I would give more stars if I could. Went in Saturday morning and left with a new radiator half the cost of a local auto shop. I knew I had a leak and put in leak stop until I could get it fixed. Friday night my car wouldn't accelerate on the highway so I had to limp into Bob's which is close to home. Gary explained a few things about the radiator and few hours later my car runs like a charm. i don't recommend this shop, the old man bob did a horrible job on my tacoma's radiator. the radiator he installed stared to smell like radiator fluid and after 20 minutes vapors would come out my AC vents! My husband's car broke down and a mechanic told him he needed a new radiator. That mechanic told him to go get a new radiator, thermostat, blah, blah, a bunch of pieces and bring them back to him to install the new radiator. My husband remembered seeing Bob's one time and asked me to call them. They were really nice on the phone, and could take our car immediately, so we dropped it off. When we couldn't get there by closing time, they locked it in their service bay over night and didn't charge anything extra for that. The work is all done very professionally, everyone had such a great attitude, and since we needed some repair to the transmission caused by the radiator leak, they even recommended a nearby business to help us out. Hey, we appreciated the fact that the work was done quickly and efficiently, and at about half of what the other guy had estimated for us --when we would have had to buy all of the parts ourselves! I'M ABOUT TO TELL YOU OF THE GREATEST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD WITH A MECHANIC IN MY LIFE. Let me repeat this: I'm about to tell you of the greatest experience I've ever had with a mechanic in my life (I'm 48, by the way!). I bought a used '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee a couple of days ago. As soon as I got the thing, it started overheating (the needle was past 3/4). When I tried driving it up the mountain to Crestline, it started to REALLY overheat. I rolled it down to Bob's off of 3rd and Waterman. I got there a bit late, so he asked if I could leave the car there, and he'd get on it the next day. No problem. So he fixed it the next day. I started up the hill, but this time THE FUEL PUMP GAVE WAY (Yeah, I bought a clunker...They saw me comin'). Well, now I turned it around and went to this other place (who's name I won't even mention since their service is so bad...ENOTSERIF!), and again, it was so late that I left it there overnight. Well, they said they test drove it up the hill a bit, and it ran fine. I got a ride down the mountain to pick her up after they replaced the pump. Sure enough, I got rolling up the hill, and again it overheated!!!! It was around 4:30 p.m. Coolant was running out, and the engine was steaming. I coasted down again. Who do I call? The shoddy crappy people (they've messed up before, but I was forced to go to them because nowhere else was open) who last touched the car, or Gary at Bob's Radiator? Since it was a cooling problem, I called Gary. It was maybe 4:55. Gary VOLUNTEERED to come to the stalled car! HE WAS ABOUT TO CLOSE UP AND GO HOME! Did you read what I just wrote? Let me magnify this act of professional kindness: The OWNER of a family business drove on his OWN TIME, and literally got under the car THAT WAS STALLED AND PARKED ALONG THE CURB, AND FIXED IT. Now, he was too professional to say this, but I know damn well that the clods at the other place messed around with what they shouldn't have (they've done it before on another car I took to them out of last-resort). It ended up that the bottom hose on the radiator LITERALLY POPPED OFF!! Gary got right under that Cherokee, and within 10-15 minutes, put it back on. Sure enough, when i rolled up the hill? The needle was barely past 1/4!!!! I will never go anywhere else when I have a radiator problem. I honestly suggest that if you live within 30 miles of Bob's, that you make the trip. He's honest, professional, kind, and knows what he's doing. There's a reason why this place is going on its 3rd generation of family ownership. If you choose to follow my advice, then you'll be dealing with one of the best, fairest, kindest, honest mechanics in your lifetime! read more

Brought in a radiator for a 1987 Mitsubishi Montero to be redone. Had to bring it back 5 times because it leaked. This means that I had to remove and install the radiator 5 times just to keep having it leak. Took it to another radiator shop and when they took it apart they discovered the bottom tank was never removed and had years of rust and crud in it. While all of this was going on, I brought in a motorcycle radiator to have a leak fixed. When I got home I discovered all they did was JB weld the leak. I could have done that. But I paid to have it repaired and soldered. I won't use Bob's radiator again nor would I ever recommend them. read more

The mechanic who answered the phone, I think his name is 'Jerry', was very patient with my description of the radiator problem. He ended up putting in a new radiator with new hoses, clamps and cap for about $300.00 for my mom on her '92 Protege. He also conducted a series of tests of the cooling system after the new equipment was installed. I feel confident that he will stand behind his work. My mom's pleased to be on the road again, and I highly recommend this shop for any overheating/radiator problems or issues. Give him a call if you do have any of those problems. I took my Ford F150 to Bob's Radiator Service in San Bernardino, CA. It was leaking water from the right passenger side for about 4 days.
