Honestly, I've had bad experiences with other orthopedic surgeons. Dr Yin was patient and more knowledgeable than my other doctors. I felt like he was honest and tried his best. The staff were all very nice as well. Overall this was the better experience. I am just hoping I can figure out what's wrong with my knee in the long run. I hope they can gather more information and images to help better diagnose the knee. I am waiting for 2nd opinion mri and see how it goes. Dr. Bob Yin is my Mom's Orthopedic surgeon for a left hip replacement. From our 1st visit, initial consult 2/2021, Dr. Yin was very patient and listened to my Mom's fears and concerns. He explained every detail as well as dispelled mysteries. My Mom was very comfortable communicating with him because he also spoke Mandarin. It has been a year since her surgery (5/2021) and she just had her 1 year follow up - clean, well-healed new hip. During the course leading up to the surgery, post surgery, his office team used multiple ways to check in on my Mom's pain and healing progress. Emails to the office were always promptly answered. Dr. Bob Yin is a phenomenal doctor that I'd highly recommend to anyone facing an important decision where an orthopedic surgical procedure may be necessary. I was cautious about surgery but had been mis-diagnosed at a local urgent care and referred to Dr. Yin as someone that was essentially a miracle worker that could be trusted to do premium work. Dr. Yin did a thorough examination, had X Rays, MRI, etc and conducted a comprehensive analysis and showed me prior to surgery with detailed but understandable language for a patient. He tried to take an alternative path to surgery which I appreciated it. This demonstrated professional restraint and a desire to resolve my ankle issue in the least intrusive fashion. He has a professional, calm but confident approach to his work. I asked him a few candid questions and he responded with candor but also came across as if he was fully vested in the best recovery for me. He treated me like he was my personal physician and I was his only patient. He took meticulous notes in every meeting but also has a good interpersonal skills approach to his patients. Ultimately, my issue required surgery. The surgery went smooth, and I work in the health care industry in HR, and several colleagues that are in the medical field commented that it looked like phenomenal work. About a month later after the surgery, I am feeling much better and my follow up visits with Dr. Yin inspire confidence that I'll make a full recovery. Without sounding melodramatic, I would also characterize Dr. Yin as the "Tom Brady" of surgeons. Put aside his training at MIT and Columbia Medical school. I'm not a Patriots fan but Tom Brady makes the Patriots successful irrespective of the talent on the team. I believe the same rings true for Dr. Yin and that medical practice. My chosen metaphor is unfortunately used because some of the administrative and nursing staff do not project the same high level standards as Dr. Yin. I've had appointment issues, being spoken to in a condescending manner and other issues with the staff. I had hip surgery with Dr. Yin in 2021. I was saying I was still in pain and his comment was to send me to pain management and told me I needed to loose weight and recommend a weight loss clinic. He had made comments about my weight during the entire treatment including saying the issue with my shoulder (12 years ago and done in Texas was due to my weight although at that time I was 130 pounds). I decided to seek a second opinion and thank goodness I did. The new doctor found that my labrum had retorn after Dr. Yins surgery. Dr. Yin didn't take the time to learn why I was still hurting. After the second surgery with the new doctor having to redo everything Dr yin did, I am on the road to recovery finally. He is one of the best orthopedic surgeon's in Orange County and I would say all the nation. He recently operated on my wife's right shoulder and did extensive repair to the rotator cuff region. I am happy to say it is going very well after about a month post op. He also is going to do both my damaged shoulders coming up soon. For now he has given me several corticosteroid shots that really help me get through my lingering pain as I wait for my upcoming surgical repair. We are very pleased with Dr. Yin. Dr Yin is an awesome Dr. In May of 2018, Dr Yin performed successful Tommy John surgery on my 17 year old son. My son is a pitcher on the Yorba Linda High School Varsity baseball team. During the whole process from diagnosis to post surgery, Dr. Yin was a consummate professional. I had my first appointment with Dr. Yin about 8 months ago Jan 2020, and he confirmed that I had a HAGL tear. He was actually my second opinion doctor and I didn't want to have surgery if I didn't have to. During my appointment, Dr. Yin took a look at my MRI and confirmed my tear, but mentioned that most tears of my kind could heal on its own. Well, after talking about how long I have had this injury, going on 6 weeks, my limited ROM, and how 8 sessions of physical therapy did not seem to help at all, he quickly scheduled me for surgery. Dr. Yin, rearranged his schedule to fit me in and within 3 weeks I had my surgery to repair the tear. As I didn't really know how I tore it, Dr. Yin took the time to explain the likely way it had torn. (I play beach volleyball, so when I feel with my arm extended that's more than likely when it tore and overtime just got worse.) During the pre-op, Dr. Yin told me exactly what was going to be done, as it was going to be done arthroscopically. However, due to the location of the tear, he did warn me that if he couldn't fix it that way, he would have to open me up. The day of the surgery was super easy! Check-in went in the back, and all the nurses made me feel comfortable. I've had finger surgery as well, so I wasn't too nervous, but anytime going under anesthesia it's always a little concerning. But then the anesthesiologist came back and explained what she was going to do, and then Dr. Yin came back and just went over the process. Woke up, no issues, and he was able to fix the pair all arthroscopically. A week later had my follow up and had my sutures taken out and began physical therapy. During my follow up appointments Dr. Yin was very thorough in helping make sure I was on the right track of getting back to full ROM and would work with me if I needed more time off from work. Fast forward 6 months, I'm officially released and my shoulder is feeling good. A little tightness here and there to be expected since I haven't really used my full ROM if nearly 9 months. Horrible staff. Provide no help and Dr. yin is too busy. No reminder calls for appts and overall just not very friendly. Dr. Yin is fairly nice but his staff just needs to get better training. Got an MRI and was diagnosed with a torn labrum. Made an appt for a cortisone shot that I could not make. I had to call them to see when my spot was and I was told next avail appt was a month after. The problem was I could not really get effective therapy without the shot due to the inflammation. So anyways ended up finding a new doctor as this team really could care less. read more

Dr. Yin repaired my fractured clavicle after a mountain bike accident. His staff was great and made scheduling easy and worked to get me in as quick as possible after the injury. It's just nice to feel like someone is doing their best to fix you when you are in the aftermath of a traumatic accident. I would give Dr. Yin a high rating for personality and being nice to his patients, however, my story follows: When I first saw Dr. Yin, he immediately let me know that he is a surgeon and does not do cortisone shots. The x-rays showed that I had bone on bone, so he recommended knee replacement on both knees. On May 28, 2020, he replaced my left knee. I had a very painful, long recovery. At my six month appointment, he showed me the new x-ray that showed he had not measured correctly and had put in a larger knee than my original. I have to give him credit for being honest about it. I believe the larger knee is why I had such a difficult recovery, and will probably never feel normal. Anyway, I will not be having the second knee done by Dr. Yin and probably not by anyone. Sorry, Dr. Yin, but I had to let people know that doctors do make mistakes, and I am the recipient of one of yours. read more

To be quite frank, I'm extremely disappointed. I drove over a half hour to Dr. Yin's office because of all the good reviews I've read. To my surprise, I wasn't even greeted. I was immediately welcomed with the harsh attitude from "Cece" who seemed extremely upset that I did not bring a CD with my MRI results "as she specifically told me" over the phone. Without hesitation, she stated that the Dr. would not see me and that I needed to go back and get the CD. As I stood in awe of her bad attitude, a second, and kinder lady, at the front desk ignored her rant and headed to the back office to ask "what the Dr. wanted to do". She came back and said, "it's ok, you can be seen, just bring the CD later". As "Cece" proceeded to give me a dirty look, I sat and filled out the paperwork. I go in and the tech who took my vitals was also cold as ice. Not a "Hello" not even sign of a welcoming smile. As I sit there waiting for the Dr. I'm beginning to ask myself why is everyone there so "pissed off. Finally, I meet Dr. Yin, the only reason I ended up at this place in the first place! Well, at least he was very nice and professional. He gave me a referral to get additional exams and suggested the place next door but he also said I could go anywhere else. Well, as I'm leaving the office, of course, I don't even get a good bye from the staff. It's ok, I thought. Unfortunately, a few minutes later, I had to call Dr. Yin's office to see if they could transfer my referral to a different imaging center and, of course, to my luck, I get "Cece" who answers the phone and promptly tells me, in a scolding tone of voice, that I don't need a referral, that I can take the "piece of paper" I was handed and go anywhere I want. But " that i needed to make sure not to forget to get a CD of my results" because "You guys" "always forget to follow introductions and just show up without a CD". Really!?!?!? By now, I've had enough of this "girl". I gave her a piece of my mind and when asked to speak to her supervisor she put me on a quiet hold which seemed to last an eternity, but of course I called again. The supervisor seemed initially uninterested in what I had to say, which was even more shocking to me. I explained to her what happened and that I was disappointed in knowing that I would have to come back into their office, from so far, only to see this particular Dr. But it if wasn't for that, I would never recommend anyone to this place. She did finally apologize for Cece's behavior, as she should! That employee is an embarrassment to Dr. Yin's practice. I would not want anyone like her working for me or representing my name. I know there are many other good doctors, and if this is the type of treatment that I will receive as a client in his office, then I might have to look for the services of a place where I will be treated with dignity, respect and courtesy. read more

I've asked to speak with you at a minimum of 3 of these calls. I've left messages with your team for you at several of these. In fact, I've stated that you were supposed to give me a call back after having received my paperwork. According to my previous physician, the paperwork was sent over to your office twice in the last several months. Furthermore, you thinking this is all about a $104.11 charge that may or may not go to collections is beyond me. All I wanted from you was a plan. Something that would potentially set me off in the right direction. The fact that you felt it was necessary to point this out shows that you obviously don't know what this situation is all about. And yes, you did call. Finally. After all of these months of apparently not being given your messages. There's nothing to discuss. Finally, the only reason I listed August is because the insurance company stated that your office charged them in August of 2015. I'll follow up with them regarding this. Someone in your office dropped the ball. My last contact was with Ciclali on 12/23 when I sent her the paperwork she asked for (Request for Medical Records). She followed up with me a day later saying that it was sent in and she was just waiting on paperwork. It's now February and I haven't heard back from you office. The review stands. read more

I have never written a yelp review, but Dr. Yin was so great to work with I felt compelled. My hip was in such bad shape I was home bound, and literally trapped on my second story. I could not walk without excruciating pain, could not lay in my bed, had to sleep sitting in a chair for multiple months. I had 3 Dr. opinions they all recommended a full hip replacement. I have additional complications being a large man, with type II diabetes. Dr. Yin, explained the procedure and the extra steps he would take due to my other factors. I'm told this normally takes about 2 hours, in my case it took about 4 hours. Dr. Yin personally took extra time with the procedure and the closing. He spoke with my wife and friend who were waiting for the surgery to finish. I ended with a 14 inch incision, yet today you can barely tell! Here is the truly great news, immediately after surgery the excruciating pain was gone. Dr. Yin's bedside manner and communication with the patient is excellent. His after care instructions were clear. All of our follow ups have been great, even during COVID. I could not recommend him any higher for orthopedic surgery. I went in for a torn medial meniscus, right knee, that had been plaguing me for the past year. Once I found Dr. Yin, I set the appointment for an interview. His staff was courteous, professional, friendly, yet straight to business. After the initial interview, MRI done, etc, I was set for arthroscopic surgery the very next week! Now that's what I call service! Try THAT with Obama Care! I went in for surgery yesterday, and the surgery center is right next to his office. The hospital was well staffed, very clean, and the rooms were very nice. They appeared well cared for and decorated nicely. From start to finish, the procedure went off without a hitch. I woke up in recovery, and my knee felt amazingly well. There was no swelling, no pain, and I was immediately able to stand and walk around without any assistance (once the anesthesia wore off). I am in my first day post op, and I have not touched the crutches I borrowed from a friend, nor have I had to take any of the pain medications prescribed. I just walked a half mile to meet some friends, walked back home, and no pain or discomfort whatsoever! Thank you Dr. Yin, and staff, for taking such good care of me and making this complicated knee surgery appear easier and less painful than getting a tooth drilled! Simply the Best! I had my first appointment with Dr. Yin in June 2019 with a follow up hamstring surgery in July of the same year. My hamstring was almost ruptured so it was pretty painful. the procedure, recovery, and PT went so well I was able to run a half marathon in December of that same year. I am writing the review a little late, but I had a follow up appointment just recently and felt compelled to finally write a review. I have to say that everything from start to finish with the procedure went with out incident. I would trust Dr. Yin with any hip/knee/shoulder injury. He tells you not necessarily what you want to hear, but what you need to hear. I don't know if I would have recovered as quickly as I did without Dr. Yin, he's an amazing Dr. and Surgeon. His staff gets 5 stars as well, they are always helpful on the phone and made the whole process from start to finish that much better. I fell on a cracked sidewalk. My knee hurt for 2 day but then pain subsided. After a week I could see than my knee was swollen and bruised. On the 9th post fall day, I went to St Jude clinic in YL Med Center (Rose Dr), had xrays then saw Stacy Summa the orthopedic PA on duty. In 5 minutes time she told me my knee cap was cracked in half and that I would need surgery ASAP and to see the surgery scheduler to make an appt for surgery to happen in exactly one week. She said if it were her, she'd definitely have the surgery. I asked if possible to speak with the surgeon. SHe said he was on vacation and wouldn't return until the next week. She gave me a fabric/velcro brace to wear until surgery. (BTW, that velco brace did not stay on for even 5 mins at a time.) The following Monday, I called to make an appt to talk to the surgeon. They squeezed me in. Dr Bob Yin had the most congenial personality I've ever come across. He was so likable and somewhat humorous but in a conservative way. He examined me and said "Surgery will not be necessary. You didn't break the muscle that connects in front so I think my keeping leg immobile in brace you'll heal." What? Stacy Summa PA was wrong? How dare she insists that surgery is necessary when the real surgeon told me otherwise. His manner is kind and he is very very very knowledgeable. He showed me pictures, explained the xrays, tole me recovery time and most importantly he showed me how to use that top of thigh to ankle brace. In fact, he even suggested that the salesman who provides the clinic the brace make a visit to my home at no charge. I looked forward to all 6 follow-up appts. I recovered in 8 weeks just like Dr Yin had said. Dr Yin is one heck of a wonderful doctor and I recommend him highly. read more

I tore my medial meniscus. I went to Dr. Bob, He is truly amazing. He performed the surgery and I was able to walk out of the hospital without crutches. I was on ice packs for about two weeks I did not need any major medications other than Motrin. I rarely write reviews on Yelp, but I would give as many stars as I can to Dr. Yin! Dr. Yin is the best doctor we've ever met! My husband had a bike accident fall and fracture clavicle. We have HMO insurance but we don't want to wait for too long to get approval so we went cash patient with Dr. Yin. He is upfront, knowledgeable and experienced. He pointed out my husband needs to get done a surgery as soon as possible. However, our HMO plan will not cover in his clinic. Dr. Yin was very patient, he referred us a few good doctors that accept HMO plan and also asked his assistant to explain how we can choose the medical group if we want to have him as our surgeon. We felt comfortable talking with him and his stuff. After a day, he called us personally and asked if we will have surgery with him. We told him we wouldn't able to change our medical group in a short time. He asked which doctor we will go with and we told him the name of the doctor. He told us be confident with this doctor and also we can share his opinions with the other doctor. Even we don't get treatment from Dr. Yin, My husband and I are already very impressed Dr. Yin's professional. He performed 2 surgeries on my son knee and shoulder his knee surgery had ACL reconstruction done along with meniscus and torn cartilage repair. He also cared for complex wrist fracture for my other son. He is one of the most caring Doctors I have ever met. I found Dr. Yin after giving up on the orthopedist Placentia-Linda ER recommended after an accident 5 months ago. Best decision I ever made. The previous ortho spent only a few minutes with me at each visit and had me on the path to tendon surgery. I was in constant pain for 4 months and struggling with lack of sleep. My first visit with Dr. Yin lasted nearly an hour. He listened closely to me, explained things clearly and checked for understanding. Two days after I began treatment with him, I felt like a fog lifted and the pain was gone within a few more days. I'm still working through mobility issues but I feel like I have my life back. I was impressed with my first visit to Dr. Yin. The office staff was friendly, I had no trouble getting an appt. and I got in to see him shortly after I got there. I had been having occasional pain in my right shoulder which got much worse over a year ago. It has been very important for me to preserve the right shoulder because I basically have no rotator cuff in my left shoulder so have very limited motion. The ex ray on 3/3/21 indicated mild osteoarthritis and it showed the shoulder resting down in the socket completely. He ordered an MRI to rule out a tear and said he would call me with the results. He did not, so I called and reminded the office staff. He subsequently called and said the good news was there was NO TEAR. I asked if PT might help and he said he would be glad to write up an order. After 6 week of PT my therapist couldn't understand the lack of progress and wondered if I had a copy of the MRI report. I secured one from the lab. In bold letters it said I had a mild to moderate partial tear! He either never really looked at the report or just lied. My therapist has now changed some of the PT, but my insurance coverage is almost gone. I will not be seeing Dr. Yin again! read more

I had complete Knee replacement on Oct 10, 2018 and after 13 weeks I am walking pain free with no sign of a scar on my knee and no restrictions. I would rate him 10 stars if I could. I am rating him on his skills as a surgeon not his persona ! After the surgery, it was MY responsibility to follow the exercises outlined in the recovery outline I received from the physical therapist that gave such good results. read more

Dr Yin is one of the best doctors I have had. He is very engaging. Informative, willing to explain and really wants the best for you.
