Evelyn and Victor own Bodega Del Sur and are two of the nicest and appreciate people we have ever met wine tasting. The tasting experience on their front Patio was OUTSTANDING. Evelyn was a fantastic host. By appointment only means you have her full attention. We had a lot of great conversation and had a nice platter of cheese, grapes and baguette stick to share. For the tastings we loved every single wine and this is the first time I have ever liked every single wine in a tasting. Some notable wines were: 2018 Temperanillo Land of Skulls: 50% Granasha 50% Malbec 2017 Tennant: Excellent for big ribeye and New York steak. Don Manuel Dessert Wine 14 years in the barrel fortifiedZ I don't ever join wine clubs but this is a first. Every wine was fantastic to me in it's own right. As a BBQ Pit Master and Chef I can think of dozens of pairings with all their wine. I am big in supporting small family run businesses and this one I will gladly support in their wine club. I will be coming up again soon to taste the reserves (only for wine club members). I you want an incredible experience, DO NOT MISS this place. Ritz Carleton service with very reasonably priced world class wine in my opinion. Unlike most wineries who age their wine 10, 18, 24 months, Bodega Del Sur ages 3.5 years so you don't have to worry about tannins. 5 stars plus a 6th star for the experience we had today, just like the 6th Diamond at the Ritz Carleton. read more

Lovely tasting room. A minority women owned business, this winery has an a few wines that are really worth buying bottles to take home (Malbec and Albariño) and a sangria that will blow your mind. The owner is also credited with bringing the dia de Los muertos tradition to Murphys which is awesome to attend if you can. read more

Scheduled a wine tasting over Thanksgiving, a few weeks ago, and enjoyed seeing Victor and Evelyn, along with Victor Manuel, the son who just is finishing up medical school..YAY...and really enjoyed reconnecting with them and tasting the wines. I love the Tanat, and all of the wines are made to drink to enjoy LIFE...it's all about really being alive and being thankful, we are getting through so many things together during these challenging times but it's time to come together and work through problems and solve them. This was our first stop on our Murphys wine hop. This shop is off the beaten path as it's closer to the parking lot. Which is exactly why we stopped by! This wine shop has Spanish influenced wines. We tried one white, and the rest were all reds. Oh and one port! I enjoyed the white the best as the reds were a bit too try for my tastes. My boyfriend however loved them because he enjoys a dry red. We both loved the port which is a special release. Our helper Sean was great. He was knowledgeable, made good conservation and funny. We ended up purchasing a bottle of the Monastrell to take home. They also have cute day of the dead inspired art and other knick knacks for purchase. read more

If you are looking for an excellent experience in wine tasting then look no further. My mom, son and I sat at their outdoor covered patio which was beautifully decorated and was catered to by the nicest and very educated owner and assistant. When we walked in we knew they just had a large group ahead of us that were just departing and probably needed a break but without hesitation they started our tasting immediately. They also catered to my little guy with water & soda. There were 7 tastings and they did not disappoint! They also brought out a beautiful plate of olives, cheese, 2 types of sausage, almonds and crostini type bread to go with the different types of wines which was spot on! We ended up buying 4 bottles and 2 of snacks to go with our wine. We've been to many wine tastings and this is by far our favorite! read more

This tasting room was a highlight of our visit to Murphy's! We enjoyed the hospitality of Evelyn and Frausto! We loved the Latin decor and beautiful artwork. We also loved Evelyn tell the history of the wine and the importance of supporting women. Part of the proceeds of a few of the wines go to a women's charity. Anyway, we were impressed with the wine tasting and thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The Malbec was my favorite and the dessert wines are lovely. Oh, but do not leave without the salted Carmel! We had the perfect experience at Bodega Del Sur. Like the other reviewers say, Evelyn (the owner) is very attentive, knowledgeable, friendly, and generous. She was incredibly patient with our numerous questions, and walked us through the different wines we were tasting, asking us meaningful questions to know what we like in order to offer us the best tasting experience. My mom and I told her that we always get a headache from red wine, and she promised us we wouldn't get headaches drinking her organic wine, and she was absolutely right! I just wish we lived nearby so I could always get my red wine from her :) Their shop is very unique, and I especially enjoyed learning that she donates proceeds from her sales to important causes centered around women. Bodega Del Sur makes more typical styles of California wine. They purchase grapes from growers in the region. You got your Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot, Syrah, a Syrah-Zinfandel blend, and a Zinfandel dessert wine, all of which are decent. The tasting room is very beautiful and well-thought-out. By far one of my most favorite tasting rooms in Murphy's. Right near Murphys park across from the side of the hotel. Make this your 1st stop with a fresh palate, you won't be disappointed. The staff and owners are warm, unpretentious and knowledgeable. The tasting room is lovely. The pour a variety of different wines year round. They also hold many notable events as Carmesi release in which proceeds benefit the local crisis center and Dia de Los Muertos. Now the wine.. So many favorites! They deserve 5 stars! My sister and I (who are also Salvadorian like the owners) just came by this weekend to Murphys for the first time. Bodega del Sur had Friendly associates! They had a story for each art work in their tasting room. The light fixture above your head was made by the owner her self! Had a great experience at Bodega del Sur this past weekend. Very friendly staff and very nice wines. I am not usually a red wine fan, but enjoyed all their wines, especially the Sangiovese-went home with a bottle of that! They are also dog friendly, which we appreciated since we were traveling with the four-legged boys. read more

The tasting room associate was so friendly and helpful with all of our questions and took the time to make conversation with us as well. This was the 4th tasting room we visited that day so I didn't taste everything that was offered. I did purchase a bottle of the Dry Zinfandel dessert wine that was amazing. Friendly tasting room right off of Murphys Park. They were only supposed to be open until 5pm but they gladly stayed open to gather in all of us stragglers. A more standard array of California wines are offered at Bodega and we found the Syrah particularly tasty. We just got back from Murphys, and right now Bodega del Sur has the best deal in town on wine. We tasted 10 wines there on Saturday, and I was trying to figure out which of five different wines I wanted to buy. They were all great. They were a little busy at the time, so I hadn't noticed the sign that said that the 2005 Merlot, 2005 Syrah, and 2006 Cab were part of a mix and match deal; pick six for $89. Essentially, those wines are almost 50 percent off. I'd planned on buying them all anyway, and my friends and I ended up buying almost two cases. They were honestly some of the best wines I've had in Murphys, and I've been to 16 wineries there. Go there with a fresh palate; if you like reds, you won't be disappointed. Just be careful; they are very generous pours! read more

My friends met both the husband and wife on different days and we all agreed that they were not only knowledgeable, but also very friendly and easy to talk with. We had a great conversation with the owners and came to find out that they organized the Dia de los muertos festival in Murphys this past November. This tasting room is a delightful little gem located in downtown Murphys. It is beautifully decorated with many special features that make your wine tasting experience so very nice.
