Unfriendly, curt, brusk service. As soon as we sat down and our waitress came she was in a hurry to get our order and seemingly run away. She seemed to be only one of 2 waiters there and there were also a few tables full outside. But we were the only customers inside. So we initially overlooked her behavior as being busy. No big deal. Then the food came out and one dish after another that was a salad or came with a salad was brown. Half the salad was brown and wilted. But, we could not get her attention as we were in the back room. And when another table filled up back there she was in such a rush that we could not flag her down to tell her about the wilted salad. So we ate around the brown salads. And when we were able to get her attention we told her that the lettuce and salad were not fresh. She took a micro second to look at it as she was running out the room and repeated "La lechuga no es fresca?" While she was running out the room. And never came back to inquire if we wanted another salad or a replacement. That was it. You take it or leave it apparently. I must say there were some really good dishes that we ordered. The ox tail and pig trotters were soft and well seasoned. But the grilled Iberian pork and grilled chicken had ZERO seasoning. Just plain and rubbery. Maybe that's the way it is. Maybe not. But there was zero taste. However we were able to salvage most of the plates by dunking the meat pieces in the pork trotter sauce. And we were all hungry and just wanted to be done and out of there. We left 75% of our salad and various lettuce from other plates, as we picked our way through the brown stuff, in order to not waste more food than needed. We also hoped somebody back in the kitchen would realize that most of the greens had not been touched. But there was no word by the end of dinner and we quickly paid and left. We passed the waitress on the way out and there was not a single word out of her mouth. We even had to pay at the bar and that guy also did not say a single word. I have been an Elite Yelper for 7 years and I have only written 2 other reviews of less than 4 stars. I don't want to hurt anybody's business. I figure a bad restaurant will eventually put itself out of business. But, this is the third time in my life that I'm writing up a less than 4 star review. Bc they deserve it. The 1 star is for the wonderful decor and 1/3 of the dishes that were very good. It really is a pity. We were expecting so much more from the experience-our last meal together in Spain before going home tomorrow. Unfortunately, 2 out of 7 of us had to go hungry (they didn't touch their food and the rest of us had to eat half their plates for them) and go elsewhere for food afterwards. Really a shame. We're staying just down the street from it and were looking forward to staying at the bar and drinking afterwards. The poor service and food made us run out of there. read more

Terrible service, terrible microwaved food, nice ambience. We really wanted to enjoy this restaurant as we were staying very close to it. But it turned out to be such a disappointment. The waitress treated us like we were bothering her, from the time she took our order. All the greens were half brown. All the food was like warm. The "grilled" meats were clearly microwaved and barely warm. But we couldn't get her attention and we were all very hungry so we managed to eat most of it, but left all the greens and salads. When we finally managed to get her attention she merely glanced at the greens and huffed as if offended, clearly irritated but made no attempt to remedy the situation. Such a disappointment. We probably would've left it alone if it was just bad food. But the bad service really pushed it over the edge. You have no right to treat customers in such a manner, especially when your food sucks. Clearly a tourist trap. They don't have to cater to any repeat customers. Only customers who visit once in a lifetime. And there's a sucker aka new tourist every minute. I loved this place. We didn't research it beforehand, just walked in. It had the kind of feel that said it would be a winner, and it ended up being one of my favorites in Sevilla. This comes from a place of bias - I enjoy bars that are nondescript and unpretentious, with no apparent care to draw people in. This was that, and the food and interior were excellent. A friend recommended Estrella as a place to get away from the other tourists while in Seville (even though we too are tourists). We were seated at a great table next to the window and the place is perfectly decorated with old pictures and even several trophies of champion bulls from past bull fights. It was cozy and the staff were patient with our poor Spanish while we navigated the menu. Estrella provided a low-key, relaxed environment to wind down the day. My wife and I enjoyed the Spinach and Chickpeas while our boys really like the goat cheeses and honey. The oxtail was so good that it almost disappeared from the table before I could get a bite. The various Iberian hams were a nice selection of different preparations. We had a couple of other items and left replete. This is a place I would recommend to any of my friends visiting Seville. read more

Meh, this was right in front of me while walking back to my more centrally located hotel. It was almost empty, and I was hungry, so I went in based on the yelp reviews. The bulls on the wall give that authentic feel we tourists like, and the English menu made it easy to order. I tried the first three items listed as specialties - cod, eggplant and a fish pate. We had lunch at Estrella in Seville, Spain. The ambiance is great. The restaurant is tucked away between a few narrow alleys. The location has clearly been used as a store/restaurant for several decades. The tapas were very good and so was the dessert. They had a broad selection of alcohol. This place had great tapas! It was the first place I went to in Seville! Had the salmorejo which I didn't like. I had a egg with French fries which was good. I had fried (which everything is in Spain ) goat cheese on a Crostini with an amazing sauce! I had the jamón and the manchego which is one of my favorite tapas. The stuffed zucchini was also very good! Love the pisto with the fried egg on top ! The fried cod was good also. My favorite was the sweet fried eggplant which tasted like French toast sticks! We ate here twice during a 4-day stay in Seville. It was some of the best food of our trip to Spain, including Madrid. Simple but incredibly delicious, and a bargain. Highly recommend the cod and the ratatouille with fried egg. read more

Great authentic tapas recommended by our Airbnb host and multiple blogs online. We had to wait in the door way for about 30 minutes around 8:30- it's was bustling! But as soon as a table opened up they sat us down. We would recommend the whiskey sirloin, Iberian steak, fried eggplant, chicken brochette- but so many delicious options came flying out to tables around us. It is helpful to try to make eye contact with running servers if you need to order more as they are busy going to and from the kitchen with tapas. Great atmosphere and delicious tapas. On our first night in Seville, we walked out of our flat and checked out a few places I'd bookmarked in one area. We were both exhausted and pretty hungry, and so wanted somewhere that definitely had a couple of vegetarian options, and that we could manage with particularly crappy tourist Spanish. The first four places we tried didn't work out, either too full or nothing I could eat on the menu. Estrella was busy but not rammed, and it was actually warm enough to eat outside with coats on, which felt like a real treat in January! Service was fairly quick and no problems communicating, and they have English menus (also other languages, I saw a German version, so who knows what other options there are). This is traditional style tapas, and I liked the garbanzo and spinach dish, and fried goat's cheese. The omnivore I ate with enjoyed pork cheeks and a few other meaty bits, and he said they were better than the veggie options. It was tasty, but it was also really heavy and pretty oily. It was totally fine for one meal, but it did put us onto the track of finding more modern tapas that was a bit more about fresh foods, which was a helpful lesson. read more

Stumbled into this restaurant after a relaxing time at Aire de Seville. Starving, mellowed out and ready for some good food. We had no expectations as we just happened to find it walking. What did we get? Absolutely stellar (pun intended) food. I mean, incredible food. Excellent tapas that I haven't found anywhere else yet. Lots of vegetarian options. Traditional menu items and some more creative options as well. Great wine list. Service is meh, but that's sometimes to be expected. Was super busy by locals only - always a nice sign. This restaurant was recommended to me by someone, and I'm so glad I ventured off the beaten path past tons of other places (despite being hungry) to eat here. It was hot, hot, hot given that it was late August, but everyone was sitting outside, so I figured I should as well. I was solo dining so I had to pick my three tapas carefully. I ended up picking three different Andalucian tapas that I'd never tried before: Crujiente de berenjenas (fried eggplant with honey), espinacas caseras con garbanzos (cooked spinach with garbanzo), and pimiento piquillo relleno de bacalao (peppers stuffed with cod). Wow. All were delicious, but I actually ended up like the spinach the most. Go figure! I would say that the peppers were my least favorite, albeit also good. The fried eggplant was really sweet, but I did like the cinnamon-honey flavor. Definitely a must-order. Service and prices were excellent, and my stomach was doing a happy dance and so was I (but you know - in my head). Estrella was an excellent restaurant recommendation for traditional food from the South and a very impressive variety of tapas. read more

Just around the corner from our hotel, I could only watch my boyfriend devour his tapas while I was recovering from food poisoning. Probably one of his favorite meals in Sevilla. He would highly recommend the bacalao con tomato (salt cod stewed with tomatoes) and whatever dessert he was slobbering over. We walked in for a snack. The table was dirty. We asked the server to clean it. He wiped it once and then asked us what we wanted to drink. He had never given us a menu. Our table was still covered in food. I showed him and asked him to wipe it again. He had an attitude. I left (our room is just around the corner).If that's what's visible to the customer I can only imagine what happens behind the scenes. Had 3 tapas and a cerveza here. I am a vegetarian so I could not do justice to their menu. But, I must say I spotted atleast 4-5 veggie options. I tried the vegetarian musaka which was divine.
