Things they could do to make it five stars: my roommate and I noticed, they do not consistently have the same amount of time. I set my watch now. They could put a sign on the door when full so the workers don't have to leave to answer the door and phone. I'd love if they could get the hot towels ready in the room--they are all big enough--so no one is freezing while waiting for the massage personnel to return. And don't ask for more of a tip; it's just tacky.

They asked us at the beginning what areas were more sensitive than others or if there were any places to avoid. I'm not sure why they asked that because they did not follow it. My fiancée and I both voiced that things were hurting and they would stop, but then when they would return to that area, it was with the same pressure. The two women giving the massage spoke in a different language through most of the massage. One lady left the massage to answer a phone call. The same lady left again to deal with a customer. She left the door open, which leads right into the entryway, while my fiancée and I were barely covered. Then at one point, she asked my fiancée if we were sisters. After we told them no, we are in fact engaged, they went back to speaking in their language and started laughing. It made me feel very uncomfortable. Once the massage was done, we thanked them and started to leave. They stopped us and said we did not pay. I explained that my friends had already paid for it as a gift. She kept saying that it was NOT paid for and that we needed to pay. I reached out to my friends, and they sent me a picture of the receipt that had the explanation that it was being paid for in advance. Once I showed the lady the receipt, she magically had it right under the desk. She said, "Oh, this was a misunderstanding." No, ma'am, it was not. If you knew you had a prepaid receipt under your desk and I am telling you my bill is paid for and you don't immediately check the receipt that has my name on it, we have a problem. Once that was over, we went to leave again, and she basically demanded a tip. Which we were not prepared to have to give because we figured everything was taken care of. So we told her we had enough to give them each $10. She looked at my fiancée, and I like we were crazy. She put the amount in the card reader and hesitated. She then looked up and asked if we had any more because it is usually $20/ person. We told her no. Honestly, I am all about tipping someone for their services if the services were good. This was not. And the issues with the payment and homophobia made it even worse. We will NOT be returning ever again. And I caution anyone who is a part of the LGBT community from going there.

For starters, Balance Massage has a very professional website with helpful information, including a list of local clients that includes Whole Foods, Tulane University, and Harrah's Casino. All Balance Massage therapists are nationally certified. Joe (I think he is the owner) was very helpful and friendly during the reservation process and answered all of my questions. The day of the event, the massage therapists showed up on time with their equipment in tow. All I needed to do was give them a little bit of space to set up in. The massage therapists were friendly, sanitized their hands and chairs between clients, and provided skilled, relaxing massages. It was a lot harder than you might think to find professional, organized, and affordable massage therapists to provide chair massages at an event.
