Bathrooms also had lots of stalls, which was nice. Terminal C is currently under construction so there aren't a lot of places to eat - there's a sit-down restaurant, some vending machines that give you hot and cold food (White Castle, Wow Bao, Cheesecake Factory desserts), a bagel place, a Starbucks, and that was about it (not really bad considering there's only eight gates, I suppose). Overall I liked this airport and would fly through here again if needed.

We would fly in as often as we could. Mrs. K. came in more often than I did because she could manipulate her schedule. So we are having a major expansion of this airport. My little mind cannot figure out what they are doing, but it's going to be a huge facility when they are finished. In my opinion, the inconvenience of the expansion has been minimal. We had to park in the Dolphin lot so you need a shuttle and they don't drop you off at the terminal, but in short term parking. I find that extremely odd and annoying, especially since my return flight lands at midnight and I need a ride back to my car. The airport itself is small enough that it's so easy to get around and is my choice for flights. I usually fly Allegiant from here and the only gripe is that the food choices aren't great, but I understand for only a few gates they can't have a lot.

However, recently we decided to go right into SRQ and we loved being at our favorite Sarasota spots right after landing. After landing we were quickly able to navigate the small airport, get our rental car, stop for caffeine and be at The Ringling all within 30 minutes of landing. The airport is small so it's easy to navigate but that also means there are not a ton of amenities. We enjoyed local artwork and displays throughout. The giant flamingo sculpture in the middle of the airport was impossible to miss and quickly became a favorite landmark for the kids. It's one of those unexpected touches that gives an airport a little personality. We also flew out of Tampa at the end of our trip, and the departure experience was smooth and stress-free. That's about the highest compliment I can give an airport when traveling with children. One minor downside: the Starbucks in our terminal was already sold out of quite a few food items and it wasn't even midday yet. Fortunately, we were able to grab sandwiches from Potbelly, which worked out just fine. Unlike their nearby TPA, they not only botched the design, but as the airport continues to expand and be renovated, they continue to ignore this fundamental part of airport construction. But then again, why spend the money, when you can just leave your customers on the tarmac over and over again, even when there's no rain, when the other airports in the area have all seem to have figured this out?

Parking was free (although we had to drive a couple laps around the small lot to find a spot). They do have a gate that was being installed that looks like parking may be a paid item in the future. Both the check in desk and security were very easy. They offered Pre check guests a ticket so that we did not have to remove laptops or shoes. Once in the terminal, they had a small snack bar with a number of offerings. However, once everyone arrived for the flight, there was very few places to sit, hardly anywhere to charge your devices, and it was very hot. Overall, a very easy experience, but would hope that they put some upgrades on the air side once business ramps up.

There are dozens of other races that people in the adjacent neighborhood would like to attend utilizing this access point. However, the Management of the Airport close and lock the gate. It would be nice if the 'powers that be' would open the gate during every event. It also sounds like the airport authority and the Spring Lake Improvement District are having a battle over storm water runoff, and the only people who are suffering are the residents of Spring Lake.
