I've been waxed at popular chains in the past, but as a Black woman with coarse hair the results at those businesses was typically subpar. Chemaine explained exactly what she was doing, asked excellent questions, and performed my waxing with care. So my friend and I found out about Body Bar on Groupon months ago and decided to check her out. We had no problem scheduling an appointment for the next day(which was a plus, because I was on a time crunch)! The Body Bar is located inside of the Phoenix Salon Suites(It's in a shopping center so there's tons of parking). When you first walk into Body Bar everything is pretty and pink, with such a positive and calm vibe. Chemaine was very nice and took her time with my friend(who's had a bad experience prior somewhere else) and myself. The wax she uses felt as if it was sent from above. It was very fast and was very MINIMAL(on a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 2.5 or 3 max) to no pain. Typically I love getting waxed with sugar, but Chemaine has convinced me other wise with her clean and minimal pain waxes. We have great convo and now she's the ONLY aesthetician I go to. P.S. My girlfriend was so happy with her results that she kept trying to so everyone lol. Chemaine was amazing. I hadn't had a Brazilian wax in a long time (like 6 months) so I was super nervous. But she really help me get over my fear. The wax was so quick and painless. I found Miss Chemaine via Groupon, I read her reviews and purchased a voucher. She is very professional and her studio is clean! She's very organized. The reviews I've read in regards to pain for Brazilian waxes - they were NOT wrong! It was NOT painful at all! As I was laying down waiting for her to begin, i say my usual silent mantra "please help me" and "here we go". I had my eyes closed, i was wondering why I hadn't felt anything. I thought she was still prepping the area. I opened one eye to take a peep, she was ALREADY pulling the hair off. She asked if I was alright b/c i lifted my head to look and i said "You started already?!" She said "oh yes, i already did a couple of strips" I was The pain level, if I had to rate it from 0-10 (10 being painful), it would be a 1. Seriously. For real. Not kidding. You only have to do two positions with Miss Chemaine. My past experiences at other places (I've been getting Brazilian waxes for years and have been to a few places) you had to all of a sudden know and be an expert in yoga. I had my wax done with Miss Chemaine 2 days ago. Usually, after 4 hrs (ON the day of) the area would be sensitive and would feel a burning sensation. I would have to use Finipil (antiseptic cream). Beware if you're using a Groupon. I purchased a Brazilian wax last year and she did a decent job so this year I purchased the 2 session pack from Groupon. I scheduled both sessions without incident. I got the 1st wax done and month later I went to get the 2nd waxing session. Halfway through the session the technician informs me that my Groupon isn't valid because it's for new customers only and because I already had a waxing done there I could no longer use the Groupon that I'd already purchased. When I asked why I wasn't informed of this before she started the session or during my prior session, she became argumentative. I had to pay full price for the session losing the remaining value of the purchased 2 session pack. read more

So far the service has been horrible. I booked an appointment for a Brazilian bikini wax through Groupon. Unfortunately, my period wanted to visit the morning of my appointment. I called several times and left a voicemail to absolutely no avail. So I decided to arrive to my appointment regardless. IT TOOK ME 20 MINUTES TO FIND THIS PLACE BECAUSE CHEMAINE THE OWNER CHOSE NOT TO PUT ANYWHERE THAT THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS PART OF PHOENIX SUITESS . Like wtf. As I'm trying to find the suite, I get a text message that my appointment has been canceled. I have called 4x with no answer or callback and you have time to text me that my appointment has been cancelled. I finally get to the suite and knocking on the door and CHEMAINE refuses to even open the door for me. She chooses to yell through the door "Your appointment has been canceled! I have a guest!" And I'm like "ok well can I at least ask a question?" Her reply "I have a guest." I sat for a while and she finally came out and answered my personal question. She also offered to do my wax after her next customer. But I left. Horrible customer service and I don't feel comfortable being annoyed with a complete lack of customer service. I would give her 0 stars but that's not an option. Please go to European Wax Center. It's a little more expensive but you know that's going towards a better experience. read more

Body Bar is the only place I come to to get a Brazilian Wax. I found this place through a friend who told me to book through Groupon. I am so impressed with everything about this place from booking to customer service and down to the actual service. I had a bad experience with a well known waxing place but Chermaine took her time with me and talked me right through my wax that I almost forgot I was terrified of getting one done again. The environment in Body Bar is so calming and PINK! First time, I was left with minimal hair but that's expected when it's your FIRST WAX but since then I've been so bald that after every shower I can't help but stare. Got a vaginal cut/tear from my brazilian wax. I don't ever have issues after my waxes usually. If there's ever any discomfort it's minor and in my pelvic area. I was confused during my wax by how far into my lips she was going but figured it would be okay. Unfortunately it was too close, basically on the inside of my lips and now there's torn skin. After the wax i noticed a little blood when i wiped but thought it might have been period blood even though my flow stopped the day before. Also she poured the products every where even my vaginal area and i was confused bc i'm pretty sure you're not supposed to use any of that stuff directly down there so as not to throw off your PH. The waxer just had very little regard for such a sensitive area now my vagina is burning and i'm in a lot of pain from the broken skin. Hopefully I will not get an infection and be okay in a few days but this was just a very unprofessional job and now i'm suffering because of it. I can't even have intercourse, which is most of the reason for why I got this wax, because i'm in so much pain and scared of possible infection. Urinating hurts as well. Definitely will not be coming back here. Be careful. read more
