I am very pleased with the care I received from Dr. Vyas. As a professional caregiver for elderly patients, I visit a wide variety of medical offices with my clients, which gives me a unique, bird's-eye view of how different practices operate. After seeing how wonderfully Dr. Vyas treated one of my clients, he was my absolute first choice when I recently broke my own foot. The entire process was smooth, and his medical care and advice was excellent. Had a 10am appointment for an allergy panel. Got there 10 minutes early and waited 10 minutes for someone to appear at the front desk. They gave me the wrong address when I scheduled the appointment so I had to drive 20 minutes to Dr. Dyas' other location. Disorganized. read more

After seeing Dr. Shail Vyas for a progress evaluation, it was the final straw. During this evaluation, not once did he examine the injured muscle, nor tested it out with exercises. He didn't even look at it. Mind you I have waited for almost 2 hours from the appointment time to see him. The 10 minutes that he was in there,it was all about the various injections I can purchase. The injections were discussed during my first, second and third appointments. The office staff already gave me a price list. I did get an injection on my second appointment and my third appointment which I had to pay out-of-pocket. He will not do a cortisone shot unless one does it with one of his injection add-ons which insurance will not cover. He tries to convince the patient one needs these injections to buy yourself time because one needs surgery in the future. When he was very disrespectful towards physical therapy, I realized I am seeing the wrong orthopedic doctor. Because of that visit , I got a second , third and fourth opinion from two orthopedic specialists and his PA with a different dr's office and continued physical therapy. I need surgery and my condition is too far along for PRP, gel injections and stem cells to work. I am saving myself time , money and most of all -my health and body by going to doctors who will properly exam and give the best care for one's specific medical needs. read more

Avoid this center at all costs. Do yourself a favor and find a different medical center/orthopedic team. First - they DO NOT HONOR APPOINTMENTS. After waiting nearly 1.5hrs I checked with front desk and was told another 30-45min. When I got upset they told me they dont go off your appt time but off the sign in sheet so basically its first come first serve - Why did I need to make an appointment, wait three weeks to come in, and take time off work?! The front desk staff is so rude. Didnt even look up from her computer to greet patients. One word answers to questions. Super condescending to clients. Lastly - this office is marked as a sports medicine specialist. Which maybe is true. However there were about 11 people in waiting room and all were 65-70+ years old - didnt look like they actually specialize in treating athletes at all. In reading the other reviews here it seems like a common theme and that the doctor isnt any better. Such a waste of time. read more

I have Never written a Yelp review, let alone a review of any medical group, but after a year of dealing with the Orange Orthopedic Medical Group I have to say that the high level of INCOMPETENCE on the end of the administrative office is unprecedented. I have NEVER experienced the lack of communication regarding medical certifications for a leave of absence to take care of my husband, and yes, I am the sole caretaker. My husband is an athlete who has had very serious health issues, and unfortunately needed two knee replacements in the middle of brain cancer treatments. The admin office failed to process my family leaves, they lost my paperwork twice, then filled it out incorrectly, so that I was removed from my work schedule for three weeks longer than was needed. Since I was the only one working it cost me a month of pay that I could not recover, and yes, I did specify that I needed 2-3 weeks off ,not six weeks. The delay in the time the paperwork was processed, was too late to do anything to restore my work schedule. Multiple calls to the person in charge of the family leaves resulted in more confusion on her part. She simply did not understand the paperwork and failed to process it properly. For my husband's second knee replacement, and yes both knee replacements were necessary as it was needed before he was diagnosed with brain cancer, the same person who did my first family leave, received my paperwork from the physicians PA, who personally walked it over to her and told her what the paperwork was for and when it was needed. It happened on a Friday afternoon. The same woman who does the family leave paperwork took the paperwork from the physicians assistant, set it on a stack of paperwork and without telling anyone went on vacation for a week I do not deny anyone there right to vacation but family leave paperwork is time sensitive and she should have at least said that she would be out of the office for a week, and more importantly, she should have had someone filling in for her because of the nature of the paperwork that is time sensitive, and when it needs to be processed. However, she did not do any of that. Instead, I ended up calling the office manager who had to process the paperwork herself, and did not know how to do it, and had to find someone else that was on vacation to help her process it. Needless to say, a s---show. The latest incident was I canceled an appointment with them for my own knee issue. Apparently, the appointment was not canceled by the person on the other end of the line. I have received multiple text messages that I missed my appointment and I need to call to reschedule. This happened over the weekend, but of course no one is there to reschedule my appointment yet. I keep getting text messages to reschedule immediately.. This review is too long. I will simply say that I do not trust them with my medical records, x-rays, personal information, or necessary paperwork that that the state of California and my employer require, and anything that pertains to medical treatment for any type of an orthopedic condition. They clearly are not paying their people enough to stay on top of necessary medical leaves/ forms to substantiate a leave that an employer requires, as per California state law. Their failure to provide the necessary information , in a timely manner , for caregivers, has cost me a lot of money and unnecessary time lost at work. There are many orthopedic groups in almost every county, city, and medical group, in California. You have many choices. The surgeon can be the best around, but if the office staff doesn't do their job, than it weakens the ability of the surgeon. How are you to trust that the X-ray, MRI, ETC IS YOURS? How do you know if your medical information wasn't mixed up with someone else's? How do you know if the doctor is looking at the right set of images? It goes on and on...as they say, buyer BEWARE. read more

Well, I've been seeing Dr. Vyas since 2019 and I must say how grateful I am for the entire office. Well organized, efficient and friendly. Dr. Vyas injects jell into my knee I broke in 2019 and I'm literally scared to death of needles. To be completely honest, I barely feel the procedure! Three shots spread a week apart and then nothing for 6 months. If you have any doubt that the jell helps or you're skeptical it doesn't feel painful, put your fears aside and go see Dr. Vyas. read more

The office staff lack professional decorum and behave like students in an occupational classroom at a continuation high school. The doctor seemed to be pushing Platelet-Rich Plasma injections as a side hustle despite the controversial reviews and despite the mixed scientific data on its effectiveness. In terms of professionalism and care, switching to another doctors office felt like parking a Hyundai and climbing into a Mercedes-Benz, no offense to Hyundai, because unlike this office, the car is fairly reliable, the gauges will communicate with you, and it will get the job done. No communication from the office. No follow up from the doctor. Left in pain for months waiting. Then I sought a second opinion from a reputable clinic and by contrast the experience from start to finish was comprehensive and extremely thorough. I was a new patient here and I will not return. They have 0 concern for patients time. I made a 10:15 appointment and was told to arrive early to do paper work which is normal. However I arrived at 9:57 and signed in and didn't get the new patient forms till about 10:40. 25 minutes past my appointment time. And didn't get seen my any doctor till 11:20. Dr. Shail is an Excellent Doctor. I would honestly not be walking today if it wasn't for him and the miracle shots that have been administered to me. I had gone to 3 doctors and 7 ER doctors and none of them could tell me what was wrong. I was referred to Dr. Shail by my medical physician. Dr Shail discovered a tumor found in my leg bone (now it's shrinking and almost non-existent) but I am no longer limping or need a front wheel walker or my cane to walk. The Orange County Orthopedic Group only wants your INSURANCE $. They misdiagnosed my wife who was experience lower back pain and stated, "we will do everything to avoid surgery." This created insurance billing for over 2 month with unhelpful shots (10 in one visit) which resulted in to paralysis in her leg. The chiropractic procedures DO NOTHING and are non responsive. They herd you into the office(waited 1.5hrs for a scheduled appointment) and push you out with no relief all for insurance billing. Avoid these doctors at all cost. They will try to move you through their network of partnering Dr's in order to continue billing your insurance "Oh see a nerve Dr., I have someone I can recommend he's expecting you." Or, "I guess you'll have to see a Spine Surgeon now, oh I have someone I can recommend, he's expecting you." Really...? Initially Dr. Vyas you advised that surgery would be the last result. Oh, I get it. 3 months of insurance billing and paralysis now push you on to the next.....Crooks.....! read more

I saw both vyas and Patel. I didnt have a problem with vyas. the staff was awful and unorganized. I waited 1-3 hours after my appointment time to see the doctor each time I went. for Patel I was told I couldn't get my pain medication unless I went in monthly, which after changing determined was a complete lie. Dr. Shail Vyas was helpful but their accounting is messed up. My son broke his arm in January 2016, after I had paid all of my bills to them in the office and via mail by April 2016, I get another bill in January 2017. I have been given various excuses by their office for about 3 months for not sending my the bill for 9 months. It's not about he money, its unethical to bill someone after 9 months because they can't handle the billing work!! So be ware!! you might just get a surprise bill a year from now because the work load was too much for their office. Doctors are great here, but the support staff is totally overwhelmed, to say the least. This is my 4 th visit, and everytime i was 5 mins early at least. Yet every time it took them at least 30 mins to process me in, and another 15 mins at least to actually get to see the Dr. Very poor service. Dr V and Jeannie the X ray tech are AWESOME and make you feel like they give a damn. His front crew is a joke. I arrived early to feel out paper work and was eye balled with a sour look on their face. I was in pain and needed to sit down. Prior to my visit I had left numerous messages to schedule an appointment with no returned phone calls. I finally got a hold of someone and got an appointment I called back to tell them my MRI results were being courier over and they couldn't find my appointment. Upon arriving 2/14/18 I never received any type of greeting almost ignored. I received paperwork and after sitting,I was called back to the desk for payment. The girl was busy talking to someone else,I couldn't hear how much she was charging, so when I asked she scream it back at me as either I was deaf or I couldn't afford it! Yesterday, I received a phone (3)calls telling me I was approved from something Dr. V requested. I called their office the phone rang 10x no joke. I told the girl about the approval and she told me it was for my initial meeting with Dr V I told her I had already seen Dr V the day before and it was something he requested. She put me on hold and after a few long mins she came back and told me I was wrong, as the nurse had not requested anything. 2 of the calls came the same day I left seeing Dr V I have the (3) recordings. Today, 2/16/18 I received another recording and I tried calling Dr. V's office I counted off 10x's and no answer looked on Website reads open today. I've been a patient of Dr. S. Vyas for years now. He has been one of the best physicians of any type I have seen in my life. I suffer from Lupus SLE & Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I have seen a lot of physicians over the past 30 years, & I have a lot of personal experience to make this assessment from. Haidi & Jeanne, his medical assistants are just as competent in their jobs as Dr. Vyas is in his, and just a delight to be around, making being ill/injured so much easier. I started seeing Dr. Vyas due to an injury to my R knee, & I had a fall last month (due to RA symptoms) & Dr. Vyas & his staff got me in the Monday after my fall, which caused a fracture in my L foot, even fitting me into his schedule after he had been on vacation. I will refer Dr. Vyas to my friends, if they need an Orthopaedic Surgeon, as I know they will get the same respect & wonderful treatment as I have. Dr Shail Vyas is a very kind and caring physician. Mix those qualities with his expertise and razor sharp intellect and you have an expert orthopedic. An added bonus - his UCLA background! Once again gave me steroid injections into my painful shoulder after explaining safety and operative procedure I would need. He discussed PLP and stem cell therapy and the effectiveness and costs. I came in last Thursday for a consultation with Dr. Patel for my chronic pain. To begin the staff was rude, unprofessional, they did not even acknowledge patients coming in. When I was finally taken into a room,the doctor came in almost 30 min after. Immediately she suggested injections without knowing my case well enough, when I denied she lowered the dose on my medications. This is a joke of a practice, I will never come to this doctor and would reconsider if I were you. I did some digging around about this doctor, come to find out she IS NOT BOARD CERTIFIED YET. I have rare conditions not many doctors know how to treat. I have been in chronic pain. I went to go see Dr. Lee for a nagging wrist problem that lasted a little over two months. Being a high school coach, I had small first aid background; I went through R.I.C.E procedure to see if that would help. (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) No luck. Afterwards, I used my high school's electrostim machine during my off hours to see if that would help. No luck. I finally went on an over the counter Naproxen (Aleve) regiment for ten days to see would do the trick for my wrist problem. No luck. During this whole time, I wore a wrist brace 24/7 to see if that would also help with pain in my wrist. I finally broke down and went to go see Dr. Lee for my wrist problem. Dr. Lee did a initial examination of my wrist. We ended up having to get an injection in my wrist for my pain. The pain in my wrist went away immediately. I went to go play golf couple days later. Dr. Lee was very professional and courteous throughout this whole ordeal. He is very knowledgeable and explained things in layman's terms for a guy like me. I would highly recommend anybody with small or big injuries to go see Dr. Lee. read more

I'm long overdo with this review but better late than never. Dr. V is a rock star imho. I had been suffering from a bad knee for years my regular ortho always said the same thing, ice it and wear a brace even though my knee was swollen as big as my thigh. I was doing a TV show in Hawaii when I slipped on some rocks and really cranked it. After the standard visit to my doctor and the same advice I said screw this and started looking for another doctor. Happily I found Dr. Vyas. First visit in he looked at my knee and said we need to fix this. He drained the knee and could have filled a beer bottle with the amount of fluid he drew. The relief was immediate! I figured I was cured! Oh no he said, we're just starting. He sent me for xrays and an MRI that same day. The staff set it all up for me. The tests showed a pretty severely torn acl and some other stuff. I was in surgery a week later. It took that long because it was new years and I wanted to celebrate hehe. The 45 minute procedure took 2 and a half hours because of all the damage he found inside. He put together a rehab program for me and had me back at work in 8 months, not the 12 to 14 he thought it may take because of "a man of my age" lol. That was 3 years ago. I still work out every day and play golf 3 times a week. It's a miracle I tells ya! Shout out to Patricia and my buddy Larry and all the staff. They took brilliant care of me. Two stars for the office being very nice and clean but as far as service if my dad didn't really need to get his wrist looked at we would have just left!! Being a new patient your told to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out forms but the girls at the counter were extremely busy and didn't even look at us so after signing in we waited 45 minutes before getting called to the counter and then given the forms for new patients! Once we finally got to a room we waited another 15 minutes only to have a nurse come in and ask us to move to a different room because the room we were in was used for injections. Finally the doctor came in looks at the wrist and says he needs an X-ray done so another 15 minutes! After getting the X-ray then doctor comes in let's us know the options but his phone was dinging from incoming messages and stops explaining about the wrist to read his message! Then he was in a hurry as we were asking questions he was side stepping out of the room!! read more

My son was seen by Dr. Shail Vyas for a broken finger - setting it or surgery were offered as possible treatment. When he numbed my son's finger, he moved the needle around rather than repeatedly inserting it which left the entire circumference cut and bleeding. He haphazardly taped two bleeding fingers together without cleaning them up. The tape was crooked and not professionally done at all. When I asked for it to be cleaned up and re-taped, he told me I could do that at home. I asked for a roll of tape and he told me to go buy one. When I pleaded for a roll of tape, he offered me a half roll from his pocket. He over billed my insurance 3-5 times per item what he was allowed to bill which was corrected by the insurance company. He gave us no directions as to what to do. When I asked for directions, he said well if you want to come back and have me check it, you can. Given that surgery was one option and we left with a bloody crooked taped finger, I elected to have a 2nd opinion based on my lack of confidence in his competence. The 2nd doctor said surgery was recommended, but he could put a soft cast on it, up to the mid forearm for 4 weeks, followed by a 2 finger splint for 2 weeks. I definitely would not recommend Dr. Shail Vyas. read more

i went to dr patel office for chronic pain. waited a while in front reception area then was called to the front desk.the girl told me it would be $125. i told her my co pay is only $40.she kept insisting it was $125. i asked her to check with her superviser, she rolled her eyes in disgust then went into back office and came out and told me it is $125. i did not get her name but she is the fat mexican girl. very very rude. i finally got called to exam room. very filthy. dr patel came in , she asked a few questions, maybe 10 minutes worth,then said i needed some xrays. she left the room and in less then 2 minutes another person came in and immediately wanted $100. for xrays. i asked why they want money now when they don't know what my copay is until they submit the bill. they said it would be $100. so i paid it . when i got my statement from my insurance company they said my co pay for both the office visit and exrays was $40 yet they charged me $225 !!!! i asked the girl in charge of claims why dr patel charges up front when she doesn't know what the charges will be until they are submitted !! she said this is the way dr patel wants to do business!!! seems to me dr patel is far more concerned getting all the money she can out of her patients and no concern for the patient themselves!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK!! but i did get my money owed refunded . read more

Last year on July 4 th I broke my shin bone. After a long night in ER, and a referral to Dr. Vyas I was finally home. On July 6 th, I saw Dr. Vyas for the first time. After my intail visit and scheduling my next visit, I had to ask how much was this going to cost me. I did not have insurance at that time due to not being at my job long enough before getting hurt to obtain it. So, I was told they work with me.. of course I was like great this is going to cost me not only an arm but my leg too. Lol. But once I was ready to pay for the first visit I was shocked that it wasn't a mortgage payment not even really a car payment that I had to pay. Dr Vyas and his staff has been truly amazing. He is straight forward and honest. Everything he has said has been spot on in my recovery. I m coming to the end of my care with him since there isn't much else that can be done and I highly recommend him for orthopedic or sports injuries. He has helped me so much. And all I can say is that when it time for me to have another knee surgery which due to my lifestyle I ll be seeing him for that that for sure. read more
