Poor Customer Service & Scheduling Issues…read more Trinity Dental has serious issues with customer service and communication. My most recent appointment was scheduled for 11:00 AM. I arrived at 10:50 AM, only to be told at 11:45 AM that I would need to reschedule because they were short-staffed. No phone call, no text, no advance notice--just nearly an hour of waiting to be told they couldn't see me. I highly recommend going somewhere else if you value your time. This was actually my second visit, and unfortunately my second bad experience. I decided to give them another chance after the first visit had similar problems. During that first appointment, I was taken back for a cleaning and exam, then left sitting in the dental chair for over an hour with no communication or updates. I was later told there was an emergency. Two visits with the same issues shows this isn't a one-time situation, but a pattern. Poor communication, poor scheduling, and lack of respect for patients' time.

Title: Periodontist CT Billing Scam - Beware…read more I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience to help others avoid being taken advantage of. I had a severe infection around a dental implant. My dentist prescribed antibiotics and suggested that if things didn't improve, I should see a periodontist for possible implant removal and gum/bone treatment. I went to see Dr. Thalida Dong in Spring, TX. The Technician took an intraoral periapical x-ray. After reviewing it, and examining my mouth. She then recommended a CT scan to see the deeper gum and bone area--adding that insurance usually doesn't cover CT scans. I initially declined, but in pain and desperate for answers, I agreed and paid $375 out-of-pocket. After reviewing the scan, Dr. Dong said my implant "looked good," even wiggled it, stating it was not loose, and noted some gum and bone loss. She offered no real treatment--just said the crown should be replaced and that I should see a regular dentist. Three days later, my implant became loose. I called the office, requested my CT scan, and while waiting overheard another patient being sent for a CT scan. I later spoke to the patient outside--she was also charged $375 for the scan plus $50 for the consultation, despite having Delta Dental PPO. Dr. Dong had told her the exact same thing about insurance not covering it. After researching, I discovered they used code D0381 for my CT scan--a code insurance often denies--instead of using a billable code D0365, which is typically covered once per year under my plan. In addition my consultation was 100% covered in-network, yet Dr. Dong still billed Delta Dental $70 for it. In my opinion, this looks like a deliberate CT scan billing scheme to collect cash instead of using insurance benefits. I would not trust a person who runs a dishonest practice to work on my mouth.

The review will be ongoing since the osseous surgery needs to be done in stages, so review will be updated several times. Although I brush and floss, I developed gun disease and needed osseous surgery. Osseous surgery can be intimidating. That is because you have to cut the gums open to expose and work on the inflamed tissues and often damaged tooth root. It is not quite open heart surgery, but it is something that is still pretty serious and requires a lot of skill, especially since you will be awake the whole time. Having said that, don't worry too much, the procedure itself is not painful. The shots, of course sting and you will need several. Doc Dyer was quick and efficient. OK, so gums are cut open and doc Dyer is cleaning away and seems to be in the zone. I saw one reviewer claim that doc Dyer is not friendly. In my experience he was quite friendly during the initial visit, but yes was not particularly jovial during the actual work. But that is, IMO, because he is serious about the work he is doing. Your gums are cut open and he is down in your tooth root doing some pretty hard core work/scraping (he also had to re-build a damaged root) so you might not want Rodney Dangerfield type humor at that moment. Just my take. He did call to check up on me that night, I think it was about 20 minutes to 9, so that shows me he cares about you after the work day is over. I am sorry to say this, but IMO, a lot of health pros are in it only for the money (please see my review of Delight Dental) but doc Dyer did not have to call at night. Good sign. So the section was done and I went home. My meds were waiting for me at my local Pharmacy, no problem, but 2 hours later I was feeling no pain so I did not take anything. I probably should have because 2 hours later the gums started to hurt. I ended up taking 3-4 codeine. The next morning they really hurt and I took one and they still hurt so I took another. I was worried because you don't get a lot of codeine...but pretty soon the pain resided and here on day 2 I have some lower jaw soreness and moderate gum pain and might need a few more but I am pretty sure I am good. That is a pet peeve of mine, docs who underprescribe pain medication since they care more about their license than your pain (thank the opiod crisis and general greed). Another reviewer claims that doc Dyer under prescribed pain meds, but I am getting by with no problem on what he wrote. I am getting a little pain from eating but I have enough meds, so don't worry about that although YMMV. That wraps it up fo right now. I am a tough grader but have to go with a 5 for right now. We will see how things go when I get the rest of my work done.
