Great Vibe and Friendly Service! We arrived around 7 pm and before the restaurant got busy. We were greeted and sat promptly in the outdoor seating. They do have an English menu if you have difficulty ordering from their Spanish menu. We shared Rabo de Toro (15€) Braised Oxtails Racion Calamares (10€) Cuttle Fish in ink Chirion (8€) Stuffed Baby Squids All so well flavoured! Timing matters when you want to maximize your experience here. They open at 1pm, but if you show up after 1:30pm, expect a very long queue that'll wrap around the corner. We sidled right up to the bar - we need to normalize leaning against the bar for a boozy lunch with small plates. Behind that bar was an army of seasoned bartenders and servers who've seen it all, done it all - just the right amount or surliness mixed with friendly attention to let you know you're in excellent hands here. Throughout our meal, the ice cold Cruzcampo flowed consistently and it was wonderful. The pork cheek was brilliant. The prawn tortellita was so crispy you could just break it up and eat it like the flavorful cracker it was. We asked for a pringa but our server made sure we tried the piripi also, my God, what a combo of sandwiches. That piripi - roast pork, prosciutto, garlic aioli - is pure heaven. The stuffed zucchini was also terrific. Honestly one of the best joints in this lovely city. It's busy, the staff hustle, and we loved every minute of it. read more

Food was rather greasy and felt unbalanced, it was fried stuff served with other fried stuff - house made potato chips. The spinach chickpea dish was decent but we had this Andalusian dish at a couple other Tapas spots during our trip and enjoyed it more then. Just a note that the fried eggplant has ham in it, it doesn't say that in the English menu. Their popular dish is the croquette plate but my husband couldn't get through it all. Maybe we didn't order the right things but we got the feeling that this was primarily a bar with finger food rather than a tapas place for dinner. Great restaurant with high quality food. You know it's a solid place when the place is packed with spaniards on a Wed night and they don't have an English menu. I asked the waiter for his recommendations which were all fantastic! Bacalao en aceite (cod in oil served on toast) Beuy (medium rare) Carrillada al vino (pork cheek in wine sauce) Lomito Serrano Enspinaca (spinach and chick peas) The wine that we had was also fantastic. If you are a tourist watch out! Food was below average. Wait staff does not know how to wear face mask properly. Seated next to the kitchen & observed that at least two prep staff only put on mask when they were aware that we were looking at them. More egregious is that the older guy 'barking orders' never wore his mask over his nose, and actually took it off each time to speak. The real kicker is the cheating on the bill - charged for bread placed at the edge of the table that we neither requested nor ate. Charged for three glasses of beer when only one was ordered. Located close to the bull fighting ring. This is a great place for a quick mid-day snack. Portions are huge - while the urge to try everything is strong, in retrospect, should have not ordered more than 3 items for two people. The bacalao was too salty for my taste but the jamon iberico platter was fanastic. Note: Their specialty is the pringa (blood sausage sandwich) but it is not on the menu. We were still a bit peckish after our Sunday dinner of crisps at Los Angeles, so when this started to get going for the night, we walked over to get a few pieces. Very few seats, mostly standing at tall tables. On a Sunday night at about 10pm, it was very busy and very loud. We didn't come across any English menus, so muddled along OK with a little help from bar staff. I don't think there is table service, we ordered at the bar and they flagged us down when dishes came out. This is traditional tapas, rather than modern. They have a focus on little sandwiches, although only one was vegetarian (roquefort cheese), but my companion enjoyed a couple of meaty mini sarnies. We tried a couple of other veggie dishes, including the leeks with mayonnaise, which was also very heavy. I'd say this is A-OK, so 3* from me. If I were in the same situation of being there, being hungry and it being open, I'd go back, but wouldn't make a special trip. read more

My son and daughter ate here on their trip to Spain - my daughter says they are not even worth a one star review. She was recommended by a local to come here while sightseeing downtown; whether it's because my children are American or because they are younger that the usual age of travelers their experience was a huge disappointment. Seated in the corner of the restaurant at 3pm, from my understanding, the late lunch of Spain before the siesta and VERY much before the usual 9pm dinner, their waiter was rude, even in the lines of European customer service. They were given a dinner menu instead of a lunch menu, different that every other table at the restaurant. My daughter ordered salmon and was given soggy cod as a substitute without an apology just a "we are out of salmon". Ironically, almost every table at the restaurant had some sort of salmon dish on their table, even the ones that ordered after my son and daughter. My son ordered a hamburger, got it once my daughter had almost finished her whole disgusting meal, and when I say got it I mean it was thrown down onto the table without a blink of an eye or smile as the waiter went to go ATTENTIVELY serve the other tables less than a foot away. Not only was the food and service below sub par, it took thirty minutes to get a servers attention from the corner table to pay the bill. I guess disrespect and terrible standards go hand in hand. My daughter, who has traveled all around Europe claims this is the worst restaurant she has set foot in to date, didn't even want to take pictures of the 'meal' to show her foodie mom, sad. read more

Went for dinner on Easter evening and the place was packed. You will only be able to sit outside if you order from their dinner menu and won't be allowed to order tapas. Very friendly staff and his recommendations were good. One of those classic Spanish bars where they will not stop pouring the gin in your glass unless you tell them to. The pork loins and the chorizo were good. The fresh prawns with rock salt is also highly recommended. After a nice meal you can take a 7 min stroll to the cathedral for some great bars and flamenco shows. read more

Went in the afternoon and the waiter was very impatient. He seemed annoyed that we asked for a menu and then when we were looking over the menu he advised that the kitchen would be closing soon so we needed to decide. This despite the fact that there was nothing saying they were closing soon but fine. When we did decide he didn't stay at our table long enough to listen to our whole order. (a 6 top came in after us and when they opened the door to ask if they were still serving the answer was yes with no rushing.) So I'm not sure if the fact that we were Americans was the problem or if he was just having a bad day. I'm not sure to what extent this place is intended for or frequented by tourists, but by the reception my friends and I received I would say it is a lesser extent. Perhaps if you're fluent in Spanish, then the service would be a bit more prepossessing, however, I will grant that it was passable. Many different tapas were sampled by our group of Anglo-Americans, and I'm not sure if they have some special breed of swine in Spain that eats better than Spaniards themselves and speaks the language of all animals, but I wouldn't find it surprising. I'm no ham enthusiast, but anything with ham in it here was above and beyond anything I've ever had. They are serving some kind of elite, polymath pigs here. The sangria was also excellent. I suppose variation in the realm of sangria is limited, but the fruit...I believe was grown and picked by the pigs prior to their deaths, it is THAT good. If you can't trust the recommendation of such a handsome guy as me, whom can you trust? read more

Good simple, traditional tapas. Lots of people snacking and drinking but we ate an early dinner. Loved the off-menu pork sandwich recommend by another reviewer. Cuttlefish in its ink was tasty too.
