We called ahead for a reservation for a group of 6, which was smart because the restaurant is small, but beautifully decorated to tell the rich history of Barcelona. The seafood was a bit pricy but nonetheless delicious. Pimentas de Patron were wonderful and not too greasy Try the Croqueta de Chipirón simply delicious. Reasonably priced drinks! I am beyond disgusted by the way I and my boyfriend were treated at this restaurant. the waiter with the moustache and dark hair was incredibly rude and made us wait outside for 30 minutes while ignoring us and the older woman was just as bad. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. read more

This is one of the most memorable meals that I can recall in my many travels. Just a short walk from the Tourist Bars with picture menus you will find this little local gem where the menu changes daily based upon what was caught that day. It is casual and intimate with the doors wide open and the kitchen in the same room as the tables. Do not expect 5star service because it was basically just the owner, the chef and a server. This little spot was perfect for our first night in Barcelona. After trekking around all day, we wanted to find something "local" and my wife found this little gem. First off, the staff were extremely friendly! We had our two kids in their strollers and they were very accommodating, helping us to stow them and stash them aside. For the ordering, they graciously explained the menu to the best of their English abilities and went through all the specials of the day. The restaurant in itself was no frills, but charming. It didn't try to be anything that it wasn't... as a side note, when a restaurant has many locals there, with us being the only tourists, that's a great sign! For the food, we ordered off the specials menu and had so many tasty dishes. The "baby" salmon was especially good with a unique presentation and the kids were in awe of the "chocolate bread" (slices of bread with olive oil and a piece of melting chocolate). This was a kid-friendly spot from our experience and one that we will return to on our next trip to Barca! read more

What a nice spot for dinner near the Barceloneta beach! We made reservations on their website but got there 30 minutes late. They were still able to seat us. It's quite tight inside, with tables less than a foot away, but I think that's part of the experience. Servers were wearing masks. I got a taxi ride here from La Rambla area for less than $7/€6. There were some street parking spots but very coveted. *CASH ONLY* establishment and we were notified at the door. Before you enter, check out the menu by the entrance. They actually have no menu, except for the small list by the kitchen. This was the toughest part, trying to figure out what to order. We ended up going off of photos posted on TripAdvisor. (They had high ratings on TripAdvisor, which is how we found this place.) They offer beer, wine, and sangria. I didn't know the prices for anything, which might seem like a red flag for some people. Who knows what they would charge us when the bill came. I had the bomba, which I highly recommend. The croquette was absolutely delicious. I think one order is shareable between two people just to try. The pescadito frito (fried anchovy) was very salty. They served it with a slice of lemon. I had to wash it down with a lot of water. The calamares a la andaluza (fried calamari rings) was very salty as well. The calamari itself was great and very tender. Lastly I had the steamed mussels, which is something I'd come back for. The tomato-based soup was delicious! Service was great. The servers spoke some English. The lady was nice enough to explain some of the food they served. Great place for seafood. We had 7 people so we were able to really sample the menu. Loved the razorclams, oysters, cod, really everything except maybe the braised pig snout. Maybe that's the way it is prepared locally but it wasn't our cup of tea. It's just a block from the water but no views. People head here for the food. This tiny magical place is perked behind a busy beach street but shines on it's own. The service is A1. We flew in from NYC with our toddler so we asked a lot of questions about the menu. The waitress answered every one with no issues. We felt super welcome - something we found to be rare in Barcelona if you're American. Food: Get the squid ink croquetas! And the potato balls! Paella was okay. Also felt it was overpriced. Almost €50 for two. Not sure if that is the norm or not. We also waited 20-30 minutes for our paella when we had a reservation for it weeks in advance. We even told them the time we're going to be there. They didn't make it until we got there. Might be better if we go back during the day to try the tapas. My first experience with real tapas and it was delicious! We stopped at Bodega last Saturday before heading to the airport and were able to snatch a table after a 5 minute wait. We ordered the home-made sangria, the mussels and the patatas bravas (as well as a couple of waters). The drinks arrived after a couple of minutes and I really enoyed the sangria. So refreshing. After a few more minutes, the patatas bravas arrived. I think, the portion was quite generous and I enjoyed the tomato-spicy sauce as well as the aioli. A few minutes after we had finished the potatoes, the mussels were served. This was the star of this meal. I have never had mussels that fresh and delectable before. They were boiled in a herb-infused/garlic broth and you could tell that the mussels were super fresh. Even my 8-year old son, who did not care for mussels at all before, really enjoyed it. It was super yummy. The service was really friendly as well. Not everyone spoke English, but we still made it work and I would really recommend this place to everyone visiting Barelonata Beach. I will make sure to return next I am in Barcelona to try more of their menu. :) read more

I went their with my husband today due to high reviews on TripAdvisor and had their today's special (marinated razor clam) and seafood paella. Really disappointed! The razor clams were obviously overcooked, the paella was mediocre, and there were tons of mosquitos that gave me a lot of bites (aka bad environment). It was also way way overpriced for its quality of food! We had way better food at other tapas places that are way cheaper. This place oozes authentic Spanish cuisine. Side note: if you want the chef to make you a paella, you need to make a reservation in advance and let them know you want paella. Otherwise, you can't order the same day. That being said, the food was incredible. Be prepared to wait. It's fresh produce and they will walk you through it on the counter. But the wait is worth it 1000%. Food is flavorful. DELICIOUS!!! The chef is a master at what he does. The wine selection is small but really fabulous. The staff is unbelievably friendly. Hands down best food and service experience in Barcelona. Just happened to walk by right before opening time. The tortilla was warm, fluffy and accompanied by sauteed onions and delicious tomatoe bread. Sardines were lightly fried and perfectly seasoned. The abondigas and seafood stew had a salty yet balanced tomato sauce that went well with a little crusty bread. I'm not sure what the issue was but after we ordered clams and tomato bread no one ever came back. It took about 45 minutes for the items to arrive and then no one checked in. No one asked if we wanted something else, even though we said we would order more, we were stuck in the back and ignored. It could have been the exceedingly rude couple who allowed their child to run around and yell. It could be the staff just was overwhelmed. I'm not sure but I know 1/4 of our clams were the closed and of those that were edible about half had sand. The start was amazing as the waitress helped us with the wine in the sweetest way but by the end we decided it was better to walk in the rain then order any more food. Maybe you should try but we will never ever go back. I'm not sure slow food = extra slow service. After two weeks in Spain this was the only bad meal. read more

I would have never known about this spot if it wasn't for a Yelp event. So thank you, Yelp for introducing me to this little bodega just off the main road in Barceloneta. The main upstairs room is bright and lively, with a view into the open kitchen. Our event was in the brick-lined barrel vaulted basement - which was nice and intimate. As for the food, everything we sampled was fantastic! The Arroz con Marsicos/Paella was so good, I held myself back from getting a second helping, to not look so greedy (I really wanted more). The Cazon Adobo - a white-fleshed fish, lightly breaded and fried were like delicate pillows - tender and delicious. I don't remember the names of the other dishes, but the service was friendly, and they were accommodating with my food intolerances. Bodega La Peninsular is definitely a great option if you're on this side of town and looking for local specialties. I was told by the other Yelpers that the dishes we were sampling were ultra local - specific to the Barceloneta. I'll be back for sure. read more

My wife and I came to Barcelona for our anniversary. This was by far our best dinner (last night tonight). Small and quaint with tasty food. Fantastic Spanish seafood cuisine near Port Vell. This is a city gem that is cozy, amiable, delicious and reasonable. Marvelous service provided by Martha and her team! The chefs and staffs are all smiling and enjoying the teamwork. Super fresh seafood! Many caught of the day fishes available for selection. Packed with both locals and visitors! We had simple green olives compliments of the house One order of tuna belly, crispy skin and seated on the outside but rare inside and an order of mackerel. Both served with potatoes and tomatoes. Mama Tel was tasty but bony. Tuna was sublime. So soft and flavorful cooked perfectly with a little olive oil and served with parsley. Location is a tiny backstreet off the marina. This was a lovely little spot for lunch and tapas. The food was amazing! They have an English menu but the translations were a little off. Nonetheless the food that arrived was delicious. They make the traditional Spanish torta with sweet onions which was fantastic. At least a few of the staff spoke English. My wife has celiacs and can not have gluten. I explained this to the staff and they were able to tell her what she could and could not have. read more
