As a rule, fair service, but today as I passed by there was a homeless man with missing fingers, possibly a deformity or previous accident and a recent injury because he fell off his bicycle in front of Bob's. He was almost to the middle of the road on Rio Lindo. I am handicapped myself, so I pulled into Bob's and asked if they could please help this man. They told me they were busy and to move my car because another customer needed to move. I left my car running and hobbled out to help this young man. He had groceries that obviously came out of the trash. I got a bag from my car and helped him myself. My sister said one of the men who worked at Bob's called me an "asshole". The young man who fell was struggling to get up and not one of these 4 employees who saw him tried to help him. I did go into the business and told them they should all be ashamed of themselves. I wonder if they would treat a fellow human being this way, how well do they care for our cars. I will never go back, and I will encourage others not to go back. What has happened that people won't help others in need. Why wouldn't someone take a minute to help him, at least help him out of the middle of the road in front of their business. I popped by Bob's to get a slow tire leak repaired. Not only did they have it fixed in less then 10-minutes, they didn't even charge me. They did the job and when I reached for my wallet he said ,"don't worry about it, we got you." This day and age that's unheard of. Blew my mind. Note that they have a very matter of fact approach. I went in to get my tires rotated and balanced. They said they never balanced the rear wheels only the fronts. When I said I was going elsewhere the manager quickly changed his mind and said they would balance all four wheels. When I was sitting in the waiting room watching this young guy in a T-shirt and tennis shoes try balance my wheels I knew something was wrong. He kept raising his hands and shaking his head in frustration, obviously not knowing how to do the job. Finally, another guy came over and helped him with it. I watched him use the air impact wrench to tighten all my lug nuts, and I knew I was in trouble. When I got home, they were so tight, I could barely get them loose with a 3 foot long cheater bar. One lug nut was stripped. . I am never going back. What a pain in the neck. my Honda lug nuts were all damaged from over torquing. I had to spend $58 to get new lug nuts and do the repair myself. Got some tires here as well as an alignment. First red flag was when someone went to move my truck in to the shop (wearing just basketball shorts and a t shirt), and roasted my clutch repeatedly (truck is a 6 speed and he must have thought 6th gear was reverse). Now I have to go to another shop to get my clutch inspected and diagnosed as it's been making noise and not been the same since. Once they put on the tires I get home and realize they had snapped a stud and just let me leave without saying anything. When I came back, they had the lug nut...so obviously they knew they had snapped it but failed to mention anything to me. The only reason they deserve one star at all is because they did do an alignment after snapping the stud off and failing to mention anything. I try to support local business and not the "big guys" when I can, but after destroying my clutch and snapping a wheel stud I'd highly suggest going elsewhere. read more

This never happened in the Bay Area I moved from. The low tire icon kept coming on even though all tires checked out fine. Only at Bob's did the mechanic know how to turn the icon off. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE A WOMAN. I cannot believe there are still mechanics here in town who overcharge you for services that your car does not need. Came here for service on my car due to the drivers sides suspension kept making a clunking sound every time I was to press my brakes. Got the car inspected TWICE and was told the issue was the motor mount. I paid almost $500 for the service that they "fixed". I got the car the following day expecting for the issue to be resolved, after I drove my car the clunking sound still continued. I returned the car and said the issue wasn't resolved, they rechecked my car and then said that the clunking sound was now coming from the other wheels support (it wasn't it was still coming from the same wheel that they supposedly fixed). Due to the unresolved issue that they were supposed to fix in the first place they did not want to give me my money back, my car continued to make the clunking sound and they did not resolve the issue I first brought it in for. I went to another mechanic and showed them everything and they pin pointed the exact issue that was wrong which were the stabilizer bar links NOT the motor mounts or the subframe. They told us none of that were the main issues it was just the stabilizer bar links! I am highly disappointed with this mechanic robbing me of my money for not even fixing what I came here for in the first place. read more

Well where do I start....went in for an alignment and left ball joint replacement, left with body damage to my truck. First red flag, when I dropped my vehicle off they didn't even ask for my contact information- the repairs where done in the time frame they specified but when I came to pick up I was told I need a new battery....um no. Long story short I contacted to BAR who came out and interviewed me and ultimately they was fined...had to file an insurance claim for the damage and they had to pay me $500. read more

So so so great! I had what I thought was a small leak in my tire. Stopped in and they popped it right off and submerged it. Turns out it was a wear spot or weak point on my rim... not cracked, just a little pin hole in the metal. Anyway, they marked it on the rim and recommended a couple quick fixes im looking into but were so nice and wouldn't take any payment. They treated my mom really well a few years back when she got a flat right down the road too. Really great to have such fantastic customer service these days! read more

My 75 year old mother went to Bob's because there was a noise coming from her brakes. Turns out it was dust or grime that was making the sound, and the folks at Bob's removed all 4 wheels and cleaned the brakes. Then they didn't charge her for it! My parents battery went dead at the nearby VA hospital. My Mom and Dad dropped by on foot to see if their staff could help. They dropped what they were doing and came to the rescue, driving my Dad to jump the truck then bringing them back for a replacement battery. They didn't even charge for labor. I came in last week for an oil change.. the Service here is amazing the one person who stood out to me the most was Berto!!! Wow he sure knows his stuff!! he was able to inform about my oil change and told me that I'll soon need some tires and gave me a few quotes. While I waited for my car I saw how hard working and efficiently he is from changing tires to cleaning his area and helping customers with any questions they had. Moves very Quick!!! This review is for the mechanic now working at Bob's tire center. My acura's power steering rack went out, bad, both end seals were leaking profusely. Got a quote from all local mechanics, average cost was 1200-1400. ouch!! Well, the mechanic at bob's has 23 years of shop experience, so I went with him. The PS replacement for honda/acura is not easy, but the work was done fast and correctly. at a cost of 1/3 the price of everyone else. Cant dispute 23 years of experience. He's good, try him out, before he gets well known and can charge more. read more

Wish I would have went here first for my alignment. They definitely did an alignment (unlike my precious alignment less than a week prior at another shop) and gave me a detailed paper showing exactly what was done. My car drives noticeably better and I thank them for that. Love that they said they will treat me like a customer and not just a girl because a lot of car shops try to get over on women. I came in randomly and instead of making me schedule an appointment and come back they made time for my car and worked on it quickly. Ok so the tire centers in Corning and red bluff are good and I guess I expected the same in Chico. Well it's not!! My friend had to stop to get some work done and I got to see first hand how Luis (the manager) is very incompetent, doesn't have any knowledge and was generally very unhelpful! He didn't really pay attention to us and it makes me wonder if it's cause we are women (you know how some men think women don't know anything about cars) but I will give a shout out to the guys that stepped up to answer our questions. So I am fairly new to the area. I've been in living in the area for about 2 years now and needed a shop that can do a better job than Sears and Walmart. A few friends and family recommended me to try this place out. For the last three wheel mounting and balancing, I have gone to this shop. They were great! Fast and friendly services. Last week I bought some new tires from an online store and went in for the usual tire mounting and wheel balancing. Alignment was recommended so I decided to try their alignment service. After the alignment, I drove the truck home and it was pulling to the right. The alignment was way off. So i called them to get the alignment redone. They told me alignment is by appointment only so I scheduled one. I went in and they told me the guy who does the alignment wont make it; I had to schedule another appointment which is today. I left work early and went straight to their shop. The person the does the alignment showed up this time. I was relieved as I have been driving my only means of transportation to work for a few days with the alignment off. I was so afraid that my new tires would be ruined with such bad alignment, but then again, I had no choice. At first the person that did the alignment used the equipment necessary to do the alignment properly. However, he got frustrated since it was still tracking to the right upon test driving. When he got back from the first test drive, he decided to take off the equipment and laser to do the alignment properly and just do the alignment with his naked eyes plus test driving until he got it correct. He test drove the truck 3 more times and try to fix the alignment this way. I started to get worried as the more times he had to re-tune it, the harder he pressed on my gas pedal. I ask him what is going on and why is he not using his equipment. He then told me that he needed to aligned my steering wheels since they were not straight. He was trying to align my steering wheel by tuning the inner and outer tie rod. This was when I finally realized that this person does not have a clue as to what he is doing. I was not going to explain or try to explain to him how he can try fixed my alignment with his naked eyes and without the proper equipment since I can already do this myself and didn't want to be rude.... I took the truck in because I need it to spec. For F@@@sake, everything on my truck is stock.... I have fairly new inner and outer tie rods with new upper and lower ball joints, fairly new shocks and coils. The old tires had no problem with alignment before this guy worked on my truck.......So in the end, I decided since he can't get the alignment to spec or near spec and since he has no clue what he is doing I needed to get refunded. I asked for a refund. This person refused. He said he has already done work on my truck so he needs to get paid. We debated for a few minutes with me just asking for a refund. They finally gave up and decided to write me a check for the full portion of what I paid, 59 dollars. Another person that works there, told the alignment guy to just leave things as they are since I am asking for a refund. However they guy that did the alignment as not tighten the nuts on the inner tie rod. I didn't have any tools on me so I asked him to tighten it for safety reasons. He refused and said I've already asked for my refund so he wont touch anything anymore. I asked him again since its a safety issue. He refused completely. So my last words was "Fine, if anything should happen as I drive home then you will be held reliable." He still didn't care. I live in Durham which is 10 miles away from bob's tire so I decided to drive to my old apartment nearby and waited for my brother to bring some wrench so that i can tighten the nuts. I knew if I didn't tighten these nuts I can be in serious trouble since I will need to drive down the highway at high speed to home. *sigh* My brother arrived, I tighten up the nuts, and finally arrived home after a long hot day at work, at bob's tire, and in the heat waiting for my brother. From this experience, I felt horrible recommending this place to a few friends and family members. Now I know to avoid this place. When the job is easy, they can do it fairly quick and simple. However, when it comes to the more major services you might want to think twice before using their service. I will no longer be going to this place for the incompetent alignment service (and maybe more) and also for the customer service of when something does go wrong or not as planned. BEWARE THEIR FREE ALIGNMENT ADVERTISEMENT. Now I understand why they are able to provide their so called free alignment. Services can be free all they want, if you cannot get it done correctly don't even offer it or mention it. If you made it this far in my review and still decide to use their alignment service, Good LUCK! You might need it. Unless it was just my experience. Me, my friends, and family members will steer clear now. read more

I work at a local lube shop and I always recommend these guys for tire/suspension shit. They are super cool, about 30 bucks for an alignment and they have a bunch of used tires for hella cheap. If u take ur shit to get balanced, aligned, rotated or whatever you can sit in there chill ass little lobby that feels like a living room, flip through the channels on the tv read a magazine and watch them do all the work on ur car. conveniently located right off the esplanade. read more
