My wife and I were in Barcelona on vacation and we had just toured the Guell Park, a must see. We hiked to the top of the park and right outside was Las Delicias. We sat down and I ordered a big beer. It hit the spot. I ordered the fried pig ears and pork cheeks from the vast menu. There were all sorts of cool things you could order. My food came out pretty quick. I had fried pig ears at the Michael Symon restaurant in Cleveland and they were fantastic. These ones were cut up in cubes and full of crispy, yet chewy deliciousness. Nice and salty as well. The pig cheeks were a little to fatty and chewy for me. I only ate about a third of them. I ordered another beer, which took awhile to get, because our server pretty much didn't check on us after we first sat down. I had to flag someone down to get another beer. Not a big issue, but it was a little frustrating. Overall, a great bar to have a beer and get the pig ears. They were really good! They had outdoor seating as well, and on a sunny day, it looked really nice. They were all full though when we looked to sit down. read more

After a morning exploring the famous Park Güell, we were hungry for some traditional Spanish tapas, and Restaurante Delicias was only a short walk away from the park! At around 1pm on a Sunday afternoon, we were told that the restaurant was full (both inside and outside), so we waited for around 30 minutes for a table before getting seated outside. Let me preface this review by saying that we had an unsavory experience with some members of the waitstaff, so that has been reflected in the amount of stars that I have allocated. Upon getting seated, I heard one server say to another in Catalan: "you go wait on the Chinese people." I don't think they knew that I understood a bit of Catalan as well as Spanish, so both servers were a bit shocked when I started speaking Spanish upon getting seated! While I'll assume the server didn't mean anything with bad intent, it still didn't leave the best taste in my mouth (especially since we aren't even Chinese). Also, after going inside the restaurant to use the restroom, I saw that there were plenty of tables inside - in fact, almost half the tables were completely empty, despite being told that both inside and outside were completely full! I'm sure the restaurant had its reasons for telling us this, but it was definitely confusing. But other than that, the food at Restaurante Delicias was outstanding. We started with the Pulpitos a la Plancha (Grilled Baby Octopus, €7,50). For the price, we were given a large portion of octopus, and they were cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of bite and tenderness, combined with a pesto-like sauce! The oil-based sauce made the dish just rich enough without sacrificing the fresh flavor of the seafood. We also ordered a large portion of the Mejillones al Vapor (Steamed Mussels, €8,50). Again, this was a large portion of seafood for the price, although this wasn't as impressive as the octopus. We felt as though the mussels were a tad on the overcooked side, with a bit too much chewiness/rubberiness for our liking, though they were well-seasoned! Next, we ordered a large portion of Pan con Tomate (Catalan Tomato Bread, €4,50). A huge portion yet again - noticing a pattern? Though this seems like a simple dish, it is surprisingly addictive. The crusty white bread combined with the rich oil and slightly acidic sweetness of the tomato comes together to form a perfect combination of textures and flavors. Their Gazpacho (Andalusian Tomato Soup served cold, €6,50) was also a pleasant surprise - it was perfectly refreshing on a sweltering summer day, with a great amount of acidity contrasting with creaminess, and it is served with croutons and crispy pieces of ham, which add a nice textural contrast to the smooth soup! Pro tip: you can't go wrong dipping the Pan con Tomate in as well (tomato bread with tomato soup - absolutely!). Lastly, we ordered the Arroz Negro (Black Rice, €9,25), which came with a mound of jet black rice (the color comes from squid ink) topped with a generous amount of seafood, including prawns, calamari, and mussels. While the seafood tasted fresh and was cooked nicely, the rice was the star of the dish - it had soaked up all the flavors of the seafood, and had the perfect al dente texture. This was surprisingly our favorite dish! Overall, we really enjoyed our meal at Restaurante Delicias - the food was absolutely delicious, the prices are even better, and we couldn't have asked for a more convenient location near Park Güell. Though we didn't have a great experience with the servers (2 stars), the food was so good (5 stars) that I'll give this place a solid 4 stars! read more

Everything was sooooo good. The chicken croquettes were our favorite!! We were looking for these everywhere we went. I stopped into Delicias after Park Guel for a snack. Delicias reminds me of a home-y neighborhood cafe. The morning was filled with locals drinking coffee and a group of seniors gambling on the electric machines. I was still on American time and ordered lunch at 10am and they happily obliged. I got the patatas bravos and small octopus dish to share. This was more than enough food for lunch. The patatas were crunchy and hot and the red sauce left a lingering garlic taste. Imagine French fries with a garlic paprika sauce! The baby octopus had a wonderful seared crisp that was surrounded in flavored olive oil. These were the perfect bite size. Delicias was authentic, generously proportioned, and very reasonably priced. My Airbnb host recommended this place and now I recommend to any other visitors. A wonderfully located spot right outside one of the Park Güell exits. read more

First tapas experience in Barcelona and totally exceeded my expectations!! It seems to be mostly frequented by locals and is situated only a 10 minute walk away from Parc Guell. Every dish I tasted was fresh, delicious and generously sized. I recommend the calamari, patata bravas, and the goat cheese salad (literally the best salad I have ever tasted)! As our first proper meal in Barcelona, this place did not disappoint. It's very unassuming, several tables outdoors where you can people watch, and loads of locals enjoying beer and food around us. After struggling with the Catalan menu, the server kindly offered us the international menu, which has four languages and pictures. We ended up ordering a mix of tapas: grilled cuttlefish, fried pork cheeks, fisherman's clams and pan con tomate. Each dish was simple yet flavorful in it's own way, definitely a very homey type of vibe. My favorite was the grilled cuttlefish, which had the perfect amount of buttler, parsley and seasoning and pairs well with beer. We left very full and happy, unable to finish a few dishes for only 25 Euro, which we felt was a fabulous deal for the atmosphere and food. As other reviewers have said, this is a truly authentic Spanish restaurant experience. However, since it's Barcelona they must get a fair amount of tourists still, because they have a nifty English menu if you ask for it. I ate dinner here around 9:30pm, typical in Spain, and ate in their outdoor area. I was surrounded by Spanish speakers smoking, drinking, and eating (of course) and generally having a good time. I highly recommend the patatas bravas - they give you a huge heap of them with a mild cheese and delicious sauce on top, very good value. I also got the champiniones (mushrooms) and they were okay but not my favourite. If you want to feel like one of the locals and eat some delicious patatas bravas, come to Las Delicias! read more

Came here by random after climbing to the top of the bunkers. The area is more low key/off the beaten path. Certain signs and graffiti marks may make the area seem not so tourist friendly, but not the restaurant. Staff was great, tapas were delicious. Two glasses of wine and two small dishes. 20 euro! Can't beat it. Definitely recommend it if you're up that way. read more

Walked in and sat ourselves, very bustling at 3 pm and i can see why. The food was amazing and the staff are very friendly. The ones who didn't speak English quickly turned to get one of the ones who did. Had 3L water, tripe, two orders of tomato bread, grilled baby octopus, snails, catalonian pudding and tiramisu (best I've had and only 4 euro!) All of that for 35 euro. I have a friend who lived in the neighborhood for a few years and this was his favorite spot. I come in whenever I'm in Barcelona--went there tonight and got patatas bravas (my favorite in the city) and croquetas, two beers, an absolutely huge meal, delicious, too much for one person but I finished it anyway. And it was 12.5 Euros. Can't beat that. Off the beaten path, but if you're at Park Guell on foot, it's well worth the walk over. Just to the NE of the park. It's definitely going to be helpful if you speak some Spanish. This is not a big joint for American tourists. read more

We had an excellent lunch at Las Delicias the other day. As other reviewers have noted, the patatas bravas dish is excellent. We also had tuna salad, mejellones, pa amb tomaquet, among other things - plus two bottles of wine, for three people. We stayed for three hours, we were enjoying ourselves so much. The portions were very generous, and the service friendly. One of the highlights of our stay in Barcelona. read more
