One of the things I enjoyed in Thailand was yoga. It's a great way to workout and stay fit. One of my friends told me about a yoga place she goes to in Aiea recently. I wasn't 100% sure where Aiea was but I told her that I would check it out. Body & Brain Aiea is very easy to find and it's not too far from Honolulu. There is lots of parking there and stalls are wide. They are upstairs above Curves and a food/beverage shop in Aiea Town Square. When you enter, you will notice that it's very bright and welcoming. The receptionist area is very organized and the staff is very friendly. Training/Workout area is very spacious. You really feel the positive energy from everyone. One feels very comfortable and at ease here. It's rather relaxing and I like how clean they keep the facility. If you live in the area or not, check them out.

Finally searched on Yelp and found Hikina Yoga right down the street from where I live. Can't beat that for convenience. Being a total newbie to yoga, I was really anxious about going to my first class which was with Eric's Aloha Yin. My anxiety was quickly soothed by Eric's soft-spoken and easy-going demeanor. I've taken Aloha Yin and Vinyasa Flow classes with Eric, Jay and Megan. All of them are awesome. Very friendly, down-to-earth and patient (especially with a novice like me). The classes not only challenge me physically but mentally as well. It's quite a workout yet I always leave class feeling relaxed and renewed. The atmosphere at Hikina Yoga is filled with such positive and comforting vibes. No judgement. No intimidation. I look forward to learning more about yoga and myself. Whether you're new to yoga or been into it for a while, I'm sure you would enjoy Hikina Yoga! Go try em, Go!

Pros: It's spacious, everybody is serious at this gym (no chit chatting/on their phone just sitting at the machine), parking is always readily available, they have a WOMEN'S SECTION (this is a huge plus for me!! Ladies, you'll love this section! No boys allowed!), lots of machines and free weights, music is always bumpin' with good music, lots of disinfecting stations. Although they are not opened 24 hours right now due to COVID, this place is great and I don't have to wait for any machines or weights. I can't wait till the classes open up so I could try it, too. Cons: They need to clean...and I mean clean the dusts on the walls and floors. This is minor and could be resolved quickly but it makes me wonder how often they clean when I see the same dust piles week after week in the same area. The women's restroom smells ALL the time. Not sure if there's a plumbing issue but I gag every time I go into the locker room. There's no WIFI... I was surprised they had no WIFI. Otherwise, great gym!

This was my first ever barre class I've taken, and wow - what a workout. I'm three months postpartum, and the classes offered provide the perfect workout and challenge for me, as modifications are also provided. The studio is clean and inviting. Not only did the workout catch my eye after several classes, but the owner Melissa is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable to barre. I appreciate how all the instructors at Sweat + Soul are friendly and encouraging. The instructors help guide you throughout class and make friendly corrections to optimize your positions so you can get the best workout possible. Highly recommended this studio to everyone!

It is a total body workout which includes brief stretching before transitioning to the next muscle group. I love how Sweat+Soul barre really targets the smaller muscles to help me feel strong and toned. I can attest that the workouts WILL stay challenging, even after working out here several times per week for years. Instead of getting "easier" with time, your form will slowly improve (which I think also helps to improve your posture!). If it's starting to feel easy, you're not properly engaging your muscles :) The teachers and the owner are all so friendly and know how to kick your ass in the best way. I also love how CLEAN it feels in the studio. Pretty much all other fitness studios I've tried out feel noticeably grosser compared to here. (I can understand that it's also probably due to the nature of the workout for other studios though.) The studio recently moved to Ward Village Center (Genki sushi, Kids City, etc.), on the side of the structure where Roger Dunn Golf is located. This new location doesn't have a water refill station yet, so be sure to fill up your flask before heading here.

It was great decision. They use the mindbody app to book classes and there were plenty of options to choose from. The yoga studio is located up the stairs and there is plenty of parking adjacent to the building or in the side lot. There is quite a variety of instructors and each tend to teach the same time each week. I want to name bomb instructors but frankly there were so many good ones who each have their own style that i dont want to leave anyone out. The classroom isn't that large so the classes are normally between 4 to 8, and the instructors know you by name and offer a lot of personal direction and support. I highly recommend this for locals and travelers alike as you can pay per month or class or group of classes. The introductory rate is a great deal. All the equipment is provided but you could bring your own if you want. The facility has a water cooler and showers. We did not know that it was in a residential area and there was no parking available when we arrived 15 mins early. Maybe because there was a garage sale that weekend and there was no street parking anywhere else. We ended up parking in front of their house which was not one of the designated offered spot. We barely made it to class. The other small issue was the teaching. She would verbally give the instructions but not perform most of the poses. I haven't done yoga in a while so that was a bit confusing for me. I had to keep looking at the other students for guidance. The pace was a bit unsteady during the middle of the session. It started off good, one breath one movement but in the middle she gave a few instructions that was more like half a breath and one movement. We did have a good workout overall. It seems there's a lot of regulars that knew her way of teaching and they didn't have any problem following her during the class. The students were very welcoming and nice to us newcomers. They also had incredible strength and stamina doing the head stand. My friends and I were quite impressed.
