypocrisy. 2.) Their academics are not great. Waaaaayy too many students are hitting the Dean and President's list every semester. I mean, it is a ridiculous amount. My daughter noticed that kids in her classes that were not that bright, and didn't even try were getting high marks. Things like that are unacceptable. What we hated: BJU promotes Plastic Christianity. Don't get me wrong, plenty of other "Bible colleges" do too, but my daughter did not go to those. Instead, we did our best to prep our child for the Fake Christianity, and she still came back different (more on that later). BJU puts on a good veneer, but they don't care about following Christ according to His Word. The Discipleship groups barely use or refer to their Bibles. They do not disciple at all. The dorm leaders largely do not care about those under their charges. They are there for looks only. The current president left his pastorate to become President, which (as a pastor myself) is an insult to faithful pastors everywhere. The spirituality of this group is shameful. It is fake. It is a sham. 2.) BJU promotes emotionalism. It saddens me to say that BJU programmed my level-headed daughter into thinking that her father was no longer an authority in her life. They taught her to follow her feelings, not God's Word. They promoted independence from your parents, instead of a partnership and accountability to them. My daughter came back different. Thankfully, she is doing much better now. But, we have had our struggles (to put it mildly), since she has come home. "Thanks, BJU! I entrusted my child with you, and you corrupted her! As a parent that put much blood, sweat, and tears into my child over the past 20 years, I cannot tell you how much I DO NOT appreciate you!" 3.) My daughter was struggling with trauma and depression, as the result of some events that happened in our home. My wife and I did not know the depths of this, but did recommend that she speak with a counselor onsite. Big mistake. The "counselor" barely made time for our daughter, gave her breathing exercises to do, and helped her not at all. Further, the Dorm Mentor (or whatever they call the older women they employ to "watch over" the dorms) knew my daughter was having problems and, instead of giving my girl a hug, sent her an email several days after the fact. This woman reached out to my daughter once. She cared for her not at all. That is the caliber of person caring for our children at BJU! Parents, I recommend that you keep your children far from BJU. They are not what they used to be, and care not at all for you or your children. They sure to care about your money though! Send your kids to a local, secular college instead. Our daughter visited several schools before deciding on Bob Jones University. Without a doubt, the thing that stood out was the personal attention from the staff. No other school came close to the concern and godliness of the staff. Some may reference rules, but honestly, most businesses have stricter rules for their staff. This is unashamedly a Christian school so not aligning with those values will have parents looking elsewhere. When I visited campus, the people were nice and friendly but the admissions staff and financial aid staff are terrible at follow up responses. I have had to call them several times after being told they would follow up with me. Surprisingly I get more follow ups and call backs from larger public universities where I thought I would be lost in the shuffle with thousands of students vs. Hundreds at Bob Jones. It made me second guess my choice at Bob Jones and Ive decided to go elsewhere. The idea of the smaller school was appealing where people would know me by name, not at Bob Jones, I was forgotten about shortly after being accepted. read more

The education is good, and my professors are all great! But unless you are qualified to be a town student, I would never recommend that you attend this place. They force you to pay good money for a meal pass, but the food is not only not tasty, but much worse it is mostly all half rotten and fake. When they do very rarely actually serve real meat, the staff will ensure that you at most get 2 oz of protein per serving. The only way to get halfway full is by waiting in the 10-20-minute lines 2 or 3 times. I have lost 5-10 lbs. every semester! You feel nonstop either hungry or sick from food poisoning, so you really must choose your poison. I and most of all my friends have resorted to skipping all but one meal a day, and I will spend $3 to get 2 double cheeseburgers from McDonalds. If the cost of food is too much for the school, they should either close the DC down or raise its prices and make it tolerable. I am so thankful that I am graduating this year because I really don't think that my body can take that kind of abuse much longer before giving out. It is sad that a good school has chosen to destroy their reputation among my class by starving us. It is so hard to focus on studying when you are left feeling sick from the food that you are forced to pay for. What we want as a student body isn't more variety and local milk, we simply want real food served in reasonable portions, that isn't on its last day before expiration, and on clean dishes. The DC is a sad disgrace to Christian exceptionalism and the protestant work ethic. read more

I only went there for a year (2015-16) and even that was beyond hard to endure. I myself grew up in a very conservative Christian home, but it was no match for BJU. I was repeatedly in trouble for things like forgetting to make my bed before 11am (can you believe they actually regulate those kinds of things for 20 something year olds??) to walking off-campus with my boyfriend (we weren't even holding hands the first time). Most of the students were fake, judgy, and very unloving. I had people pretend to be my friend literally just so they could bring me to the dorm supervisor and tell her that they thought they saw I texted a bad word. I went for piano pedagogy and honestly I was not pushed nearly enough. I was used to teaching already in high school, as well as competing in dozens of competitions, attending music camps, and being hired to accompany. I just really wasn't feeling at all. Especially for how much I had to pay out of pocket. I did meet my now-husband there though! So that's the only reason I'm glad I went. read more

After reading some of these novel-like, multi paragraph negative reviews, all I can say is, WOW! Maybe too much time on their hands, or a cry for some kind of help? If indeed a school had such influence in a city or even a state, would it really just stop there? These disgruntled, angry people conveniently dismiss the fact that there are "many" universities in SC that have more influence e.g. Clemson, Furman, USC etc. I attended between '92 - 96 and had a quality education. If one wants to see what the school's really like, then one should take advantage of the many opportunities to visit the campus and find out first hand what a fine school it really is. This review is surface only. We came about a month ago for a nationals competition. The campus is very quaint and beautiful. The trees and the flowers, and landscaping. The facilities were very well kept. The dorms were very nice as well. As far as I know they have a high school there as well, and I think a daycare or pre school? The food was NOT for me, I could stomach the salad bar but the rest had to go! A complete overhaul needs to be done with the menus and ingredients. As an overall observation the staff was semi friendly and the students were not so much, a little to much snotty attitude, it turned me off immediately. This is all my review will be about. Obviously "rob s." hasn't really done his research on Bob Jones Universirty. When Dr. Jones III was on Larry King Live, the policy on interacial dating was dropped (ie - exists no longer). Also, woman can wear more then dresses. Yes, the school does have alot of rules, but they are there for a purpose. His protests fall on deaf ears with the administration as his "Christian" roomates are very good at covering their tracks and tricks...What a horrible fake christian environment. Bob Jones University is, in short, a disgrace. It's true. But what is it that makes them a disgrace? Why do they deserve such a title? Let's examine their academics. Often a freshman-level class is remedial in nature. English classes center around basic grammar, middle school-level vocabulary, and the basics of writing a paper. These are the things one should have learned prior to college. And while a review of the basics can be a good thing, students and their parents are paying thousands of dollars for these remedial courses for the first semester or two! The jump in difficulty after the first year is not something to be ignored either. The average student has to suffer through intensely difficult classes after taking a year to settle into an easier pace. And students soon discover that the grading system used is more of a measuring stick for how much you failed. You see, students are not treated with respect at this school unless they have proven themselves to the faculty. There are many students who deserve respect at Bob Jones, but unless you're a suck up or a tattle tale, you often are regarded as nothing by the school. I've seen students work extremely hard throughout the year only to be humiliated during class by the teacher. And I've seen students glide through semesters because they were suck ups of the worst kind. Now, don't get me wrong, not all the teachers are bad. But in my experience, there were three kinds of teachers. There were the GAs, which were students working through graduate school. The GAs were pretty much all friendly and helpful. Then there were a handful of good teachers, Dr. Ormiston is an example of a tough but caring teacher. And then you have the rest of the teachers who looked down on most of their students. In the end, those who manage to make it through to graduation, will find that in most places, their degree is worthless. Because despite what BJU advertises, they aren't actually accredited. Sure, they're "accredited" by a group of southern religious schools, but that doesn't mean anything outside of Christian circles. That's four years (at least) and thousands upon thousands of dollars wasted, unless you plan to get a job with Bob Jones. And that would probably work out, since those that make it through are trained to think just like the school wants them to think. Students are not prepared for the outside world. The students are trained to fear the secular world, and jump at the mention of something unbiblical. One might call this level of conditioning "brainwashing." And that wouldn't be too far off. You see, despite claiming the Bible to be their foundation, the school actually wrote their own book of authority. This handbook claims to be inspired by the Bible. But that is an outright lie. While other schools might have rules like "Don't run in the halls." or "Don't bring drugs to school." BJU's rules are "Don't be outside your dormitory past 10:30 PM." and "Don't bring an iPod on campus." In a dystopian fashion, the lives of all the students, be they on or off campus, is invaded by the school's rules. Regulations cover everything from the kind of music they can listen to all the way down having to ask permission to leave campus. Students actually sign a contract that basically states that they will not exercise their first amendment rights.In fact, the school is so paranoid, that they reserve the right to revoke a graduate's diploma within the first three months after a student graduates. There is no appeal process for this. The school can literally make all those years worthless if they decide that you are not the kind of person they want you to be. Of course, they'll keep all the tuition they took from you. Finally, BJU ignores the concept of grace, while flaunting the concept of judgment. Students have to fear for their safety, lest they break a rule. Students are forced to fill out forms about what they did over break. If they broke any of the rules, they are subject to discipline. If a student is struggling with sin in their life, they cannot seek help. Because the most help a student is offered is mandatory therapy sessions. And that can still come with a side of demerits bringing them closer to suspension or expulsion. They practically thrive on punishing wrongdoers. Unless the wrongdoer is on their board of directors, as was the case a couple of years ago. It was then that they virtually threatened the entire student body to be silent about what happened. BJU is a disgrace. I urge you to stay away. read more

This campus is very pretty for being right off of Wade Hampton. They pay a lot of attention to the grounds and are just gorgeous! They have an awesome gym & olympic pool the only shame is that they don't compete against other schools so the full potential of this place isn't realized. They also host several dramas, operas, & other types of programs. Most of these are great quality shows...sometimes the operas can be quite boring but I'm not a fan of opera anyway. The reason that I am giving this place a 3 is that they are very conservative. Girls aren't allowed to wear pants in most places on campus & if a visitor comes on campus with pants on they are looked at strangely by some of the students. It's hard as a visitor not to stick out. Also, don't eat in the large dining area...they have made lots of improvements over the years, but it is still far from delicious. If you do decide to visit make sure you go by the Museum & Gallery located on campus. It contains lots of old religious artwork done by famous artists. Quite a treat if you are into art! read more

I went to another school, but a classmate of mine had a Girlfriend that attended this school for arts/music degree. As a senior about ready to graduate, she was grounded to campus for 3 months and administration threatened to take away her diploma/degree for being off-campus at a movie theater at 10PM on Saturday night (i.e. past curfew). She wasn't causing problems in town, just enjoying a movie with a friend. She complied with the school's gestapo/morality police due to almost being ready to graduate. Considering people pay good money for tuition to attend this school, they need to give students the ability to have some fun without treating them like mischevious teenagers. I'm a Senior at BJU, and I can honestly say I love this college and will have a hard time leaving it. Sure, the rules can get a little annoying at times, but that's not why I chose this school. I chose this school because of the spirit of those around me. I find that the president, the teachers and even my fellow students are constantly helping my relationship in Christ to grow deeper. There's a lot of bitterness going around. My advice to prospective students is to ignore the hatred coming from outside and to judge the campus based on what you experience while you're there. I received two degrees from the school (2014, 2016) and had an excellent overall experience - I grew spiritually, academically, emotionally, etc. and I've had success in work because of it. To address some of the issues brought up by low reviews: 1) Accreditation/Sub-Par Education/"Brainwashing": BJU is a candidate for regional accreditation and will likely receive it this June: http://www.sacscoc.org/details.asp?instid=17965. Their educational standards have always been high and their core liberal arts curriculum is excellent preparation for any workplace. The accreditation process has only strengthened already strong programs. Check it out for yourself before relying on random internet reviews. As for the "brainwashing" charge, the school has always been unabashedly Christian. They were started because they wanted to give Christian students higher education from a Christian perspective. But their motto has always been, "teach students how to think, not what to think." If you think you'll get an unbiased education anywhere, you're deluded. Every school teaches from some view of the world, but you hope that they teach you to be open-minded and look at the evidence. That's what BJU does. I was never told to believe baseless assertions without proof. Most textbooks used are the secular standards for those classes. 2) Strict Standards/Legalism/Cult: Again, this school was created for conservative Christians. If you're not a Christian who takes your faith seriously, you'll struggle here. That's just the bottom line. Doesn't make it a bad school or an oppressive school or a cult. It's tailored to help someone grow in all areas of life. If you don't want training in other areas than just academics, don't go here or you'll find it somewhat intrusive. But if you want to grow spiritually, grow some discipline, and become an adult, come. You won't agree with everything, but just know that coming in. Also - women can wear pants, students can go off campus without adult supervision, and in general everything feels super normal on campus aside for people being nicer and looking a bit nicer than normal. 3) Racism/Intolerance: The school had racist policies in the past. So did most schools. Clemson didn't admit black students until 1960, USC in 1963, Furman in 1964. Their inter-racial dating policy gets a lot of attention, and it was wrong. But it was also put into place long before black students were admitted as a response to an Asian parent's concern. Yes, they kept it for far too long. Yes, they dug in their heels to defend it to the Supreme Court. Yes, they've apologized for it over and over. And yes, it's been almost 20 years since it was lifted and the school isn't racist. In fact, in the wake of a shooting of a police officer in Greenville (whose parents teach at BJU), the student body signed a prayer banner for the black teenager who shot him and then killed himself. I should know, because I got to deliver that banner and they sent out an article I wrote about the incident to the whole school (http://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/opinion/contributors/2016/03/23/commentary-we-can-help-prevent-future-tragedies/82124438/). The school is still working on eliminating unconscious bias (like every organization), but overall has made major steps in the right direction (like celebrating MLK day). 4) Treatment of Women: Women are not taught to "be sheep" as one reviewer commented. As a woman, I was invested in, taught to be a leader, given leadership opportunities, taught to think critically, to speak up, to debate, to fight for what's right. Sure, not everyone at the school respects women in leadership like they ought to (like every organization literally everywhere), but it's an emphasis from the top down to change that culture. Hopefully these comments help you in making the decision of whether to consider the school. It's certainly not for everyone and it has problems like every university you might choose to attend, but it's certainly not the place people have made it out to be. I attended K5 and 1st grade at this school. Hated it. My parents took me out and I ended up at similar school in the upstate which I graduated from. I have been around and involved with things at Bob Jones and always knew the rules were insane and the teachers, graduates, and current students were arrogant and thought of themselves as superior to those that did not attend. However, this is not why I am writing this review. I am now working in a place of business in the upstate. We have a few new staff members that are Bob Jones graduates. They are great assets to our team and the above comments do not apply to them (refreshing!) Now to the one star review. We had a teacher at Bob Jones University come in to our place of business. She knew the staff members that had attended BJU. She enjoyed her visit, and even decided to tell one of the BJU staff members: good job on hiring BJU graduates, keep replacing the staff members with BJU grads. I AM APPALED! The arrogance and superiority that this woman spewed out of her mouth that day is rude and uncalled for. All of our staff members are highly educated both BJU grads and grads from other colleges. As a parent of a BJU student, I felt compelled to respond to some of the outlandish reviews I have read on here. First of all, I see a lot of comments that seem to associate the concept of rules with being a "cult". Bob Jones does have very strict rules; but why is that a bad thing? We, as parents, are not sending our children to college to be partying, drinking, and running around Greenville all hours of the night. I find it bothersome at best that anyone feels that not being allowed to run amok is somehow unfair or out of line. You can run amok, drink, party or whatever at home for free. My son has wanted to be a Bruin since he attended a BJU presentation when he was 12 years old. He has participated in everything offered to prospective students since he was 14 including "College up-close" and the summer camps. At no point during any of his visits did the school make anything about their rules and regulations a secret. My son knew exactly what was expected of him from day one, and he never took issue with it because he is there to learn and prepare for his future, not jeopardize it with immature college antics. The statements about BJU being "secretive" about their practices couldn't be further from the truth as evidenced by the fact that they literally open their doors to prospective students multiple times throughout the year and make their rules and regulations abundantly clear to those who participate. During "college up close" the visitors live as students and are held to the exact same expectations. Nothing that my son has encountered as a student was a surprise or shock to him. BJU is not ashamed of their doctrine, nor do they try to hide it. If a prospective student disagrees with the policies and beliefs of BJU, they certainly have the right to choose a school that is a better fit. It is the responsibility of college bound students to do thorough research of the schools they are interested in and to make educated decisions. It is completely unreasonable for anyone to expect an entire university to change its doctrine, policies and rules because a student did not take advantage of the opportunities afforded to him or her to learn about the school and it's expectations. The statement that the school is not accredited necessitates challenge as well. BJU has one of the highest med-school acceptance rates in the entire country. One cannot be accepted into medical school if he or she is coming from a non-accredited college or university, so that in and of itself debunks the theory that BJU is not properly accredited. For anyone who is considering BJU, I highly encourage you to attend College up-close (available both in the Fall and Spring) or one of the summer camps available each year. These programs will help the prospective student better understand BJU, how it operates, and what is expected. BJU is not a school for someone looking for a hard-partying college experience. BJU is a school for students who are serious about committing to academic excellence and who appreciate that the rules and guidance offered by BJU are important to achieving that success. BJU is also not a school for students who are not committed to growing in Christ. It is a Christian school and it does not hide this. Attending a Christian school and then being upset because the school practices Christian doctrine is unreasonable and ridiculous. It is what you make of it. People gripe and complain because of the rules...sure, some of them are stupid. But honestly, the school is changing its ways without losing the spiritual emphasis placed on the education. I've seen what people say about the students and honestly, they are responsible for themselves. Most of the people I know are great and very wholesome guys and girls...it really just depends who you choose to hang around. Anyways...I say this is a great place to be. If you tend to look more at the downsides of places, then like any college, you will find them here. Bob Jones University is a great place to go to college. Even though I at I did not attend my husband did. I was able to enjoy many things on campus. My husband received an excellent education and is in the ministry today. The people were always friendly to me but people will let you down if that's who you're looking to. My son also attended Bob Jones University and received an excellent education and loves and serves the Lord today which is the goal of the school hopefully it will stay that way. His major was music ed. and we both appreciate the conservative stand the school has taken in the music department. My daughter will be attending Bob Jones University this next semester. I know that many things have changed but I am praying that they are good changes to the honor and glory of God. I believe that you make or break any situation. If you're looking to be a blessing to others and to gain an understanding a better understanding of the Lord Jesus Christ Bob Jones University would be a good place to gain an education. It's not a perfect school there isn't one here on earth. Rules and regulations are always an important part of any good organization. Many of you may not understand some of those rules. I didn't always understand the purpose of some of them but that doesn't make it a bad place. If you ever experience being in an administrative position in a school or a business you will understand in a whole new light the reasons for putting guidelines into place. I felt comfortable about sending my son and daughter there to college. Knowing that they would receive a biblical education and that good standards and convictions we're being upheld. read more

I went to BJU in 72-73. If you don't want to obey the rules, you have a choice not to go there. I was happy about the rules. I liked the dress code. At that time, Sunday morning church was on campus and the woman students wore hats. I had several different hats to wear. I loved the food and the campus was beautiful. I have been back to visit three times since 1973, the last being in 2016. As a student there, I placed in the advanced New Testament Survey class, being that I had previous Bible training at my Christian high school. Beautiful campus, attention to detail, teachers who care, tough academics, they are accredited. Athletics are doing really well, and they're Shakespeare, opera and stage productions are some of the best ever. read more

I have had three daughters graduate from the university. 2 with Bachelors degrees and one with a Masters (and Bachelors). I am almost never impressed with anything, but this school by far is one of the most organized, most thoughtful and caring places.I have ever had my children go to. The school work is very intense. They have grown in all of the best possible ways. Don't listen to the naysayers, listen to a critic that has had his whole family blessed over and over by this institution. read more

Some of the finest people I know are graduates, faculty, or staff at BJU. They are truly reasonable, caring people who love and seek to honor the Lord with their lives. The academic standards seem to still be high after almost 100 years in existence. No school is perfect (all schools are comprised of imperfect people) but at BJU they are striving for excellence and blessing many lives with their training. read more

Listen up all Bob Jones Grads.....Don't get discouraged. I know no one out there wants to hire a Bob Jones grad...trust me I've been trying to get a decent job for the past three years but God answered my prayers and Wilmington Christian Academy N.C. saw in me what no other company or school could. I now have my own apartment and making more than minimum wage but my student loans will be a bear to tackle. read more

I am a graduate of Bob Jones University and my son currently attends BJU. In my experience the teachers genuinely care about the students and will go the extra mile to help students to be academically successful. They do have a lot of rules but the rules are clearly stated in their handbook and if you can't follow the rules you don't have to attend the school. Many people are uncomfortable with the school because while you are there you receive a lot Bible teaching. For those who want to grow in their Christian faith it is a great place to learn and be with other Christian brothers and sisters. You receive a great education. They will push you to do your best and offer academic help to those who ask. I attended other colleges so I can compare BJU to the others I attended. The other colleges were definitely easier and you could do whatever you wanted away from class. I loved the safe environment of BJU. I was there to get an education not to party. The gospel makes many people feel uncomfortable that is why there are so many negative post. read more

I graduated from BJU in May so I can give some updated information. The campus is beautiful with nicely landscaped lawns, but I'm not sure how long that will last. During my four years there, the student body got smaller every year. Mostly because people are realizing that BJU is not regionally accredited. They also do not have programmatic accreditation for their majors. For example, they don't have ABET accreditation for their engineering major. There is a negative feeling on campus now because they are laying off teachers and other employees, and they are eliminating majors left and right. They just sold their radio station and music publishing company. Also, they expelled a guy who was trying to lead the Do Right BJU movement to protect victims of abuse --like a week before graduation!!! That's right, just enough time so they could get all of his tuition money. Towards the end of my senior year, they would get up in chapel and beg us to get a job after graduation so we could send them 10 bucks a month!! Well, I've got news for them. The first company wouldn't even look at me because I didn't attend a college that was regionally accredited like a real college. Seriously, these negative posts on here -- they are on here to warn other people about not wasting 80 grand a a school that's not regionally accredited. By the way, don't fall for their story about how regional accreditation is right around the corner. And don't fall for the line about how they have Bible College accreditation - it doesn't mean a thing in the real world. Go to Clearwater Christian college, or Maranatha Baptist Bible College or Cedarville University or Liberty University. read more
