To start off, getting pierced here is extremely expensive. If you don't like the way they pierced you or if your body rejects the piercing, you will likely be out $75-100 minimum. They charge around $60 per piercing, sometimes more. This does not include the price of the jewelry. Their jewelry is excessively marked up. They won't pierce you with jewelry you buy separately and bring to them. Understandable to a point, but it's very costly going that route. I have had both good and bad experiences here. Sometimes the piercers are very polite and professional, other times they are not very friendly and don't do a good job on the piercing. I had my forward helix done here a few years ago. The piercer marked my ear, let me look in the mirror, and asked me if that's where I wanted the earring. I said no, that's too low, too close to my rook, I'd like it higher up. She said no problem, but didn't mark my ear a second time. She said she would just move the piercing up a little bit. Great. So she pierces my ear, puts the jewelry in, and lets me go look at it. She hadn't moved the piercing up at all, she had pierced me exactly where I said I didn't want it. Way too low on the forward helix. That cost me $85 in total and she said she could not pierce again without charging another $60 for a second pierce. From now on I will not get pierced at this location if the piercer I trust and like isn't working that day. If I could give a temporary 0 star I would. My wife has been a repeat customer of Body Jewel in the Dayton Mall before, and previously (in years past) had a good experience. However, in one just a week ago, she had an experience that will be leaving me with telling people to avoid this location LIKE THE PLAGUE for years to come. My wife went into Dayton Mall Body Jewel shop asking about her second ear piercing that had partially healed over, but not fully. The piercer that worked with her said that because it had not healed over, and because of a sale going on at that store, that it would be best that she get that piercing re-opened and get a 3rd ear piercing, and that the cost would be, in the piercer's words, not more than $160. My wife thought that sounded alright and agreed, getting her second ear piercing re-opened, and a 3rd done. However, when she went to check out, she was told that the total price was going to be $250. She pushed back, letting the person checking out know that this was MUCH higher than the agreed upon maximum cost of what had occurred, but the cashier insisted that that was the final price. Feeling pressured because you can't really take back a piercing, she paid that amount and left. Now, as I'm sure you can imagine, this left her feeling taken advantage of and all around awful with the experience at the Body Jewel store. I can also attest that this has also left a very bad taste in my mouth as well Even if the final price was "correct," telling a potential client that the cost would be substantially less than that is both unethical, and possibly illegal. Besides both those points, it is also just bad business as not only us, but any one we speak with, will be unlikely to ever do business with your location again. Now, I can attest that clients can be a lot in this field, but this was a simple case of someone going in to get a closed piercing re-opened, being told there is a price to be charged, and then having that not be the case. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. To be fair, I reached out to the owner of this location before posting this. I asked the owner in a cordial and polite manner that I would prefer to deal with this situation outside of public eye, but it has now been over a week, and I have heard no response from my inquiry. So not only do you not know what you will be charged when going to this location, you will not have any way of contacting management if needed. Please do not visit this location. read more

I've been coming here every so often the past two years for piercings because they do deals and have cheaper jewelry from (I believe) their own company instead of outsourcing (don't quote me on that). It's normally been fine and I come in for downsizings and things of that sort but the past piercing I got was done very incorrectly. It was very superficial instead of deep so it rejected. I'm very upset about it and instead of the piercer realizing "maybe I should immediately take this out and have it redone" they let me leave and pretend it was fine for three months until it was basically going to fall out in my sleep. Not to mention the fact that (they may be new and inexperienced??) they used really bad jewelry backing for a third lobe (it was a huge flat disc instead of maybe using a barbell???) Also my daith was done very high up to the point a second opinion professional commented on it and kept calling it a helix and told me body jewel pierced it poorly. I don't think I'll come back here anymore. Not to mention they have forgotten about me waiting twice now. I really used to encourage people to come here because they've been amazing (still are very good) but I've had too many bad recent experiences so I'm not coming back :( If you go here please please please have the piercer have lots of experience. I don't want to accuse them of doing piercings poorly or using rougher jewelry to make you come back to pay more money but it's starting to seem that way. read more

I don't have experience with actually getting a piercing here so my review is based strictly on their customer service and my experience purchasing jewelry there. I wanted to change my nose piercing from a stud to a hoop. Ryan was working when I stopped in and he was so friendly and helpful. He made sure he gave me the right size hoop so that it fit the way I wanted it to on my nostril. He was very personable and chatted with me while ringing me up. He assured me that the metal was surgical steel but I just put the hoop in a few minutes ago so it is yet to be seen if my sensitive skin has a reaction to it. The jewelry was fairly priced, I think I paid around $12 for my hoop, and they had a great selection so once I decide if I like the hoop or not I will probably go back for more colors. I will at least go back there whenever I am in need for a new stud. Overall it was a wonderful experience. read more

not usually one to leave reviews bc ik we all have bad days, but i went and got my belly button done, gave me too small of a bar for the healing process, and put it upside down, so now i can't get it out on my own, jewel is digging into my stomach creating a hole and pain, and once i do get it out, i have to wait until it's healed to get it redone, where i'd have to pay for it AGAIN. the lady that did it was rude, and clearly doesn't know what she's doing. wont give me a refund for HER mistake. do NOT recommend unless you want to waste your money. would give -5 stars if i could read more

I was able to get 2 ear piercings in one day, piercer was incredibly comforting and gave clear instructions about piercing aftercare! I see a few reviews that are bashing the business so here's what I'm saying to address a few of the ignorant comments. 1. This piercing shop is VERY busy. I had gone about 4 times in the same week to try to get a piercing done but they were very busy or had a long line. I usually went around 4-5 and even though the shop doesn't close until 7, there are many people already waiting their turn. If you're upset about not getting your piercing done, that's not the store's fault. There is also only 1 room in the back so even if there are more than 1 employees lingering around, they don't have the facilities to work on you. 2. We're well past the first stages of the pandemic so why is there still complaining about any precautions you have to take? Your piercer and you will be very close in contact when getting a piercing. When working on so many people, the piercer should feel safe. If they have rules then comply by them. Don't bring in your little kids and get upset if they don't allowed your children to be in the back with you while you're getting pierced. Wear your mask. Be clean. If you don't like the rules then go elsewhere...they're getting plenty of business with or without you. I would recommend this location to everyone! Just be patient. So I'm that girl. I passed out and had a seizure in the chair while getting my nose pierced lol. If it wasn't for snow and the other few that where there when I woke up to bring me back too it could have ended very badly. I will forever recommend you go there and request snow and she is one the most caring girls there. And mind you this was months ago and I still go there if I wanna get a piercing. I would STRONGLY advise staying away from here. It's been almost 7 years since I had a triple helix done here and I still continue to have issues with it, as well as the other three piercings I've received from here have all needed to be redone or are just flat out losses that leave me with a permanent, useless hole in my ear. All my other 15 piercings come from two different *actual* professional shops and they healed with no lasting issues or none at all. I really wish I had known better than to refuse this piercing when I was told it was purposefully going to be done crooked as "that's how my ear is shaped". Both other piercers I've been to have commented on how janky and painful this triple helix looks and how no certified piercer would approve of doing so. Not to mention, it's now down to just a double as one of the three holes was so dangerously close to the edge of my ear that it resulted in two ER visits. All jewelry I ever purchased here was also externally threaded, which is legitimately the first big NO you learn with piercings. It still really eats at me all these years later, I truly hope this chain is out of business by now. It was so poorly thought out that I can't even hope that it was salvaged by new management. I got my septum and belly button pierced but my septum was potentially open so she tapered it so AGGRESSIVELY and then still charged me for 2 piercings. She basically repierced my nose with the taper/ jewelery i have gotten my septum done before AT HOME and it didn't hurt this much. Didn't make sense how she said the buy 2 get one 50% off cancels the fact I got a taper? she seemed to think it was funny I was in pain from how aggressive she was but the guy before her was gentle and very nice but then she stepped in and just did everything she could to shove the taper/piercing into my previously pierced and I'm now almost 100% closed hole. DO NOT come here and let them try and shove the taper into your nose unless ur 100% sure it's open otherwise she's just gonna shove it in aggressively and repierce it with a piercing/taper. I would of rather used the needle. The belly button piercing didn't hurt at all because she used a needle like she should've the whole time. read more

Save your money and go to a respectable tattoo shop to get pierced. You can make an appointment and you won't get ripped off. This location was going to charge us an extra $15 to use their "special tools" to get the earring loosened that THEY originally screwed on too tightly. Even if we got to the business at 1:30 PM, they couldn't say if they'd "have time" to fix their mistake before they closed at 7 PM. Business must be good to treat customers this poorly. We had to use 2 sets of pliers from our garage (one on each side of the ear) instead. Will never go back. read more

Over a two hour wait to change a nose ring. Took other clients back who checked in after me. The customer service rep told me three different times that I was next only to have the piercer come out and take someone else. Don't come unless you have time to waste. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!! They get the job done but every time I go they are complete freaking ASSHOLES! My sister asked if there was anyone able to pierce her daith and the lady replied "unfortunately." Then she was telling her the colors she could get and my sister said "can i do green?" And the lady said "maybe." All of their belly button rings break. They get pissed if you ask to record instead of telling you nicely that it isn't allowed. They told me they couldn't do my industrial when i went to another place they said they had no clue why body jewel refused to do it. They all have shitty attitudes. I took my 7yo daughter here to get her ears pierced. She was REALLY nervous, but all the employees talked her to and were so encouraging and made things so easy for her. The piercing was really quick and has healed perfectly so far. When we came out from the back room, the employee at the front desk announced that she had just gotten her ears pierced and she was super brave and all the customers clapped and congratulated her.
