Sure, the Florida Panthers no longer use this as their primary practice facility, but let's not overlook the fact that this building was literally designed to train a professional hockey team... a Stanley Cup-winning one at that. That alone gives the place some cool factor. The facility has three professional-sized rinks, the ice itself is very well maintained, and there's constantly something happening here. Beer leagues for just about every skill level, kids learning to skate, public skate sessions, hockey parents living exclusively on caffeine and hope... it's got that lively community rink atmosphere that makes places like this fun even if you're just there to watch. In my case, I was there to bring my grandsons to see their dad play hockey for the first time, which already made the experience special before we even stepped inside. And honestly, the staff helped make it even better. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and genuinely helpful. Since the place has multiple rinks running simultaneously, I needed help figuring out where we were supposed to be, and the staff guided us without making me feel like I'd wandered into the NHL combine by mistake. Then came my favorite moment. I ordered chicken nuggets during the game, and instead of making me stand around waiting and risk missing part of my son's game, one of the staff members actually brought the order over to me. That's the kind of small gesture people remember. The overall atmosphere here is friendly, welcoming, and very community-oriented. The building itself is clean and well-kept, even if it's starting to show its age a little compared to the Panthers' newer and shinier facilities elsewhere. Is it the fanciest rink complex ever built? No. But honestly, that's part of the charm. It feels authentic. Functional. Comfortable. Like a real hockey rink instead of a corporate showroom that just happens to have ice in it. Four stars (maybe because I'm a longtime Panthers fanatic?). A little aged and a little limited in spots, but absolutely a place worth checking out whether you're playing, skating, or just introducing the next generation to hockey.

The other side of the den was ice skating open to the public for $24.00 with an optional $6.00 skate rental. In order to skate, they provide a digital QR Code to scan and create a Daysmart account with a digital waiver to sign. It was actually very cold walking around and not even on the ice. Basic food and drinks are offered at the snack bar near the entrance. Fun place to skate or just relax and watch the skaters in action on the ice. Dont forget to bring a warm jacket to deal with the frigid temperature.

I also really liked that they offer adult beverages liquor, wine, and canned drinks which gives parents a chance to relax a bit while the kids play. The fun bites were fresh, sweet, and crispy definitely a highlight. They also have Dippin' Dots (one of my favorites), and those did not disappoint. We ordered pizza, chicken tenders, and fries as well those were just okay, nothing special, but the kids enjoyed them. Pricing was reasonable overall. Just note that socks are required and need to be purchased, and jumping is charged by the hour. Some attractions like the zip line and arcade games come with additional fees. They also required to sign a waiver even though we only were going to play video games, which was off since other places do not do that. We still just made the best of it to enjoy the fun.

Located in the park is the Coral Springs Aquatic Complex which has 4 swimming pools, a kiddie water playground, swim shop, 9, 7.5 and 10-Meter dive platforms and fitness center. Classes and clubs meet here and the pool can be rented for private events. Olympic gold medalist, Dara Torres trained here. Also in the park is the award winning Tennis Center of Coral Springs which has 12 green har-tru courts. Membership is required to play here and participate in the programs and camps. My favorite part of the park is the Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital, a not-for-profit organization that rescues injured or orphaned wildlife. they provide the public with education about South Florida's wildlife and environment while rescuing and rehabilitating over 700 animals a year. They offer a a yearly Earth Day festival, summer wildlife camp, and programs for school groups. The Dr. Steven G. Paul Dog Park was built in honor of Dr. Steven G. Paul who dedicated his life to animals and creating this park for the community. Dr. Paul was a veterinary graduate of Ohio State University. He ran two veterinary hospitals and gave public lectures on pet care, wrote newspaper and magazine columns, and appeared on local television to give pet tips. Dr. Paul attended veterinary conference in Massachusetts in 1992 and saw a dog park in Boston Commons. He loved the idea of dogs playing freely and decided to bring the idea back to South Florida. The dog park was built in the mids 90's in the Coral Springs Sportsplex. New agility equipment and water stations have been added for the dogs and there are benches and shade areas for the people. The Florida Panthers Ice Den where the NHL Panther practice and the public can ice skate. They have a pro shop and ice hockey leagues and figure skating practice. The Coral Springs Sportsplex Park also has the Rotary Community Garden, picnic tables, public art, sports fields, a playground, and a walking/jogging trail. I have been here many times through the years to bring injured wildlife to the Sawgrass Nature Hospital, to take my daughter ice skating, with camp groups to use the pool, and with my Jack Russell Sunny to play at the dog park. I have a lot of great memories here. I can't think of another park in the area that has so much to appeal to so many.

It's next to the pavilion so you can still watch your kid play on the field while your other is playing in the park area. - Except for baseball. Baseball is a little too separated to watch kid play baseball and other kid play at the park. It's near a nature center and right off the sawgrass. I definitely wouldn't shy away from participating in an event here or renting the pavilion for a bday party. 2 places to park! I like to park at the dog park, but there is dedicated parking for the sportsplex. I like the dog park is across the street and you enter the park almost in the middle vs parking waaaaay down at the end in the parking lot.

The beautiful, state of the art, Johnny L. Tigner Community Center is a crown jewel for Deerfield Beach. It was named in honor of Johnny L. Tigner who was born in Georgia but grew up in Deerfield Beach. He was well regarded for spearheading many city initiatives including Big 3 Basketball, Family Kickball, Family Fun Day, and Women's Flag Football. He worked at many athletic events in positions as varied as selling concessions, officiating games, or operating the PA system in his distinctive voice. He especially had a heart for the youth in the community and strived to make Deerfield Beach a better place to live. Community Center amenities include a BSO sub station, ballroom, kitchen, and outdoor patio. Upstairs there is a multipurpose room, dance studio, and a production studio. The community center is available for private rentals with a discounted price for Deerfield Beach city residents. I attended an event in the ballroom that was created to benefit the Deerfield Beach Historical Society. Titled George Was Here, it was a photographic exhibit of pictures of former Beatle George Harrison and his then wife Pattie Boyd and the Beatles' assistant Mal Evans on a 10 day trip to Deerfield Beach in November of 1970. It took place after the break up of the Beatles. Harrison came to visit his aunt and uncle and he stayed at the Shore Road Inn, now known as Pier Walk. Just before the trip he put the finishing touches on his solo album, "All Things Must Pass." In 2024, 18 never-before-seen photographs of Harrison were found at a Deerfield Beach apartment building owned by his maternal uncle and aunt, Edmund and Mimi French. To protect his privacy, many locals kept the secret of Harrison's visit for over 50 years. Fun fact, Florida has another Beatles break up connection. John Lennon signed the legal papers dissolving the Beatles on December 29, 1974, while staying at the Polynesian Village Resort at Disney World in Orlando. The event was very interesting and it benefitted a great organization which strives to preserve the history of the city. I also enjoyed checking out this new community center. In addition to the photographs and historical information, there was light bites from the Deerfield Beach Historical Society, beer, wine, and soda for sale, event posters for sale, and a live band playing George Harrison's music. This was a reminder of just how much Deerfield Beach has to offer. George Was Here is for two nights only, concluding today.

I've been a happy member of ProjectRock for several years now. This climbing gym has plenty of…read morepositive things to offer: friendly staff, good routes, a convenient location, etc. However, the issue with the AC barely working is extremely disappointing and frustrating. There is a reason why so many people have been canceling their memberships. It is miserable, and sometimes physically impossible, to climb in these conditions. It makes me wonder whether the owners and managers understand how bad the situation is, or if it simply comes down to a lack of care. Last Thursday at 7 p.m., it was 87°F inside the gym, on top of the extreme humidity. Installing fans has certainly helped create at least some airflow at ProjectSauna, but the air is still hot and humid. As gym members, we have been given countless excuses, but so far, zero actual solutions. There are plenty of other climbing gyms in Florida that have no issues keeping their temperature suitable for climbing, so let's not blame the Florida weather and use that as an excuse to do nothing except wait until December. Furthermore, blaming the AC issues on chalk usage? Well, duh. How else are you supposed to deal with full-body sweat as soon as you walk through the front door? I sincerely hope the AC issues get fixed. The current conditions are simply not suitable for climbing. There is a reason why climbing has seasons--you won't see anyone climbing in the middle of summer at Joshua Tree.
