Beacon Pointe I have been and try to be a frequent traveler. Through my professional activity and vacations with my family, I have had the opportunity and blessing to travel around many parts of the world. I can speak and offer opinions with particularity and knowledge about hospitality. Unfortunately, lately, service and attention to detail have declined significantly. Perhaps due to cutting corners and not giving travelers what they deserve. Remember, people look for that little corner that somehow makes them feel close to home. I was very surprised and delighted to find this place. I didn't expect such personalized, friendly, and professional service. When I checked into the condo, I was pleasantly surprised. Large, comfortable, well-appointed, and with very tasteful details in the decor. Very well thought out. The privacy of the unit (305B) is excellent. The kitchenware and utensils are of very high quality. But the most important thing is the cleanliness and hygiene. A very rare bird, or Rara Avis, to find. I hope they continue like this. Especially with the bedding and towels. I wish them the best. Just one detail. They should have at least one unit with a shower for disabled guests, not for me, but for other people. We booked Beacon Pointe this past weekend to attend a family members wedding. I booked a Lakeview Suite with balcony & added the romance package - bubbly + chocolates for Sunday. We paid in advance - in full. 1st thing I noticed after booking was that the romance package wasnt noted on the confirmation. No big deal. I called them to confirm it was included as well as our check-in time. Well, we ran into a number of flight delays that resulted in us missing the 1st night (Saturday) & arriving mid-day Sunday. I called Beacon & kept them apprised of the ongoing schedule changes & they assured me that everything was fine & that they'd hold the room. Which they did. We arrived on Sunday, checked in & the 1st thing I noticed was that we were on the 1st floor - so no balcony. It was disappointing but after our long trip, I didn't feel like making a fuss about it because we still had a lake view & it was really nice. 2nd thing I noticed was the smell in the room. It was awful. It smelled like a mix of maybe mold / wet dog / something old. Hubby was pretty sure the smell was coming from the carpets. Pleaseeeee clean / replace those carpets! 3rd thing I noticed were the thick, pull down shades for the door to the lake. So there was no way to have any level of privacy while still enjoying some of the view. Either you got full on blackout curtains with 0 visibility or you & your (ass)sets were exposed to anyone who walked by - thought that was kind of odd. 4th thing was the cute handwritten note welcoming us to the property, along with our chocolates & bubbly. The bubbly was WARM. The ice was completely melted. Not sure how long it sat in the room but clearly it was there for a while. The resort fact sheet with recommended restaurants on the back was clutch! The customer service was subpar, especially for the price! Check-in was fine but we noticed early on that there was usually no one at the front desk & when someone was there, they weren't particularly helpful. We were trying to get to the wedding & our Uber / Lfyt kept canceling. We asked the front desk if there was a more reliable mode of local transportation & her response was "I don't know but you can Google it". Obviously, we could have Google it (and ended up doing exactly that) but the response was a huge turnoff for a $300/night establishment. Concierge, please! Beyond that, the room was nice & clean - though a little smaller than I expected. The jacuzzi in the room was great. The kitchenette was well stocked with plates, cups, etc but there were no bottles of water - and no, we dont do tap water. The water pressure was fantastic but it didn't get very hot, so if you like hot showers, you won't get that here. The bed & pillows were clean & comfortable. The view was beautiful & I realllly wish we had more time to enjoy it. All in all, we would recommend Beacon Pointe - providing that they really do something about those carpets, customer service & curtains! Insanely overpriced for the quality you get. I was really excited for this weekend getaway considering how beautiful they made the resort sound. That excitement quickly left once we checked in, as the $300 a night room gave us a queen bed and a moldy tub and ac unit. We decided on the "condo" because it was an upgraded room and included pictures of a soaking tub overlooking the lake. Our tub is definitely not near a view of the lake, and is surrounded by mold! We asked if we could be moved to a different room but we're told they are booked for the weekend. So now I get no relaxing bath, and a smaller more uncomfortable mattress than I have at home...great "vacation". read more

I really liked this resort. It's in a great location in Duluth right on the lake. I thought It was absolutely great there was a handwritten letter welcoming us to our room when we arrived. They have complementary free bike rents, movies popcorn, and board games. The hotel has an in door pool and hot tub. They also have a fitness center, underground heated parking and a car wash bay. I definitely recommend this resort if you're staying in Duluth. I will definitely be going back and staying there again. Sunrise and sunset are absolutely breathtaking at this location. read more

This is my favorite place to stay whether on a weekend getaway or extended holiday. I have stayed in nearly every type of room available at Beacon Pointe, and on this past stay have been in the 1 bedroom penthouse. All I can say is "I'm lovin' it!" Such a spacious room that feels like a home away from home. My children are thrilled with the accommodations including the patio and balcony views which offer gorgeous views of Lake Superior. I haven't yet jumped in the jacuzzi located in the master bedroom or enjoyed the complimentary movie collection and popcorn offered at the front desk. I will but first I need to check out the flat screen tv in the living room area. I'm in heaven. read more

My entire family stayed at Beacon Pointe about a month ago for my brother's wedding, along with the couples' friends and other family members. What a treat! Since we were all in the same building it was nice to be able to go from room to room at different times to hang out: brunch in one room, wedding hair and makeup getting ready in someone else's, after party in another room, after after party in another. Since none of us live in Duluth we stayed for a number of days at the condo - hence my lengthy review. My immediate family stayed in a 4 bedroom penthouse which was on the top floor (2 floors) on the left corner of the building. The condos are arranged so that you walk into one door and then the units split off into 3 other units (2 downstairs, and 1 loft upstairs), all still connected if you want them to be. Altogether we had 4 decks which to me was one of the best parts - to have multiple private outdoor spaces with the most gorgeous views of the lake imaginable, it's right there! The downstairs left unit had 2 bedrooms (one with a jacuzzi in the room, lots of windows, access to the bathroom and a deck.) The other bedroom didn't have any windows or a ventilation system, so it got very hot and stuffy at night even with the door open and fans. The full kitchen had top of the line stainless steel appliances, fancy counter tops, a convenient island, and plenty of space to store and prepare food. The living space was very comfortable with multiple seating areas, table and chairs, sofas, and another deck. It was lovely and we spent most of our time gathering there for meals, games and hanging out. The downstairs left unit has one bedroom, a mini kitchen, bathroom, and deck access. It would be the perfect room for a couple on vacation (like my parents, who stayed there.) The upstairs loft unit was AMAZING. If I lived in Duluth I would try to buy this unit for my apartment, it was the perfect open layout. A huge bedroom with tall ceilings and a jacuzzi in the room. A large closet and extra storage, mini kitchen, large living space with pullout couch and flat-screen TV. Another room was separated with french doors and another seating area with pullout couch. Window everywhere and 2 decks, both enormous. We spent most of our after hours time in these units as we felt being up high we wouldn't disturb other guests, plus the outdoor access at night was beautiful with the stars, the lake, cold beverages, the crisp breeze.. paradise. Service was outstanding. We had lots of trouble with our room keys becoming demagnetized but everyone was very helpful and kept making new ones for us. We broke a glass at one point and the staff came with a broom, dustpan, and vacuum to be sure our bare feet didn't get cut. Cleaning service was good and timely. Complimentary breakfast was a little basic - cereal, yogurt, fruit, orange juice, and a few pastries. It was free so I can't really complain, but I personally love a hearty warm breakfast. Extra bonuses: + Every night the is a lakeside camp fire and the hotel/condo provides materials for making s'mores. + Free bikes to ride on the lake walk. + Pool area is nice and very clean. + Free Starbucks coffee anytime you want downstairs. + Free wifi all over the building, never had a problem connecting. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone planning a wedding in Duluth, or needing a little R & R lakeside. The location is convenient right off the highway, at the bottom of the hill that leads up to the college, just down the road from downtown shopping/Canal Park, and right on the lake walk leading to the rose garden/park. Perkins, McDonalds, Black Woods, and Subway are super close. This place is deluxe. read more

My mom rented a three bedroom lake view condo here for us to stay in for my grandma's 90th birthday celebration in late June of 2012. Five of us shared the condo, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beacon Pointe. Our second floor condo had 3 private balconies and lake views from every room. We could also watch the barges come in to port and then see the Duluth drawbridge raise to let them through. Two of the three bedrooms had jacuzzis in the bedroom which allowed me to take a couple bubble baths while watching and listening to the waves of Lake Superior roll in as well as watching TV from my bath! Ridiculously relaxing. We are sticklers for privacy and even though there were walls of windows, they were very well tinted and people could only see in if the sun hit them just so. We were welcomed with a few delicious bags of gourmet popcorn and the resort offered a nice continental breakfast each morning, s'mores bonfire at night, sauna, pool and hot tub, and bikes and board games were free to check out. There are great bike trails along the lake right by the condos, which we explored. The resort has easy walking access to the rocky shoreline for those wishing to rock hunt, and also easy access to I-35 which will take you right in to downtown Duluth. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had 2 iPhones, a MacBook and a PC and all were able to connect to the WiFi with no issues. I would definitely return to this resort and will recommend it to family and friends and fellow Yelpers! read more

We really enjoyed our stay at this resort and will very likely be back. Located right off the highway and right on the shore of Lake Superior, it's a great place location-wise. Even from a first-floor room, we had a great view, able to see the shoreline and Duluth's famous bridge. Very close to downtown and so was convenient for accessing all of the places we were visiting during our stay. The room itself was clean, well-appointed, etc. It was a tad bit on the small side but not too bad. There was a shower in the bathroom (more on that below) and a jacuzzi tub in the room. I didn't get a chance to use the tub, much to my personal chagrin. But maybe next time. It looked awesome, though. Our only real gripe about the room was that there was no closet. Just a closet bar for hangers that was located above the mini-fridge. But when I hung my coat up, it was too long and draped over the mini-fridge (and it was a pea coat -- not a real long coat or anything). This would be really inconvenient if you had fancy clothes or long dresses with you. Fortunately, we did not... There's a mini-fridge, small TV, small table (but no desk), sink in the room and limited assortment of other useful things: coffeemaker, silverware, corkscrew, etc. We did find it very nice that there was an actual 12 cup coffee maker in the room and not one of those little one-cup deals. The rooms have appropriate blinds that do a very good job blocking out the sun and glare from the lake and little walk-out patios so you can enjoy the view. Free Wi-fi. I will say that the shower was ridiculously entertaining to me -- it looks like a robot, all chrome covered and fancy. (see my photo) If you turn the dial one way to the right, you get a shower. If you turn it to the other side, though, jets of pressurized water shoot out of these three little nozzles... and of course it's cold when you are just turning the shower on! There are instructions in the shower when you first check in, but easy to miss because they are on the same plaque as the "towels on the floor mean replace" instructions. It also takes a little while to figure out how to control the temperature. Couple other minor things to mention: -At check in, the woman explained where to park, but we still found it a bit confusing. The resort is basically a bunch of converted condos and is right next to an actual set of privately owned condos. It's tough at first glance to tell which is which, especially if it is dark. -There is a pool and a small workout facility. -Continental breakfast was nothing to write home about. The coffee was bad, there were no bowls for the cereal and the bagel was just OK. Best thing we scored there was the banana. -Complimentary newspapers are nice to have, located near the front desk. -I will say the staff was very accommodating and honored our requests for a late checkout and extra coffee packets for the coffee maker. -Oddly, when we checked out, the computer was saying we had like a 57 cent balance. This was apparently a known problem and the manager/guy helping me worked together to adjust the bill back to zero. But it was really strange and made me wonder why it happened, and if it is known to happen, why it hasn't been fixed? -Prepayment of one night's deposit required in advance (you are charged for one night right away when you make the reservation, in other words). Refundable up to a certain point. Just FYI. But overall we were pretty pleased and found this to be a lovely place to stay that met our needs and certainly was a good value for the price (about $125 in November -- off season). I just stayed there for a second time. My family rented 2 pent houses for a big gathering. The rooms were very clean, staff was kind and helpful and went above and beyond for us. After our two night stay over the weekend, we all decided that we are going to make this an annual thing for our big family. Pool and hot tub was clean. Plenty of towels. Great coffee and morning snacks. And the best part of it all is the view. You are literally feet from the shore and can watch the lake right from your room. I highly recommend this place. Don't come here if you want quiet, romantic and peaceful getaway. Positive: We stayed here during Mother's Day weekend. The staff were courteous and prompt. The location was convenient and the view was beautiful!! The bed and pillows were sooo comfortable. The hot tub inside the room was nice. The kitchenette was stocked with silverware, plates etc. The fridge was convenient. All the things the hotel and staff were in control of was overall good! The amenities were limited due to the COVID-19. We could not use the pool, fitness center or the bonfire outside. The continental breakfast was good for the limited items, you get bagels, yogurt, donuts, all prepackaged due to the COVID-19. Negative: We stayed at a regular room, not a suite the first night. The room was big and the bathroom was great. The negative was the insulation in the rooms. The walls were super thin! You can hear everything, the neighbors beside us talked all night long from 12am-6am. We called at 2am to kindly ask the front staff to give them a ring since it appeared that they were having a party. The neighbors stopped but only for 2 hours. So we did not get any sleep the first night. We were upgraded to a water view room the next morning. It was absolutely beautiful however the same issue the WALLS and neighbors were so loud from 8pm- 2am. It was very apparent that NOONE FOLLOWED THE QUIET TIME RULE IN THE PROPERTY. It did not matter if you were in the biggest suite, you will not REPEAT, not get any sleep. We were situated in between a family of 5 and a rowdy 30s something who SCREAMED and YELLED the whole night. The suites are situated poorly, you can hear doors slamming and closing every 20 minutes. You can hear kids yelling and crying. Lastly, at night you can only hear drunk, obnoxious guest cussing at each other and yelling on the top of their lungs not the water. In addition, the non smoking doesn't apply here. Unfortunately, we will NOT stay here again. Quality of sleep trumps any view a hotel can provide. The guests here are not ATROCIOUS, the hotel staff do not control the noise what so ever. For the quality of the rooms and how nice the property, the guest and the quality of PEACE and SERENITY you deserve will not be in this property. read more

We rented the 3 bedroom unit for 2 nights. When we arrived and divided the rooms up between 5 adults. In the second king bedroom we realized there was no air conditioner. We went back to the front desk who checked other 2 bedroom units and we were told all the second bedroom units had no air conditioner. They did refund our money. We found another hotel. This might not bother anyone else but we would not stay there in 80 to 90 degree weather. The rooms seemed nice enough but for the price you would expect air. read more

We rented a 2 bedroom condo for a weekend get together with family. Overall we were happy with the stay. We had a wonderful unit and it was more spacious than I had anticipated. The front desk staff and housekeeping were friendly and attentive to our needs. One disappointment was that we were planning to have a wedding vow renewal on the area behind the building. There was no place to go close to the lake for this ceremony due to fresh covered grass seed being all over the entire grassy space. The adjacent buildings are all private property so no way we could go there either. We had to make other arrangements for the ceremony at an alternate site at the last minute unfortunately. Make sure to call ahead about this if you plan to do any activity behind the building because there is not much space in general. The manager said it was due to storm damage and apologized. Our unit was beautiful and big with a wonderful deck overlooking the lake. We had food catered in from the Duluth Grill (excellent by the way) and we had enough space for 12 people to come to our room and eat. They had free s'mores and popcorn at night. Also underground parking was great! A couple of minor things that I didn't like were-no working fans in either bathroom. Also, a 2 sided fireplace between the living room and main bedroom created a small privacy issue. This was a bit awkward because if someone is sitting in the living room they can see a bit into the bedroom. If you want good privacy this might not be ideal if sharing a room with other people or having kids sleep on the couch hide a bed. I guess in general I don't want people in my living room seeing into my bedroom. Other than the grass seed issue out back and the other small items I have mentioned we had a great stay. I've reviewed this hotel in the past, but after having stayed here many times over the years with the most recent being this last weekend, in many different types of rooms, I decided to make a "summary" review. I'll start with the bad, since that's generally what most people want to know right off the bat! Cons: Noise- The walls aren't very thick and you can sometimes hear your neighbors. The doors to the rooms are also very heavy and often slam shut. We stayed most recently in a penthouse suite and were hopeful we wouldn't have issues with noise, however, the rooms below us had their entry doors right below our bedroom, so we were woken several times. There are "quiet hours" at the hotel which they do enforce, however I'm not sure the regular closing of doors falls into this. Price-On the more expensive side of hotel prices in Duluth, this can certainly be an issue for some. There are many amenities you get included with the price of your room (bikes for rent, smores at night, free movies you can check out at the desk, breakfast, pool, hot tub). Maintenance of the property-This has gone downhill over the years. When I first stayed at this hotel years ago, it had just opened and everything was brand new. After our most recent stay this last weekend, I can see that the hotel is starting to show some wear. For example, we had issues with the television in our bedroom during our last stay. The screen wouldn't turn on and per the front desk, this is a known issues and unplugging the TV from the wall fixes it. Well, this happened every time we wanted to watch TV and often took several attempts of unplugging the TV. For the price we paid per night for our room, they could have afforded a new TV with just one night of our stay. Pros: THE VIEW: This is what brings us back, year after year, despite all the cons I listed above. You can beat the panoramic views of the lake and with the waves crashing right below your balcony, there's nothing more relaxing than listening to that while laying in bed or sitting on the balcony. Location: The location is great, in my opinion. You are close enough to downtown and Canal Park without being in the mix of all the business that can happen in those areas. You are also close to the highway that takes you up the shore. Staff: Staff here have generally always been friendly. They explain the amenities when you check in and have been responsive when we have called the desk. Amenities: There are lots of perks when staying here, I listed a few above. They include bikes for rent, smores at night at a fire outside, movies for rent, nice breakfast, coffee in the lobby all day, fridges in the rooms, plates/silverware in the rooms, heated underground parking, pool, hot tub, workout room. I have stayed in several different type of rooms, here are my thoughts on them. Lakeside Suite: King size bed, small table with chairs, kitchenette, Jacuzzi tub in the room next to the bed, private balcony overlooking the lake. This room is a great option if you aren't looking to spend the money for a larger room. The balcony is great and you look out over the water. If you are staying at this hotel, don't waste your money if you aren't going to get a room overlooking the water, that's the biggest draw of this hotel! 1 bedroom Penthouse Suite: this is the room we had during our most recent stay. Separate bedroom from the living area with a king bed and TV, separate area for the Jacuzzi tub, bathroom with a shower, kitchenette, living area with a queen size sleeper sofa, table with four chairs, great views of the lake, private rooftop patio. This room was nice, but I'm not sure if was worth the extra money compared to the lakeside suite. We still had a kitchenette, but the Jacuzzi was in a separate room from the bed which is nice. It is definitely bigger than the lakeside suite. You do need to go up a set of stairs to get to this room, the elevator does not go up all the way, so keep that in mind if you have lots of luggage to take up to the room or difficulty navigating stairs. The rooftop patio was lovely but I did miss hearing the water from our bedroom like you can in the lakeside suite. This room would be great for more than two people since the living area is so large and has the extra sleeper sofa. One bedroom condo: we were upgraded to this room because of a fluke booking issue. This room is very large, with a full kitchen including a stove/oven and full fridge. The bedroom is separate from the living area. There is a large living room with a fireplace. The view from our particular condo was amazing since we were on the end facing the lift bridge. This room would be great if you can afford the price and are staying at the hotel for a longer stay since the kitchen may really come in handy. Overall, I keep coming back to this hotel because I know the cons and honestly, with the view and location, its worth dealing with the issues I've encountered. read more

Service-ok...no one mentioned you could rent bikes to take on the bikepath- something I did not remember as well from an ad and part of the reason I booked there. On a recent overnight trip to Duluth I spent 2 nights at Beacon Pointe. I would return here without any hesitation. We originally booked a 1BR penthouse suite but decided we'd prefer a 2BR unit once we checked in. Staff were very accommodating. Since there was still availability we rebooked into the larger unit and negotiated a 20 percent discounted rate. Our unit was clean, spacious and quiet. It's a beautiful setting and just steps away from Lake Superior. Our 2BR unit was equipped with a full kitchen, large common area and outside patio with a gas fireplace. The location is great. Literally steps away from the Lake Walk that brings you right into Canal Park. It's probably about a 25 minute walk to Canal Park and local restaurants or if you prefer just a short drive (less than 10) in the car. That's probably one of the drawbacks here. If you prefer to be a short walking distance away from restaurants and shops than you may prefer to stay directly in Canal Park. I think the peace and quiet of Beacon Pointe is worth the short distance to restaurants and shopping. read more

If you are looking for a place full of calm, serenity, nature and beauty, look no further! Beacon Pointe Resort is THE place to be! This place is about 1.5 months old and you can still smell the bit of new construction...that's how new it is. We kind of went on a 'mini honeymoon' and basically just to get away from everyday living in the Twin Cities. It was PERFECT! It was peaceful and enjoyable! We stayed in the Lakeside Suite which first off, the resort also offers condo purchases there as well (so if you're looking for a place up north check it out), and it is absolutely beautiful! You are literally on the shores of Lake Superior! As I was saying, the Lakeside Suite included a king size pillow-top bed, breakfast nook, patio, jet tub right next to your bed (which was absolutely divine!), a mini kitchen that included granite countertop, sink, microwave, wine cooler, toaster, and kitchen accessories for two. And the best part was the view of Lake Superior. You can just walk out and sit in the patio or on the rocks and just watch the beauty of nature! What a way to relax! Oh, you get free underground parking as well, and the staff is quite friendly! Free breakfast too! If you are looking to go in a larger group, they do have connecting rooms and full kitchens for those who want to vacation together. So, there's definitely something for everyone! read more

Recently stayed here over Labor Day 2012. First time. Excellent experience--everyone we interacted with was very nice/pleasant/helpful/etc from the front desk to the maintenance/groundskeeper guy. Stayed in 2 different rooms. First room (Deluxe guest room) was nice. Not very big but had a larger bathroom and a medium sized balcony that faced the lake. Even though the balcony was advertised as a "private" balcony, it was actually shared with the room next door (there was a partition--meaning you could hear the neighbors talking/watching TV/etc when you were sitting on the balcony). The 2nd room (One Bedroom Penthouse Suite) was great! HUGE area, including a bedroom, jacuzzi, living room (with a full sized table). Also a LARGE, private balcony (essentially rooftop) facing Lake Superior. Rates include a continental breakfast each morning (decent spread), free paper (choice of USA Today or Star Tribune or both), heated, underground parking, bikes and/or kayaks and S'MORES!! That's right...tell the front desk you've got a sweet tooth and they provide you with all the supplies to make S'mores. The only downside to them...a gas fire pit. They still tasted excellent! Location was also great--literally steps from the Lake Walk (paved walking/biking trail that brings you right down to Canal Park). I would definitely return and have already recommended it to friends and family. read more

All sorts of amenities to like: Free breakfast, an indoor lounge area with games, pool, bicycles that guests can borrow, outdoor firepit & conversation area, spectacular view, free WiFi, adjacent to popular biking/walking path that follows the shoreline. Staff was very kind about letting us park our bags behind the desk when we had to check out hours before needing to report to the airport. Very pleased to have a kitchenette and fridge. Thanks to the glassware, my family could easily enjoy a bottle of wine around the firepit. I was happy to find a hair dryer in the bathroom vanity. The shower stall has a molded seat, an excellent accommodation for guests with mobility issues. The resort did its best to make good use of a narrow strip of land between the lakeshore and an elevated highway. Half the rooms have a lovely view of a raked concrete retaining wall. When I studied the location on Google maps, it appeared that there was a direct connection from the hotel to the mainland, so to speak, under this elevated highway. This is not the case. The only way in and out is a hairpin-turn access road that rises to meet the elevated highway. It has a sidewalk but functionally, the site ranks poorly for walkable access to shops & services on the other side of the highway. Cars shoot past you at highway speeds, with no buffer zone between sidewalk and traffic. There is no way my elderly mother, who prides herself on her walking stamina, could negotiate the length or slope of this access road in the summer heat. So we had to use Lyft to get to the bagel place 1/4 mile away on the other side of the highway. Another oddity: the architects seem allergic to closets. We had no closet in our room, only a wall rack with 5 coathooks and one 6" drop-down hanger rack, stocked with a few wooden hangers. Which means that your wet outerwear or swimsuit may drip on your dry garments, unless you drape your wet clothes over the chairs, which probably isn't good for the chairs. Our cousin's room did have a closet but it had no closet rod. Our bathroom had no towel rods, an even stranger choice in a business where they ask you to hang up damp towels to signify to the housekeeping staff that you do not need fresh towels. Maybe you are supposed to hang them over the wet shower curtain so that neither will air dry? This kind of overhead reach is not an option for wheelchair users. I would definitely stay here again, but I would also make sure that the room has a functional closet and towel rods in the bathroom. read more

We stayed here during Grandma's Marathon this year and it as a great experience. We rented one of the three-room condos, and the accommodations were perfect for a group of folks needing to wake up super early in the morning and head out. The Beacon Pointe is located on the edge of Lake Superior and we would have had a great view, if the fog would have lifted at any point throughout the weekend. With eight people sharing the space, we were a little concerned about being cramped before we arrived, but the condo was spread out on two different levels, with lots of little spaces within the space to hangout, whether in one of the bedrooms, the commons spaces, or the balconies. With three bathrooms, there was plenty of space for us to all shower or take ice baths after the marathon. The continental breakfast was great. They even accommodated the marathon by starting breakfast at 4:30 in the morning on the day of the race. Even better, the hotel is about a block and a half from one of the marathon pick-up locations, so we could easily walk there and back home. I would definitely stay here again. Although it's a bit more expensive than I would pay for a hotel room most days, the flexibility with cooking and the great spaces this offered makes it great for group situations. read more

Very nice hotel/resort. Clean rooms, great views of the lake, right by downtown so can walk anywhere you want to go, or right off the freeway to drive to more distant locales, indoor heated parking garage (but limited space). Check in was efficient and staff have great information on hotel details and tips for local fun. Overall a great place and a great stay. Only downsides were the Wi-Fi didn't work at all and noise from neighbors. Can see the connection but we tried several devices and none were able to connect..."cannot obtain IP address" error. Called the front desk and they said they'd look into it and call back. No call back, and no WiFi for the entire weekend. As for noise, not the hotels fault, just some drunk idiots next door. Overall a 4-5 star place with good amenities, great views, and great location. read more

After searching in vain for just the right kind of room on a billion travel sites, I came across Beacon Pointe as a 5-star rated hotel on Yelp! Thanks, Yelpers, this was the BEST place. For as much as we would pay for a street-view room somewhere along Canal Park, we got a beautiful room (the "Lakeside Suite") with a jacuzzi and a private porch a stone's throw from the lake. Gorgeous views of Duluth as well, since we're a bit further up the shore. Great service, free wifi, tasty free breakfast in the morning, pool, hot tub, heated underground parking, and small fridges and microwaves in the room so we could keep the growler from Fitger's cold. This was the perfect, perfect find for a night up in Duluth, though I'd definitely consider it for a longer stay as well. Will be back for sure! read more

On our latest visit to Duluth we were lucky to stay at Beacon Pointe. My husband's dad owns a timeshare here, so we had a great, two room suite with a kitchen. Beacon Pointe has a great location right on Lake Superior. It's not in downtown Duluth, which is nice because it's a little quieter. They are really close to the walking path, so it's just a short walk along the Lake to get to downtown. The views from Beacon Pointe are stunning. Our suite had two balconies, both overlooking the lake. When we arrived, we were welcomed with a bag of gourmet popcorn. Every night, they have a small bonfire with smores from 7-9pm. They also offer kayaking with a guide if you give 24 hours notice. read more

Could not have been more impressed or pleased with our stay here for a night in Duluth. Our room was perfect for us, and we loved being able to just sit out on our private patio overlooking the lake, or walk a bit further down to the awesome Adirondacks on the lawn. Beacon Pointe has absolutely stunning views and it is located in the perfect spot to enjoy Duluth. It is an easy walk to and from Fitger's for dinner along the lakeshore path from Beacon Pointe - highly recommend this for some great views along the way. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip - hopefully for longer next time! read more

Gorgeous view, that's what you pay for. The continental breakfast is nothing super special, but nice to have. The pool is nice and quiet. Housekeeping is AWFUL. We found three empty bottles of booze under our bed and anything low has not been vacuumed in years. Disgusting! Really makes me wonder what else they skip over. At the price, I expect it to be much more kept up. Love the underground parking! Love the location. Love the unique environment. Staff was kids. They didn't really feel welcoming. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I made a reservation at Beacon Pointe Resort because I thought I was going to be in Duluth four weeks later. I cancelled a few days later as plans changed and to my surprise I was charged a $50 "booking" fee even though I cancelled 3 weeks in advance (Dec 12th for a Jan 4th reservation). I travel often and I cannot think of any other hotel chain that does this. Worse yet, I was never informed about this policy when I made the reservation. "Booking fee"??? what is that, $50 to push a button on the computer? What a joke! When I complained the manager, he told me "the policy is on your receipt". I have to admit, it is on my receipt, but IT'S NOW TOO LATE, I have already paid. When I brought this up he said "the policy is on our website." Again I have to admit, it is but he had to guide me where to find it. When I informed the manager that I would write a review he came back with "That's against policy". LOL. What a joke! Beware of this place, anything for a buck (or 50) and they obviously do not care about customer service or bringing in new customers. I visit Duluth often, it's a great city but I will stay away from this place like the plague. It gives the great city of Duluth a bad name! read more

I have stayed at Beacon Point twice now on a mommy vacation. I love it. The location is great, feels safe and secluded, while having a spectacular view. Service is excellent, so helpful and kind. The kitchenette works well, although tiny. The jacuzzi tub does take a very long time to fill, but it's well worth the wait. The latest time I was there was in May and the only issue I found was the jacuzzi in the room above mine was leaking--staff addressed quickly. I avoid staying weekends when I have these types of vacations to avoid crowds. The hotel was quiet and peaceful for me both times I stayed. I will definitely return!! read more

We recently rented a 4 BR Penthouse. We could not have been more satisfied. The view is beautiful and the location is great. The towels looked like they were new. Hats off to housekeeping. Everything was spotless. The staff did everything possible to make our stay a great one. All of the extras were much appreciated - popcorn, s'mores, coffee, underground parking and champagne. The only problem that we had was getting our gas fireplace to turn on. After calling the front desk, someone came up within minutes and solved the problem. I stayed in a lakeside one bedroom. It was on the ground floor near the end of the resort in mid-March during the week. It was perfect. If you want bells and whistles of room service, cable movie channels or be able to shop right across the street stay in Canal Park. If you want to experience the true beauty and life of Lake Superior, stay here. I turned on my television only at night to watch the local news and weather and once to watch a DVD (The Great Outdoors with John Candy) that I picked out from the good sized movie library the resort has. (There are DVD players in the rooms.) I was given the name of the massage therapist that works with the resort to do in-room massages; he's amazing!! The view is unbeatable. The staff are sooooo helpful! (Paige was always willing to help me out with anything.) The continental breakfast is small but it does the job. The beds and bedding are very comfortable. I extended my stay while I was there and tried to extend it again but unfortunately the room was already booked. I cannot wait to go back!!! This place is the perfect place for a getaway. It's far enough away from all the chaos of Canal Park, but close enough to still take a short walk (or drive) to join in. STAY HERE!!! read more

Clean & nice 20" walk on the lake walk to fitgers - lovely view of the lake. Nice to have a frig & some dishes if a person is staying more than one night, we just stayed one night. I found this on a Groupon so thought we'd try it out. I liked being away from downtown & yet as I mentioned nice walk to canal. The pool looked small but decent. read more
