This park truly had a glow-up -- and I mean a serious one…read more About a year ago, I wasn't the biggest fan of Patch Reef Park. The playground used to feel a bit unsafe, especially for younger kids. There were tall play structures (including a ship-style area) with spots lacking proper railings, and some slides ended too high off the ground, which made landings uncomfortable and even risky. The splash area was a fun idea, but the flooring was worn out, and the restrooms definitely needed an upgrade. Fast forward to now -- everything has changed. The renovation completely transformed this space into one of our favorite family spots, especially during hot Florida days. The playground is now fully enclosed with a fence and has a single entrance, which makes it much easier to keep an eye on kids The layout is circular, so visibility is great from almost any angle There's a shaded splash pad area (huge plus in the summer!) A separate, safe toddler zone -- thoughtfully designed and much more secure Soft ground (similar to artificial turf) -- very comfortable for kids The splash area has rubber flooring, and the play structures for older kids are still fun but noticeably safer now. There are also two swing areas and a basketball court. Small note: I personally think the basketball area should be fenced off -- balls can occasionally fly into the playground (we've experienced that ourselves). There are benches and picnic tables, but they fill up quickly on weekends. Pro tip: bring a picnic blanket and lunch -- it turns into the perfect cozy family setup. Other great features: * Clean, spacious restrooms (with very large changing stations) * Drinking water fountain * Easy parking * A cute little free book box -- bring a book, take a book * Walking trails with lots of greenery -- perfect for scooters and relaxed strolls One tiny aesthetic note -- some of the flooring colors (bright red/blue) feel a bit intense visually, but the green areas look beautiful and natural. Overall: an amazing upgrade. Safe, clean, well-designed, and very family-friendly. We come here often now, and the kids absolutely love it.

A huge new indoor Pickleball center is being constructed. They have a practice wall, which I absolutely love. I checked in at the pro shop and was assigned with my team three courts. They are beautifully maintained and in fabulous shape. There are lots of clean well stopped restrooms. There were benches, tables and water fountains on each court.

This is an awesome facility and I truly enjoy spending time there. There's something for everyone no matter what your fitness goals are-- during my time as a member I've gone from "taking a break" from working out and doing a lot of yoga/relaxing and now currently getting back into a bodybuilding program. The gym offers a variety of equipment and I never have to improvise due to lack of equipment. I might be staying the obvious here, but if you are into powerlifting, I would probably go elsewhere. The cardio machines are brand new and really nice. The actual place itself is very clean. I feel totally comfortable showering in the locker room and they have everything you need- towels, body wash, lotion, razors, etc. The outdoor pool is really pretty and nice to relax at after a workout. Staff is super nice and helpful. I have yet to buy any food from the cafe but it looks good. Definitely some good options if you're in a bind or spending a long time there. I will gladly pay the extra $ to train in a clean and peaceful gym.

During the conversation, she was told, "We don't honor that without an additional fee. Given your demographic, it looks like you can't afford that." If there was an eligibility issue or additional fee, it should have been explained respectfully. No customer should be spoken to this way. Management should review this incident and ensure members and prospective members are treated with professionalism and respect.

The park was named for the neighborhood and it was built in the early 1960's to provide recreation for children residing in the immediate area. Merritt Park is enclosed with a chain link fence. Park amenities include two lighted softball fields, stadium bleachers, 2 half-court basketball courts, playground, field, and restrooms. While the field is very popular for athletic games, the playground is rather basic and showing its age. To make the park more attractive to children the city has added a brand new ninja style course called ELEVATE by Burke. The course uses different obstacles to get you in shape and can be used individually or by teams. You can make the course even more challenging by incorporating burpees, jumps, and sprints. To learn how to use the equipment you can watch tutorial videos at bciburke.com/elevate. There are also directions on the backside of the sign in the park. I love these new ninja style courses that I have seen being added to parks and make exercise more fun. None of the kids were on the dated playground. Instead they were all on the inviting ninja course climbing and jumping and having a blast.

All of the parks in Boca are meticulously maintained and University Woodlands is no exception. You can find it across the street from the prestigious Pine Crest School on St. Andrews Boulevard. The L shaped park doesn't look like much from the road but pull in and prepare to have your expectations exceeded. Park amenities include baseball fields, restrooms, picnic areas, and beautifully landscaped and shady playground surrounded by pine trees.. The park also has soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, and grills. Come out and play sports, take the kids to play, or enjoy a picnic. I enjoyed the paved exercise path that winds through the park. The first cool front is finally coming our way. Get out and enjoy the beautiful weather.

The berries are smothered in the soles of your shoes.

Through the years it had become run down and people stopped using it but in 2021 the park got a make over paid for by a bond referendum approved by voters. The park was redesigned to bring fun, fitness, and entertainment to city residents. Improvements to the park include an expansive 140-yard multipurpose field and amphitheater with a professional audiovisual system and a modern green room that is used for community events, concerts and sports. For fitness enthusiasts there is a quarter mile walking path along the outside of the field with seven outdoor exercise stations that use your own body weight to get you in shape. There is also a new playground with sun shades and splash pad so the kiddies can cool off after play. Two newly resurfaced tennis courts appeal to tennis players. While all of the new amenities are great the star of the park has to be the three fully covered and lighted basketball courts with professional rims and backboards. Every court was being used and enjoyed when I visited the park. With this park Sunrise lives up to its motto of "live, work and play in the city of Sunrise." Money from the bond also paid for improvements to the adjacent Village Multipurpose Center. Another welcome feature that helps visitors to feel safe day or night is security features throughout the park with emergency health stations. Rounding out the park are a pavilion that can be rented, gas barbecue grills, picnic tables, baby changing areas, bottle filling water fountains and mosaic chess boards. There are up to 100 available parking spots and bike lanes which connect the park to other community corridors. It took over a year to complete the renovations but now an underutilized park in the city has become a destination that has rejuvenated recreation in the city.
