I first meet Bill immediately after I was hit by a drunk driver. He help get me back home once the vehicle was disabled by the hit. Two years or more later I needed a water pump and alternator. All I will say is this shop takes me back to how business should run even being a mom and pop place. I recommend this place on so many levels I can't put it all in this review. This place is legit. I brought in my 2015 Honda pilot for a rattling noise. Bill found an oil leak and diagnosed the rattle as a broken Catalytic converter. When I came in to pick up the car he had the old part at the door to show me that it was broken. When he shook the broken part it made the same rattling noise the car had been making. The catalytic converter had actually broken apart from the inside. I can't believe how quickly he did the repairs. I will be bringing my car back here for scheduled maintenance and future repairs. I had heard good things about Red Top from my CSUSB colleagues. My mother's 2004 Honda Civic needed a fuel pump assembly. She lives in the High Desert. The Honda dealer told us it would take six months to get the part. I spoke with Bill at Red Top Automotive, and he was able to obtain a compatible fuel pump in one day. He communicated with me often, and he took great care to ensure the installation went perfectly. He even re-inspected the vehicle one day after he installed it to make sure there were no gas leaks. I felt that the price was very fair, and the work was of the highest quality. This business is run ethically and professionally. I highly recommend them and will take my own car there in the future. I was referred to Red Top from a work colleague. I read the Yelp reviews and very cynically thought these can't be right. Every place has at least one complaint even if it's something dumb like the folks that call after hours then complain no one was available. I decided to go anyway and uhm. Yeah. The reviews are legit. This is a great mechanic!! Took in my 2004 Ford. Worried it was something big. It wasn't. It needed a new battery. It was easily replaced. He also aired up my tires, checked my fluids, replaced my wipers and buffed out a scratch or two. Has my convertible riding and looking great!! read more

Bill runs a tip-top shop... my Dad was one of his first customers over 30 years ago, and my sister and I have been using them for nearly 20 years ourselves. A wonderful place (helps that we live around the corner :-) . ) They do great work and will let you know if there is a pending issue they saw, instead of letting you drive off and wait for you to have it fail. San Bernardino county red top auto service is a gem hidden in San Bernardino when it comes to auto mechanics! I was having alternator problems and like everybody else was shopping around before I decided on a place to take it I called this place to get a Estimate and when I first heard the estimate I thought it was kind of pricey but when I was shopping around and I called all the local shops with in the 5 to 10 mile radius he offered me the best deal and it came with a two-year warranty no other mechanic place around here is offering the price he was willing to do it for and willing to give me a two year warranty on my alternator when I say this place is a gem ! I mean every word! I I sent my car and got it back the same day and was able to make it to work , professional mechanic doing honest work something that you don't find anymore I highly recommend if you have any mechanical problems with your car to take it here you will not be disappointed. Outstanding service! I came in experiencing smoke from the hood of my 06 Impreza. In the office I spoke with Joan, who despite having a fully booked schedule accompanied me to my car to take a look under my hood; she then promptly asked Bill for his opinion despite him already being busy with another customers car. He diagnosed my problem right away as a cracked radiator. Joan happily assisted me with a very spot on estimate to my labor. Joan let me know that the calendar was full but they would try their best to get my car finished by the end of their work day (5:30) as I do live in Lake Arrowhead, around 20 miles away and up a mountain. I took myself to a local coffee shop to wait and called around 3:00p and Joan informed me that my car was being worked on currently. I arrived back at the shop around 5.00 and my vehicle was ready and waiting for me! Bill did let me know what caused my problem, a fan not being plugged in! He also made sure to do a test drive to ensure the new part was working correctly. All in all my experience was great; from the kind owners to the accurate pricing. this is a real mechanic.. brought car in for a intermediate problem with starting, meaning it sometimes wouldnt start... left the car there , had it for awhile, when i finally picked it up, he charged me 90.00 if you want an honest mechanic... he is the definition of it.. won't charge you for things you dont need.. he spent alot of time on my truck... read more
