Came here as recommended by one of our city walk tour guides and had a rather interesting (yet enjoyable) experience; I could go either way with a recommendation.
This is definitely a "local" tapas spot, so it was a good experience in terms of getting a flavor of what is probably more traditional tapas for locals; that being said -- I wouldn't personally want to experience this again.
The ambiance is somewhat standard, very small establishment with not a lot of space; pretty much just "bar" seats. The service was also fairly standard; the waitress didn't speak english very well but tried her best and was rather friendly.
I was impressed with the drink selection; as a beer drinker they had more than the standard single light beer and I was able to order an IPA (granted they're in bottles).
As for the food; while the menu was limited -- the dishes were rather good. The meats tasted extremely fresh (they must have cut them right before bringing to the table) and the recommended sardine dish had a really good flavor profile. My only issue with the food, and this goes back to my experience comment, is for example we ordered the traditional bread and at most places it would come "assembled" with the garlic, olive oil and tomato's on it but here we just got the ingredients brought to our table and had to make it ourselves (we literally had to rub fresh garlic onto a piece of toast, then rub a tomato on the toast, then drizzle on olive oil and some salt) - I understand the experience and it's not a lot of work, but when I "go out" to eat I'm not interested in preparing my dish; I can do that myself at home. Most of the dishes came out this way.
So all in all, I'm giving this place 4 stars as I enjoyed the experience and as I mentioned the food was good. Also the prices here are rather inexpensive compared to other places we've visited in the area, so that certainly helped enhance the experience. read more
