I had them look at my coolant just in case I wasn't seeing something correctly (I wasn't educated about my car at the time) so I had them check my coolant, I was in college at the time so I had to drive to school after this. Mind you, they closed it for me and I wasn't watching when I should have been. They did not close my coolant cap all the way, and my coolant poured and spewed all over my engine and out of my car the second I got to school. My car continuously kept smoking because of it and I wasted brand new coolant that I bought prior to going there to have them check it. This was a few months back, and I was also told by somebody else that they treat their workers terribly with poor pay. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, they even tried upselling me telling me my brake booster was going out when it in fact, was not. Have used them before without issue but today seems to be different, hope this isn't the new normal. 8:30 appointment for 2 trailer tires. After 1 hour 45 minutes I'm still here waiting. While waiting I have had multiple people come in after me without appointment and leave with their service done. Sounds like they are busy today, but with an appointment I would have thought that my job came as priority over drop ins, guess I was wrong. Finally just left after two hours. I came in for tires told me my cabin and engine filter needed to be replaced. Told them I just changed the cabin air filter myself and then I would have to see that before agreeing. A technician went and fumbled in my glove box and then closed it without showing me and said it's fine, just had leaves in it... I asked if it was dirty he said no. I then expressed my dissatisfaction with them asking me to replace things that don't need to be replaced. I get it though this is what shops do on the small scale And they gave me a quote of things that need to be fixed with my vehicle a family member said they wanted to gift me having my tire rods replaced... But had me go to another shop for a second opinion. The other shop, Les Schwab not only quoted a lower price but let me know that I do not need to have my tire rods changed anytime soon. I told the people at big O others try to take advantage of me all the time and please not do that. Yet here we are again with another shop trying to make money off me. This place is great! A couple years ago, my local mechanic was regularly too booked up for me to get my new battery installed. I normally wouldn't go to a Big O Tires for that type of thing, but this location had been super sweet, competent, and affordable when my partner needed new tires, and they quoted me an amazing price to put that battery in, so I had it done there. Now, if they offer a service I need done on my car, I go to them without hesitation. Oil change, struts, brakes, you name it. The whole team is fantastic, but I definitely need to throw a shout out to Josh, who has been my main point of contact from the get-go. He's super courteous, and manages to go above and beyond to get my vehicle in when I need it. I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

This location is amazing. I tried one closer to my house and the customer service was awful- and told me they didn't have time when they were still hours from closing and one vehicle on the lift. I was told to just show up as they don't take appointments. I needed to get my new tires mounted, balanced, and an alignment done so I called this store & Janna was so sweet and helpful. She gave me a timeframe to arrive, and let me know they could take me. Josh made me aware there was a possibility my new tires may not work, but they would test fit one to be sure. I appreciate the honesty and trying to get the job done but ensuring I was safe on the road. The tires do fit and my truck looks great with new shoes and feels better with the alignment. I moved here a year ago from a colder climate and been having tire pressure issues on both my cars. I lived by this location so I been coming here. They always fix my tires with no problem, never hassle me to buy new tires and give me great services. One time they saved my butt, I came on a busy HOT Friday afternoon, an hr before closing bc my pressure was off. The guy that helped me was Jacob, he told me there's a nail in it. I was leaving for Disneyland the next day and he fit me in even with a full load of work still. I was so grateful for his help, he told his guys to get it done and I was out within 30 mins. Their inventory is correct when I called they said they had my tires stock and was able to provide the tires I needed for my car. I needed tires. So I ask a friend. She said, her whole family goes to Big O on the Esplanade because they have the best prices and good customer service. So not listening to my friend I spent a few hours researching tires in Chico. It always came back to Big O. So I scheduled an appointment for Saturday at 9am. I shortly got a call from the store telling my they had turned down my appointment request. They didn't have the tire I wanted. So the person on the phone and I talked about other options and the appointment was back on. He had another set of tires that seemed an even better choice at the price. I arrived at the store 15 minutes early. A person whose name i think was Jacob greeted me. We went over the estimate and I took a seat since I was waiting there for the tires to be changed. I didn't mind waiting because Jacob and the other guy at the front were friendly and fun to chat with. In less than an hour Jacob told be my car was ready. Wow that was fast. The price for 4 tires all in was 600.00. That was better than I was expecting. The staff is friendly and professional The staff is quick The prices are great. CONCLUSION: My friend was right. I came in for the free brake inspection knowing it was near time to replace the pads on my truck. They confirmed what was needed and made time to replace all my brake pads along with my headlight bulbs which I also had them replace. They provided me great service at a fair price. Josh and Jana. When they drove my car inside the tire shop to install the tires they broke my car's key fob I noticed there was a crack on my key fob right after the installation process was done and they refused to take responsibility, by the time I drove home my whole key fell apart because of the huge crack on the bottom of my key fob! read more

I could write at least 10 paragraphs on how my 3 experiences went with these guys, but I'll keep it short The work they perform is fine- let's get that out of the way. What they're gonna do is try and spook you (or your wife) into repairs you don't need... replace tires that are just fine... brake pads that have plenty of life, and rotors that are just fine. I know this because I got a second AND third opinion after I got their estimate. There's also some next level swindler tactics that I experienced that border on extortion, but I'm gonna keep that in my back pocket for now. Go support one of the independent shops in Chico. When I showed up for my appointment I was greeted by Josh who was friendly and polite while he checked me in. Big O Tires saved the day! So I was in Chico from Bay Area and waiting for my parent @ Enloe for a surgery & when I went to my car to put my sweater in a kind stranger told me I had a flat tire! Long story short : my mom was "waking up" & going to recovery soon & I neeeded to get her home, so...engineering @ hospital put air in to "get me by" thank you & info lady called big 0 bekniwnst to me & she told me they said to head on over & they'd take care of me. When I got there , wasn't far thank goodness, Jana helped me right away, &was very kind . I was a bundle of nerves whilst waiting as they were pretty busy.. about 30ish min later she came over handed my keys, to which I replied "oh did they figure it out & she said yes there was a small nail in it & they repaired it. I have debated leaving this review, as I don't like to speak poorly of anybody's business. It should be noted that I had a bad experience over the Summer, and staff or atmosphere could have changed since. It also could have been an isolated experience. As a woman, I would recommend that anybody who doesn't know much about cars, go elsewhere. My car was there for hours for new tires. When I got an update from staff, it was to tell me that a part was missing from my car and that it was needed to complete an alignment which they told me I needed to get to maintain the warranty on my tires. (The new part and alignment was an extra $200+ on top of the new tires) When I politely but firmly said no, I just wanted the tires, the staff member became irritated and I had to say no a second time. When I picked up my car, a different staff member brought up the repair again, said they were not trying to do repairs I didn't need, and was also forceful, irritable and verging on rude. I had to say no again. In the future, I will not be coming back even for repairs that may or may not be covered under the additional warranty I purchased that. (I'm not sure It is even valid since I didn't get the alignment anyway). Looking myself, the part they identified does not seem to be missing. But beyond that, the forcefulness and irritation that resulted from being told a polite and clear "no" was concerning on a basic level. read more

If you decide to use Big-O, you do so at your own unjustified expense. I would not under any circumstances choose to use Big-O for anything. Here's why. My mom took her car into get serviced recently for rear rotors and pads. Cost: $448. When learning of the cost, I decided to look into the details of the invoice. Parts charges were $90 for pads; rotors: 2x $96.99 ($193.98). Total Parts charge: $283.97. They also performed a brake fluid flush (rear axle only I assume, though the invoice does not specify) which she cannot recall authorizing. I called to get an explanation of charges and to obtain specific part numbers. Oddly, the invoice does not specify this information and gives only generic internal coding for parts. I was told that they purchased the parts from AutoZone. Doing my research on this I found that they installed ceramic pads and rotors made by Duralast (2nd rate brand at best). These would have cost me $36 for the pads and $92 for BOTH rotors from AutoZone. Total AZ cost for parts $128+tax (recall they charged $283!!!). One would hardly be surprised to learn that Big-O receives a wholesale price on parts, but I did not confirm this, which would only make this more egregious. Keep in mind one could buy premium brand rotors and pads of MUCH higher quality for what AutoZone sells these for equal value or slightly more, let alone incurring a 120%+ markup from Big-O. Apparently, it's all about the bottoms line, not doing right by the customer. While I did find the in store representatives polite and forthcoming with information, they repeatedly tried to convince me that their prices were comparable to that of other shops in the area. In my mind, they did not satisfactorily address the logic of reselling products beyond 120% markup. For the record, I did check with my mechanic what their price for the same job, and it did come in higher than the $448 mark ($513- but also a higher cost area relative to Chico), but also used both ASE certified mechanics as well as Akebono rotors and pads. Further, my mechanic stated that their resale on these parts is actually LESS than the list price, meaning they pass along the discount they receive onto their customers. If you decide to use Big-O, you do so at your own unjustified expense. read more

I got a flat tire, so my husband and I decided we wanted to go ahead and get 4 new tires. The level of customer service we receive at Big O was amazing. Josh won my very skeptical husband over, so that right there says a lot. We found out they are a full service mechanic. The husband was talking about issues his truck was having, Josh actually got under my husband truck and took a quick look.. he didn't have to do that! I purchased a GroupOn for an oil change, at a great price. Excited. I left work early and arrived at Big O at 4:25PM. No other customers there. Perfect. I was greeted, and I inquired about a quick oil change. I was informed there was not enough time to change the oil. I was informed they require 40 minutes. How disappointing. Had a 8:15 appointment for oil change and tire rotation. As I was going in another customer also arrived. I held the door and let them in first. Josh ask him what he was here for (oil change) and could he leave car. Once guy said yes Josh went to computer to check appointments (I assume). Conversation was done at that point and I added while Josh was at computer "Checking in for 8:15 appointment". He looks up and screams "WAIT YOUR TURN CAN'T YOU SEE I'M HELPING SOMEONE"! He said it with a look of vile hatred and discuss. I was really stunned. I told the guy that was a walk-in he could have my appoint and left.
