I can speak and offer opinions with particularity and knowledge about hospitality. Unfortunately, lately, service and attention to detail have declined significantly. Perhaps due to cutting corners and not giving travelers what they deserve. Remember, people look for that little corner that somehow makes them feel close to home. I was very surprised and delighted to find this place. I didn't expect such personalized, friendly, and professional service. When I checked into the condo, I was pleasantly surprised. Large, comfortable, well-appointed, and with very tasteful details in the decor. Very well thought out. The privacy of the unit (305B) is excellent. The kitchenware and utensils are of very high quality. But the most important thing is the cleanliness and hygiene. A very rare bird, or Rara Avis, to find. I hope they continue like this. Especially with the bedding and towels. I wish them the best. Just one detail. They should have at least one unit with a shower for disabled guests, not for me, but for other people. Thank you.

I had a back ache both early mornings, waking up well before I wanted to. The ironing board is one of those mini ones with a dirty old cover. Although there were wine glasses, there was no cork screw in the room. Although there are big candles in the bathroom there is no matches provided to light them. The s'mores kit we were provided had stale marshmallows. One of the bathroom sink bowls had some kind of unsightly chemical damage. In-room TV is small (20") and low quality. Refrigerator froze our milk solid. I'd be fine with the issues of this place, if the price was lower. For the price they are charging, none of these cons should exist.

In A Nutshell:…read more -Larsmont Cottages is a very nice place if you want to get away for a long weekend. -It's definitely "glamping" where you can either be a part-owner or rent. -Since I don't live in the area, we ended up renting a small room during 2018 Labor Day weekend. -Parking was always easy to find. -The location is off the beaten path & along the north shore of Lake Superior. -You can ask for a free smores kit at check-in & then use any of their awesome campfires along the lake. -They will light the fires for you & provide free wood to toss in. -The room we rented had comfortable queen-sized bed & private bathroom. -We even got a free bottle of champagne in ice & a personal message welcoming us. Overall, I would stay here again. I love Two Harbors and the entire area. It's much better than going to Lake Tahoe bc there's little to no traffic & Lake Superior is the biggest freshwater lake in America.

The inn keepers are very friendly and welcomed us with open arms. Our room was small, but sufficient, with a fireplace and a balcony overlooking the lake. There is not much to do in the town of Cornucopia, which is about 20 minutes from Bayfield, but there are a few nice hikes near the B&B, or you can just relax on your balcony. I would recommend stopping by Siskiwit Falls, which is very close to the B&B. Bruce and Sandy serve breakfast at 8:30 am. Everything is homemade using local ingredients. On the day we were there, they served a quiche with sausage and wild rice, apple spic muffins and fruit. One thing to know, they do not accept credit cards! Make sure you have enough cash or your check book to pay for your room.

Not knowing what her future prognosis was, I contacted the Inn and spoke to Julie attempting to cancel and hopefully get at least a portion of my deposit refunded. Nope. Apparently, the cancellation policy at The Inn has no room for family emergencies. She blatantly told me that, not only would I not be refunded my $300 deposit, BUT If she could not book the room to someone else, I would also be responsible for the remaining balance. She than gave me one other option of switching my dates to the next week but that was the only time she would give us because the rates go up after Memorial Day. I was so irate and overwhelmed, I told her I would call her back in a few days once we found out more info on my moms health. After 3 days in the hospital, my mom was up and moving and her doc said some fresh air could do her some good. So I phone Julie again and let her know we would be keeping the reservation. (Not really any other options or I would be out $910. Get to the Inn the afternoon of the 13th and as I am checking in and paying, I see that my balance due is now a little over $700 and I question Julie about it. She gaslights me and tells me that's the amount I gave you over the phone when we spoke. Which is not true, because I wrote the remaining balance down in my planner. So I'm going over the receipt and I see that she has charged me $15 a night for my service dog. "The ADA and the state of Minnesota prohibit public accommodations from charging a special admission fee or requiring anyone to pay any other extra fee or cost to have a service animal with you". So I asked Julie if she were really charging me for my service dog and her response was she would have to clean up after him. Strike two. We park, get out of my vehicle and look UP UP a huge steep set of stairs which lead to The Wolves Den which is our accommodation for the week. My mom just had a stroke. Her body isn't even working at 75% and now we have to go up and down these stairs the whole week! WTF?! Trying to stay positive, my husband and I unload everything and help my mom up to the room. Open the door and oh good lord. ‍ There's no separate sleeping area so all 4 people that the room supposedly sleeps, are right next to each other. Awkward but again willing to make the best out of it and maybe a good idea to be so close to my mom in case anything happened. The bathroom folks...in 5'2 and small. You can't open the doors and go in to sit on the toilet without opening one door, sliding in sideways closing the other door than moving over to the toilet and closing the second door. My husband is 6'2. He was miserable. He couldn't even stand up fully in the shower. On a positive note, they have supplied you with dishes, silverware, coffee pot, stove and mini fridge and a microwave from the year I was born (1974). I was bound & determined to make this late Mothers Day trip a good one and hope that it helped my mom heal up from her stroke. In the middle of the night on Monday May 16th my mom had another mini stroke. Terrified, we contacted her medical team and threw everything on my vehicle and took off for home and the hospital. I messaged Julie and let her know the situation and that we had to cut our stay short to rush my mother home and I asked if she could or would consider compensating us with a refund for the two remaining nights we had left on our reservation. Her response was that she would "figure out a rain check for us to use at another date" I have never in my life felt so defeated and disregarded by another selfish human in my life. I understand a business needs to make a profit, but where is the humanity? The empathy or basic human compassion? Thanks but no thanks to your offer of a rain check. I will not EVER stay at your establishment again. My mother ended up having to be taken by ambulance to Fargo to have Carotid Endarterectomy surgery. I live 2 hours away and have had to drive both ways each day. I could have really used the refund so I could've stayed closer to my mom in Fargo. I am SO angry with this establishment and disappointed in the behavior of its owner. I love supporting small local businesses but this one completely ruined that for me. P.S. the pancakes were good.

The cabin is comfortable with all rustic decor including a canopy style bed made completely of lightly varnished walnut rough cut. The kitchenette is fully furnished with pots, pans and dish-ware. At least one morning the owners will bring a delicious fresh breakfast directly to your door. We enjoyed omelets and blueberry pancakes. The view outside is directly looking at Lake Superior. We could also see the lake perfectly from our ground floor living room. The sunsets and sunrises are perfect from the little table and chairs outside the front door. Wifi is available and cell reception was fine. The inn is situated just 5 miles north of Duluth on 61. Don't let this understated gem pass you by! Thank you Butch and Julie for the wonderful stay!

The resort was very understanding and allowed us to cancel day-of and not charge a penalty. While we can't comment on the facilities at the resort, the friendliness of the staff was truly amazing. We will definitely stay here next summer when we try to do our north shore vacation again!

One thing to note is that the entrance to the neighboring guest room is right next to your door. We were lucky the first night and had no neighbors, but the second night we did and my dog barked at every footstep she heard. Next time, out of respect for our neighbors (and to give our dog more space) we'd probably opt for a pet friendly cabin instead. One nice thing about the guestroom is that you do have a view of the lake. Unfortunately, the restaurant was just okay. We ordered takeout for both dinner and breakfast, and while it was fine, nothing really stood out. I was really looking forward to using the pool, hot tub, and sauna. Sadly, the pool was closed during our stay. The hot tub was open, but I couldn't figure out how to keep the bubbles on, which was a bit of a letdown. The lodge does seem to offer great amenities like bonfire pits and s'mores, which we were excited about. Unfortunately, they weren't out while we were there. I know these are weather dependent, but the weather didn't seem that bad while we were there. The staff were incredible, everyone from the front desk to the restaurant were nice and accommodating to any request we needed.

We did take note on what sites we would stay in if we went again. I would tell you but then we'd never be able to book them. This is a busy place that is hard to get into even for the not so great sites... That being said, there wasn't people noise. Everyone was quiet and respectful. Fun activities nearby: Hiked to town on the trail to visit the lighthouse. Rented a kayak at the beach and paddled to the lighthouse. Dog swam and froze to death in the lake... Lots of rocks to pick. The charming cabin was very cozy on the cold winter nights, fireplace in the living room, a well run resort in a perfect location, reasonably priced. We came up for the snow, cross country skiing and a romantic New Years holiday, it was great! When everywhere else in Wisconsin had a dusting of snow the Siskiwit area had 8" of snow. There were even skiers coming in from Minnesota in search of cross country ski trails with snow. Down hill ski areas and cross country trails were within 1/2 hr from the cabins in Bayfield. Mt Valhalla Recreation Area with cross country ski trails was only a 15-20 min. drive. Multiple snowmobile trails all across the area. Too bad Lake Superior wasn't frozen, because we could have visited the ice caves of the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore which are just 5 minutes down Highway 13 from Siskiwit River Cabins. The Siskiwit River Cabins is on Siskiwit Bay. Siskiwit comes from an Ojibwe word for Lake trout. I hear fishing is great. Even a smoke house on the harbor selling smoked fish.
