Staff is rude. No one spoke to me at all when I walked in the store. But when "others" walked in, they greeted them quickly. I even had to ask to be checked out when they saw that I was ready to check out. The last time I was there, I noticed the staff was unfriendly but this time was the last straw. The vibe was very off putting and I'm starting to wonder if they only treat melanated people this way. Even though I like the store, I will not be returning. UPDATE: After reading other reviews, I see that what I felt was justified. They do not treat melanated people well. If you only want a certain demographic of people shopping in your store, then just say that. I will be sure to spread the news because apparently people have been complaining for over 6 years and you still haven't changed. Just put a sign on the door and be done with it. read more

This place was bigger than I expected. There are lots of things to look at. From crystals, geodes, jewelry, books, and more. You won't get bored when shopping. Everyone was friendly but really wish they'd let me know they had shopping baskets (I noticed another customer carrying one). They weren't in an obvious place (imo). I also realized a few of the employees had seen me but didn't think to offer me a basket when seeing my hands were full. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Overall it was a great experience and their prices were fair. This is one of the best spirituality shops that Houston has, hands down. Stopped here for some crystals for a charm bag I was putting together and I spent about an hour and a half just wandering around looking at everything. Crystals can be so pricey and outside of Old Town Spring, most metaphysical stores take advantage that there isn't a huge presence in Houston. It's also so easy to teeter into cheesy territory so I appreciate the thoughtful touches and items for sale that really round out anyone's wish list. I walked out with a few journals, crystals, resins, and beautiful wooden box, all at a very affordable price. I generally loathe giving my email address during shopping trips but something told me concede. I'm glad I did because I've received invites to workshops they have like one that focused on the most recent lunar eclipse and full moon. Pro tip- you can pick up Florida water here ;) read more

I was on the hunt for a black lava bead bracelet. As soon as I walked in, I felt the Zen energy immediately! It has much more than crystals and stones. There's gifts, statues, accessories, cards, mugs, decor pieces, books, etc. It can be overwhelming, but good overwhelming. The prices are a bit high, but that's expected for quality goods. As for the bead bracelets, there's a small selection. However, I found just what I needed. If it's your first time there, they give you a complimentary gift: Desert Rose stone. So cool! I shopped this store for years when it was on Mid Lane. I moved from Texas in 2020, but still ordered online a couple of times. I tried to place an order online last night, but ran into problems so I called and left a voicemail with all my info and requested a call today to help complete the order. When I heard nothing, I called them well after 2PM. The young woman who answered just gave the excuse that she was new and knew nothing about the "message machine" and asked what I needed. I then asked if there was someone who'd worked there longer and might know. It seems bizarre that a retail business would ignore a request for a callback to complete a sale. She passed the call to someone else who confirmed they had received my voicemail but only offered more excuses why no one had called me back and proceeded to keep ignoring my questions and interrupting with "what can I do for you?" This is NOT the calming, positive-vibes place I recall. I finally said, no, he couldn't help and ended the call. I thought I would at least give the manager/owner an opportunity to know how their employees are handling calls and I called back. This time David answered. I asked if the manager or owner was available and his response was "the manager isn't in, how can I help you?" I asked when he or she would be available and he replied, "I'm not sure. How can I help you?" I then asked if he could tell me the owner's or manager's names. He replied, "I am. How can I help you?" You are what, I asked, a manager or an owner? David's reply was, "I'm an owner. How can I help you?" At that point, I understood why the other employees lacked courtesy and showed so little interest in helping and why no one had returned my call. I then said, I'll shop elsewhere and David hung up. I don't know what happened to oBMS from the wonderful place I knew in years past, but it is nothing like it was. The negativity is palpable. I have SO many pictures. As soon as you walk in the ambience is just perfect. It's very calming and everyone is so nice. The staff makes you feel very welcome and didn't mind answering questions. The store is HUGE. They have so much more than what I expected. There are a TON of crystals, rocks, even statues and other figurines that I honestly hadn't even thought of. Not to be confused with Body And Soles which is what people love about my Barbi among other things. I added a star because of a very gracious and friendly response that I received from them. On the one hand it's a five-star shop, and a really big and enjoyable one as well. It's hard not to love this sort of metaphysical experience, and if that's your thing, you're going to love it. On the other hand they have taken coronavirus extremely seriously. This following part has nothing to do with the business: I mean, so have most of the people on Yelp, who ironically don't really know much about science, and have seemed to not notice that in the most restrictive states, they've then had a lot of coronavirus, and the states with no real restrictions - so have they. In other words, did it really matter in the end. We all thought we were so smart, did we? Judging by all the 1 star reviews from Yelpers of various businesses due to not following "protocols" I think Yelpers should all get 1 star for even being out and about in the first place - bunch of hypocrites. But each to their own but they took it to an extreme here. As for this store though: top notch for sure, and back to normal now as per owner comments, thankfully. It's also not a cheap shop at all. When I say I SWOON for this store...I'm stoned on their good vibes: every time I go I need to be ready to drop a good lump sum and make it a special occasion. I love to get gifts for friends there, but let's be real: I can't resist for myself. I'm an AVID crystal collector with high end and rare stuff. And I have always been able to find new things for my collection that make me giddy. I've got some lovely rare pieces from this shop. And a couple big pieces I invested in. Prices seem fair, and even their "common" crystals, like amethyst, rose quartz, regular quartz, are nice quality, high grade. This last visit I went and found a pearl cross pendant that I fell in love with: it was a gift to myself for a big life accomplishment, and it is so perfectly elegant. Then I got some purple Opal, some epidote, a copper cross, and some fantastic quality pyrite with inclusions. And couldn't leave without some incense stocked up, a new book, and some new tarot. This store is just full of magic. The employees have always been so nice and helpful to me. I love how they ding your package with a sound bath. The store is just beauty about. I have been coming to Body, Mind & Soul for a few years now and have loved every experience. I even tell friends and family about it and have them check it out! Unfortunately, this wasn't the case yesterday. I never order online, I prefer going inside to feel the energy I get towards the crystals/books I purchase. I decided I would give it a shot because I was low on time and really needed a pick me up. When I got through the door, it was just weird vibes and there was maybe 4 customers in the store. I walked up to the counter and expected to be greeted like I normally would. There were two employees who were standing away from the register itself talking quietly and seemed to be in deep conversation to the point where I continued to stand there and not be greeted. One girl was standing in the position where she saw me, and the other was with her back turned towards me. I know one of them saw me but instead of putting a pause on the conversation, they kept talking and ignored me. I started to get anxiety and I pop my knuckles when this happens. Even with each knuckle being popped, I was not looked at or acknowledged that I was still standing there waiting to be helped. Finally, the girl with long green dyed hair looked over at me and took about 5 seconds before she actually stopped talking and walked over to me with the sluggish movement and all I received was "how can I help you?"..... really? I told her I was there to pick up an order for Alyssa. Her response- "last name?" I said Graves. She walked off and came back with my bag and said "here you go." And I said "thank you!" Her response- nothing. Not a "you're welcome." "See you next time." "Have a good night." Nothing! I was completely stunned by the customer service I received yesterday. Unexpected. I already was having a bad day so that really just topped it off. I look forward to getting the chime dinged and the swirl around my bag after making a purchase and I didn't even get that. That's what I look forward to most! I gave 3 stars because I love Body, Mind & Soul but had to take off 2 stars for the disappointing customer service. read more

They just have to be careful with the employees they hire, I went to show a jewel that I bought with them, supposedly it was silver, the jewel turned completely black. A tall, thin black employee treated me with disrespect, saying that I already knew that this item was not made of silver when I bought it. The staff is EXCELLENT!!!! First time here and I was immediately welcomed with smiles! Such good vibes the moment you pass that door and staff is super friendly. Especially Debbie! Very clean store, lots of crystals to choose from and info plaques are everywhere. Info clipboards are supplied next to the tumbled crystals with a tray and pencil and you write down the quantity next to the crystal of your choice. There is a variety of jewellery and home decor, and Christmas items in time for the holidays. Fossils and books, too! And once you're ready to purchase, the cashier will bring out a bell or sound bowl and cleanse your items before you touch them like Debbie did with my bracelet, Selenite blade and tumbled stones. I've had countless "that explains a lot" moments with him. And I always come away with something super beneficial - clarity and a deeper understanding about myself and/or issues in my life, for instance. I always learn from Kevin. He has SO MUCH to offer. I met with him for 30 minutes, and he spent more than half the time talking about himself (his family, history in Houston, job history, where he's lived, plus several (at least five) personal references to Pentecostalism). He then mentioned "a woman." I mentioned every woman I could think of, and he became visibly agitated and frustrated, with a vibe of impatience, b/c I couldn't identify who he was talking about. He then kept cracking (supposed) jokes. (He was the only one laughing.) I felt so uncomfortable. He kept at it, eventually saying, "I'm just trying to make you laugh b/c the energy is so heavy." Trying to make me laugh? Plus, if the energy is heavy, why not let it be heavy? I would think he could hold that/honor that, esp. as a (one would hope) mature adult and supposed professional. Additionally, at several points during the reading, he seemed to really be FISHING for what to say. Finally, at the end, he tells me, "You didn't need this." Well at last he got SOMETHING right. B/c I *didn't* need to hear his life history and all the rest - or to be treated in such a shockingly unprofessional manner. This store is amazing! I was in town back in October and popped in. They have a great selection of crystals, even precious stones that they house behind the counter. I wound up picking a beautiful, vibrant moldavite and couldn't be happier with my purchase. Now in the midst of Covid 19 and the quarantine, I found myself in a predicament to find the perfect gift for a couple of my friends. Denise, the owner went above and beyond accommodating all my questions and corresponding with pictures through text of items I was curious about. She got everything shipped out and little to my knowing, she took the time to hand wrap these gifts sent to my friends in California.
