I'm glad I can finally, more than 1 year after our first visit to Bob's, review a great local business that it is. Ultimately we've got three trees from Bob's, and even though two of the trees had issues, the staff have been understanding and reasonable in working with us for a resolution. Bob's has a big stock and variety of trees and plants of various sizes, and the tranquil location makes for a pleasant day trip for a walk amongst potted plants and dug-up trees ready to go. Their brochure is helpful for looking up and browsing an updated selection of available trees for listed prices, and staff have been consistently friendly and helpful, and not surprisingly, very knowledgeable. I would recommend Bob's Trees without hesitation, and I hope they stay open and successful for a very long time. read more

We tagged our Fraser Fir in October. Cut it down right after the first snowfall....we had to walk back to cut it down and carry it out (the road was closed due to the snow) we didn't mind, it's just perfect!! Wow!! So much fun - soooo many trees! Just walking around and looking at the creative ways people have "tagged" their Christmas tree is so much fun! Red solo cups, bows and ribbons, signs, red plastic plates and the list goes on. If you have never been here to get your tree you are really missing out!! We brought our own ribbon this year. They provide tags and yellow tape if you need it! So many different kids of trees to choose from. We cannot wait to go back and pick our tree up soon!! Give them a try, you will not regret it. All we asked was the difference between the Fraser fir and balsam tree. The owner Bob was quite gruff in telling us. Then proceeded to make a comment about someone going to college for 4 years and they can't tell the difference between the 2 trees. My opinion is he was quite rude and dampened our visit to his huge tree farm in Galway. Can't believe his comment! read more

We buy Christmas trees every year. We are a family of 5 and this year we went to bobs. My wife complains every year that our tree is too bear. Well not this year. This tree we got from bobs was about twelve feet tall and full as can be. Not only is the tree great but we paid a little less than the place we had been buying them. We all had a lot of fun finding the tree, cutting it, and carrying it to the truck. My family has been going to Bob's for 40 years. A family tradition that now sees several generations getting their Christmas tree here. We've always had a soft spot for Bob's - it's not the 'flashiest place' (when compared to Ellm's up the road) - but it generally has good trees, and is an affordable place to cut your own tree. After an experience this week, never again. After cutting down our tree, we drove down to pay for it. As it was a weekday, and quiet - we parked the car, and I walked around to find someone to pay. As I was walking down the road near the store, a worker appeared and said "you can pay here". I asked "Great - can I pay you now?" - They said "No, go back to your car and drive here to pay me." I replied, "Hmm, ok" - and he said "Well, I need to see the tree eventually anyways" - mind you, it was on my car 40 feet away, and clearly visible. I get back in the car, and drive up to pay him. We were all friendly the entire time. It seemed the worker was having a tough time reaching the tree on top of the van to put a tag on it. We then said "Oh, you can just hand us the tag if that's easier." This is where it gets absurd. The man then says, "No, that's not how I do things." We awkwardly laughed, because - what's this guy's problem? He then says "People are always telling me how to run my business - everyone thinks they know better. Unless it's in writing, I don't listen (or something like that...)" We played it off as if he was joking, but he clearly was not. We thanked him (for being rude, I guess), and left, wishing him a Merry Christmas - because, you know, we were previously in the Christmas spirit. Who's name was on the tag? Bob. As other reviews here and elsewhere indicate, he doesn't seem to treat his customers well. Here's some feedback in writing: 1) Fix your roads. They are mud pits. The fact you have no stones/gravel/etc on your dirt roads to the pick-you-own parking lots is absurd. 2) Put signs up. If you're supposed to pay someone at a certain point, but a sign up saying so. Forcing customers to wander around looking for a place to pay is absurd. 3) Hire someone that isn't a jerk. If Bob can't handle the public anymore, maybe it should be passed to the next generation. read more

We went to Bob's and cut down a balsam fir the day after they started selling Christmas trees this year. It's now been almost a month, and the tree is as beautiful as when we first got it. It hasn't dried out and hasn't been dropping needles. Looking forward to going back again next year. read more

I've been buying my tree here for years with nothing but great experiences. However, after this year, I am never going back. Bob himself helped us, and he was incredibly rude. We asked him to trim the trunk and he wouldn't, we asked him to net the tree before he put it on top of the car and he said "well you didn't ask me to do that". He then grumbled and groaned while he begrudgenly did so. I could go on and on about similar instances that occurred in the 20 minutes we were there. I should also mention that we were the only customers on the lot, so it was not like he was pressed for time. If he doesn't need the business, I'll take mine to someone who does. read more

We waited over an hour in the freezing cold way out in the cut your own area, I called they said he was on lunch and would be around. 30 min later were still waiting. This ruins the tradition. They really need someone going around with the tractor, this is rediculous. read more

I have a business in Florida where we sell Christmas trees from New York. I picked up trees last year from Bob's and brought them down in an enclosed trailer. We sold the trees when we arrived in Holiday Florida and every person who bought the trees all said they lasted well after New Years. They were in great shape. My family and I had been buying our Christmas trees and various landscaping plants at Bobs for years. When we decided we needed a big Canadian Hemlock tree to fill a space in our yard, Bob's seemed like the natural choice...we really were a fan! They even had a "guarantee" on their plants, if you paid the costs to use their installers. It was not cheap ($600+) to use their installers but we thought the guarantee was worth it for the peace of mind, so we took the plunge. Sadly, within two winters their Canadian tree didn't survive the cold (yeah, I know...seems ironic). I called to inquire about the guarantee. Unfortunately, it's only good for a year, and they told me I could take it up with the installer if I wished. I protested, particularly in light of the many other pieces of business I had given them over the years, and was told that someone from management would call me to discuss...which they never did despite multiple calls. This was so disappointing from a number of facets... - No consideration for the business we had done, nor what we had still intended to do (my suggestion of a partial credit toward future purchases was summarily dismissed) - I bought this tree from Bobs, not the installer. If you offer the service, follow through on the claims please. It should not be up to the customer to chase a claim down the liability chain. - I realize the guarantee was for one year, which had expired (recently...but expired nonetheless)...but that a Canadian evergreen tree could not make it through its second winter raises the question of what sort of quality to expect. - It also seems this limited guarantee would make them non-competitive with someone like Hewitts, who guarantees their trees for life. Unfortunately for me, in the end I ended up renting a tree for two seasons for $600. Unfortunately for Bobs, it will be the last dime I spend there, as the several landscaping projects I have planned will source plants from elsewhere. My advice: get your Christmas trees there if its convenient, but if you want anything that will be living beyond Jan 1, think twice...and beware the "guarantee". read more

This is a great place to get a Christmas tree, especially a larger tree. You have incredible selection and the prices cannot be beat. When I first moved back to the area we tried some other places, but they were either ridiculously expensive for an 8 foot plus tree, or had no selection to speak of. The warming hut has an impressive menu and always has warm beverages on cold days. The staff is helpful. You can find any variety and size tree you might want. Always fresh-cut. You can visit during the Fall to choose a live tree, mark it with ribbons and return after Thanksgiving to cut it down and bring it home. This was our first year with a christmas tree and i did a good amount of research before picking a "cut your own" tree farm. Bobs trees was everything the website described! They have tons and tons of trees plus a gift shop, refreshments, etc. You have a choice of cutting your own or purchasing a pre cut tree. 8' and under is $45 to cut and 9' and up is $55. They provide the saw and a map so you can find what type of tree you want. The choices are endless. We ended up cutting our own and found a gorgeous fraser fir. They bailed it and helped us tie it to our roof and we were on our way! FYI! Up top near most of the trees they accept cash only but at the bottom near the gift shop you can pay with card! We also purchased an outdoor flag and plan on coming back to look at ornaments We will definitely make a tradition of coming to Bobs for our christmas tree! read more
