I am a parent/chaperone of high school kids. We traveled from SC to NYC in March. The trip was great. However, I want to focus on Bob Benfield, the greatest bus driver and quite possibly human being I have ever met. This man, I believe, works officially for Christian Bus Tours, and I will put this review there as well. Bob puts his entire heart and soul in everything he does. He travels with mints in a basket, cold water and soda, which he wraps in paper towels for cold hands. He brought all the equipment needed to clean the whole bus. He travels with it. He has dad jokes a plenty but also vast knowledge of every place we passed. He drove through a terrifying snowstorm and we barely noticed. He's steady and pleasant no matter what, and this includes some creative city drivers. I was in the front seat and this man would see me take off my sweater and turn the temperature down. His life resumé is amazing and I could have listened to his life for hours. Simply the best person I have met. For Bob Benfield alone I give all his associated employers 5 stars. read more

The tour group announcement came home in May of 2025. My daughter really wanted to attend, which is rare that she gets excited about school trips. I was a few months away from finishing Breast Cancer treatment so I wanted to make this happen for her since the last year of my time was spent in treatment and feeling ill. I knew it would be a tough expense but I wanted to spend valuable time with my daughter after having to undergo treatment and feeling like I couldn't be as present during that time as I normally would be. I logged on to Bob Rogers Travel and entered the group information for East Troy Community School District's Choir group. We had not yet been provided a finalized itinery and in fact, the itinerary changed several times over the next year. I signed us up in good faith and chose to add the travel insurance as traveling with children is always uncertain. Throughout the year I made my payments on time, reviewed itinerary changes each time and my daughter and I were excited for our special trip. After President Trump started the war and TSA agents were replaced by ICE workers, my daughter started becoming very anxious about the trip. She was worried that there was a chance of retailiation to New York City. She was afraid of ICE agents at the airport and was worried about the images of the long lines for lack of TSA and the possibilites of what could happen to New York City while we would be there. She was losing sleep, having anxiety and panic attacks at the thought of it all. Knowing my daughter, I was worried that she would have a panic attack in the airport or while in New York City that could impact the whole group or worse, require a higher level of care while in a city that we don't know. I told my daughter that it was up to her if she wanted to cancel the trip since I bought the travel insurance, I should get a refund. She took some time to think about it and told me that since I will get a refund, she prefers to cancel. I logged on to Bob Rogers Travel and requested to cancel my trip. I was then directed to go to Trip Mate to submit a request for my travel insurance. I didn't realize my insurance was through a third party. But I submitted my proof of cancelation, my documentation for my reasons, explaining that my daughter has anxiety and gets panic attacks, I provided documentation showing the travel warnings, etc. The website stated that it could take up to 25 days for a refund. I didn't worry about that, I felt confidant that I would get a refund and I saved my daughter much undue stress and trauma. Then I got an email stating that I would not be refunded. Unaware to me, there are very few and extreme circumstances when Trip Mate will actually pay a claim. I then messaged Bob Rogers Travel explaining my circumstances as well. Both interactions between Trip Mate and Bob Rogers Travel responses were rude and snarky. On Trip Mate, I filed for an appeal. I explained my situation thoroughly to Bob Rogers Travel again, since they are the one that I paid all of the money to for a trip that we canceled and did not take. I pointed out to Bob Rogers Travel that I feel their practices are predatory as they target tour groups and mostly schools. I as a single mother can not afford to lose out all of these funds for a trip that I did not take and I canceled only due to political agency and systems that are beyond my control. I did not realize the travel insurance was, in my opinion, a scam. I was not able to choose who they pick for travel insurance and I wouldn't have even purchased it had I realized the limited ability to cancel at any time. Reading through the policy is not easy and is very restrictive. I think Bob Rogers Travel knows this, which is why they pick Trip Mate, in order to get away with not giving refunds. Both of these companies are acting together in predatory practices to scam people out of their money. I'm a single mom, recovering Cancer patient with a daughter that was losing sleep and having anxiety attacks. It would have been negligent of me to force her to go on this trip. There is no reason why I shouldn't get a full refund. Not only that, but using an insurance company whose policies are so convoluted and difficult to understand is further upsetting. When purchasing airline tickets or other travel groups, it is clear that you can cancel at any time to get a refund. I wonder how many other single parents or families have been treated like this through these two companies. Not just the lack of refund, which is egregious, but also the rude responses from customer service. I wish I would have researched BOTH companies before signing up. Though I don't know all the logistics on our director's side of things, Bob Rogers has been beyond phenomenal during our trip to New York. Contrary to previous reviews, our trip was an out-of-this-world experience. Our tour guide (Scott D.) was very knowledgeable on the area, was incredibly efficient with giving directions and ensuring our safety and comfort, and was truly passionate about the work he does with BRT! One star is too much for this agency. I actually want to give them 0! We are a group of over 100 students (ages 11-18) and chaperones in Orlando for Festival Disney performances. Disney has been great and I have nothing but good things to say about them. Bob Rogers Travel is the issue. We have had families split up on flights (minors and parents rows away from each other and sitting next to people they don't know), a hotel that was advertised as one just like staying at a Disney Resort (it wasn't even close to Disney value resort quality, I know because I have stayed on my own there several times), a local agent that keeps telling us one thing multiple times and in reality it's something completely different that affects the entire group, and the worst thing is the charter buses they have has us on. We had three buses For our trip. Two were fine, the third had a driver that had no business whatsoever being behind the wheel where so many lives were in his hands. On the night of our arrival he missed the turn for our mediocre hotel. He then backs up and tries to turn left around a median and ends up almost hitting a sign, a couple of trees, and then beaches us tilted on the median itself. Had someone not come out to help him he would have tipped over the bus onto its side. Mind you this bus has minor students on board as well as chaperones and families. I have never been so afraid in my life as I was that night. Everything has been awful that has been associated with the company and it's employees. Working with them on this trip has been a waist of time and money. If you are making a trip happen for your family or large school group, especially to Disney, DO NOT under any circumstances use Bob Rogers Travel agency! Disaster of a company! Wish I had checked reviews before signing my daughter up for the school trip. Lack of communication- only were told a few days before they left what show selections they received and we were informed we got the worst one we had listed and apparently they never received our selections. Never said anything- when asked about it said they sent reminders to complete. Well we had completed so of course didn't complete another as we had done it. Had said only tour director could aid and there were a few tickets available to the preferred show. But as is the par for the course when asked had to wait, and then on the night of the show SHOCKINGLY was not any tickets. The trip they forgot places weren't open on Sunday. Food was different, whole thing was a nightmare. Super disappointed and please look at the reviews and do not let your child go on an overpriced mismanaged and planned school trip. Poor poor communication. When you talk to them, they agree to provide all this information with no follow through. We asked for a breakdown of costs from the big price tag they tossed our way and the gentleman I do believe his name is. David said I'll get it to you. I'll get it to you months later. The whole summer to be exact apparent reaches out and he said oh he forgot and promised to get that information and has never followed up. Over $1,700 for a band trip to Disney is insane. I wish we would have looked at reviews before we started down this pathway. I know our director did not have an opportunity to really shop around for other options. When I did mention this to our travel agent he said well people only post when they have issues... Sir, this is a lot of issues. I understand that they've been around forever. My best friend who is now in her forties, said that she, her high School, used them for a choir trip back in the '90s and communication was s*** back then. She remembers them leaving her stranded. Looks like nothing has changed by the reviews that I'm seeing. Horrible communication. And if you're not going to communicate with me then how can I trust for you to take my student and get them where they need to be. I am aware of all the negative reviews, and I'm here to offer a different perspective. We had difficulty verifying our payment information because we are careful about giving our banking information to anyone. We are both attorneys and we still pay bills by check. No Alexa, and no Siri, either. When I initially reached out I was put in touch with Jenny. I had entered the information incorrectly and the entire process had to be started over. I was past the payment deadline and concerned that my kids wouldn't be counted (for purposes of determining if there are enough to go). Jenny was wonderful to work with. It took an entire month to get our account verified and our payment made. Jenny was helpful and responsive every time I messed up and had to start over. I am a techno-dinosaur but in my defense I was working on my iPhone. Switching to a desktop helped. I cannot talk about the trip yet, but working with Jenny has been a very positive experience. We traveled with a high school group on 2 charter busses, 15 hours one way and 15 hours back. One of the busses (not the one I traveled on) was in good working condition. Unfortunately we were on the oldest bus the company owns. I was a chaperone in the trip, so I did not do the planning part. The itinerary and payment plan worked nicely. Most of the itinerary worked nicely due the trip as well. However, the bus' TV/DVD system did not work correctly, and none of the plug ins for charging devices worked. So, by the time we got to our destination, most of the passengers had dead phones with no way to charge, causing apple pay and other electronic payment issues upon arrival to our destination. Traveling with "bored" teenagers with no way to watch a movie was not pleasant either. Our bus broke down and spent the day being repaired on our final travel day. This hindered travel plans for the day, as we had to make trips, relying on the other bus alone. Our bus just left the repair shop when we were ready to begin our return home. It wasn't ready when we were supposed to leave from our destination, causing an hour and a half delay in our travel. We are traveling from a very hot Florida, and the AC is not working properly. We are supposed to sleep on the bus, and it is very uncomfortable and sticky. read more

Bob Rogers Travel Agency kept exactly $2,781.68 for their so called fees for their services on a Italy trip we were supposed to take through a school trip. I for the life of me can't understand why the school released any money to them this year, as Italy was already shut down. However, shame on Bob Rogers Travel Agency for using any of the money knowing full well that Italy was already shut down with no known time of reopening. What exactly did they use the money for??? Bob Rogers owed us $5528 (part of the deposit) for months. Italy closed down early in the year, and we finally got a check back for $2746.32, which means they kept $2781.68. For the math buffs out there, that is only 49.68% of our money back! They sent an interesting letter with the low refund check of $2746.32. It states that we agree that this matter is confidential, may not be disclosed to others, and we agree not to disparage or speak negatively about Bob Rogers Travel. I am depositing the check, and will say what I want according to my rights and the law. I will be writing reviews and reporting as I see fit. You see, Congress unanimously passed the Consumer Review Fairness Act to protect people's ability to share in any forum their honest opinions about a business' products, services, or conduct. A company can't threaten to sue consumers or penalize them financially for posting negative reviews or complaints. This law in 2016 made that illegal. After waiting over 2 months for refunds on school trip that was cancelled due to the strate wide shut down. Company is now refusing to refund 100% of money paid by parents. stating that since we did not buy the trip insurance. we are not entitled to refunds technically. the problem with that is.... trip insurance provides refunds in the case that the TRAVELLER cancels. us travellers did not cancel. every single venue is closed. Bob Rogers is not CAPABLE of providing us the service that we paid for. they then went on to say that they need to keep that money for compensation to their employees for the man hours spent making the arrangements. Complaints have been filed with the State of Ohio Attorney General by multiple parents, and multiple attorneys have been contacted in regards to a class action lawsuit against the company. School districts beware, this company is a bunch of thieves! The hotels that were involved in the Disney trip for our school have told multiple parents that all groups and individuals that booked with them during the COVID-19 crisis that had to cancel were refunded. So that's a lie. When confronted about it the representative got mean and nasty and said they didn't have to prove what was refunded and what wasn't to us. Stay away from this company and do not conduct business with them. Unfortunately we were trapped into using them via a school trip that was cancelled by the travel agency during the pandemic. The company proceeded to keep large percentages of their client's money under the guise of having made payments to vendors that were non-refundable, but they would not provide any accounting of this information when pressed. They have also kept all of the money committed towards the other trip for my daughter who has not yet graduated stating that they will be applying this money towards providing the trip at a future date. They have effectively worked their way into giving themselves an interest free loan of a major portion of the money that was originally designated for a trip that they have not been able to provide over the course of two years. read more

Our HS band used BRT for their Disney trip in April. I waited to write this review as I was way too angry and emotional to write it sooner. I was a chaperone on this trip and it was horrible. The only good was that our kids were amazing! At Magic Kingdom they marched and did a phenomenal job and they handled all the let down of BRT with grace and understanding. Our two leaders for this trip were Bob & Carol, let me just say she isn't a kid person and her experience is severely lacking. Our first day we traveled over 19-20 hrs to get to the Rainforest cafe, and no fault of our own, but we were late by over an hr and half for breakfast due to accidents on the hwy. They contemplated having 30 kids at a time to go eat the buffet that was paid for by our group. We had over 250 kids. Breakfast was supposed to be provided and because we were late due to back ups, our leaders gave us this option or go to the park hungry. We chose to go to the parks hungry since it would have taken almost 4 hours to feed our kids at 30 at a time. We weren't given an extra meal ticket or anything to help our kids out, there was no back up plan whatsoever...just send these kids who just spent over 19 hrs on a bus into Universal hungry. Our Cardinal bus broke down, we had to rearrange our stuff to get our kids to their scheduled time at Disney. Fine. They took the bus and according to them no codes came up so it was "fine". In route, our bus drivers got lost to Animal Kingdom and our kids waiting at the hotel for their ride had to wait over 2 hours to finally make it to Animal Kingdom. We had a chaperone and a couple kids get turned around on their way back to the bus at magic kingdom. the trax took them through the resorts due to going to just the parking lot got shut down, followed the crowds (herded more likely) and ended up in the main parking not bus parking and was late to the meet after the parks. They were scolded by Carol about this, which these students had a chaperone with them. She crossed the line. Completely! At the BRT meeting prior to going, they talked all about all we will get to do...including Disney Springs and shopping! Carol said the night before going to Planet Hollywood and the springs that there will be no shopping as she has "experience" that trying to round up the kids for their 2 designated times was too difficult. So, absolutely not. These kids waited to shop for this exact reason! We had to sit on the side of the buildings waiting for our first group to finish eating. There were plenty of shops right near Planet Hollywood our kids could have done a little while waiting. But experienced Carol said No. They were given $5 off coupons to shop at Planet hollywood. She yelled at the kids that did get in the shop and said "there is no shopping". Absolutely Ludicrous! Planet Hollywood's food that was a limited menu Was Terrible as well. Not worth whatever our group paid for and some of our kids became sick from the burgers. Carol snapped at our head chaperone claiming there were kids left there and she had to go round up our kids since we couldn't seem to do it. We were the last ones out of Planet Hollywood and she didn't have any kids with her when we saw her return. Oh and let me get back to Bus 3...that was "fixed"...the kids that ate first and was heading back to the hotels while we finally sat down, BROKE DOWN on the hwy with our kids!!! Cardinal bus line is the company they used. I wouldn't recommend them either as apparently they don't keep their buses well maintained. Nor do their drivers know what could be wrong as the head director asked OUR bus driver why it was beeping "all of sudden" and they had to pull over and shut the bus down in 80 degrees to let the engine cool off and all the driver could say was that there was enough coolant in it and it should be fine??!!! What??? It started beeping again down the street from our school...at that point, it was all we could do was pray it made it! Just stay away from this company. There needs to be contingency plans for missed appointments for food for kids. There needs to be contingency plans for broken buses. And there needs to be travel guides that actually has experience with kids and patience with them. Most had never been to disney and it's a super big place....things happen and a travel guide never has the authority to discipline kids that are not theirs. Our middle school used this program to organize a school trip for our band program to Chicago. They took care of all the details. The electronic payment set up with monthly payments was slick and our trip was awesome. Our tour guide Joel was phenomenal. The one disappointing thing was that most of the meals were pretty heavy - breakfast at the hotel never included fruit and most of the dinners were pizza type meals that felt very heavy. The kids were asking for healthy food after the second day. Please ensure travels are able to get fruit with breakfast as a standard option. Not everyone wants heavy eggs/hash browns, etc. thank you!!! read more

First let me say that we have used this company several times going to Orlando, Florida. Really don't like to mention people name directly but this tour coordinator that we had this time Monique Kubica. She was the worst coordinator that I have ever had in my 23 years of touring. She had more excuses/ lies for her mistakes. Monique communication skills definitely needs work. Like the Marines first to go and last to know. That is actually how this trip was with over 50 high school kids going to Universal Studios for their first time. I believe she needs to find another profession. I would not recommend her nor would I ever do another trip with her again. All in all we have used this company before and never had any issues before. When I commented on this, and after I filed complaints with the AG, they called me. If you have purchased Cancel For Any Reason Insurance (CFAR) then you will need to contact Travel Insured directly to start the claim at 1-800-243-3174 hit option #3. 2. Travel Insured will reach out to Bob Rogers Travel directly for details regarding the cost of the trip, please do not email the claim form to us. 3. If you are not sure if you purchased the CFAR insurance or purchased a different insurance plan, then you will need to contact Travel Insured at 1-800-243-3174 option #6. We are a separate entity from Travel Insured and we do not have access to your insurance information. 4. If you did not purchase CFAR insurance, we are working in good faith with your vendors to see what is possible. All of our vendors (including hotel, motor coach, meals, attractions, etc.) have been paid in full for your trip. Today I learned that 80 school districts have canceled their trips with Bob Rogers. I will NOT accept your explanation for not providing refunds, and I will do everything in my power to make sure refunds are given and that no other school district bookwith Bob Rogers Travel in the future. As a retired superintendent, I will make all superintendents in northern IL aware of this situation. In addition, I have contacted many lawmakers, including the Governor's office. I have also contacted all Chicagoland news media outlets. This will NOT go unchallenged. My kids saved over $3,000 for this trip, and you are NOT going to steal their money. This company took over $1300 EACH from hundreds of Palatine High School students for a trip to New Orleans for Spring Break 2020. The trip was cancelled due to Coronavirus concerns, which is understandable. However, the company is not refunding any of the money to the students because they "have already paid their vendors in full". The vendors were paid in full. Bob Rogers was paid in full. The students and parents of PHS are just out of luck. I hope PHS finds a more reputable company to work with for future student tours. If your school is planning a trip like this, remember this name: Bob Rogers Travel If that's who your school has chosen, you had better take a pass on that trip. Like others have stated, Bob Rogers Travel collected $1,200.00 from students at Plainfield Central HS for a spring break trip that was cancelled. Bob Rogers Travel has stated that it is working with its vendors to secure whatever refunds it can. Once that process has been completed then refunds will be issued. The other day BRT sent out an email saying the process has been completed and students will receive ~80% refund. So BRT is planning to keep 20% of the student's money in order to fund its own business operations. If BRT was unable to secure refunds from its vendors that is an issue between BRT and its vendors. We have already started a dispute with our credit card vendor to secure a 100% refund. Our credit card vendor informed us the process will be completed by June 4th. At that time if our vendor was unable to secure our refund from BRT then we are planning to file suit in small claims court. I suggest others who are in the same situation do the same. BRT is a corporation which means if they are sued it will have to hire a corporate lawyer to represent BRT in court. If everyone who has been short changed by BRT does the same it may convince them to do the right thing and issue 100% refunds. read more

Company has horrible ethics. Our underprivileged inner city schools trip to NYC was cancelled due to covid. Bob Rogers first would not refund our money for 4 months. We finally got a refund but Bob Rogers kept a approx 30% service fee and refused to itemize or even reval where the 30% went to cover. We also received the same check in the pictures with threats to not speak bad about Bob Ross travel and that this was a settlement. It's pathetic they would keep funds from theses underprivileged kids. I also see via public records that they Bob Rogers recieved a massive government forgivable Covid loan at the same time they were keeping our money. read more

Still no refund or any confirmation of how much. It sounds like the hotel and all of our stops in our itinerary have refunded purchases. I'm not sure how you would prepay the restaurants. The bus drivers didn't drive anywhere no fuel was used. Sales commissions to your sales person. I've been in sales. My commissions were not paid until delivery of goods sold. I'm not sure how you people are paid but the way I look at it no goods have been delivered. With a 2 Trillion dollar bailout of companies I'm sure your hand will be out and $$$ headed your way. I on the other hand am in the odd spot of middle class that makes enough probably not to get a dime. I'm out for me as a chaperone and my son that's about $2000 our people say we should get half back. If a full refund is not in our future. As a student on one of these trips I may not know the logistics of the trip but what I do know if my and many of my fellow classmates experiences. This previous year as a school we went on a 6 day trip to Orlando and it was some of the worst planning I have ever witnessed. The trip started ut great, we left on Saturday in the early afternoon and all was well, an uncomfortable night but what night isn't on a cramped bus with other teenagers. Where it got bad was the following morning. We started by being awoken at 3 am, and 6 am, which is obviously terrible coming from a teenager, but little did we know there was worse to come. Many of us thought we were going to go to a hotel, maybe gather our things and get cleaned up since we just drove 20+ hours on a bus. No. We immediately were thrown into the park after no sleep, no clean up and barley any food. We were given a $30 food gift acrd for an entire DAY of meals. If you've ever been to any Disney park you know that's nothing. Especially for lunch and dinner. So we had to pay out of our own pocket to eat food that was supposed to be "provided". Then after being thrown into the parks we stayed until 8pm. So from 7-8pm we were in the park which was fine but of course because of the lack of sleep no one had fun. Then after our late night out in which we didn't get to the hotel until 9pm. Of course with many kids sharing a room showers took at least an hour maybe two so no one really got to bed until 10 or 11. Then we were forced awake at 5:45 to actually have time to get ready before having to be down for breakfast at 6 and leave at 7. This continued for the next 5 days, somehow getting worse. The next day at magic kingdom we got there at opening and stayed far past closing. We were expected to leave at 9pm we didn't get around to that until 11, finally getting back to the hotel at 12, on top of showering and getting to sleep some of us didn't get to sleep until 1 or even 2am only to wake up again at 5/6am. Every day was miserable. This continued until the following day at universal where we actually left the parks at a decent time (7pm) and were back by 8 which was amazing, pretty much all of us took those extra hours and were catching up on much needed sleep. Then again at Hollywood Studios the terror continued until finally the final day arrived, another day at universal in which as usual we woke up early, and stayed late except this time we went straight onto the bus. After spending the day in the scorching Florida summer sun we were marched onto the bus to sit in our sweat and stink for the next 20 hours. Truly the worst planned trip of my life and I will never be attending a trip hosted by this company again. No one was able to have any fun because we were moping around with extreme nausea and tiredness from the very little sleep we got. read more

My daughter and her classmates are supposed to be in Orlando this week. When American Airlines canceled a flight, Bob Rogers had no plan to get the kids re-routed. The teacher spent two days of her time in an effort to find a different way to make the trip happen. Isn't that the responsibility of the travel company? School trip was booked through this company and was cancelled due to Covid 19. While Bob Rogers did provide a 74% refund, we were still out over $1000 that we were not refunded. Bob Rogers stated that they could not disclose what vendors did not provide a refund so I'm not even sure what I paid $1000+ for. I really hope our school district rethinks who they book trips with in the future because it is very unethical to make money off people during a pandemic. People are losing their incomes. read more

All of the negative reviews of this company are Unfortunately true. They are keeping at least 70 to 90% of the money these kids raised for their trips. They don't understand that these kids, some of them, have worked really hard to raise the money through fundraising efforts and backbreaking work. I am very proud of my child for raising the money solely and now, to not be able to receive the full amount to at least enjoy it on some online purchases or bills that have piled up because of no work. The only reason I agreed to use the travel agency was because the school was enforcing it on their trip. ABSOLUTELY NO company should be allowed to keep full refunds during a crisis!! This is a complete shame and their response time/responses just blow you off, they have been addressing the negative comments to their business far more quickly than addressing the actual refunds and amount of refunds to people. I was told they couldn't find me or my child in their system but that I would still receive something in another 6-8 weeks after "processing". I truly hope no one else has to go through this and that no other educational office uses this company as they will let these students down. read more

I suggest people who are being scammed by them to file a BBB complaint and dispute the charges. I hope they go out of business. They're disgusting to do this at this time. When I signed my daughter up for a spring break trip with Bob Rogers, I had the option to purchase trip insurance. I chose NOT to do this because I couldn't think of a reason why she wouldn't go on the trip. Along came the pandemic and the trip was canceled. Because I did not purchase trip insurance, I did not have high expectations for a refund. Bob Rogers Travel has secured a refund of over 80% which is more than fair. They incurred costs to plan the trip and some vendors did not refund them 100% so I would not expect a complete refund. Lesson learned: always buy trip insurance. read more
